Visions Of ’83 For NC State, Bama’s First Final 4. Purdue-UCONN Matchup? Is Any Lead Safe In NBA? My Dark, Twisted MLB Nightmare! Rangers: NHL’s Best? NFL Up To Old Tricks!

No fooling around on this first day of April! I’m ready to fire on all cylinders as I’ve got plenty of sports talk to unpack as a new week, month and quarter begin. On deck:

(4:08) I offer an apology to you guys and gals for not publishing my Thursday podcast (after the MLB Preview) due to some unforeseen circumstances. Add in Easter and celebrating a birthday yesterday, it had yours truly running around, enjoying life as I haven’t posted any thoughts on what’s happening in sports on my YouTube channel, social media, etc. I appreciate your patience and understanding as I send a mea culpa to start.

(6:30) March Madness pivots to April as the Final Four in the Men’s tournament is set! You have a Cinderella in #11 seed, NC State. A #4 seed and first time ever visit to a semifinal in Alabama. Then the two #1 seeds in Purdue (first FF since 1980) and UCONN (defending champs) I’ll talk about their journey to this point, including some early headlines of these four teams representing out in Glendale where the Final Four will take place on Saturday night. On the women’s side, there’s lot of intrigue with a regional semifinal tonight where LSU will play Iowa to see who goes onto the Final Four. We know about these rivals dating back to last year’s tournament. NC State has advanced, just like their male counterparts. Can the Lady Huskies do the same with a win tonight vs. USC?

(28:24) The Association is down to the final couple of weeks of the season. It’s a Wild Wild West at the top and bottom of the conference. Lakers continue their winning ways on a current East coast trip, trying to stay ahead of the Warriors for the ninth seed. Golden State keeps winning, where the Rockets had their eleven game winning streak snapped as they’ve tried to keep pace with the Dubs for the final seed out West. Has luck run out for Houston? What about the race for the top seed between OKC, Denver and Minnesota? Who needs it the most? I’ll check on what’s happening out in the East, as it’s not as intriguing, unless you’re interested in the battle of the 3-8 seeds. More importantly, is any lead safe in the NBA? After watching the Celtics blew a 30 point lead to Atlanta last week. And the Bucks coughed up an 18 point fourth quarter lead against a LeBron James-less Lakers team. This could be something to pay attention to come playoff time, although it’s unlikely to happen.

(42:40) Just four days into the baseball season, I’m already living a dark, twisted nightmare. My beloved Mets are 0-3 and the Yankees are 4-0. I’ll explain further as to why this is the case. I’ll discuss some early suspension for two pitchers (Mets Yohan Ramirez and Blue Jays Genesis Cabrera), which teams had a good weekend and who didn’t?

(53:06) On the ice, we’re down to about seven or eight games left of this long season. Are the Rangers the best team in the NHL at the moment? Are they peaking at the right time? I’ll get into their chances of competing for a Cup and take a trip to see what teams are in good stead for making the playoffs, who’s on the cusp and who’s fallen off completely?

(1:02:52) Lastly, there are a few NFL news and notes to dive into. I like the new kickoff rule (adopted from the XFL) Reviewing intentional grounding, roughing the passer and hits out of bounds (Ok?) Moving the trade deadline up to Week 9 (Fine.) Some acquistions last week, highlighted by the Jets acquiring Eagles pass rusher, Haason Reddick (Alright!) Here’s comes the cold water. The Eagles opener in Sao Paolo, Brazil, the Friday game after the likely Chiefs raising the curtain on the season the day before, will be aired on Peacock. (What?!) And there will be two games on Christmas Day, but the holiday falls on a Wednesday! (SERIOUSLY!?) What’s next? A game every day on the NFL calendar?

It’s time to ‘PLAY BALL’ as the 2024 MLB season has arrived. I’ll go in-depth as to what we could possibly see over the next six plus months in the sport. Madness Takeaways: Big East Snubs, UCONN’s Tough Bracket & Purdue’s Easy Path. Steelers Shock With Pickett & Fields Trades. MLB In Korea. Game Clock Issues In LA?

Spring is officially arriving tomorrow, but right now is the latest podcast detailing ALL that’s happening in the sports universe. On deck:

(4:16) We can finally usher out the Sports Dead Zone, Part 1 (at least until summer) and begin a huge stretch of sports talk over the next few months. Jump starting that is the Madness of March. The NCAA Tournament tips off tomorrow night with the First Four, and in earnest, on Thursday with the first of two days of college basketball from 12 noon to 1:00am. I’ll discuss the top three storylines of the selection process (Mountain West over Big East), UCONN’s tough bracket to defend their title. And Purdue’s cakewalk to a Final Four, considering how their bracket unfolded. I’ll get into the whole bracket on Thursday’s pod, so this is the appetizer to set you up for the main course later in the week. I’ll take a peek at how I was disappointed of the selection committee on the women’s side, where they have Iowa and LSU in the same bracket and not different brackets.

