The winter solstice is on Saturday, with Christmas not too far behind. I’ll spread a little cheer and some jeers as I’ll start putting some gifts and coal around the tree as I get into all that’s going on in sports as THISSSSS..

(6:49) College football fans have been waiting for this. The first ever twelve team playoff commences tomorrow night. I’ll go through all of the major storylines (i.e. Ryan Day, Quinn Ewers, anyone? NFL swallowing up Saturday afternoon, etc.) preview each of the games, who’s primed for an upset, the best game of the four. Wall to wall coverage of what to possibly expect between the matchups of Indiana-Notre Dame, Clemson-Texas, SMU-Penn State and Tennessee-Ohio State.

(31:55) NFL Week 16 kicks off with a good one tonight with tiebreaking implications as the Broncos-Chargers will go at it. Saturday games are re-introduced to us as Houston-Kansas City and Pittsburgh-Baltimore will headline the day. Sunday and Monday are lacking in comparison. Will Michael Penix Jr. deliver for a Falcon team that’s been reeling? Can the Lions hang onto to that much needed one seed in the NFC to get a much needed bye in January?

(52:42) Have the Milwaukee Bucks turned the corner? After a brutal start to their season, they’ve come all the way back to win an NBA Cup on Tuesday night over OKC. Is this a springboard to get them back to the top of the Eastern Conference? Then you have a scenario where players have criticized the new All-Star Game format. To whose fault does that fall under? I’ll peek at the upcoming weekend schedule as there are a few games to sink our teeth into, including Karl Anthony Towns returning to Minnesota for his first game there since the trade to New York.

(1:05:00) On the ice, the Rangers have maybe hit rock bottom. They got shutout by one of the worst teams in the sport (Nashville) and the front office sent another player packing as former #2 overall pick Kaapo Kakko was jettisoned to Seattle. Is a turnaround forthcoming? I’ll see what else is going on in the NHL as they inch closer to the halfway point of the season.

(1:13:11) The MLB Hot Stove is still cooking these days. The Yankees remain aggressive as they acquire Cody Bellinger from the Cubs. How will he fare behind Aaron Judge in the Bronx? The Mets made a move themselves, but for a 5th line starter in a one, Griffin Canning, formerly of the Angels. Has anyone informed them that Juan Soto was an enormous signing, but their fan base wants more? Where does Nolan Arenado go after he refused a trade to Houston?

(1:22:47) There’s a heavyweight fight in boxing on Saturday as Tyson Fury tries to redeem himself after losing to current champ, Oleksandr Usyk back in May for a second meeting. How will Fury fare here? Also, how far has boxing fallen to where the general public couldn’t tell you who the heavyweight champion is?

We’re nine days away from Christmas. There’s still some time for some shopping, cooking, whipping up some egg nog, oh yes, listening to this latest episode of what the sports landscape is serving. On deck:

(6:30) The homestretch of the NFL has taken turns in different directions after Week 15. The AFC is pretty much set with the Chiefs still the #1 seed in the conference. Although we’ll have to wait on the health of QB Patrick Mahomes’s ankle. Buffalo is looking formidable with a big win in Detroit. Am I sold on them being the team to beat in the AFC? The Steelers put up an awful performance in Philadelphia with a huge rematch vs. Baltimore in six days. While the Broncos put the Colts out to pasture. Houston clinched the AFC South. The Chargers get whacked at home and the Ravens were clicking at MetLife Stadium vs. the Giants. The NFC is topsy-turvy. With the Lions losing and the Eagles winning, they are tied atop of the conference at 12-2. There’s a chance the Vikings with a victory tonight vs. Chicago could be in a three way tie (although the Lions have the tiebreaker) Then you have the Seahawks dropping out of the top of the NFC West, where the Rams overtake Seattle for first place in the division. Will the Commanders hang onto the final spot? What about Green Bay? Even the Niners? De’Vondre Campbell, anyone? Are the Cardinals still involved? A lot to unpack here as the season comes down to its final three weeks. I’ll also mention Navy’s dominance over Army on Saturday. And Colorado’s Travis Hunter is your Heisman winner, even though Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty had something to say about that.

(37:10) Who’s been following the NBA Cup? The in-season tournament final is tomorrow night with the surging Bucks and the upstart Thunder. Who will come out on top? How important is it for both teams? I’ll get into a record setting three point matchup (and weird scheduling quirk) between the Mavericks-Warriors. Joel Embiid’s latest injury. LeBron’s return to the court. And anything else happening on the hardwood.

(49:27) As for the NHL, my beloved Islanders are welcoming back two of their top players after recovering from injuries (Mathew Barzal & Adam Pelech) Can they jumpstart this team for the immediate future?  The Avalanche get a great effort from their recent goaltending acquisition (Mackenzie Blackwood) And why is tonight’s first Stanley Cup Finals rematch (Panthers at Oilers) not being broadcasted on the major networks?

(57:09) MLB’s hot stove is still cooking as there were a couple of big trades to discuss. The Astros trade RF Kyle Tucker to the Cubs for three players. Will they re-up long term with their likely one year rental? Is this the end of the Astros championship window? The same can be said for the Yankees as they made a shrewd move, obtaining Brewers closer Devin Williams, who’s also a free agent at season’s end. I’ll put to rest of the Juan Soto circus as he met the media (no pun intended) and how he revealed in his comments, the real reason he signed with the team from Queens.

