LeBron Passes 40K. Best NBA Career Ever? Celtics Pressure Mounts With Win Streak. Caitlin Clark Record With * Fighting In NHL Making A Comeback? Giants Ink Chapman. Passing Of NFL Insider Legend

Back in high gear to get a new month started, I’ll bring the pain on all that’s going on in the sports world with the latest podcast. On deck:

(2:56) As we turn the calendar to March, basketball is at the top of the sports food chain with plenty to unpack. LeBron James has surpassed the 40,000 point mark in his illustrious career. Does he hold the mantle of having the greatest NBA tenure in the history of the sport? More than Kareem? More than Jordan? The Boston Celtics are on a torrid 11 game winning streak at the moment. They have a 48-12 record, almost comparable to the 1986 championship team. Is the pressure mounting by the win? Also, who’s a key component/X-factor on the C’s to take them to a title? Russell Westbrook will be out indefinitely with the Clippers. Is that a huge loss? Knicks Jalen Brunson injured his knee in Cleveland last night. Will he be out for any significant time? I’ll take a look at what’s going on throughout the Association in each conference when it comes to playoff seeding at the moment.

(26:23) Top seeded Houston Cougars will remain #1 in the nation going into this week. If you’re Kansas, another loss this week (vs. Baylor) will put them out of the Top 10 for the first time in a while. Any concern about their length when it comes to March Madness. Caitlin Clark is now at the top of the scoring mountain when it comes to NCAA college basketball, eclipsing Pete Maravich’s record 54 years ago. Why I don’t take that record seriously. In fact, there are two reasons as I’ll explain.

(33:53) It’s been an exciting and interesting two weeks for NY Rangers rookie tough guy, Matt Rempe. He’s been the talk of the NHL, culminating in a fight against arguably the toughest enforcer in the league, Ryan Reaves Saturday night in Toronto. Why this has been a boon for hockey, no matter how much they don’t want to admit it, but more so for the fight fan, is this sustainable? The Canucks sign one of their top players to a long term deal (Elias Patterson 8 for $92.8 million dollars) The Florida Panthers invade MSG tonight to go at it against the Rangers for the top spot in the East. The Oilers continue to play well in the Pacific Division as they’re nine points from the first place Canucks with four games in hand. I’ll see what else is taking place on the ice as the trade deadline looms for teams to pick up reinforcements come Friday.

(47:13) Another top free agent is off the market as Matt Chapman signs with the Giants. Was this a must get for San Francisco as they compete in a tough NL West? Is Blake Snell headed for the City of Brotherly Love, as rumor has it he may head there on a short term deal? The Phillies have already extended Zack Wheeler to a three year/$126 million dollar deal. What will happen to Snell or Jordan Montgomery as we’re already into March? Are there concerns on the latest knee injury regarding reigning NL MVP Ronald Acuna Jr.?

(52:39) Sad news on and off the field in the NFL. Longtime insider for ESPN, Chris Mortensen passed away at 72. As well as, Steeler LB Andy Russell who was a part of the first two Super Bowl wins in Pittsburgh, dies at 82. Buccaneers WR Mike Evans stays in Tampa for 2 years/$52 million. And Steelers GM Omar Khan has complete faith in QB, Kenny Pickett, to the chagrin of other talking head/Steeler fans out here (ahem, Stephen A. Smith) overreacting to this news as I delve into this.

Mass Shooting Mars Chiefs Parade. Shanahan/Lynch Fall Guy For Super Bowl Loss. LeBron Rumor To Golden St? KD: Curry Top 5 All Time? Caitlin Clark Chasing History. NHL Stadium Series Upcoming

On this day after Valentine’s, the lovefest continues as I dissect and share all that’s happening in sports. On deck:

(3:14) We make the pivot to The Sports Dead Zone, Pt. 1 (Post Super Bowl and right before the NCAA Tournament or Opening Day of the MLB season) as I spend a moment discussing this.

(6:03) What was supposed to be another celebratory parade through Kansas City with their third title in five years, turned out to be a nightmare as a mass shooting occurred nearby the festivities to where one person was killed and 22 others injured. When will this country wake up and take a stand to these senseless shootings? Then the San Francisco 49ers fired their defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. He’s the fall guy for the Niners losing the Super Bowl on Sunday. I have a major problem with this, so I’ll go in on the GM John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan as Wilks did not deserve this fate.