(24:36) What has gone on in Pittsburgh this offseason? It’s almost as if the Steelers have had an identity shift. I say that because just the past few days alone, they traded their former #1 pick Kenny Pickett to the Eagles. Then surprised me in acquiring Justin Fields of the Bears for what? A sixth round pick? I’ll unpack all of what GM Omar Khan has done to date and assess how this was a change from the front office that even their biggest fans didn’t expect? I’ll discuss what the Vikings did by picking up another first round pick (via Houston) Some other key signings/trades that transpired. And the retirement of Rams DT Aaron Donald, who called it a career on Friday after ten years in STL & LA.

(41:43) As much as we’re looking forward for the baseball season to start next Thursday, it actually starts on Wednesday. That’s right! The Dodgers-Padres will kick off 2024 in Korea for two games. Am I cool with MLB throwing out the first pitch outside of American soil? The Yankees dodged a potential catastrophe to their starting rotation regarding the health to Cy Young ace Gerrit Cole, but do they still look for reinforcements since the aforementioned will be out for at least a month? Then Mets owner, Steve Cohen, addressed the media to announce that 1B Pete Alonso will likely not be signed before Opening Day. YOU KNOW that I have something to say about that with the season starting in ten days.

(52:27) The Association is rather low key, despite a wild and inexplicable final two minutes of the Warriors-Lakers game because of game clock and shot clock malfunctions as the Dubs won in LA. Speaking of LA, the Clippers have hit the skids, losing 4 of 5 and not having an identity, as stated by Paul George. What’s going on there? I’ll see where we’re at throughout the league with the latest in the standings as we’re about a month away from the conclusion of the NBA season.

(59:30) Besides my Islanders going through a bad stretch of late, falling out of the Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference (albeit a point in the standings as of this moment), the NHL is status quo as I’ll take a trip around the ice as they head into the homestretch.

(1:03:23) With The Masters teeing up three weeks from this coming Thursday, the TPC at Sawgrass took place over the weekend. Scottie Scheffler is the first player ever to win back to back as he shot -20 and a 64 in the final round as he’s primed for another run as the top golfer on the tour. NOTE: I mentioned that Scheffler won the Masters last year. It was in 2022. Jon Rahm won last year. My apologies for the error.

(1:04:57) Although it’s not a Grand Slam in the world of tennis, the winners at Indian Wells were Iga Swiatek on the women’s side and Carlos Alcaraz (who stopped Jannik Sinner’s 19 match consecutive streak) captured the men’s title as both winners look to build on their victories with the French Open two months away.

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with Olipop soda? Jaguars Gag. Bills Take AFC East Flag. Eagles Lag & Juicy Wild Card Storylines. Harbaugh's Last Hurrah At Michigan? Nat'l Champ Preview. Draymond's Return. Big Loss In NHL. No Nadal Down Under

Even with winter in full effect (depending on where you live), the sports world has plenty of heat as I'm happy to provide all of my analysis and opinions on all that's happening in the toy department of life. On deck:

(3:00) The NFL regular season has concluded. It was a wild Week 18 as there were teams that were looking for a playoff spot, playoff positioning or winning a division altogether. The Houston Texans eked out a close win in Indianapolis to not only secure a playoff spot, but win the AFC South. That is because of the untimely collapse of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who lost in Tennessee to not only blow the division, but miss out on the playoffs altogether. With that, the Pittsburgh Steelers get into the tournament with their win in Baltimore. Then you had the Buccaneers win the NFC South after a ho-hum win in Carolina, which left the Saints and Falcons on the outside looking in. In the final game of the year, the Buffalo Bills took what was theirs (another AFC East title) after beating the Miami Dolphins in South Florida. A complete recap of what took place. The top three storylines of the Wild Card round (i.e. Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions) the six matchups this weekend and who's out as coach on Black Monday as there have been a couple of firings in Atlanta & Washington already. And, oh yes, my final tally of my over/under win totals of 2023, which came to a screeching halt yesterday afternoon.