Back again to detail everything that’s going on in sports with your favorite little host to uncover it all as the latest podcast is here. On deck:

(6:36) NFL Week 15 has some five star matchups, including one in Philadelphia where the Steelers will come across the state to play the Eagles. There’s been some tension with the quarterback/wide receiver combo (Jalen Hurts & AJ Brown) or so it seemed as all is well at the moment between the two. I’ll discuss Bills vs. Lions and the impact this game could have when it comes to playoff seeding. Colts vs. Broncos is a low key solid contest as they’ll determine who’ll be in good position to clinch a playoff berth. Tonight, the Niners will look to hang on in the NFC playoff picture with an enormous game vs. the Rams. Besides that, the schedule doesn’t provide much as we now get into the final homestretch of the season. The NFL will go back to Germany for a regular season game next year, this time in Berlin. I’m sure you know how I feel about that.

(26:24) College football takes a pause this weekend (other than Army-Navy and the Heisman presentation on Saturday) as the twelve team playoff will commence next Friday. Some rather shocking news came down the pike last night as former Patriots coach, Bill Belichick, agreed to come on board and coach the North Carolina TarHeels. Did this come as a shock? What about the NFL/Don Shula’s record? How about the system as it’s currently constituted with the NIL & transfer portal? Also, the latest on Georgia QB Carson Beck’s elbow as he recovers from the injury he suffered in the SEC Championship Game. Will he play?

(38:05) MLB’s Winter Meetings concludes today with not much activity, but you did have two major deals to discuss. The Yankees sign LHP Max Fried to an eight year deal. Was this a rebound from being jilted by Juan Soto’s departure? The Red Sox got their ace as they traded for Garrett Crochet from the White Sox. Are there more moves that Boston needs to make? I’ll have to revisit Juan Soto’s signing as I couldn’t believe the backlash and vitriol by fans and celebrities alike, crucifying the former Yankee for leaving to Queens. Nolan Arenado wants out of St. Louis. Does he have anything left? Would I entertain the thought of bringing him onto my team?

(52:37) The NBA Cup has reached the semifinals with the Bucks, Hawks, Thunder and Rockets moving on. Although the Warriors were frustrated that they didn’t advance against Houston after a controversial foul called in the closing seconds which propelled the Rockets to seal the deal. Did Steve Kerr get robbed of a trip to Vegas? There have been reports that Heat guard Jimmy Butler has a list of teams he’d like to get dealt to. Which teams are on his radar? Will the Heat look to part with their star player?

(1:03:02) All is mostly quiet on the ice, but the Colorado Avalanche have a goaltending carousel to ensure stability at the position. They swapped backup goaltenders with another team less than two weeks ago. Now they procure San Jose net minder Mackenzie Blackwood to see if he’s the answer to cure their ills. I’ll look at the schedule over the weekend, including an interesting stretch for the first place Vegas Golden Knights over the next four days.

Counting down the days and weeks until Christmas and the new year, but just seconds away from getting your fix on ALL of what’s happening in the sports universe as the latest podcast is here. On deck:

(6:33) It’s coming down to this in college football. Conference Championship weekend is here with not much drama and intrigue as teams set themselves up for the first ever twelve team playoff. Is there controversy surrounding the selection committee leaving Miami out of the playoff mix, despite them being ranked 12th in the nation? If SMU has an awful performance in the ACC Championship, could Miami sneak in? Besides that, you don’t have much to hang your hat on when it comes to any possible shakeups to the postseason bracket. I’ll preview the games to see whether or not Texas will exact revenge from Georgia. Can Penn State put up a fight against the #1 team in the nation? Will Boise & Arizona State punch their tickets to the dance? Everything you need to know about what’s going to take place, I’ve got you.

(29:52) Week 14 in the NFL might as well be WEAK 14, because the schedule is just that. Although tonight, you have the best matchup by far on the docket with the Packers will visit the Lions for an NFC North battle. As much as Green Bay needs to win to keep pace in the division, I’ll share why this game is more important for Detroit in the grand scheme of things? I’ll get into the three game suspension the league handed down to Azeez Al Shaair for his hit on Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence last Sunday. Was it too harsh? Is this the end of Doug Peterson’s tenure as head coach in Jacksonville?

(41:52) The NBA Cup matchups are set (for those that are into it. Yours truly, notwithstanding) Plus, I detest the scheduling of these games has me appalled. Even one of the best players in the league (ahem, SGA of OKC) said the scenario is ‘confusing.’ So I’m not alone as far as being on top of this in-season tournament. I’ll get into that a little bit. Another key injury to Suns forward Kevin Durant. And how the Warriors and Lakers have come back to the pack after great starts.

(54:35) Alex Ovechkin’s recovery from a fractured tibia has been well ahead of schedule as he’s been skating since the injury two weeks ago, but is he that close to being back in the lineup? The Dallas Stars suffered a big injury to their team as Tyler Sequin will be out 4-6 months after hip surgery. The Minnesota Wild have overtaken the Winnipeg Jets in the Central Division with torrid play and have the most points in the sport as of today.

