Purdue’s Time? A UCONN Repeat? SC Spoils Caitlin Clark's Title Run. Coach Cal Leaves Kentucky! A Bucks Flameout In The Works? Fight For NHL’s East Wild Card Spot. Good & Bad Of MLB’s First 10 Days

The sports world continues to heat up in the best sports month of the year. Your favorite little podcast host has it all covered as the latest edition is delivered for your edification. On deck:

(4:38) I have to start off by sharing my thoughts on the earthquake that took place in the Northeast on Friday, which sets up today’s solar eclipse scheduled for this afternoon.

(5:43) As for what’s happening between the lines, we have a mammoth championship game that’ll take place tonight as the NCAA Tournament should conclude with a bang! #1 Purdue will face #1 UCONN with plenty of subplots that I’ll dissect and preview who’ll cut down the nets as champs. I’ll look back to Saturday night’s semifinal games as the Cinderellas (NC State & Alabama) clocks struck 12 to set the stage for a matchup we’ve anticipated. As for the women’s side, Caitlin Clark and Iowa were unable to get the brass ring for the second straight year as they lost to South Carolina in the title game yesterday. I’ll recap their Final Four, the perfect season for the Gamecocks, coach Dawn Staley’s words in regards to Caitlin Clark’s GOAT status as the Hawkeyes fall short. What about the surprising news of John Calipari leaving Kentucky to become the head coach of Arkansas. Was there pressure building for Coach Cal considering two terrible performances in the first round of the tournament over the years? Will he make Arkansas a championship caliber team?

(36:36) There’s an interesting scenario developing in the NBA as we enter the final week of the season. The Milwaukee Bucks are in a battle for the #2 seed in the East. The Orlando Magic, New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers are hot on their tails to see if they can have the opportunity to host two home series in the playoffs. Despite players on the team who have won a championship, led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, do you trust the Bucks to go far in the postseason? What are the expectations for Damian Lillard to step up and take his team to the next level? I’ll uncover all of the latest with teams jockeying for playoff positioning as the chase for the Lawrence O’Brien trophy looms

(51:04) The NHL is also creeping closer to the end of their season. There is a log jam at the bottom of the Eastern Conference Wild Card race. The Islanders are the third seed in the Metropolitan Division, but could easily be knocked out as the Penguins, Flyers and Capitals are breathing down their necks to snatch their potential playoff spot. I’ll break down all of what the ice has to offer as divisions, the President’s Trophy and seedings are all up for grabs as the season ends in ten days.

(1:00:19) We’re ten days into the MLB season. I’ll get into who’s been good (Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Boston) and who’s been bad (Minnesota, Miami and Houston) right out of the gate. Also, some key pitchers are either on the mend, uncertain or certain for Tommy John surgery as the Yankees Gerrit Cole will start throwing this week, Braves Spencer Strider has damage in his right elbow at the moment and Guardians Shane Bieber will undergo the dreaded UCL surgery and is out for the year. Then there are the Oakland A’s as their days are numbered in the Bay Area as they’ll be moving to Sacramento for three years, prior to their expected landing spot in Las Vegas for the 2028 season.

(1:09:36) There were a handful of NFL players that have re-signed with their teams over the past week as the Draft is forthcoming, two weeks from Thursday.

Caitlin Clark’s GOAT Status, Cinderella NC St. A Purdue-UCONN Clash? 76ers Embiid’s Return, Primed For Playoff Run? An Epic Line Brawl At MSG! MLB’s Wild First Week. Diggs Dealt. Better For BUF?

There’s a championship feeling in the air as I prepare you for a big weekend in sports with plenty to uncover on the latest edition of the podcast. On deck:

(3:57) A rarity for the podcast as I had to record this late Thursday night  instead of the usual early morning hours, so my apologies for the delay.

(4:57) The Final Four is set for both the men’s and women’s in college basketball tipping off tonight with the ladies. I’ll begin there as Caitlin Clark has been the story with a dominant, virtuoso performance against rival LSU. Can Clark be called the GOAT of women’s basketball? How about Angel Reese’s reaction after the game, considering a year ago she was the target of ridicule based on her actions after beating Clark in the championship game? What will the ratings be if Iowa makes it to the Final? Then, I’ll cover the men’s semifinals as both Alabama and especially NC State, are the underdogs against the top seeds UCONN & Purdue. Can the Wolfpack get to a Final and relive what the 1983 team did, led by Jim Valvano? Will we see a clash of the titans between the two one seeds? I’ll cover it all as we’re down to the last few games to see who’ll represent in the national championship game.

(21:40) Sixers Joel Embiid made his long awaited return from knee surgery this week. Will he carry his team on a deep postseason run? The Knicks lose a key member of their team as Julius Randle has to get surgery for a shoulder injury. How far can the Knicks go in the playoffs without his presence? I’ll break down the latest in the Association as the season will conclude in ten days. Also, Rajon Rondo retired from the league as he announced that on a recent podcast. I’ll share my thoughts as a Celtic fan on his career and his impact on the game.

(34:30) What a sight to behold at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night! The Devils and Rangers literally squared off to where a line brawl commenced after the puck was dropped where eight players were ejected for their actions, with the heavyweight matchup of Kurtis MacDermid vs. Matt Rempe being the long anticipated bout. Was this a black eye for the sport? What has the reaction been with fans after this ultra rare occasion? I’ll see what else is happening in both conferences when it comes to the playoff races as most teams have five or six games left in the season.

(46:16) Baseball had an interesting first week. We’ve witnessed a no-hitter on April Fool’s Day, the earliest that’s happened in the long history of the MLB. (Astros Ronel Blanco) Mookie Betts has five home runs so far and the Mets FINALLY get a win!

(53:47) WR Stefon Diggs was shipped from Buffalo to Houston a few days ago for a second round pick in next year’s draft. Who got the better of the trade? You can say both teams, more so for the Bills as I’ll explain. Then you’ve had bizarre instances with Chiefs WR Rashee Rice causing a six car accident on a Dallas highway. Former Lions CB Cam Sutton was on the lam for several days before turning himself in to an alleged domestic violence incident. And sad news as former player Vontae Davis was found dead in his home at the age of 35.

Visions Of ’83 For NC State, Bama’s First Final 4. Purdue-UCONN Matchup? Is Any Lead Safe In NBA? My Dark, Twisted MLB Nightmare! Rangers: NHL’s Best? NFL Up To Old Tricks!

No fooling around on this first day of April! I’m ready to fire on all cylinders as I’ve got plenty of sports talk to unpack as a new week, month and quarter begin. On deck:

(4:08) I offer an apology to you guys and gals for not publishing my Thursday podcast (after the MLB Preview) due to some unforeseen circumstances. Add in Easter and celebrating a birthday yesterday, it had yours truly running around, enjoying life as I haven’t posted any thoughts on what’s happening in sports on my YouTube channel, social media, etc. I appreciate your patience and understanding as I send a mea culpa to start.

(6:30) March Madness pivots to April as the Final Four in the Men’s tournament is set! You have a Cinderella in #11 seed, NC State. A #4 seed and first time ever visit to a semifinal in Alabama. Then the two #1 seeds in Purdue (first FF since 1980) and UCONN (defending champs) I’ll talk about their journey to this point, including some early headlines of these four teams representing out in Glendale where the Final Four will take place on Saturday night. On the women’s side, there’s lot of intrigue with a regional semifinal tonight where LSU will play Iowa to see who goes onto the Final Four. We know about these rivals dating back to last year’s tournament. NC State has advanced, just like their male counterparts. Can the Lady Huskies do the same with a win tonight vs. USC?