(39:56) A national champion will be crowned tonight in college football tonight as Michigan-Washington will square off in Houston. Is this going to be the last time we see coach Jim Harbaugh on the Wolverines sideline? I'll have a preview of what to possibly expect as we'll have our first title game of the new year.

(45:21) The Association has been rather quiet, but there's a big return by the Bay as Draymond Green will come back from his 12 game suspension? Will he be on his best behavior moving forward? In the process, they'll also miss Chris Paul as he needs surgery for an injured left hand.

(51:17) On the ice, the NHL takes a huge hit as #1 overall pick, Connor Bedard, will be out of the lineup for the Blackhawks due to a broken jaw he suffered in New Jersey on Friday night. There was an enormous milestone reached by Minnesota Wild goaltender, Marc-Andre Fleury. Not only did he recently play in his 1,000th game, but he tied legendary goalie Patrick Roy for second all time with 551 wins. Is Fleury a first ballot, lock down Hall of Famer?

(58:08) With the Australian Open commencing next week, they'll be without Rafael Nadal. He was on the mend and ready for a comeback but had to withdraw from the first Grand Slam tournament of the year with a hip injury. How much of a blow this will be for the sport?

(1:00:32) In baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers are at it again as they sign OF Teoscar Hernandez to a 1 year deal. Has the pressure ratcheted up as they continue to reload an already loaded team?

Ravens: NFL's Best? Dolphins Big Win. Latest Playoff Possibilities. NBA X-Mas Day Storylines. Pistons On Verge Of NBA History For Futility? A New Evil Empire: Dodgers Sign Yamamoto! Bad For Baseball?

Christmas may be over and out, but I have one last present to share as I've got aplenty to unpack with all that the sports world has to offer. On deck:

(3:08) Did the Baltimore Ravens make a statement to the rest of the NFL by obliterating the San Francisco 49ers offense last night and hold the key to the league's best team? I'll uncover that scenario, as well as, the Miami Dolphins winning a huge game against the Dallas Cowboys, which sets up a crucial AFC matchup with the Ravens for the #1 seed in the conference on Sunday. I'll go through all of the permutations of playoff possibilities when it comes to teams in the mix, on the fringe or those who are surviving by a thread as we're down to the final two weeks of the regular season.

(33:41) The NBA had their Christmas Day extravaganza with five games from 12 noon to 1am ET. There were a few intriguing storylines throughout the day. The Knicks outlasting the Bucks. Warriors coach Steve Kerr fuming at the refs over their treatment of Nuggets big man, Nikola Jokic. What about the Celtics beating the Lakers ? Or Luka putting up a 50 piece on the Phoenix Suns? And will we see history tonight if the Pistons lose their 27th consecutive game at home vs. Brooklyn?

(41:58) Not much is happening on the ice. Capitals winger, Alex Ovechkin did inch a little closer to Wayne Gretzky's all time goal scoring record after going through a long goal scoring drought (15 games). Break up my Islanders as they've moved up the standings in the Metropolitan Division, currently behind the Rangers for first place.

(44:10) Baseball has a new Evil Empire. Last year, it was the New York Mets. This year, it's the Los Angeles Dodgers. They've signed Shohei Ohtani to a record contract. They acquired Rays starting pitcher, Tyler Glasnow to an $135 million dollar extension. Now, they've added prized starter from Japan, Yoshinobu Yamamoto to a 12 year/$325 million dollar deal. Is this another bad blow for a sport with no salary cap?

Cowboys Untrustworthy In Big Road Games, AFC/NFC South Log Jam, Latest NFL Playoff Picture. Steph's Streak Stopped, Giannis's 'Real' Game Ball. Pistons: 23 L's! Dodgers Continue Reload With Glasnow

It's almost time to get festive and celebrate another holiday season, but before that there's plenty of sports talk to get into as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(2:59) As steady, and at times, spectacular this season that the Dallas Cowboys have been, they've been bad in a big spot on the road. Further evidence was yesterday in Buffalo where they were drubbed 31-10 by the Bills. Do you trust this Cowboy team on the road against a stout opponent? They have another shot where they go down to Miami on Christmas Eve to see if they can silence the critics, including yours truly. There's an interesting development with both Souths in the AFC & NFC. You have the Jaguars, who have hit the skids with a three game losing streak, now tied with the Texans and Colts for first place in the AFC South. The Buccaneers impressed and won a huge game in Green Bay, while the Saints keep pace with Tampa after beating the Giants at home and Atlanta (after a bad loss on the road in Carolina) are only a game behind both teams for the top spot in the NFC South. I'll share my disgust with the Steelers effort over the past three weeks, rumors about the possible end of Mike Tomlin as coach. I'll uncover all of the up to the date playoff scenarios in each conference, other news throughout the league (i.e. Chargers firing coach Brandon Staley. Is Bill Belichick not far behind?) as we're down to the final three weeks of the regular season. NOTE: I made a mention of the 49ers losing Super Bowl LIV to Miami, not in Miami. Of course, they lost to Kansas City. My apologies for the faux pas.