(1:01:16) Will the MLB Hot Stove really cook over the next week? The Winter Meetings commence on Sunday through next Thursday. It’s been reported that Juan Soto is expected to announce where he’ll sign in the coming days. You know my stance on this, if you’ve listened to the podcast. What about the Dodgers deferred money on signed free agents tallying up to 1B dollars? Is this fair? I’ll unpack this silly idea of commissioner Rob Manfred’s idea of a “golden at-bat”, meaning that their best hitter can get an extra plate appearance even if his turn was up in the lineup. Seriously? And also look to see which free agents have signed on to new teams if you’re (Aroldis Chapman, Kyle Higashioka or Matthew Boyd).

I’ve got a few leftovers from the Thanksgiving holiday as I’ll serve up plenty of sports dishes to whet your appetite as the latest podcast comes your way. On deck:

(6:38) December has arrived. Which means we’re getting close to the homestretch of the NFL regular season. The NFC has become a barnburner due to the developments of yesterday. Not just at the top of the conference as the Lions, Eagles and Vikings are fighting for a #1 seed (who comes out on top?), but the Buccaneers have drawn even with the Falcons for first place in the South. What about the Seahawks? They currently own sole possession of first place in the West as they’ve put themselves in good position to win the division. How will this all play out? I can’t forget the AFC as the Chiefs continue to squeak by winning these games like a Houdini act. Is this sustainable? The Bills aren’t letting up anytime soon. Even the Steelers keep pace with a huge win in Cincinnati. I’ll get into Matt Eberflus being shown the door in Chicago, as well as, all that’s transpired throughout the Thanksgiving weekend in the league.

(36:12) Just when you thought college football couldn’t get more interesting, you had two major upsets and a comeback for the ages by Georgia to save themselves from postseason extinction. Ohio State loses an opportunity to play in the Big 10 Championship game after Michigan beats them for a fourth straight year. Then the Miami Hurricanes inexplicably blow a 21-0 lead at Syracuse to find themselves on the losing end, and in all likelihood, will be out of the college football playoff altogether. To top it off, Georgia was down 17-0 at the half and 14 points halfway through the fourth quarter before coming from behind and winning in eight overtimes vs. Georgia Tech. Is this the win that could propel them to a deep playoff run?

(50:06) The Association had a couple of key players come back from injury. Mavericks Luka Doncic doesn’t skip a beat with a 36 point/13 assist performance from a wrist injury. While Celtics Kristaps Porzingis makes a triumphant return last week against the Clippers. You’ve also had two situations regarding players calling out their teammates with pathetic efforts in recent games, such as Anthony Edwards and Dejounte Murray which I have to expound on. I’ll look at the teams that have made some hay (ex. Rockets, Bucks) as of late and anything else that’s going on in the NBA. I’ll add on some college basketball as the two time champion UConn Huskies come off of losing three straight early this season. On a sad note, I’ll discuss the passing of former legendary St. John’s coach, Lou Carnesecca who died at the age of 99 on Saturday.

(1:04:03) What has gotten into the Washington Capitals? They’re missing their franchise player (Alexander Ovechkin) who’s out for at least three weeks with a fractured leg, have risen to the top of the Eastern Conference (despite an embarrassing moment by their goalie last week). I’ll take a look at what else is happening in the NHL, including the Winnipeg Jets who have cooled off considerably after a record breaking start to the season.

(1:11:27) MLB’s hot stove will heat up this coming Sunday as the Winter Meetings will begin. Some activity has taken place as the Dodgers have signed pitcher Blake Snell and re-signed Tommy Edman. Is Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki not too far behind? Is this good for baseball as the rich get richer? The Mets try to get into the action by signing Frankie Montas to a two year deal in their own right. Am I a fan of this deal? Plus, the Rays will play a ton of their home games (47 of them) during the first part of the year and have 69 of final 103 on the road. Why is this the case? And a farewell to former Giants SS Brandon Crawford who retires after 14 years in the big leagues.

Closing out November with an extended podcast (since I’ll take off Thursday to celebrate the holiday) but don’t despair, I’ll have plenty of courses to fill your sports appetite as the latest program is coming at ya. On deck:

(6:30) There’s no secret as college football has had a tremendous season to date, therefore needing to apologize for my prediction set a month ago. You had FIVE teams in the top 16 lose which turned the landscape of the playoff upside down. Some of the big themes that I’ll unpack. Indiana wasn’t ready to swim in the deep end of the pool as they lost to Ohio State. Do they have what it takes to qualify or make some noise in the playoff? The SEC was a huge part of how topsy turvy Saturday was. Alabama gets whacked at Oklahoma. Are they done? Texas A&M is defeated in four OT’s vs. Auburn. Do they still have a shot to get in the tournament? Ole Miss suffers a crushing loss with two late interceptions at Florida which jeopardizes their chances of a playoff. Also, BYU & Colorado lost tough games on the road where they may not make the top 12 when it’s all said and done. I’ll even preview the schedule over the holiday weekend and tell you which teams are in and out at the moment.

(28:34) NFL Week 12 had its moments, but overall wasn’t a great Sunday. Kansas City had to sweat out a win in regulation vs. the lowly Carolina Panthers on the road. Is there cause for concern regarding the two time defending champs? The Eagles are in flight behind the heroics of Saquon Barkley and his 300 yard plus performance from scrimmage. Has Barkley thrusted himself to the top of the MVP mix? Are the Washington Commanders starting to fade in the NFC East? They lost a brutal game to Dallas after a miraculous TD with seconds to go was spoiled by a missed extra point that would’ve tied the game. And what about the NFC West? Seattle is now tied with the Arizona Cardinals, but have the head to head advantage to control their own destiny at the moment. I’ll review all that’s taken place (including a not so shocking letdown in Cleveland by the Steelers) and peek at the Week 13 schedule to set you up for Thanksgiving through Monday night.