(28:24) The Association is down to the final couple of weeks of the season. It’s a Wild Wild West at the top and bottom of the conference. Lakers continue their winning ways on a current East coast trip, trying to stay ahead of the Warriors for the ninth seed. Golden State keeps winning, where the Rockets had their eleven game winning streak snapped as they’ve tried to keep pace with the Dubs for the final seed out West. Has luck run out for Houston? What about the race for the top seed between OKC, Denver and Minnesota? Who needs it the most? I’ll check on what’s happening out in the East, as it’s not as intriguing, unless you’re interested in the battle of the 3-8 seeds. More importantly, is any lead safe in the NBA? After watching the Celtics blew a 30 point lead to Atlanta last week. And the Bucks coughed up an 18 point fourth quarter lead against a LeBron James-less Lakers team. This could be something to pay attention to come playoff time, although it’s unlikely to happen.

(42:40) Just four days into the baseball season, I’m already living a dark, twisted nightmare. My beloved Mets are 0-3 and the Yankees are 4-0. I’ll explain further as to why this is the case. I’ll discuss some early suspension for two pitchers (Mets Yohan Ramirez and Blue Jays Genesis Cabrera), which teams had a good weekend and who didn’t?

(53:06) On the ice, we’re down to about seven or eight games left of this long season. Are the Rangers the best team in the NHL at the moment? Are they peaking at the right time? I’ll get into their chances of competing for a Cup and take a trip to see what teams are in good stead for making the playoffs, who’s on the cusp and who’s fallen off completely?

(1:02:52) Lastly, there are a few NFL news and notes to dive into. I like the new kickoff rule (adopted from the XFL) Reviewing intentional grounding, roughing the passer and hits out of bounds (Ok?) Moving the trade deadline up to Week 9 (Fine.) Some acquistions last week, highlighted by the Jets acquiring Eagles pass rusher, Haason Reddick (Alright!) Here’s comes the cold water. The Eagles opener in Sao Paolo, Brazil, the Friday game after the likely Chiefs raising the curtain on the season the day before, will be aired on Peacock. (What?!) And there will be two games on Christmas Day, but the holiday falls on a Wednesday! (SERIOUSLY!?) What’s next? A game every day on the NFL calendar?

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with Olipop soda? If not, you’ll definitely want to acquaint yourself with this healthy, crisp and refreshing beverage that has no GMO’s, organic with natural ingredients that you can read. Houston Survives, One True Cinderella As Madness Exhales. The Race For Seeding In NBA. Seven Teams Fight For NHL’s President’s Trophy. MLB Over/Unders. Chiefs Trade Top CB

It’s a big week for yours truly as I’ll close out the first quarter of the year with the first of two podcasts coming your way with all that’s happening in the sports universe. On deck:

(4:00) We can all exhale from the Madness of March that took place over the past 96 hours. I’ll get into the micro and macro of the past four days (the four #1 seeds still alive, including Houston hanging on against Texas A&M. CORRECTION: I mentioned Texas Tech, NOT Texas A&M at times as the team that faced Houston. My apologies for the egregious error. Purdue could be Final Four ready.) The Cinderella teams couldn’t make it to a Sweet Sixteen (other than #11 NC State) I’ll get into how the SEC & Mountain West got destroyed. Has Kentucky coach John Calipari’s star fallen after another inexplicable first round exit? The three Big East teams has showed up and showed out. (UCONN, Marquette & Creighton) as we now wait for the tournament to tip off come Thursday. I’ll also see what’s happening with the women’s tourney, although I don’t have much to unpack.

(26:19) The NBA is going to lay in the weeds over the next week or so, since it’s being swallowed up by March Madness. Is the return of Russell Westbrook going to move the needle in the Association? I’ll take a peek at a few intriguing races (the 3-5 seeds in the East, the top 3 out West and can the Rockets overtake the Warriors for the final play-in spot?)

(39:41) Don’t look now, but there are seven teams in the NHL that are separated by one point for the President’s Trophy as the best regular season team in the league? Is this something to hang your hat on, considering that past teams who’ve held that distinction, haven’t won a Stanley Cup? I’ll check what else is happening, especially with the playoff races in both conferences as we down to about a dozen games or so in the season.

(46:40) The curtain on the 2024 MLB season is on the horizon. First pitch is set for this Thursday across the sport. I’ll review the over/under win totals for all teams in light of my baseball preview on Thursday, which I’ll select three overs and three under. I’ll share my thoughts of the Mets signing DH JD Martinez. Brewer fans will have to wait until next year to see their stud starting pitcher, Brandon Woodruff. And pay respects to former Orioles owner, Peter Angelos, who passed away at the age of 94.

(56:08) A trade of note forthcoming in the NFL as the Chiefs are reported to deal CB L’Jarius Sneed to Tennessee for two draft picks in the upcoming draft next month. How big of a loss this will be for the defending Super Bowl Champions?

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with Olipop soda? Road To The Final Four With Predictions As Madness Begins. Two Tragedies Rock NHL. Ohtani Gambling Controversy With Interpreter? NFL Signings. College Expands Playoff To 14

There’s plenty of sports Madness to unpack and then some, as the latest episode comes your way. On deck:

(3:45) The Madness has arrived that is the NCAA Tournament. I’ll break down the four brackets. Who has it rough? (UCONN) Who does not? (Purdue) What bracket is wide open? (South) Which teams could be sleepers? (Grand Canyon & James Madison, anyone?) But in the end, who do I think will be part of the Final Four in Phoenix two weeks from Saturday. I’ll share a brief thought on the women’s tournament as I would think that ESPN would want to see an LSU-South Carolina championship game, with LSU & Iowa (and Caitlin Clark) to play in the regional final.

(26:43) As for the pros, it’s been a low key week, despite the Celtics hanging on to beat the Bucks without Giannis last night. I’ll look at what the schedule has over the next few days as the NBA will get swallowed by college basketball over the next couple of weeks.

(29:40) Sadly, there were two tragedies in the NHL this week. Konstantin Koltsov, who played for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the mid 2000’s and was dating #2 women’s tennis player in the world Aryna Sabalenka, died on Monday at the age of 42. Then there was Chris Simon, who won a Stanley Cup with Colorado in 1996 and one of the toughest players in the history of the league, died later shortly after Koltsov at the age of 52. Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews is not only gunning for an MVP, but also a 70 goal season as he netted two vs. Washington last night and currently has 56. In the same game, Alexander Ovechkin scored a pair and needs just 50 goals to surpass Wayne Gretzky as the all time leader in goals scored throughout a career. There’s a big matchup on Saturday night as the Florida Panthers will visit the NY Rangers as both teams jockey for positioning in the Eastern Conference.

(44:25) Don’t look now, but the MLB season has begun. Not here in the States, but in Korea as you had the Dodgers-Padres play a two game series. The bigger story is the firing of star Shohei Ohtani’s interpreter, based on gambling debts that he owes and Ohtani having money stolen from his account to pay those wagers. Was Ohtani involved? Did he have a clue that his interpreter was gambling and that money was transferred out of his account? This will generate more buzz as the Dodgers arrive back to US soil. I’ll suggest what Ohtani and the Dodgers should do to avoid a complete firestorm with the media which will surely inquire as to how much Ohtani was involved in this situation.

(52:21) There are a couple of NFL signings to unwrap (WR Mike Williams to the Jets. Chase Young to the Saints) And another retirement to report as Cowboys LB Leighton Vander Esch had to step down because his body wouldn’t cooperate as he was dealing with a serious neck injury.