(32:05) A few records were snapped and came to a halt in the NBA. Steph Curry had his streak of 268 games of making at least one three pointer ended in a win vs. Portland. Kings guard Keegan Murray made eleven straight three point shots (an NBA record) in a win vs. Utah. And Bucks forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo got the game ball he deserves as he's the all time leader in franchise history when it comes to rebounding. Also, the sad passing of former big man, Eric Montross who succumbed to cancer at the age of 52. I'll keep you abreast of what the latest is throughout as the Clippers have been scorching, the Spurs snap their 18 game losing streak and the Pistons have lost 23 consecutive games and counting.

(44:09) The NHL has been rather low key, although you have a big loss with Dallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger out with a lower body injury for the forseeable future. How will that impact them in the short term? Plus, whatever else is happening on the ice.

(48:30) MLB's Hot Stove has been cool for the most part, but the Dodgers continue to reload as they've traded for Rays pitcher Tyler Glasnow and gave him an $136 million dollar extension. Is Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto on their radar to complete an enormous offseason of transactions?

Belichick Out? Steeler Tradition Done? Games In Brazil? Oh! A Busy Week 15 Schedule. Giannis Overreacts Over Game Ball. Draymond Surprise Suspension. Spurs: 20 L's In A Row? Ohtani Contract Aftermath

It's been a busy past few days in the sports world and it's evident because I've got plenty to unpack as the latest podcast is here for consumption. On deck:

(2:52) With Week 15 in the NFL just about here, there were plenty of newsworthy items over the past few days. Starting off with the inevitable firing of coach Bill Belichick in New England. Is it a possibility? A probability? It's been a couple of rough weeks for the Pittsburgh Steelers of late. One of its best players in their teams history (QB, Ben Roethlisberger) has called out the organization as far as their tradition might be past them, as well as, taking shots at the head coach, Mike Tomlin, along the way. Is he accurate? Out of line? The NFL is going to expand their international reach as they're looking to have Brazil host a game next year. Is this an exercise of futility? Is this necessary? There's some news regarding the officiating front where the commissioner and VP of football operations have come out in light of the call in Kansas City on Sunday, where WR Kadarius Toney was in the neutral zone prior to the touchdown that gave the Chiefs the lead. What was said during those discussions and what may change? Oh! I'll preview a super busy schedule, which now adds Saturday to the mix with just about every game having playoff implications. I'll also pay respects to former Titans TE, Frank Wycheck, who passed away tragically last weekend at the age of 52.

(36:21) The Association has had some eventful moments the past 48 hours or so. Bucks forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a career high 64 points last night vs. Indiana. How he acted after the game in searching for the game ball as a keepsake was a complete overreaction? Then you had Warriors Draymond Green suspended indefinitely for striking Suns Jusuf Nurkic on Tuesday night. As tired as his act has been throughout his career, was this too extreme? Will the Spurs ever win again? Of course they will, but they've lost 18 games in a row. Is there a chance they can snap their streak before the weekend is out?

(47:20) Off the ice, the St. Louis Blues fired their head coach Craig Berube. And what's this about the owner of the Washington Capitals & NBA Wizards, Ted Leonsis, wanting to move his teams to Northern Virginia by the end of the decade? On the ice, the Edmonton Oilers have been bulldozing the competition after a very slow start as they've won eight straight.

(53:34) Who would've thought that we're almost a week since the news of Shohei Ohtani signing his whopping $700 million dollar contract with the Dodgers, that it's still making waves. Whether it's the $680 million dollars deferred after 2033, an opt out that's rather odd and what this does for the team's luxury tax? Quite a bit to unpack as this MLB Hot Stove has been rather cool, even with the Giants (who made an offer to Ohtani similar to what the Dodgers did) signed Korean outfielder Jung Hoo Lee to a six year/113 million dollar deal.