(57:38) The NBA is off in the clouds just a month into their season. I have a thought on how the Spurs have played recently and how important will it be for them to clinch a playoff spot down the road. I’ll recap who’s done well and who’s been scuffling and the upcoming schedule over the next seven days.

Sidney Crosby achieves another milestone by becoming the 21st player in history with 600 goals. And there’s a new coach in St. Louis. To a sports fans surprise, the replacement is one who was just released from his position last week, in a one Jim Montgomery of the Boston Bruins. The forthcoming week has a lot of great matchups that I’ll uncover for your edification.

Is it too early to serve up a holiday feast? The answer to that is yes,  precisely a week away from Thanksgiving, but it’s never too early to carve up and share what sports entrees I’ve got prepped and ready to go as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(6:43) It’s been a wild week on the New York football scene as there was a GM fired by the Jets and a surprise pick at QB by the Giants. I’ll dissect both scenarios as Joe Douglas was let go by Gang Green. Where do they stand now and moving forward? While Tommy DeVito has been thrusted the starter over QB2 Drew Lock, meaning the end of the Daniel Jones era for the G-Men. What does this mean for an organization that’s hit on hard times since winning a Super Bowl 13 years ago. I’ll peek at the Week 12 schedule which is underwhelming, to say the least. Will the Pittsburgh Steelers follow up their huge win over Baltimore with a stinker in Cleveland? The first time nominees for the Hall of Fame were announced as Eli Manning is the headliner. Is he a first ballot HOF’er?

(32:25) The latest college football playoff selections were released on Tuesday night. This week I have a different observation. Will the committee revamp the playoff system by not awarding the conference champions a bye and go back to not just seedings, but strength of schedule, conference, etc.

(41:33) The last undefeated team in the NBA finally suffered a loss as the Cleveland Cavaliers were defeated in Boston by the defending champions two nights ago. The big story of the past few days is Sixers center Joel Embiid was called out by his All-Star teammate, Tyrese Maxey, for all intents and purposes, not being the leader as the face of the franchise. Is he right? Was he wrong to say that? Can Embiid be the leader that the Sixers need? I’ll unpack that and everything else that’s going on in the Association.

(53:37) On the ice, Alexander Ovechkin continues his assault on the all time goal scoring record held by Wayne Gretzky, netting two goals in Utah. Now it has to be put on pause when he sustained a leg injury after colliding with a Utah player. How long will he be out of the lineup? The Boston Bruins fired their coach Jim Montgomery after a quarter of a season played. Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews has been out since Nov. 3 with an upper body injury. How much longer will he miss?

(1:01:38) With the MVP in the MLB announced tonight, I’ll recap who has won the offseason awards to date. More importantly, the buzz surrounding free agent Juan Soto is reaching a fevered pitch. I’ll share an interesting parallel with another top player in a different sport that was in the same position as Soto. I’ll also run through the first time nominees for the Hall of Fame, led by Ichiro Suzuki and CC Sabathia. And another name change to a ballpark that we’ll have to get used to, this time in Houston.

Is this just your average, run of the mill sports podcast? HA! I’m taking this ten notches above as I uncover ALL that’s happening, and then some, as the latest podcast is here! On deck:

(6:44) NFL Week 11 was intriguing with lots of questions to answer. Are the Bills the AFC’s best? What about the Steelers after their win vs. Baltimore? Can the Chargers build steam as they’re on a winning streak? How about the Lions? Are they the best team overall? Can the Eagles overtake them in the NFC? Will the 49ers not make the playoffs this year? And what I would do if I was the owner of the NY Jets? I will answer all of those questions and much more as it was a wild Sunday throughout the sport.

(37:11) BYU suffered a huge loss at home to Kansas and possibly have them on the outside looking in as far as the college football playoff. Oregon survived a scare at Wisconsin to keep their #1 ranking. Georgia responds with a big home win vs. Tennessee and propels them back into the playoff picture. I’ll have all of the latest as we’re a couple of weeks away from the conclusion of the regular season.

(44:32) Will anyone slow down or stop the Cleveland Cavaliers? It’s quite possible that we could see that happen tomorrow night in Boston as they are currently 15-0. I’ll get into the milestones of Chris Paul (12K career assists) and James Harden (second all time of three point shots made) and why I wasn’t in favor for what Harden said after his achievement? TNT’s Inside the NBA will go to ESPN/ABC after this year. Was that a shock? I’ll see what else is happening throughout the Association as they’re just about a month into the regular season.

(52:08) All is relatively quiet on the ice as the Winnipeg Jets have cooled off losing two in a row in Florida over the weekend. Alexander Ovechkin nets a hat trick vs. Vegas last night to get to less than 30 goals (29 to be exact) to surpassing Wayne Gretzky all time for goals scored in a career. Then you have Connor McDavid who became the fourth fastest player to reach 1,000 points in a career as he did so a few nights back.

(56:57) I’ll spend a brief moment talking about MLB handing out their awards this week and Tampa Bay confirming where the Rays are playing their homes games next year.