(55:43) Before you can experience a 12 team playoff in college football, all nine conferences have agreed to approve a 14 team playoff starting in 2026. ESPN just inked a seven year deal until 2031-32 season for $7.8 billion dollars, so we know what this all boils down to! The GREEN!

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with Olipop soda? Madness Takeaways: Big East Snubs, UCONN’s Tough Bracket & Purdue’s Easy Path. Steelers Shock With Pickett & Fields Trades. MLB In Korea. Game Clock Issues In LA?

Spring is officially arriving tomorrow, but right now is the latest podcast detailing ALL that’s happening in the sports universe. On deck:

(4:16) We can finally usher out the Sports Dead Zone, Part 1 (at least until summer) and begin a huge stretch of sports talk over the next few months. Jump starting that is the Madness of March. The NCAA Tournament tips off tomorrow night with the First Four, and in earnest, on Thursday with the first of two days of college basketball from 12 noon to 1:00am. I’ll discuss the top three storylines of the selection process (Mountain West over Big East), UCONN’s tough bracket to defend their title. And Purdue’s cakewalk to a Final Four, considering how their bracket unfolded. I’ll get into the whole bracket on Thursday’s pod, so this is the appetizer to set you up for the main course later in the week. I’ll take a peek at how I was disappointed of the selection committee on the women’s side, where they have Iowa and LSU in the same bracket and not different brackets.

(24:36) What has gone on in Pittsburgh this offseason? It’s almost as if the Steelers have had an identity shift. I say that because just the past few days alone, they traded their former #1 pick Kenny Pickett to the Eagles. Then surprised me in acquiring Justin Fields of the Bears for what? A sixth round pick? I’ll unpack all of what GM Omar Khan has done to date and assess how this was a change from the front office that even their biggest fans didn’t expect? I’ll discuss what the Vikings did by picking up another first round pick (via Houston) Some other key signings/trades that transpired. And the retirement of Rams DT Aaron Donald, who called it a career on Friday after ten years in STL & LA.

(41:43) As much as we’re looking forward for the baseball season to start next Thursday, it actually starts on Wednesday. That’s right! The Dodgers-Padres will kick off 2024 in Korea for two games. Am I cool with MLB throwing out the first pitch outside of American soil? The Yankees dodged a potential catastrophe to their starting rotation regarding the health to Cy Young ace Gerrit Cole, but do they still look for reinforcements since the aforementioned will be out for at least a month? Then Mets owner, Steve Cohen, addressed the media to announce that 1B Pete Alonso will likely not be signed before Opening Day. YOU KNOW that I have something to say about that with the season starting in ten days.

(52:27) The Association is rather low key, despite a wild and inexplicable final two minutes of the Warriors-Lakers game because of game clock and shot clock malfunctions as the Dubs won in LA. Speaking of LA, the Clippers have hit the skids, losing 4 of 5 and not having an identity, as stated by Paul George. What’s going on there? I’ll see where we’re at throughout the league with the latest in the standings as we’re about a month away from the conclusion of the NBA season.

(59:30) Besides my Islanders going through a bad stretch of late, falling out of the Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference (albeit a point in the standings as of this moment), the NHL is status quo as I’ll take a trip around the ice as they head into the homestretch.

(1:03:23) With The Masters teeing up three weeks from this coming Thursday, the TPC at Sawgrass took place over the weekend. Scottie Scheffler is the first player ever to win back to back as he shot -20 and a 64 in the final round as he’s primed for another run as the top golfer on the tour. NOTE: I mentioned that Scheffler won the Masters last year. It was in 2022. Jon Rahm won last year. My apologies for the error.

(1:04:57) Although it’s not a Grand Slam in the world of tennis, the winners at Indian Wells were Iga Swiatek on the women’s side and Carlos Alcaraz (who stopped Jannik Sinner’s 19 match consecutive streak) captured the men’s title as both winners look to build on their victories with the French Open two months away.

Tale Of NFL/MLB Free Agency: Cousins Jackpot. Snell/Montgomery NOT. Yanks Await Cole’s Fate. A Kansas Collapse. Kawhi Injury On High Alert. Matt Rempe’s Suspension & Expansion In ATL?

The ides of March are here. Daylight extends past 7pm. Spring is officially five days away. What could be better than that? Yes. Another podcast with yours truly unpacking all that’s happening in the world of sports. On deck:

(4:14) NFL free agency came in roaring like a lion as there was plenty of activity over the past few days, highlighted by the Atlanta Falcons huge signing of QB Kirk Cousins. He got a four year/$180 million dollar deal, which begs the question. Does he really deserve it, coming off an Achilles injury at the age of 36? Then Saquon Barkley takes his talents to Philadelphia which will ratchet up the rivalry between his former team (NY Giants) and his current one. The Baltimore Ravens may have secured the final piece to their Super Bowl puzzle by inking Derrick Henry to a two year deal. What does this mean for Lamar Jackson & co. I’ll go through all of the top deals that took place since Monday as the NFL is front and center to kick us off on the podcast.

(26:11) On the other side of the coin, MLB hasn’t figured out its free agency period as there are TWO top pitchers unsigned (Blake Snell & Jordan Montgomery) now that we’re two weeks away from Opening Day. That ties into what the Yankees may have to decide with the possibility of having to shut down their ace, Gerrit Cole, for an apparent elbow issue. What does this mean for the Bombers if Cole is going to be on the shelf for half a season or the entire year? Plus, the Brewers got bad news as their closer, Devin Williams, will be out for three months due to stress fractures in his back.

(39:00) With conference championship week in full bloom when it comes to college basketball, the Kansas Jayhawks have fallen on hard times as they lost to Cincinnati last night. They’re 22-10 this year. Is this team at the bubble of making/missing the tournament? Will Michigan State, who’s on the bubble, make it to March Madness? And a note for the selection committee on the women’s game. Please have Iowa, South Carolina and LSU in three separate regions, if you want to avoid any criticism from people like myself and beyond.

(46:20) Clippers forward, Kawhi Leonard is hurt (back) and will be out for quite some time. How crucial is this loss during the regular season if he’s not going to be in the lineup? I’ll see what else is happening on the hardwood as we get to the homestretch with the playoffs awaiting a month or so from now.

(51:39) As for the NHL, Rangers tough guy Matt Rempe received a four game suspension for an elbow on a New Jersey Devils player Monday night. Was it too harsh for a first time offense? The Canucks will be without their top goaltender, Thatcher Demko, with a knee injury as they try to secure the #1 seed out West. And why is the city of Atlanta looking for another expansion team as they’ve failed two times previously?

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with Olipop soda? Key NBA Injuries Impacting Playoff Chase? NHL’s Red Hot Panthers: Peaking Too Soon? Big Time Trades Upon Deadline. Will Red Sox Flirt With Snell? NFL Preps For Free Agency. Paul-Tyson Fight Hype?

Getting through the dread of this slow time in sports, but nevertheless, I’ve got you covered as the latest episode has arrived. On deck:

(2:51) The Association has had a quiet week (well, the Celtics blew a 22 point fourth quarter lead, snapping their 11 game winning streak) but there have been a few injuries that could affect the final stretch of the regular season. You have LeBron James, Karl Anthony Towns, Evan Mobley, Victor Wembanyama to a lesser degree, even Ben Simmons (who was shut down due to his ongoing back issues). How vital of a role will these injuries be for the first three players listed as far as the long term is concerned? The Orlando Magic have played well, winners of five in a row and is currently fourth in the Eastern Conference. Besides that, all is status quo in the league.