Vacation Recap To Paris/Rome. MLB's 100 Win Playoff Disappointments. AL/NLCS Preview. SF/PHI Fall From Undefeated In Awful Week 6. Huskies In College Football Playoff Mix? NHL & NBA News

Your favorite little sports podcast host is back on the scene after a week layoff. I'm excited to present my viewpoint on all of the latest happenings in sports. On deck:

(2:47) As the podcast took a respite last week, I'll get into my quick sojourn visiting the charm of Paris and the rich history of Rome. The most perfect weather a vacation could ever have, the sights, landmarks, etc. as I enjoyed seven days outside of the States.

(5:21) We're onto the American League & National League Championship Series as we're closer to the Fall Classic in baseball. I'll take a big picture view at first to discuss is it the layoff or schedule that's affected the 100 win teams (i.e. Orioles, Dodgers & Braves) as they had early exits in the Division Series? I'll talk about Game 1 in the ALCS as the Rangers draw first blood vs. the Astros. Can Houston rebound at home where they've been subpar all year? Then I'll breakdown the NLCS between Diamondbacks vs. Phillies. Are the D-backs game to pull off another upset? Or are the Fightin' Phils destined to get back to the World Series? In other news, history could possibly be made in San Francisco as they've interviewed Alyssa Nakken, who is on the Giants coaching staff, to be the manager in what would be a first in North American sports.

(29:23) The last two undefeated teams in the NFL (i.e. 49ers & Eagles) were upended over the course of a three hour time span. San Francisco loses at Cleveland behind QB Brock Purdy's worst performance as a pro. Later, the Jet defense rose to the occasion forcing the Eagles into four turnovers in an upset 20-14 win. I'll share my disdain for the NFL pondering a Super Bowl to be played in London somewhere in the distant future. One that I'm not in favor of, so you won't want to miss that. Week 6 was a lame one, if you ask me as this season hasn't been compelling or riveting, to say the least.

(45:53) Don't look now, but there's a team in the PAC-12 that making waves toward the top of the rankings in the nation as the Washington Huskies won a wild game vs. Oregon on Saturday. Are they college football final four material? I'll delve into the landscape of the sport as they're at the halfway point of the season, with teams jockeying for position to see if they'll be a part of the playoff mix come New Year's Eve.

(50:54) Hockey fans, the NHL season has arrived. For my over/under point totals, please check the YouTube channel linked below. Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews has gotten off to a torrid start as he's done something only four other players have ever achieved in the history of the sport.

(53:29) The Association (aka NBA) tips off a week from tomorrow. James Harden is still in Philadelphia. Please wake me up if he's been traded to another team before the season begins because I can't hack this soap opera anymore. Plus, the Celtics hire a former coach and analyst (Jeff Van Gundy) to become a consultant and the Bucks look midseason ready with the dynamic duo of Dame & Giannis, drawing rave reviews by the team and throughout the league.

Heat Grit, Guts Even Up NBA Final. Can They Pull Off An Upset? Concerns For Panthers In Vegas With Game 2 Looming? Yankees Show Up In LA. Mets Get Swept, Head To Atlanta. Novak-Alcaraz Clash On Deck?

Into the first week of June with plenty to divulge and dissect as yours truly is here to entertain and inform you all on what's taken place in sports over the past few days. On deck:

(2:38) I'd be remiss if I didn't wish a happy birthday in heaven to one of my favorite athletes of all time, one time Detroit Red Wing, later with the Chicago Blackhawks, Bob Probert, who would've been 58 today.

(3:17) We have some buzz in the NBA Finals as the Miami Heat were able to get this series even and back to South Beach with the homecourt over the next two games. They prevailed in what turned out to be a nail biter in Denver last night as the Heat once again showed their grit and gutted out another big victory on the road. How good are their chances to winning an NBA Final and pulling off the upset? I'll break it all down for you as the scene shifts to Miami. I'll also get into all of the coaching hires that have taken place over the past week, including Monty Williams's record breaking deal in Detroit.

(23:57) As for the Stanley Cup Finals, the Florida Panthers find themselves in a situation that they haven't been in about six weeks. Trailing in a series. They lose Game 1 in Vegas Saturday night, 5-2 as they pick up the pieces for a huge Game 2 tonight, as they try to get back to South Florida, similar to their basketball counterparts, tied at 1-1. Are there concerns? Can they recapture the magic that has led them to the Finals? In coaching news, the Washington Capitals hired Spencer Carbury who at 41, is the youngest coach in the league.