(1:00:11) Do I have to recap the boredom and absolutely flop of the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight on Friday night? Will Paul pivot to fight against boxers in the professional ranks? What about the undercard match between Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano?

(1:05:05) Jon Jones continues to add to his UFC legend defeating Stipe Miocic in the octagon on Saturday night. Who’s up next for him to battle? You may be surprised to hear who he has his sights set on.

With Thanksgiving two weeks away and just six and a half weeks to a new year, you’re literally seconds to what you’ve been waiting for. Unadulterated, unfiltered and opinionated sports talk as I bring you the latest and greatest. On deck:

(6:40) After a very underwhelming first half of the NFL season, I’ll look into my crystal ball to forecast how the second half will play out. Will it be a carbon copy of what we witnessed over the first nine games? Are there teams that can rise and get themselves back into the playoff race? How many teams are Super Bowl worthy? I’ll uncover all of that and then some, as well as, peek at the big Week 11 games that’ll have implications moving forward (WSH-PHI, BAL-PIT, KC-BUF) Also, John Robinson, former coach of the LA Rams & USC passed away at 89 on Tuesday as I spend a couple of minutes on his life.

(39:15) The latest college football rankings/seedings were released. As of right now, Georgia is on the outside looking in, but for how much longer? How is Penn State ranked #4 in the nation and not #5 and undefeated Indiana? I’ll take a peek as to where we stand at the point, with an enormous game on Saturday between #7 Tennessee vs. #12 Georgia.

(46:50) A few things to get into when it comes to the NBA. When will the Cleveland Cavaliers lose as they’re currently 13-0? LeBron James continues his masterful play at almost 40 years of age as he registered his third straight triple double. Spurs young star, Victor Wembanyama recorded his first ever 50 point game vs. Washington. Giannis and the Bucks try to get back on the beam after Giannis scored 59 in a win vs. Detroit last night. The Knicks are flailing after eleven games. A big injury for a key piece on OKC. And I send out a speedy recovery to Gregg Popovich as he recovers from a mild stroke.

(57:30) Not much is happening on the ice as the only story of late are the Winnipeg Jets. They beat up on the Rangers Tuesday night to go on to an NHL record 15-1 start. Next up? A trip to Florida to play the Lightning and Panthers over the next three days. Besides that, you don’t have much else.

(1:00:23) Is anyone interested in the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson Netflix exhibition fight tomorrow night? This will be all on the former heavyweight champion of the world as to how exciting this’ll be. Will he go all out? Is he looking to punish the young fighter? What can we possibly expect?

(1:04:06) A very familiar and legendary figure in the UFC has a championship fight on Saturday night as heavyweight Jon Jones will battle against Stipe Miocic. How will Jones fare as he gets back into the Octagon looking to add to his iconic status in the sport?

Ready, set, go as I’m flying out of the gate capturing all that’s happened and what to possibly expect throughout the sports universe as the latest podcast is here. On deck:

(6:36) I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the soldiers, servicemen and women in our country, fighting for our nation and protecting our freedom here on this Veteran’s Day.

(7:01) We’re now ten weeks into the NFL season, finally past the halfway mark. I’ll express the good, bad and ugly of what has transpired over the first two plus months of the year. Has it been a season to remember at this point? I’ll recap all of the action of the weekend, including a big Steelers win in Washington. The Lions getting out of Houston alive with a victory. And the Chiefs are still unbeaten.

(34:22) College football continues to surprise as there were more upsets on Saturday. Did Georgia take a severe hit to their playoff chances losing at Ole Miss? What about Miami upended at Georgia Tech? You know LSU is out after suffering a blowout defeat at home vs. Alabama. And BYU survives after a controversial call to stay unbeaten and in the mix to qualify for the 12 team playoff next month. How will the committee dissect this after Saturday’s games?

(46:13) Don’t look now, but the NBA In Season Tournament begins tomorrow! Will yours truly get wrapped up over the next month with the culmination in Las Vegas? What has gone on with the Milwaukee Bucks? The free fall continues, but this falls on one person as to why they’re a far cry from the championship level team of a few years ago. I’ll check on what else is going on in the Association before pivoting to…

(58:02)…the latest on the ice. The Winnipeg Jets have set an NHL record for the best start to a season ever. They’re on pace for 77 wins. Can they keep this up? Alex Ovechkin scored two more goals to leave him 32 away from surpassing The Great One all time in the history of the sport. I’ll peek on how other teams are faring after the first month of the season.

(1:03:40) The MLB hot stove has cooled off a bit. Although there is one glaring question surrounding the most coveted free agent, Juan Soto. Are there any other teams besides the Yankees & Mets that will entertain discussions with the slugging outfielder? Plus, a new manager surfaces in Miami and a familiar one comes back in The Bronx, but is a lame duck heading into 2025.

The clocks have been turned back, the days are shorter and a new yet familiar sheriff is coming back to our nation. Should I even go there? NAHHHHH! I’m a stay right here as I dive into all that’s happening in sports as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(6:31) We’re at the halfway point of the NFL season. Are we? Kinda? Sorta? Some teams (WSH, DET, PIT & ARZ) acquired reinforcements for the second half and stretch run of the 18 week schedule. Will these deals put these teams over the top? There are a few games to zero in on this weekend, starting tonight in Baltimore where they’ll play Cincinnati. I’ll talk about the Chiefs perfect start and possible perfect season?