(18:54) As for college basketball, there isn’t much to discuss as there haven’t been any upsets, big losses or anything newsworthy over the past three days. I’ve received a lot of blowback from fans regarding Caitlin Clark’s NCAA scoring record, that it should have an asterisk.

(21:54) On the ice, the trade deadline in the NHL is tomorrow afternoon. There’s been plenty of transactions that have taken place this week. Tops in the sport at the moment are the Florida Panthers, who have been on a torrid stretch over the last couple of months. They have the most wins and points the league as of today. They’ve also acquired reinforcements by brining in Vladimir Tarasenko from Ottawa for another Cup run. Have they peaked a bit early? Any potential dangers of not going far in the playoffs? Several contending teams (i.e. Avalanche, Rangers, Golden Knights, Oilers) have made moves. What about the Jets, Stars, Hurricanes, Bruins and Maple Leafs jumping into the fray of making a key move before the deadline?

(34:30) The Red Sox main acquisition this offseason (pitcher Lucas Giolito) will be sidelined for the entire 2024 year with a partial torn elbow ligament. Will ownership, whose priorities seem to be elsewhere other than their own ball club, consider adding either Blake Snell or Jordan Montgomery to their anemic pitching staff? Yankees hurler Carlos Rodon hasn’t had a good spring to compound his awful first year in pinstripes last year. Aaron Boone still sees some positives after his not so stellar performance yesterday. Is anyone else tired of the managers act? Reigning MVP Ronald Acuna Jr’s knee is doing fine and won’t miss a ton of time. There were two retirements over the last 24 hours or so. Former MVP Josh Donaldson called it quits after 13 years. Same for catcher Mike Zunino, who had a solid career in Tampa Bay, Seattle and Cleveland, walks off into the sunset after 11 years.

(42:18) NFL fans, get ready! The ‘new season’ commences on Wednesday as teams continue to cut payroll/players. The big one being soon to be former Broncos QB Russell Wilson. Where could he end up? We say goodbye to Eagles center Jason Kelce as he retires after 13 seasons in Philadelphia. I’ll take a peek on who else has been let go as teams gear up for free agency.

(47:17) It’s been reported that Jake Paul will fight Mike Tyson in an exhibition match on July 20th, to be streamed on Netflix in Arlington, TX (aka Jerry’s World/AT&T Stadium) They’re hyping this as the biggest boxing match in history. Does anyone really believe that?

LeBron Passes 40K. Best NBA Career Ever? Celtics Pressure Mounts With Win Streak. Caitlin Clark Record With * Fighting In NHL Making A Comeback? Giants Ink Chapman. Passing Of NFL Insider Legend

Back in high gear to get a new month started, I’ll bring the pain on all that’s going on in the sports world with the latest podcast. On deck:

(2:56) As we turn the calendar to March, basketball is at the top of the sports food chain with plenty to unpack. LeBron James has surpassed the 40,000 point mark in his illustrious career. Does he hold the mantle of having the greatest NBA tenure in the history of the sport? More than Kareem? More than Jordan? The Boston Celtics are on a torrid 11 game winning streak at the moment. They have a 48-12 record, almost comparable to the 1986 championship team. Is the pressure mounting by the win? Also, who’s a key component/X-factor on the C’s to take them to a title? Russell Westbrook will be out indefinitely with the Clippers. Is that a huge loss? Knicks Jalen Brunson injured his knee in Cleveland last night. Will he be out for any significant time? I’ll take a look at what’s going on throughout the Association in each conference when it comes to playoff seeding at the moment.

(26:23) Top seeded Houston Cougars will remain #1 in the nation going into this week. If you’re Kansas, another loss this week (vs. Baylor) will put them out of the Top 10 for the first time in a while. Any concern about their length when it comes to March Madness. Caitlin Clark is now at the top of the scoring mountain when it comes to NCAA college basketball, eclipsing Pete Maravich’s record 54 years ago. Why I don’t take that record seriously. In fact, there are two reasons as I’ll explain.

(33:53) It’s been an exciting and interesting two weeks for NY Rangers rookie tough guy, Matt Rempe. He’s been the talk of the NHL, culminating in a fight against arguably the toughest enforcer in the league, Ryan Reaves Saturday night in Toronto. Why this has been a boon for hockey, no matter how much they don’t want to admit it, but more so for the fight fan, is this sustainable? The Canucks sign one of their top players to a long term deal (Elias Patterson 8 for $92.8 million dollars) The Florida Panthers invade MSG tonight to go at it against the Rangers for the top spot in the East. The Oilers continue to play well in the Pacific Division as they’re nine points from the first place Canucks with four games in hand. I’ll see what else is taking place on the ice as the trade deadline looms for teams to pick up reinforcements come Friday.

(47:13) Another top free agent is off the market as Matt Chapman signs with the Giants. Was this a must get for San Francisco as they compete in a tough NL West? Is Blake Snell headed for the City of Brotherly Love, as rumor has it he may head there on a short term deal? The Phillies have already extended Zack Wheeler to a three year/$126 million dollar deal. What will happen to Snell or Jordan Montgomery as we’re already into March? Are there concerns on the latest knee injury regarding reigning NL MVP Ronald Acuna Jr.?

(52:39) Sad news on and off the field in the NFL. Longtime insider for ESPN, Chris Mortensen passed away at 72. As well as, Steeler LB Andy Russell who was a part of the first two Super Bowl wins in Pittsburgh, dies at 82. Buccaneers WR Mike Evans stays in Tampa for 2 years/$52 million. And Steelers GM Omar Khan has complete faith in QB, Kenny Pickett, to the chagrin of other talking head/Steeler fans out here (ahem, Stephen A. Smith) overreacting to this news as I delve into this.

Huge Laker Win? Or Epic Clipper Loss? LeBron On Cusp Of 40K Points. Brutal Kansas Loss At Home. NHL’s Jets On The Move? MLB’s See Through Uni’s? Save Or Trade Justin Fields? Top RB’s Seeking Payday!

On this special episode considering today is Leap Year (February 29th), I’ll close out another month with top notch sports talk on the eve of the podcast’s sixth anniversary. On deck:

(2:52) As I mentioned in the previous paragraph, tomorrow is the sixth anniversary of the podcast. It goes without saying that I THANK ALL OF YOU, who have supported me since day one or if it was your first day! I appreciate you being a part of this journey as I continue to put forth quality, entertaining content over the next year. I’ll also share a potential partnership that could be official by Monday, so you’ll have to stay tuned to find out more.

(4:19) The Lakers had an enormous fourth quarter comeback win against their cross the hall rival, Clippers. Was it an epic rally by the Lakers? Or a massive collapse by the Clips? Plus, is this going to be a springboard for LeBron & co. (who’s 40 points from reaching 40K points for his career) to move up the standings? What about for the league? Is this a signature game for the Association? Does anyone care? I’ll get into the crazy win by the Cavaliers, with Max Strus’s half court heave to shock the Mavericks. How important is it for the Cavs to shoot for the #2 seed in the East? Luka Doncic erased that loss with a 30 point triple double vs. Toronto on his 25th birthday. Chris Paul returned from his broken left hand to contribute in a win vs. Washington. Can his addition propel them north out West? I’ll even review how my over/under win totals are doing as we’re two thirds into this NBA season.

(27:12) #7 ranked Kansas had an inexplicable home loss vs. BYU earlier this week. Does this bode well for them as we enter the month of March as a team that could go back to a Final Four? It was good to see Duke center Kyle Filipowski return after a scare over the weekend as he was injured in a scrum when the Wake Forest fans stormed the court. #11 Auburn lose on the road at Tennessee. And Texas won in Lubbock vs. Texas Tech, but not without a dustup between two players that led to flagrant fouls, including a technical foul from the CROWD!?