(31:13) The big showdown in LA over the weekend had the Yankees taking the back two games of their series against the Dodgers. After Luis Severino's uninspiring performance (and spotty future) on Friday night in an 8-4 loss, they bounced back behind Aaron Judge, Jake Bauers, Domingo German and Anthony Volpe in 6-3 and 4-1 wins on Saturday & Sunday. Then there are the Mets. They swept the Phillies during the middle part of last week, but then get swept over the weekend against the Blue Jays at home, which leaves their record at 30-30. Up next? Three games in Atlanta versus the first place Braves as they continue their inconsistent play this year. You know I'll have a few things to say about this, including an underachieving Justin Verlander in his first month as a Met. I'll go through the rest of the baseball landscape as the Rangers stay hot, the Mariners can't find their way (same for the Padres) and the Pirates have played better as they keep pace in the NL Central. And is this the end for Nationals P Stephen Strasburg as he has nerve damage in his right arm and his career is in jeopardy?

(45:49) The French Open has had zero drama after the first week at Roland Garros, but there's a potential storm brewing. The stars are aligning to have the heavyweight match between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinal come Friday. What this could mean for a tournament that needs all the attention that it can get?

Dodgers-Mets Showdown. Judge/Pujols Chasing HR Milestones. Yanks: AL East Slipping? Serena Survives. A Top Heavy College Football Preview. Gruden's Shameful Speech. John Wall's Recovery

As we finally get out of the Sports Dead Zone, Pt. 2, I've got plenty to get into as we can say 'hallelujah' and embrace a new month as we turn the calendar to September. On deck:

(5:36) After a brief rundown, I'll get into how thrilling the Dodgers-Mets series has been so far. Is this an NLCS preview? Aaron Judge and Albert Pujols are within distance of some historic home run milestones (61 & 700, respectively) The sport needs to be on top of this and celebrate it as it's become an afterthought with college football and the NFL back in our consciousness. Are the Yankees in the process of choking away an insurmountable lead in the AL East? The status of Justin Verlander's right calf. White Sox manager Tony LaRussa is out indefinitely due to health issues.

(23:32) Serena Williams wins her second round match at the US Open in three sets, which begs the question? Will this propel her to a long tournament run? Or did she leave it all out on the court to where she won't make it out of the weekend? On the men's side, the expected top players are still around (i.e. Nadal, Medvedev, etc.) Nick Kyrgios is trying to make it back to back Grand Slam finals runs. Can he do so?

(29:33) College football is back! I'll have a top heavy preview of the few (and likely) teams that will possibly be in the National Championship Game. And if any Cinderella teams (i.e. Cincinnati last year) has a shot to make it to the playoff on New Year's Eve? I'll take a look at three of the bigger matchups over the holiday weekend that could impact the race for the College Football Playoff.

(39:47) The NFL season starts a week from tonight. But my focus isn't on that at the moment. One thing I want to get off of my chest is former Raider coach Jon Gruden's shameful speech as he is shooting his shot to get back into football. I'm far from the morality police, but there are a few things that need to be said in light of his lame comments at the Little Rock Touchdown Club a couple of days ago that you won't want to miss. Also, Jimmy Garoppolo stays by the bay as he'll suit up for the 49ers as a backup this season. Why that could potentially cause a huge quarterback controversy down the road?

(49:52) LA Clippers guard John Wall revealed that he had contemplated suicide recently because of dealing with the loss of family members and his own physical health, as he's been out of the lineup the past couple of years. I bring this up to shed light that even with the status, big contracts and lifestyle, they are human beings at the end of the day.

(52:57) Cameron Smith, the #2 golfer in the world, transitions to the LIV Golf League. Was it a big surprise? Was this the worst kept secret in the sport?

Suns, Nets, Harden & The Opening Of The NBA Playoffs. Kershaw Robs Us Of Perfection. Vlad Jr.'s Exploits. NHL's Wild Card Homestretch. Derek Carr's No-Trade Clause? Baker Disrespected?

The upcoming holiday weekend has plenty of sports on the docket. I'll share what lies ahead and look back as to what's transpired as I take you through the universe on all that's happening. On deck:

(2:48) The NBA Playoffs are on the horizon as we're just about through the play-in tournament. I'll dissect all that has taken place to this point, what to expect in the final play in games (i.e. ATL-CLE & NO-LAC) tomorrow night and peek in on the opening weekend playoff slate, with predictions of who'll win. As well as, some very intriguing storylines circling around the Phoenix Suns, the Brooklyn Nets and James Harden & the Sixers.

(39:09) Dodgers P Clayton Kershaw pitched an absolute gem vs. the Twins where he was perfect through seven innings. I'll explain why he robbed us of a potential historic moment? The exploits of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (and why he should've won the MVP over Shohei Ohtani last year?), the slow start for Yankees P Gerrit Cole and how the Mets bounced back nicely after a typical brutal loss on Monday to win a series in Philadelphia.