(21:29) College football’s selection committee released their first rankings as to who’s in contention as of today for the first 12 team college football playoff. I have a couple of issues with the list, which I’ll explain. Also, some big games will take place that’ll have an impact on the standings Saturday with Georgia visiting Ole Miss and Alabama going to LSU?

(31:38) Sixers center Joel Embiid was handed down a three game suspension due to assaulting a columnist. Was it warranted? Paul George gets booed upon his return to LA last night. Was that deserved? Golden State outlasts Boston in their building last night as Steph Curry almost had a triple double. Is there a disconnection in Denver between the head coach, front office and franchise player, Nikola Jokic?

(45:15) Is it time to start the Alexander Ovechkin goal scoring watch. He’s on a torrid stretch of six goals in five games as he’s 34 goals away from breaking Wayne Gretzky’s record. Or is it too early to discuss? Plus, the league gets back their best player (Connor McDavid) earlier than expected from a lower body injury. Speaking of which, a big loss in Colorado as former Norris Trophy winner Cale Makar may miss time with an undisclosed injury as the NHL is just about a month into their season.

(53:17) The Hot Stove in MLB is a little warm here in the early part of the month. The Yankees stand pat on not extending an extra year to Gerrit Cole’s contract as he returns on the same deal he signed before 2020. But will they play hardball in negotiations with their right fielder Juan Soto? The Angels add a pitcher to their roster, but one that won’t resonate with their fans in Southern California.

(6:23) Now that baseball is in our rearview mirror, football will be front and center as the main topic of discussion over the next few months. First up, the NFL. The big question at the moment are the Lions the best team in the league? They beat the Packers at Lambeau Field in their first outdoor game this year. Who in the NFC is going to beat the Lions, especially come January when they may have the #1 seed in the conference? How about the NFC West? What a wild division this is turning out to be as all four teams are separated by one game, with the Arizona Cardinals in first place! I’ll go through a rough slate of games yesterday as we’re approaching the halfway (or past the halfway point) of the season. Don’t forget, tomorrow is the trade deadline at 4pm. Which players will be moved in the next 24 hours, with some requesting to go to Washington as reported?

(30:19) Penn State comes up small yet again against their conference rival Ohio State Buckeyes, losing 20-13 on Saturday. Are they to be trusted come playoff time? There were a couple of other key losses to teams that are ranked in the top 25 (Texas A&M, Iowa State) which could keep them out of the tournament come late December?

(38:42) Tension boiling in Philadelphia between Joel Embiid and a columnist? That’s what happened as the former MVP confronted Marcus Hayes, which ended up in a shoving match. This is based on what Hayes wrote about Embiid professionally and personally. Was Hayes wrong? Did Embiid take this too far? There’s a huge injury in the sport as Magic forward, Paolo Banchero will be out for at least six weeks until evaluated from a torn oblique. And is a 5 x 5 stat line (at least five in points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks) en vogue after Victor Wembanyama did so a few days ago against Utah. NOTE: Some late breaking news during the recording as the New Orleans Saints fired head coach, Dennis Allen to no surprise after losing to lowly Carolina yesterday.

(50:38) The Florida Panthers aren’t suffering from a Stanley Cup hangover as they swept the Dallas Stars in another international series (this time in Finland) leading the top of the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference overall. I have to throw my two cents in on my beloved Islanders who have lost a couple of key players to injury and are looking mediocre as they’ll end up being a fringe playoff team by the time we get to spring. And Alexander Ovechkin gets closer to tying Wayne Gretzky for the most goals scored in the history of the NHL.

(56:46) Baseball may be on our radar over the next couple of weeks as players have opted out of their current contracts. (i.e. Gerrit Cole, Blake Snell, Corbin Barnes, etc.) Where will they end up? Also, the Braves have been wheeling and dealing, not resting on their laurels as we’re just a few days removed from the World Series. Bob Costas steps down as an MLB play-by-play guy after criticism earlier in the postseason.

It’s Halloween. So you know there’s going to be plenty of tricks & treats as I roundup all of what’s happening in the world of sports. On deck:

(6:38) After a mention of having to pardon myself if I’m sounding a bit hoarse, I regroup to unpack the miniseries that took place on FOX at Yankee Stadium last night in Game 5. I’ll review Games 3 & 4 as well, but the Dodgers overcome a five run deficit and Yankee miscues abound to win the franchise’s eighth World Series, 7-6. I’ll throw bouquets at manager Dave Roberts, series MVP Freddie Freeman and reliever Blake Treinen for their performance in the game! As for the Yankees? A bitter defeat which erased the good fortune of avoiding getting swept the night before. How this will affect the team, especially with some key free agents (Juan Soto, Gerrit Cole, Gleyber Torres, among others) Lastly, my personal motto and breakdown when the Yankees don’t record the last out of the season, taking shots at some (not ALL) of their fans and saying goodbye to radio announcer, John Sterling! It’s another winter that I can sleep in peace after another year without winning a title!

(42:56) NFL Week 9 has a rather light schedule, although there are a couple of games to watch (DET-GB, DEN-BAL) My beloved Steelers have a bye, but at 6-2, in first place in the AFC North, why their record is deceiving? KC made a good trade for a pass rusher (Joshua Uche) and a puzzling trade for Baltimore as they acquire WR Diontae Johnson, when they need defensive help in the worst way.