(32:40) As for the NHL, not much has transpired since Monday’s pod. Although the Rangers have tied the Canucks for the most points by a team in the sport. Actually the Rangers have the most wins to date (40).  The MVP race is hot and heavy as it could come down to Leafs Auston Matthews, Lightning Nikita Kucherov, Avalanche Nathan MacKinnon or Oilers Connor McDavid. The big news is could we see the Winnipeg Jets leave town at some point down the road, based on some comments by their ownership via the commissioner, Gary Bettman?

(41:48) Do I really have to get into the MLB’s issue with see through uniforms as that was brought up over the past weekend? The Dodgers have made some roster moves, sending Manuel Margot to Minnesota and bringing back utility player, Kike Hernandez. And Shohei Ohtani recently got married as he admitted to add to his first home run of the spring.

(44:47) There have been quite a few things percolating in the NFL this week. The Bears have a huge decision forthcoming as they can trade current QB Justin Fields to bring back a surplus of picks in order to select QB Caleb Williams with the #1 overall pick. Or do they keep Fields and bring back more picks by trading down? I definitely have a lot to say about this. Then you have some high profile running backs (I.e. Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs to name a few) that are looking for big paydays. Considering the pounding they take, will they get their worth when it’s all said and done? Could the Jets file tampering charges against the Chiefs in regards to Mecole Hardman’s recent comments to ‘come get me’ to Chief personnel? They’ve also cut Marques Valdez-Scantling. And have been recently ranked next to last in the NFL as a franchise based on a recent poll. How is this possible?

Trust In Celtics? Can OKC/T-Wolves Take Next Step? Lakers/Dubs Staying Power Lead NBA Second Half? UConn Loss: Concerns? Rangers Cup Threat? College’s 12 Team Playoff. Mahomes Rule? Ohtani Overload?

Inching closer to the end of another month, but also the beginning of the latest podcast as I dive into all that’s happening in sports. On deck:

(2:53) With the ‘second half’ of the NBA season tipping off tonight, I’ll get into a breakdown of what to expect in both conferences as we march on to mid-April before the start of the playoffs. Are the Boston Celtics to be trusted to finally win an elusive championship? Can the Cleveland Cavaliers be a threat in the East? What about the Milwaukee Bucks? The Philadelphia Seventy-Sixers? How about the defending Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat? Out west, can the Minnesota Timberwolves or Oklahoma City Thunder represent in an NBA Finals? Will the Denver Nuggets defend their title? How about the LA Clippers getting to their first ever NBA Finals? You can’t forget about the LA Lakers or Golden State Warriors. Do they have staying power if they get into the postseason? So much to answer and I’ll have an in-depth look as to how this’ll play out over the last couple of months.

(26:00) As for college basketball, #1 UCONN suffers a rough road loss at #15 Creighton. Any concerns or worries about the Huskies? Also, #17 Kentucky loses to LSU on a last second shot as the unpredictability of this college season continues to rear its ugly head.

(31:18) On the ice, the New York Rangers are the hottest team in the NHL, winners of eight straight. Is this the year that they finally get to a Stanley Cup Final, considering what’s taken place over the last two seasons? I know the Florida Panthers are nipping at the heels of the Bruins and Rangers in the conference, winners of six straight as they try to get back to a Final. Auston Matthews has been on a goal scoring tear (had two last night in Arizona. Currently 51 on pace for 75). Alexander Ovechkin scored two goals vs. New Jersey the other night as he’s 56 goals away from tying Wayne Gretzky all time in the sport’s history. How many will he need to get this season in order to reach him next year? I’ll check on what else is going on in the league as they’re past the two-thirds point of the regular season.

(43:33) College football has their 12 team playoff format mapped out, but now there’s some discussion about expanding it to 14 in 2026? What!?

(48:57) In the late 1980’s, early 90’s, we had the Jordan Rules, where the Detroit Pistons did their best to defend Chicago Bulls legend, Michael Jordan. Fast forward thirty some odd years later, Las Vegas Raiders coach, Antonio Pierce, has the self proclaimed, Mahomes Rule after beating them on Christmas Day, their last prior to running the table winning the Super Bowl. Has he found the formula to slow or stop the Chiefs QB? Was this premature of him to say?

(54:12) Spring training is well underway throughout the MLB. Can we please stop with ALL of the attention regarding Shohei Ohtani’s batting practice home run in his first camp as an LA Dodger? Seriously!? Then there were the comments by Angels 3B, Anthony Rendon, stating that baseball isn’t his priority. WHAT!? Is there any concern in Yankee-land over Aaron Judge’s comments regarding his big toe that he injured in Dodger Stadium last June? Saying that he has to manage it over the upcoming season. You had former Royals 1B, Eric Hosmer announce his retirement. And here we go with the Mets. Projected ace, Kodai Senga has to be put on the shelf due to arm fatigue. ARM FATIGUE!? (It has been announced after the recording that he’ll likely be on the IL to start the season) As a diehard fan, you can’t make it up!

NBA’s 200 Point All-Star Debacle! Islanders Choke In Outdoor Game Loss To Rangers. Purdue Goes Down. UCONN: Team To Beat. Alonso Wants Mets, But Vice Versa? Matsuyama’s 62 Wins Wacky Genesis

Another holiday Monday presents a wild hour of sports talk as we transition away from the NFL with all of the latest happenings in the sports universe as I’ll unpack the following:

(3:00) It was a rough weekend for the NBA as they had to deal with a repeat slam dunk champion (Mac McClung) who’s in the G-League! Plus, an All-Star Game that had one team score over 200 POINTS as the East beat the West. What can they do to fix it? Is it too late to do so? Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn has been relieved of his duties. Was it fair? Then you have the finalists for the Naismith Hall of Fame which includes Vince Carter and Chauncey Billups. Why I think both wouldn’t be enshrined in Springfield if it was up to me? The Association is still on a respite as the schedule will pick up on Thursday.

(22:50) You had another stunner in college basketball as #2 Purdue loses to Ohio State, with an interim coach, no less. Does this hurt them for a #1 come tournament time? #1 UCONN is surely looking like a team that’s going to defend their title as they destroyed #4 Marquette in historic fashion. How about Rick Pitino, the head coach of St. John’s? They lost to Seton Hall last night and are now 6-9 in the conference. He had plenty of choice words for his team, calling it a disappointing year, stating how unathletic they are, lacking toughness, going in on his squad as they try to fight for a spot in the tournament. Caitlin Clark sets the women’s record all time for scoring in the sport, eclipsing Kelsey Plum in the process. And sad news as former Maryland coach, Lefty Driesell passed away at age 92.

(30:45) The NHL had a huge weekend with two outdoor games in the same venue. I’ll unwrap the Flyers-Devils meeting on Saturday night, with the second game being a nail biter where the Islanders blew a golden opportunity to beat their crosstown rival Rangers, 6-5 in OT. I was a witness to the latter game. How much that loss stings even a day later may come as a surprise? Also, the nerve of the Ranger fan, sounding like they’ve won 6 or 7 Stanley Cups as I had to deal with them for three plus hours yesterday. Don’t look now, but the Panthers have overtaken the Bruins in the Atlantic Division for the first time since the end of the 2021-22 season. I’ll see what else is happening in the other divisions and keep you up to speed on the latest.