(15:46) The NBA will head into the All-Star Break after a few games tonight. Will I be watching? You had the rumor that the Warriors were interested in acquiring LeBron James at the trade deadline last week. Why I’m glad that didn’t take place? A few days ago, Kevin Durant stated that former teammate Steph Curry is a top-5 all time player? Is he accurate with that statement? Then you had Pistons center, Isaiah Stewart assault Suns Drew Eubanks BEFORE the game in Phoenix last night. How did this all come about? I’ll survey the basketball landscape as the league takes a respite for the next week.

(30:53) As for college basketball, another top team falls by the wayside (I.e. #7 North Carolina) Tonight, history will likely be made as Iowa’s Caitlin Clark will break the all time scoring record in women’s college basketball. Is she considered one of the great women’s players of all time?

(35:18) It’s a big weekend for the NHL as there’s not one, but two, outdoor games as the Stadium Series will occur at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey. Saturday night will have the Flyers visiting the Devils, while Sunday afternoon, the Islanders are the home team against the Rangers. Will these games be sold out? What about the weather for both matchups? I have to get into the aftermath of the cross check of Morgan Rielly to Ridley Greig, which garnered a five game suspension to the Maple Leafs Rielly. Did the punishment fit the crime? And what could be done to stop incidents like this? I’ll check on who’s hot and who’s not on the ice as the season is just about two-thirds done.

(44:20) Pitchers and catchers have reported throughout the MLB. There’s one notable player that may have a slow start to their upcoming year. Astros pitcher, Justin Verlander is behind schedule on a shoulder issue. Is anyone surprised? Is yours truly into this early part of spring training with position players reporting in five days? What about big time free agents that are still out there? (I.e. Blake Snell, Cody Ballinger and Matt Chapman)

Low To No Super Bowl Hype? Preview Of Chiefs-Eagles. NFL HOF Class Of 2023. LeBron: Most Complete Career? KD Jumps Ship/Delusional Kyrie/Nets Questionable Owner Leads NBA! Rangers Trade For 'Tank'

It's going to be a SUPER podcast as the NFL will crown a champion, a new all time scoring leader in the NBA and a gigantic trade that could shift the balance in the Western Conference, you know I'll have plenty to dissect and disseminate as I close out the week on a strong note. On deck:

(2:45) Super Bowl LVII is just about here. I'll take the temperature of all the hype and preparation leading up to kickoff between the Chiefs and Eagles, the key points for both teams, a prediction of who'll win as we say goodbye to another NFL season. I'll get into the newly minted Hall of Fame Class of 2023 as Darrelle Revis, Joe Thomas, Ronde Barber, Demarcus Ware, Zach Thomas among others, represent a strong defensive contingent that will be enshrined in Canton later this year. Who was worthy of making the Hall? You know I've got lots to say about this. Also, the retirement of Bengals & Cardinals receiver AJ Green and Tom Brady will wait a year to join FOX as his megadeal will begin in 2024.

(35:54) LeBron James made history on Tuesday night as he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the all-time scoring leader in the NBA. Has he had the most complete career of anyone in league history? Then you had another blockbuster deal in Brooklyn right before yesterday's trade deadline. Kyrie Irving was shipped to Dallas earlier this week, then Kevin Durant was packaged with TJ Warren to Phoenix for a boatload of #1 picks, Cam Johnson, Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder. Why I'm disappointed in KD's decision, how NBA player empowerment strikes again and what his legacy could look like moving forward is something that I haven't heard anywhere else! As for Kyrie, how his comments of being disrespected by the Nets, being a selfless leader and leaving his former team in fourth place? His delusions of grandeur isn't fooling this guy! As for the Net organization (particularly the owner, Joe Tsai) my theory of a brilliant businessman doesn't mean he can lead a professional basketball team. I'll get into some of the other trades that took place (D'Angelo Russell & Mo Bamba to the Lakers, Russell Westbrook to Utah, Eric Gordon to the Clippers, James Wiseman to Detroit, et. al.) as the All-Star Break is just a week away.

(58:03) As for what's happening on the ice, the Rangers procure a former Stanley Cup winning goal scorer from St. Louis in Vladimir Tarasenko adds more punch on their frontline and championship experience in the locker room. There's been some key injuries to star players (i.e. Cale Makar, Jack Hughes and Andre Burakovsky) as they do their best to get back on the mend for the stretch run in a long regular season.

Episode 83 slides into August with cool, slick sports talk to offset the early dog days. On deck:

I'll get you up to speed on the pennant races in the AL & NL.