(51:50) A huge college football matchup at high noon on Saturday as Ohio State will go to Happy Valley to play Penn State. Why now is the time for the Nittany Lions to win a big game in the Big 10?

(54:51) There are a couple of injuries of note in the NBA (Steph Curry & Scottie Barnes). The Celtics lost their first game of the season with an OT loss at Indiana. Do I get geeked up for Bronny James scoring his first ever NBA points in Cleveland of all places? And do I need to stress Dwyane Wade’s statue in Miami?

(58:11) The NHL suffered an enormous loss (well, just for 2-3 weeks) as Oilers superstar Connor McDavid will be out with a lower body (ankle) injury as they fight off of a slow start. The Winnipeg Jets finally lose and the San Jose Sharks finally won, in fact, two in a row.

Your boy is playing injured as I’m battling a hoarse voice that came out of nowhere, but that won’t stop me from sharing my thoughts and opinions on ALL that’s taking place in sports. On deck:

(6:40) The LA Dodgers took care of business at home winning the first two games of the World Series. Now the scene shifts to New York for the next two (at least) maybe three games. Is this Fall Classic, for all intents and purposes, over? I’ll explain why that’s not the case and make a play for the Yankees to draw even in the Series for a pivotal Game 5 on Wednesday night? I’ll unpack the managing of Aaron Boone and Dave Roberts, how Aaron Judge is becoming playoff A-Rod prior to his 2009 run and how many people have watched and paid attention to the heavyweight matchup.

(29:04) We’re approaching the halfway point of the NFL season. Week 8 had some good (Jayden Daniels Hail Mary and success in DC), bad (the AFC East, and both Souths have been clinched?) and the ugly (the Jets have hit rock bottom) are the key highlights from Sunday’s action. I’ll also get on Ravens coach John Harbaugh, Tua’s return to Miami, another vicious play by the Saints defense, the Packers get out of Jacksonville alive, are the Bengals done and can the NFL upstage Election Day?

(51:14) College football in Week 9 was mostly quiet, although the big game was Texas A&M coming from behind after a big gamble changing quarterbacks. It catapulted them to a 38-23 win over LSU. Where do the Aggies stand in the college football playoff as the first announcement of the rankings will be tomorrow?

(56:12) The NBA is just about a week old with the Lakers back where they belong, 3-0 at the top of the West. Kevin Durant reaches a lofty milestone, with another one forthcoming. Steph Curry suffered an ankle sprain which could keep him out of the lineup for the foreseeable future.

(59:46) Break up the Jets! Not the football team. The hockey team as they are 8-0 to begin the season. How long will this streak last? Same could be said about the San Jose Sharks who haven’t won as of yet. Teams that have recovered from slow starts are the Avalanche, Predators and Hurricanes. The Rangers sign their 2020 #1 overall pick, Alexis Lafreniere to a seven year deal as he’s slowly becoming one of the top players in the league.

(1:03:48) There was a UFC fight on Saturday night where Ilia Topuria surprisingly KO’s Max Holloway in the third round, the first time that’s happened to Holloway. Could a rematch be in the works?

One more week before we turn the calendar to the penultimate month of 2024, but not before a few more podcasts, starting with this one coming right at ya. On deck:

(6:25) We’re just one day away from an epic World Series matchup between two old rivals. Yankees vs. Dodgers. I’ll unpack how this could affect the sports landscape from a viewing perspective. A history lesson between the two franchises, with analysis and complete breakdown on what we could possibly expect over the course of a long series. Also, how this Fall Classic will affect my upcoming winter? I’d be remiss if I didn’t discuss the passing on Dodgers legend, Fernando Valenzuela. And how a certain popular ESPN program DID NOT spend a second on this? What are the Tampa Bay Rays going to do about playing games at home in 2025, considering the damage to the roof of Tropicana Field due to Hurricane Helene?

(46:12) Are the Baltimore Ravens the NFL’s best after seven weeks? Their record may not indicate that, but their recent play sure does. The Chiefs, who are the last undefeated team in the sport, acquires former All-Pro WR DeAndre Hopkins. Does he push them over the top? There were a few other trades that the Seahawks & Texans shored up their defense. Alvin Kamara gets an extension by the Saints. I’m sure they’ll be teams looking to secure wideouts in Tampa Bay, San Francisco, among others. I’ll take a peek at the Week 8 schedule, which at first glance, is so-so.

(57:15) College football has a few solid games on the docket (Missouri-Alabama, Notre Dame-Navy, LSU-Texas A&M) that I’ll keep an eye on as Week 9 closes out October.

(59:41) The NBA season has begun. The defending champion Celtics shot the lights out of the basketball to tie a record for three pointers made in a game. What they did to try to break the record was flat-out embarrassing! Then you have the LeBron James making history again, this time playing with his son Bronny to become the first father-son duo to play in a regular season game. Was this storyline blown out of proportion?

(1:06:27) As for what’s happening on the ice, it’s been low key as the Nashville Predators finally get off the deck with their first win of the year. We’re still waiting for San Jose to do the same. There’s a rematch of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight between the red hot Rangers and defending Cup Champion Panthers.