(46:26) With position players reporting throughout the MLB, I have to throw in my two cents regarding Mets 1B, Pete Alonso and his desire to be a lifelong Met. I call out both the VP of baseball ops, David Stearns and of course, the owner, Steve Cohen to put his money where his mouth is as he’s stated in the past that he wants to operate his team like the Braves & Dodgers, to name a couple. There were two low level signings, (Whit Merrifield to Phillies and Liam Hendricks to the Red Sox) as spring training is in full swing.

(54:40) There was a golf tournament over the weekend in LA at the Genesis Invitational. It wasn’t a major, but you had some interesting developments regarding a couple of players. Tiger Woods had to withdraw with an illness after two rounds. Is this the last of Tiger being a dominant fixture on the course? You also had Jordan Spieth disqualified due to an erroneous scorecard. But your winner was Hideki Matsuyama who shot a 62 in the final round to win the tournament as we’re still six or seven weeks from Augusta.

(57:41) The Super Bowl of Racing had to be postponed due to inclement weather at the Daytona 500. They’ll race at 4pm today/Monday. Does this hurt the biggest racing event of the year?

(58:42) UFC had a surprise on Saturday night as Ilia Topuria stunned Alexander Volkanovski in a knockout that I’m sure quite a few didn’t expect. Is a rematch in order at some point in the not too distant future?

Mass Shooting Mars Chiefs Parade. Shanahan/Lynch Fall Guy For Super Bowl Loss. LeBron Rumor To Golden St? KD: Curry Top 5 All Time? Caitlin Clark Chasing History. NHL Stadium Series Upcoming

On this day after Valentine’s, the lovefest continues as I dissect and share all that’s happening in sports. On deck:

(3:14) We make the pivot to The Sports Dead Zone, Pt. 1 (Post Super Bowl and right before the NCAA Tournament or Opening Day of the MLB season) as I spend a moment discussing this.

(6:03) What was supposed to be another celebratory parade through Kansas City with their third title in five years, turned out to be a nightmare as a mass shooting occurred nearby the festivities to where one person was killed and 22 others injured. When will this country wake up and take a stand to these senseless shootings? Then the San Francisco 49ers fired their defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. He’s the fall guy for the Niners losing the Super Bowl on Sunday. I have a major problem with this, so I’ll go in on the GM John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan as Wilks did not deserve this fate.

(15:46) The NBA will head into the All-Star Break after a few games tonight. Will I be watching? You had the rumor that the Warriors were interested in acquiring LeBron James at the trade deadline last week. Why I’m glad that didn’t take place? A few days ago, Kevin Durant stated that former teammate Steph Curry is a top-5 all time player? Is he accurate with that statement? Then you had Pistons center, Isaiah Stewart assault Suns Drew Eubanks BEFORE the game in Phoenix last night. How did this all come about? I’ll survey the basketball landscape as the league takes a respite for the next week.

(30:53) As for college basketball, another top team falls by the wayside (I.e. #7 North Carolina) Tonight, history will likely be made as Iowa’s Caitlin Clark will break the all time scoring record in women’s college basketball. Is she considered one of the great women’s players of all time?

(35:18) It’s a big weekend for the NHL as there’s not one, but two, outdoor games as the Stadium Series will occur at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey. Saturday night will have the Flyers visiting the Devils, while Sunday afternoon, the Islanders are the home team against the Rangers. Will these games be sold out? What about the weather for both matchups? I have to get into the aftermath of the cross check of Morgan Rielly to Ridley Greig, which garnered a five game suspension to the Maple Leafs Rielly. Did the punishment fit the crime? And what could be done to stop incidents like this? I’ll check on who’s hot and who’s not on the ice as the season is just about two-thirds done.

(44:20) Pitchers and catchers have reported throughout the MLB. There’s one notable player that may have a slow start to their upcoming year. Astros pitcher, Justin Verlander is behind schedule on a shoulder issue. Is anyone surprised? Is yours truly into this early part of spring training with position players reporting in five days? What about big time free agents that are still out there? (I.e. Blake Snell, Cody Ballinger and Matt Chapman)

Complete Super Bowl LVIII Preview & Taylor Swift Tracker? NFL Opens In Brazil On A FRIDAY? NBA Trade Deadline Surprises? Oilers Layoff Throttles History. MLB Deals Involving Witt Jr. & Altuve

It’ll be a SUPER podcast as we cap off the final game of the NFL season and everything else happening in sports. On deck:

(3:05) A way too early pregame show on CBS. A Taylor Tracker monitoring pop’s biggest superstar’s arrival in Las Vegas. And, oh yes, there is a football game being played Sunday night in Sin City between the San Francisco 49ers vs. Kansas City Chiefs. I’ll have a complete breakdown of what the keys will be for both teams, matchups to look for and who’ll win the 58th version of the big game. I’ll also share my thoughts on the halftime show with Usher headlining the festivities, the commercials, how this’ll be the most watched television show in history, color commentator Tony Romo, among other things that surround Super Sunday. I must add my two cents on the NFL, not only playing in Brazil as we know, but when they’re playing this game. A Friday? Seriously?

(36:21) The trade deadline in the NBA has arrived. By 3pm today, we would expect some wheeling and dealing as teams look for reinforcements for the stretch run of the regular season. Will the Sixers make a play for Bulls guard, DeMar DeRozan with reigning MVP Joel Embiid on the shelf for the next four weeks?

(43:52) #3 Kansas Jayhawks become another top team in college basketball to suffer a loss as in-state rival Kansas St. defeated them earlier this week. With all of the unpredictability of the sport this year, can we even project who the four #1 seeds are if the season ended today?

(46:21) After a long All-Star Break layoff, the Edmonton Oilers were unable to match the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins for the longest winning streak in NHL history as they fell a game short, losing to the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday night. The Vancouver Canucks continue their winning ways, with newly acquired Elias Lindholm making a contribution, as they’re playing well above anyone ever imagined coming into this season.

(50:45) With pitchers and catchers ready to report a week from now, there were two signings of note in the MLB. Royals shortstop, Bobby Witt Jr. inked an 11 year/$288.7 million dollar deal. And Jose Altuve will stay put in Houston as he signed on for a five year/$125 million dollar contract. Please subscribe, leave a rating and post a review on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Audacy, Amazon Music and iHeartRadio or wherever you get your podcasts.

Mahomes/Reid Rarefied Air? Shanahan/49ers Title Drought Lead Super Bowl Storylines. Embiid's Absence, Lakers Turning The Corner? College B-Ball Back On Sports Map? Orioles Get A Much Needed Ace

Get ready for some big sports news and up to the second info on the podcast as I'll pack a huge wallop on this recent episode for your edification. On deck:

(3:00) I have to apprise you folks of some housekeeping prior to getting into sports. There's an upgrade to the podcast, which includes a VIDEO component on my YouTube channel (link below) starting next Monday. Also, some other news that WILL come as a surprise, so you have to tune in to hear what it's all about.

(5:58) Super Bowl Week has arrived. Both the Kansas City Chiefs & San Francisco 49ers have descended down on Sin City, Las Vegas as the 58th version of the big game is set for Sunday at Allegiant Stadium. I'll introduce some interesting storylines (i.e. a rematch from the game four years ago, Andy Reid & Patrick Mahomes about to reach rarefied air, Kyle Shanahan's attempt to win his first Bowl, the Niners title drought, among many others) There's plenty of time to breakdown the game itself, which I'll do on Thursday's podcast, so today will focus on the headlines that will be discussed all week as we prepare for the final game of the NFL season. In coaching news, the Washington Commanders hired former Cowboys defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn to patrol the sidelines in DC. Was this a smart hire? Was it a good hire? CORRECTION: I made a mention of Andy Reid’s son being involved in a fatal car accident. It was NOT fatal. The little girl involved was severely injured. My apologies for the erroneous comment.