Carmelo Anthony is ready to come back to give it one last shot. Is there a team that is willing to do the same?

Plus, opening week of the NFL exhibition schedule with thoughts of what’s going on in the league. My Hero & Zero of the Week and much more.

The NBA Finals just ended, but the offseason is already proving that it's going to be wild and crazy as Episode 76 will provide the following:

The Anthony Davis trade to the Lakers. Who is the winner and loser of this deal?

Should the Knicks or Nets pursue Kevin Durant? What will the Knicks do on draft night?  Plus, the aftermath of Klay Thompson's injury and the future of the Warriors.

I'll recap the Blues historic Stanley Cup run. Does home ice/court/field matter in sports? The NHL Draft is Friday. Why the Devils and Rangers will be forever linked with who they select come Friday night?

The Yankees trade for another right-handed slugger. Why I disagree with the move? And why wasn't a starting pitcher involved instead?

A recap of Gary Woodland's US Open victory over Brooks Koepka.

March Madness Begins, NFL Free Agency Fallout, MLB Rule Changes, Clyde Frazier's Comments About LeBron

CORRECTION: During the March Madness segment of the podcast, I mentioned that Tennessee won the SEC Championship. It was Auburn. My apologies for the erroneous information.

Let the Madness begin as March starts to scorch the sports universe on this weeks edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. Get your brackets ready because we’re going full throttle on the NCAA Tournament as I dissect the regions, who’ll be this years Cinderella and which four teams will represent in Minneapolis to play for the National Championship. The NFL offseason did not disappoint (unless you’re a fan of the football Giants). So much to dive into whether it’s the fallout of the Odell Beckham Jr. trade, the Browns already punching their ticket to the Super Bowl, Le’Veon Bell to the Jets and all of the craziness that ensued during this free agency period. Plus, what players are left standing as teams will now gear up for the NFL Draft. There are some rule changes coming to MLB, two of them happening in this coming year. I’ll deliver what they are and share my thoughts on whether or not it’s good for baseball. Also, will the Yankees not having P Luis Severino in their starting rotation be a major, minor or no problem at all? I’ll have all of that, including the latest in the NBA (Clyde Frazier’s comments about LeBron, playoff seeds in East & West), NHL (Islanders hanging on to first place) and much more on this weeks episode of The JAYREELZ Podcast. (Episode 59)

NBA's 'Second Half', Antonio Brown Saga, Jacob deGrom's Future, NHL Buyers & Sellers

As most of the country is celebrating a long holiday weekend, start your Monday off catching up with all that’s shaking down in the world of sports on this weeks edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. The NBA All-Star Weekend is in the books so now we’ll focus on what lies ahead for the rest of this season. Will the Bucks hold the top spot in the East? Can the Raptors secure the #1 seed for the second year in the row? Do the Celtics have a big run in them? Can the Lakers make a push into the top eight in the West? Can anyone dethrone Golden State? Those questions and much more will be answered by yours truly as the Association commences their ‘second half’ on Thursday. The Antonio Brown/Pittsburgh Steelers soap opera has added another twist as the disgruntled WR is requesting a trade out of Pittsburgh. You’ve heard my thoughts on past podcasts about this, but there’s another layer to this never ending saga. Hear what I have to say about how the front office should handle this and how this move can actually make the team come together and be better as a whole. There’s a potential standoff rising in Flushing as Jacob deGrom and his agent are looking for a long term payday, but the Mets aren’t quick to pull the trigger because the reigning Cy Young Award winner still has two years left before he’s a free agent. I’ll share my take on what needs to be done and how this deal may possibly make or break this team for years to come. Also, some thoughts on the NHL as teams will start to buy or sell with the trade deadline a week away, Colin Kaepernick and the NFL have settled and Duke rises back to number one in the country. You’ll have all of this and a little more on this weeks episode of The JAYREELZ Podcast. (Episode 55)

Jets & Giants Future/NFL Week 17, Wild Card Round, FBS Semifinal Recap, MLB Hot Stove, NBA & NHL News