Here to detail what lies ahead over the course of an 82 game regular season and beyond is my 2024-25 NBA Preview. I’ll share the top storylines (Will the Celtics repeat? Can the Knicks or Sixers overtake the C’s in a top heavy Eastern Conference? A wide open and loaded West where the new guard, {OKC, MIN, NO, MEM & SAC} could rule the top of the conference over the old guard {LAL, GS, LAC, DEN & PHX) heading into tonight’s tip-off in Boston where the Celtics will raise Banner 18 to the TD Garden rafters. I’ll have my surprise and disappointment, over/unders and a prediction on who’ll raise the Lawrence O’Brien Trophy come mid-June. Get ready for some classic podcasts this week (THREE OF THEM) as I could do these in my sleep with so much to unpack, you won’t know what hit you as the sports world will shift into fifth gear. On deck:

(6:50) They ran out of gas and magic simultaneously. The 2024 New York Mets were unable to meet their crosstown rivals in a Subway Series as they were defeated in the NLCS by the LA Dodgers in six games. What’s next for this franchise as they try to take this team to the next level? As I mentioned, the Yankees punched their ticket over a pesky, gutty Guardians team in five games. It sets the stage for a colossal dream matchup between two old rivals. This is only the beginning, people as Thursday’s podcast will have plenty of breakdown, analysis, predictions and personal investment. What I will discuss here is how baseball is ecstatic over this World Series, but will there be interest throughout the nation over this talent rich Fall Classic?

(37:31) There’s only one remaining undefeated team in the NFL. To no surprise, it’s the Kansas City Chiefs. What is a surprise is the output of QB Patrick Mahomes, throwing more interceptions than touchdowns to date. How is this possible? The Vikings lost their first game of the year to the Lions, who have overtaken the NFC North. A puzzling QB change in Pittsburgh comes up roses as Russell Wilson put forth a good three final quarters to run the Jets out of Acrisure Stadium. I’ll also discuss a brutal injury to a depleted 49er offense, the disaster in Cleveland, not just with Deshaun Watson, but the owner wants a domed stadium in a nearby suburb? Saquon Barkley, Packers breathing down the Lions & Vikings necks and much more!

(56:02) A topsy turvy college football regular season continues with Georgia dominating defensively at Texas, moving up three spots in the ranking, where Texas falls back to #5. What about Alabama, losing their second game of the season at Tennessee, but with Missouri and a trip to LSU in the near future, could they not be a part of the college football playoff mix?

(1:03:40) Hoops fan, the NBA tips off tomorrow night. I’ll have a preview of the upcoming 2024-25 year in the morning, but with the Celtics raising their 18th banner to the rafters with the Knicks coming in, on top of Kawhi Leonard out indefinitely for the Clippers to the chagrin of the owner Steve Ballmer who’s opening a brand new crown jewel of a building on Wednesday night (Intuit Dome). I’ll send some kudos to the NY Liberty who won their first WNBA title. Was it amid some controversy in a thrilling Game 5 over Minnesota? And college coach Tony Bennett of Virginia retires due to the “current environment” of the landscape with NIL’s and transfer portals impacting the sport.

(1:14:20) Two weeks into the NHL season, you have some teams that are unbeaten or undefeated (Winnipeg is 5-0) or winless (San Jose is 0-4-2 and Nashville is 0-5) as the play on ice is just warming up.

Fired up for another opportunity to do what I love, behind the microphone and in front of this camera (for those that are watching) sharing my thoughts and analysis on ALL that’s happening in sports. On deck:

(6:39) MLB is in the middle of their championship series as two teams are halfway to the World Series. The Yankees have handled the Guardians over the first two games of the series, winning both without breaking a sweat. Have I really been paying attention to this snoozefest of a showdown? I’ll talk about that on the back end of the baseball segment. The NLCS has the Dodgers up 2-1 after another shutout in a blowout Game 3 vs. the Mets. I’ll get into why the Mets MUST win Game 4 and even breakdown how important it is for them to get back to California up 3-2 with one game to punch their ticket to the Fall Classic?! CORRECTION: I said the the 90’s Cleveland Indian teams never got to a World Series in that decade (although I mentioned they lost to the Braves and Marlins in 1995 & 97 respectively). I meant to say that they never WON a World Series. My apologies for the error.

(29:18) After another disappointing loss on Monday night, the Jets may have found their cure to their recent losing ways acquiring former Raiders WR Davante Adams, reuniting him with QB Aaron Rodgers. I’ll explain why this is NOT the case that Adams will come in and save their season. There was another big move in their own division just hours after Adams coming East as the Bills trade for Amari Cooper. How big of a factor will he be for QB Josh Allen and their offense? Jerry Jones is in the news again. He had some not so nice words for a couple of radio talk show hosts about the state of the Cowboys. I have a few not so nice words for the ubiquitous owner of America’s Team. I’ll peek at the Week 7 schedule, where there are a couple of good games (DET-MIN, KC-SF) and two more Monday night games?

(47:23) College football has another big weekend with two enormous games (Georgia-Texas, Alabama-Tennessee) but what does this mean in the grand scheme of things? Is it much? Is it little to none?

(53:34) The NBA tips off in five days. I’ll review what the over/under win totals are as I prepare for an NBA Preview next week.

(59:42) On the ice, there was a wonderful tribute in Columbus for their fallen player, Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew, who both died due to a bike accident in late August. What’s going on in Colorado? The Avalanche have gotten off to an 0-4 start to their season. I’ll discuss that, Edmonton finally getting a win after three losses, the fast starts in Dallas and Calgary and a goaltender scoring a goal as we’re ten days into the regular season.