(26:37) There have been some developments in the Association over the past week, with the big one being reigning MVP, Joel Embiid. He suffered a knee injury and had to get surgery to repair a torn meniscus. How his absence will affect not just the Sixers, but the Eastern Conference overall. The Lakers have had two huge road wins in Boston and New York against the Knicks. Are they starting to turn the corner? In three days, the NBA trade deadline will arrive. I'll get into which names are being thrown around as teams look for reinforcements for the stretch run of the season. As well as, Bradley Beal's triumphant return to Washington in his first visit back from his playing days with the Wizards.

(39:08) College basketball is starting to take more notice as North Carolina-Duke renewed their long standing rivalry on Saturday night, with the Tar Heels winning in the Dean Dome. With quite a few blue bloods (i.e. North Carolina, Kansas, Duke, Kentucky) ranked in the Top 25, is that good for the casual college b-ball fan, unlike last year?

(43:11) The NHL is coming out of their All-Star Break with the 'second half' picking up tonight. I'll take a look at what the remainder of the season looks like for teams that may take some big leaps (i.e. Vancouver, Winnipeg, Boston) and others that are scrambling or jockeying for playoff positioning. What about the Edmonton Oilers trying to make history after a ten day layoff to go for a record 17 game winning streak tomorrow night in Vegas?

(51:54) With pitchers and catchers reporting in a week and a half, the Baltimore Orioles made a significant trade in bringing in former Milwaukee Brewers ace, Corbin Burnes. Is it their division to lose again, after winning the AL East last year?

Bengals Must Win, Bills Un-Playoff Bound? Browns Bad Luck Leads Week 11. Georgia/WSH Headline College Saturday. Tired Of Draymond's Antics. Same For Yankee GM Cashman. Isles Coach On Plank?

Closing out another week with plenty of passion and fire to what the sports world has contributed over the past few days as the latest podcast is here. On deck:

(3:08) NFL Week 11 kicks off with an intriguing AFC North matchup as the Bengals visit the Ravens tonight, in a absolute must win for Cincinnati. There are a couple of storylines that have taken place over the last few days. The Buffalo Bills dropped to 5-5 on Monday night, which poses the question, are they in danger of missing the playoffs? What about the Cleveland Browns luck? After one of the bigger regular season games that they've won in quite some time against Baltimore on Sunday, they lose their starting QB, Deshaun Watson to a fracture in his throwing shoulder. Do they have enough to get by and make it to the postseason? I'll get into some of the key games on the schedule this week, including a Super Bowl matchup on Monday night as the Eagles visit the Chiefs.

(20:57) College football only has two games of note this Saturday (Georgia-Tennessee & Washington-Oregon St.) that could impact the college football playoff mix. We're still a few weeks away from figuring who'll make it and who won't, but I'll touch on what may lie ahead as the season is down to its final few weeks.

(26:39) Is anyone else sick of the antics and chicanery of Warriors forward Draymond Green? He was suspended for his involvement in a fracas with Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert where he received a five game layoff. When does it ever stop when it comes to the temperament of Green? I'll make a mention of an aspect of what I don't like about the in-season tournament as the Sixers are done with the Celtics playing in Philadelphia. Also, do we have to keep an eye on the health of Lakers big man Anthony Davis, after a putrid performance vs. Sacramento last night and not blaming it on a recent hip injury?

(37:18) College basketball is back in our consciousness. I'll briefly touch on the first week of the season and go over some teams to pay attention to.

(40:04) The MLB offseason/Hot Stove will start to heat up in the weeks to come. One thing that has me heated is how Yankee GM Brian Cashman has acted over the last week. Between calling his front office "pretty effing good" to calling out the health of one of his players (Giancarlo Stanton) how about he pipe down and start building a World Series contender, one that hasn't reached the baseball pinnacle in almost 15 years. Some sad news out of San Diego as owner Peter Seidler passed away at age 63.

(48:41) As for the ice, the NHL has been quiet. I'm not happy with my beloved NY Islanders as they're in the midst of a Western Canada/Pacific Northwest trip, where they've lost the first two games. Is their coach, Lane Lambert, already on the hot seat?

PGA vs LIV, Mother Nature's Wrath Headlines The Masters. UConn Stands Tall, But Competition Small? NBA Does NOT Want This 1st Round Matchup! NHL's Panthers/Oilers Storm Into Playoffs?

The sports landscape gets a face lift as we usher in another major tournament in a legendary setting to go along with everything else that's happening as I deliver the latest podcast for the masses. On deck:

(2:51) A tradition unlike any other begins today as The Masters tees off with the first major Grand Slam tournament of 2023. Not only will there be some stiff competition from both the PGA & LIV Tour (don't worry, I'll get into that.), but Mother Nature will have a big say in all of this. The weather is expected to not only drop temperature-wise (Friday's high is 79. Saturday & Sunday? 53 & 57, respectively) but the chance of rain is ranging between 70-90% from Friday through Sunday. How will the elements be a factor? Will the tournament be completed on time? Could there be a final round on Monday? The dynamic of the PGA & LIV players going at it on this course for the very first time? Intriguing subplots abound as we'll see who'll come out on top and wear the Green Jacket come Sunday. Or Monday!

(19:07) The UConn Huskies cruise to a National Championship on Monday night as they defeat the upstart San Diego St. Aztecs. The Final Four didn't match up to what took place in the first two weekends of the tournament. Which leads to the question, was the competitive field weak overall, especially when all four #1 seeds were knocked out by the Elite Eight?

(25:48) It's coming down to this. The final few days of the NBA season as teams are jockeying for position to get themselves into the postseason. The Lakers had a chance to get out of the 7-10 seed for the play-in tournament, but lost to the Clippers who hold a slight lead ahead of them and would've had an opportunity to leapfrog over their crosstown rivals. If there is one matchup that could potentially happen in the first round that the Association DOES NOT want to see, it's Golden State vs. Phoenix. I'll explain why as I uncover all of the playoff possibilities for those who are hanging in, and some who are hanging on to see if they can qualify for the playoffs.

(34:56) Two teams that are surging in the NHL and their quest, not just for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but for home ice throughout are the Florida Panthers (#1 seed in the Eastern Conference Wild Card race) and the Edmonton Oilers (who are one point behind Vegas for the top seed out West) I'll take a look at the Central Division race as it's a three team flat footed tie at the moment (Minnesota, Dallas and Colorado all have 98 points) and a wild card race in the West which may have the Calgary Flames (currently on the outside looking in) sneak in the back door to snag a playoff berth.

(49:02) We’re one week into the baseball season and the Mets are up to their old tricks. Do I have to get into this? I’ll discuss the good start that Tampa Bay has gotten off to, while the Phillies and Mariners have stumbled out of the gate. Angels 3B Anthony Rendon received a four game suspension for an altercation with a fan in Oakland. I was surprised by the outcome. Is Rendon being used as an example by the MLB?

SD St. Magic Carpet Ride/UConn Dominance Highlights Title Game. Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese Double Standard. Lakers Peaking Or Peaked? NHL's Furious Playoff Races. MLB's Opening Weekend, Over/Unders

Let us rejoice as we begin a big stretch with plenty of sports to divulge and dissect, this month and the foreseeable future. Here to deliver the first podcast of two this week as I get into all that's below.