I close out the final podcast of 2018 in grand style as we dive into the latest in the world of sports on this edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. The Jets have fired their coach, Todd Bowles. GM Mike McCagnan stays on board as he tries to build off the success of last years draft. Hear what I have to say about which direction the Jets should go to look for a head coach, as well as, my early thoughts on what the Giants need to do this offseason to get back to playoff contention in a loaded NFC. We’ll take a trip around the league in Week 17 on the games that mattered most, including the Steelers falling short of the postseason and what they need to do to get back there. I’ll preview all of the Wild Card Round match-ups, with thoughts about all of the participants in the first round, plus who will represent the AFC & NFC in the Super Bowl. The College Football National Championship is set. I’ll review the semifinal games where both Alabama and Clemson will meet for the third time in four years to see who’ll be crowned champion of the FBS. I’ll also touch on the latest MLB Hot Stove news, Dallas Stars CEO Jim Lites on his profane comments of his top two players, Enes Kanter’s tough guy act, LeBron James’s proclamation of being the G.O.A.T. and Golden State’s vulnerability of winning another title this year. All of that. plus much more, as we end the year on a high note on this weeks episode of The JAYREELZ Podcast. (Episode 47)

NFL Playoff Landscape After Week 16, Steelers Last Hope, College Football Playoff, MLB Hot Stove, LeBron's Comments & James Dolan Selling The Knicks?

What will lie under the Christmas tree as I deliver all of the shiny gifts, or possibly coal, on this festive edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. We’re down to the final weekend of the NFL regular season. Week 16 certainly took shape as far as playoff positioning in concerned. I’ll get right to it to dissect what happened in the AFC & NFC playoff picture, including a heartbreaking loss for the Pittsburgh Steelers in New Orleans. With the Black & Yellow on the outside looking in, what are their chances of making the postseason? Do they have a shot? I’ll shed some possible light on a dim and dire situation. Plus, the latest on the Jets (Sam Darnold trending up, Todd Bowles trending down) and Giants (Eli Manning’s 2019 return?) as they close out the string. I’ll take a look at the College Football Playoff Semifinal as to who’ll meet in the National Championship Game. All of the MLB Hot Stove news with the Mets, Yankees, the big Dodgers-Reds trade and what that could mean for Bryce Harper? Also, LeBron James’s recent comments on tampering, NFL owners and getting paid and James Dolan open to selling the Knicks? It’s a smorgasbord of sports chatter as we get ready for Santa’s arrival on this weeks episode of The JAYREELZ Podcast. (Episode 46)

Jets/NFL Week 9, Mets Hire New General Mgr./MLB News, NHL, NBA, Floyd Mayweather

The clocks are turned back. The days are shorter. Fall is in full swing and November has arrived as I deliver all that’s going on in the world of sports on this weeks edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. It’s time to put the proverbial end of the 2018 NY Jets as they weren’t able to take flight down in South Florida vs. the Dolphins. There’s lots of blame to go around after their third straight loss drops them to 3-6 on the season. Is it time for Todd Bowles to be fired? Should Sam Darnold ride the pine after his four interception performance? I’ll answer those questions and go around the league in Week 8 to highlight the Saints stopping the Rams unbeaten season, players wanting to play in Oakland, says coach Jon Gruden? Also, the Texans march to a division title, the Steelers death knell to their archrivals and can the Falcons get back in the NFC playoff picture? I’ll analyze the comments made by new Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen and what does it mean for the Amazins’ moving forward? Why I disapprove the Yankees bringing back Brett Gardner? Plus, the latest in the NHL (the Islanders hot streak, Cup hangover in Washington and Vegas?), the NBA (Jimmy Butler needs to go, Luke Walton on the hot seat in LA?) and thoughts about Floyd Mayweather’s upcoming fight in Japan? That’s right! All of that, plus much more, on this weeks episode of The JAYREELZ Podcast. (Episode 38)

LeBron Decision 3.0, John Tavares 1.0, Yanks-Sox Recap, Mickey Callaway Ineptitude, World Cup

A heatwave has hit parts of the U.S., but the sports landscape is on fire as I deliver the top sports news of the past week on The JAYREELZ Podcast. It's official! LeBron James has chosen to play for the Los Angeles Lakers over the next four years. Where are they headed after losing their best player? You'll get my take on this, and the player they brought in to 'replace' him! Also on the docket, is a recap of the Yankees-Red Sox match-up this past weekend. Why Mets manager Mickey Callaway may be walking the plank? And a brief word on the World Cup. All of that, and then some, on this weeks' version of The JAYREELZ Podcast. (Episode 18)

The Draft is three days away, with free agency ten days after that. I'll share my thoughts on what the Knicks & Nets may do, where LeBron James may end up, as well as, Kawhi Leonard looking to be traded to a new team. (LA, anyone?) Get your popcorn ready for another fast paced, action packed, sports talk party here on the latest edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. (Episode 16)