(49:05) The NHL is getting into the homestretch of their regular season. The Avalanche and Panthers have played at a torrid clip recently and could be on a collision course to a Stanley Cup Final. There's still plenty of hockey to be played as I'll review which teams are still in the hunt for the wild card in each conference as we're just fifteen days away from the conclusion of the 82 game schedule.

(53:30) Derek Carr signs an extension with the Las Vegas Raiders, but a no-trade clause? Also, Baker Mayfield just can't shut up as he said recently on a podcast that he's been 'disrespected' in Cleveland. Where will he be shipped to? And when?

Dodgers Rising/Yankees Falling, Nets Title Chances Without KD? How Minneapolis Verdict Could Affect Sports World? NHL's Marleau's Mega Milestone! Julian Edelman's Next Stop: Canton?

I’ve got lots to get off of my chest as I take you through the sports universe as Episode 190 is ready for consumption. On deck:

(5:24) The polar opposites of what we’ve seen so far from the LA Dodgers (13-3, best record in the majors) and the NY Yankees (5-10, worst record in the American League) I’ll break down both teams to date and take a trip throughout the leagues and discuss AJ Hinch’s return to Houston, Carlos Rodon’s no-hitter, Shane Bieber’s historic start and an injury update on Ronald Acuna, Jr.

(30:08) The NBA concluded a very interesting week detailing Philadelphia overtaking the Brooklyn in the East. Analysis of the Nets title chances as players are consistently in and out of the lineup, the importance of Kevin Durant’s health and his presence on the floor, Coach Steve Nash’s and GM Sean Marks impact on the team while exhibiting some integrity to a veteran laden group. i’ll get into the key loss for Denver as Jamal Murray is done for the season. The close call from Donovan Mitchell as they’re still atop the West. Luka Doncic/Mark Cuban’s comments regarding the play-in tournament. Are they wrong? Newly minted part owner of the Jazz, Dwyane Wade and how his influence and pedigree could help come the postseason? Steph Curry is the Warriors all-time scorer in team history, And the potential outcome in Minneapolis as the jury deliberation will begin in the Derek Chauvin case. What does this mean for the world of sports? For society? I have a message to the sports fan that they may not want to hear, but is dripping with truth.

(56:21) The NHL will celebrate a moment that many never thought would happen. Sharks winger, Patrick Marleau will become the all time leader in games played at 1,768. I’ll compare this to other players of the past generation to show how much of an achievement this is for the game and the league overall. Also, the Canucks have played their first game in over three weeks due to players contracting the coronavirus. Will they try to squeeze in their full schedule over the next month? And some big games in the Central and Eastern Division this week as first place is up for grabs.

(1:05:24) Julian Edelman rides off into the sunset as he retires from the New England Patriots. Is the Pro Football Hall of Fame the next stop of his ‘football life’? Why I say it is NOT, as well as, is Justin Fields’s stock slipping among the top QB’s on the draft board as Round 1 of the NFL Draft is next Thursday?

(1:15:46) Of course, I’ll have my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Wild NFL Week 8. Are The Pats Done? Dallas In Primetime? Steel Grit! Trade Deadline Deals? Trevor Lawrence's NFL Future In NY? Clemson's Playoff Hopes? MLB & NBA News/Notes

On the eve of the biggest election ever, vote for yours truly, when you come to get fast paced, action packed sports talk as Episode 162 is chock full of nuggets sizzling in your earbuds or speakers. On deck:

(2:45) A competitive and wild NFL Week 8, highlighted by the winners and losers of Sunday. Are the Patriots done? Are you sold on the Bills? Should the Cowboys play in primetime? The aftermath of the best rivalry in football (Steelers-Ravens) A look ahead to Week 9 and what to expect as the trade deadline looms tomorrow?

(40:04) What a week for the Clemson Tigers! Not only was standout QB asked about his plans of entering the draft, but he also came down with COVID-19. I’ll share why he NEEDS to become a Jet (if they end up picking #1 overall) and with him out of the lineup vs. #4 Notre Dame, are the Tigers chances to make it the college football playoff in jeopardy? Also, is this the end of Jim Harbaugh at Michigan after another painful loss to Michigan State?

(54:45) I’ll spend a few minutes on Game 6 of the World Series, including, Justin Turner’s decision to join his teammates on the field to celebrate their title, as well as, managerial hirings in Chicago (White Sox) and Detroit. Steve Cohen officially is the Mets owner. And some big names on the baseball free agent market.