(3:07) The National Championship Game in Men's college basketball is tonight as the upstart San Diego State Aztecs will go up against a dominant UConn Huskies team that hasn't broken out a sweat in the five games they've played to date. I'll review the Aztecs last second buzzer beating win, the pain of Florida Atlantic losing in the final second, UConn steamrolling through the to this point and Miami's poor play as they were outclassed on the big stage. Will the Aztecs magic carpet ride lead them to a title? Are the Huskies destined to run the table without the opposition posing a threat? I'll preview the Final as to who'll cut down the nets as champions of the sport. I'll also touch on what happened in the women's tournament as there was some controversy surrounding Iowa's Caitlin Clark. She's shown a lot of fire and swag up until her team lost in the final to LSU, but Most Outstanding Player Angel Reese gave Clark a taste of her own medicine by gesturing the "You Can't See Me" wave, was it right for Reese to do that? Or even Clark for that matter, earlier in the tournament? Is this a double standard? Was it classless for both of them to do this? You'll get a complete analysis of this scenario as it's caused a firestorm on social media over the past day.

(26:44) Don't look now, but here come the Lakers! Winners of 10 of 14, currently in the seventh seed out West and with a shot to go as high as six, are they peaking at the right time? How about the Timberwolves? They have been so erratic, that they lost to a tanking Blazers team AT HOME! As they try to position themselves for the play-in tournament next week. There's a jam at the bottom of the Western Conference bracket as Oklahoma City, Dallas and Minnesota are fighting for the final two spots to extend their respective seasons a week from tomorrow.

(39:21) The NHL season has eleven days to go with some intense division and wild card races coming down to the wire. We know the Bruins have won the President's Trophy, but are three wins and seven points from setting regular season records for wins and points overall. Out West, you have Minnesota, Colorado and Dallas separated by a point. (97, 96) in the Central. While Vegas, Los Angeles and Edmonton are divided by two points (101, 100, 99) in the Pacific. This is on top of what we're witnessing in both wild cards between the Islanders (as I'll share my thoughts on them), Penguins and Panthers in the East and Kraken, Jets, Flames and Predators in the West as it's coming down to the wire with just a week and a half to go.

(49:22) The first weekend is in the books when it comes to the MLB. Justin Verlander is on the IL for the Mets (are you shocked, Met fans?) I'll get into how quick some of these games have been due to the rule changes implemented before the start of the year. The Mariners lose three out of four at home (and pitcher Robbie Ray to the IL) vs. Cleveland to start their season. Kodai Senga's first start was a success for the Mets. How he's the wild card of their rotation with Verlander on the shelf? Angels 3B Anthony Rendon got involved in an altercation with a fan out in Oakland. Will there be a suspension handed down? Lastly, I forgot to mention my three over & three under win totals on Thursday's podcast so I apologize for not doing so at that time.

Rule Changes, Ohtani's Future & Usual Suspects Lead Into MLB's 2023 Preview. Final Four: An Encore? Or Dud? KD's Back/Celtics Big Week. Wild's Huge Road Win. Commander Sale Means No Deal For Lamar

Let's rejoice as a baseball season begins, a college basketball tournament is coming to a close and everything in between when it comes to sports as I got you covered on all that's happening. On deck:

(3:42) After a few words of hope springing eternal, another lap around the track for yours truly, the long awaited baseball season is here! I'll discuss the top three storylines (i.e. rule changes, Shohei Ohtani & the Usual Suspects...you'll have to listen in order to find out!)heading into the 2023 campaign, breaking down the divisions, my surprises and disappointments and my World Series prediction, which may raise an eyebrow as I get your ready for the marathon that is the MLB.

(50:30) The Final Four will take place on Saturday to determine who'll become champions in college basketball. Will there be an encore to what we've seen to date? Can UConn continue to dominate?

(54:34) In the Association, Kevin Durant is back in the fold as he played his first game at home in Phoenix. Is there enough time in the regular season for KD to get ready for the playoffs? Plus, a battle out West as the T'wolves and Lakers could potentially fight for a play-in home game. The Celtics have a big few days ahead as they'll play the Bucks tonight, then the Sixers on Tuesday as they try to inch closer to the #1 seed in the East and away from the #3 seed where the Sixers reside at the moment.

(57:15) The Minnesota Wild won a big game in the Central Division as they have a little breathing room by beating the Colorado Avalanche last night. The Rangers will face the Devils as they try to catch them in the Metropolitan Division for home ice in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I'll look at the latest with the wild card races as well, where the Islanders have put a some distance ahead of the Penguins in the East.

(59:34) We have two groups bidding for the Washington Commanders as the estimated cost could be around six billion dollars. At the moment, this does not bode well for Lamar Jackson as he's searching for a new destination, with very few teams that he can go to. Could this be a Le'Veon Bell 2.0 situation? Will he sign the franchise offer by the Ravens?

SD St/FAU/Miami & Dominant UCONN Lead Best Tournament Ever? Mavs In Disarray Out West. NHL Playoff Races Heat Up! Lamar Wants OUT, But Where To? Key MLB Injuries & Over/Unders

An unforgettable Tournament headlines the final week of March, with lots to dissect and digest as the sports world is primed for a big month ahead. On deck:

(3:01) In a time where most pundits, personalities, etc. are prisoners of the moment, I can honestly say, this has to rank as one of the best, if not the best, NCAA College Basketball Tournament of all time. It has reached levels that we couldn't imagine or dream of with plenty of upsets, controversy, comebacks, you name it. All four #1 seeds didn't make the Elite Eight (first time that's happened) Three schools reaching the Final Four (i.e. Florida Atlantic, Miami and San Diego State) for the very first time. UCONN who's been on this stage before, but their first visit since 2014. I'll recap all of the Madness throughout the past four days and set the stage with some early headlines as I have a wild and crazy recap of what took place.

(28:11) As for the pros, the Dallas Mavericks are in a free fall out West. They've collapsed to the point where they are out of the conference play-in scenario amid getting beat back to back games by the lowly Charlotte Hornets. The discontent of the head coach, Jason Kidd. Their star player, Luka Doncic frustrated, not only with what's going on the court but in his personal life as well. And Kyrie Irving going after the fans? It's a mess down in Big D. Could they salvage this bad stretch and make it into the 7-10 seed tournament? LeBron James is back after a 13 game absence with a foot injury as they met the Bulls in LA. Patrick Beverley is up to his old tricks, but can the Lakers survive these final two weeks and make it into the postseason? Then there are the Nets (remember them?) as they battle to stay in the top six teams out East. They've been and will be without Ben Simmons (remember him?) as he's dealing with a back issue. Can they hang on and avoid being a part of an early playoff play-in?

(41:10) On the ice, things have been heating up with the divisional and wild card races in the NHL. I'll update the latest as we're less than ten games away from the conclusion of the season.

(44:51) Some big news has come down the pike over the last hour as Lamar Jackson has requested a trade to the Baltimore Ravens. Why has it come to this? Where can he go? I'll answer all of that and mention some other notable signings over the past few days.

(53:20) Baseball fans, get ready! The season is just three days away. If you're a Yankee fan, I'm sure you're not happy as another starting pitcher (i.e. Luis Severino) will be on the IL to start the season, making him the 3rd starter who'll be on the shelf as they break camp. The Phillies have lost their longtime first baseman, Rhys Hoskins to an ACL injury. Why his absence won't impact their lineup as much as you think? I'll also take a peek at the over/under win totals throughout the sport as I'll select three overs and three unders on the next podcast, with a full preview of the upcoming season that you won't want to miss.