(1:06:17) I’ll take a brief trip through the NBA landscape as the league takes another financial hit with a late start to their season. A new GM lands in Philadelphia. Will this cause a potential discord between Daryl Morey and Doc Rivers? And Mike D’Antoni will assist head coach, Steve Nash in Brooklyn. What does this mean for Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving?

(1:13:32) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

A Sports Fan's Dilemma That's Unnoticed...Until NOW! Dodgers Smell Title/An Epic GM 4/Previewing GM 6. NFL WK 7 Winners/Losers, BIG 10 Upset, NBA To Start Before X-Mas?

I’ve got plenty of sports tricks and treats to serve as I close out October in spooky style as Episode 161 is up and running. On deck:

(2:37) I set up the podcast with a sports dilemma on the horizon that NO ONE has mentioned or brought up on TV, radio or other form of digital entertainment. I’ll explain later.

(3:39) I’ll recap the first five games of the World Series as the Dodgers are one win away from that elusive championship. I’ll get into various strategies by the managers AND analytics that’ll make you pull your hair out of your head. The euphoric, classic Game 4. Max Muncy’s nerve and preview a recipe for the Tampa Bay Rays to push it to a Game 7.

(25:29) The signing of Antonio Brown in Tampa Bay. What to possibly expect? The Ravens trade for a pass rushing lineman. All of the Week 7 winners and losers throughout the NFL, highlighting the Steelers rise, the Patriots fall, another putrid schedule in Week 8 and much more.

(49:24) The Big Ten enters the college football landscape and there’s already been a huge upset. I’ll discuss that, review a ho-hum Saturday and next week doesn’t look any better from a schedule perspective (except for Ohio State vs. Penn State)

(55:26) The NBA will decide later this week if a 72 game season starting before Christmas is feasible. What are the obstacles? Possibilities? Advantages? Disadvantages? I’ll share my thoughts on all of the above with analysis of coaching hires in New Orleans and Indiana. Also, is Gordon Hayward being shipped out of Boston?

(1:04:17) I close out with what I started at the top. How will we deal with the next two months (AT LEAST) with watching only ONE sport! A commentary that you won’t want to miss.

(1:09:22) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

The Overthinking Of October Baseball, Mets Next Manager Is? Two Unbeaten Teams Left & Other NFL Week 5 Storylines

CORRECTION: The NHL Carolina Hurricanes are off to an 3-0 start, not the Columbus Blue Jackets. My apologies for the faux pas.

The first podcast of October (Episode 94) will be sure to whet your sports appetite. Here’s what’s on deck:

The MLB postseason has been littered with highly questionable moves by managers when it comes to their starters and bullpen. I’ll discuss why overthinking has ruined some of these playoff games to date. I’ll also delve into these Division Series games in the AL/NL and my experience at Yankee Stadium as I was present for Game 1 vs. Minnesota. My beloved Mets made an unsurprising move as they’ve fired now former skipper, Mickey Callaway. What’s the plan for the front office as they’re looking to make a ‘splash’ in searching for their man to lead this team to the promised land? You know I’ll put in my two cents on this topic.

NFL Week 5 was pretty ho-hum, although you got an upset in Kansas City which now leaves us with only two unbeaten teams in the league (maybe one, after tonight’s Monday night matchup in San Francisco) I’ll check in on some of the big storylines of this past week and recap a tough loss for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I’ll also chime in on the latest in college football, the NHL, my Hero and Zero of the Week and a programming note that you won’t want to miss.

We’re down to the final weekend of the NFL regular season. Week 16 certainly took shape as far as playoff positioning in concerned. I’ll get right to it to dissect what happened in the AFC & NFC playoff picture, including a heartbreaking loss for the Pittsburgh Steelers in New Orleans. With the Black & Yellow on the outside looking in, what are their chances of making the postseason? Do they have a shot? I’ll shed some possible light on a dim and dire situation. Plus, the latest on the Jets (Sam Darnold trending up, Todd Bowles trending down) and Giants (Eli Manning’s 2019 return?) as they close out the string. I’ll take a look at the College Football Playoff Semifinal as to who’ll meet in the National Championship Game. All of the MLB Hot Stove news with the Mets, Yankees, the big Dodgers-Reds trade and what that could mean for Bryce Harper? World Series Recap/Mets GM Search, Jets/Giants/NFL Week 8, College Football, NHL, NBA

We cap off an exciting October of sports and crown a baseball champion on this weeks edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. The Boston Red Sox have won their fourth World Series title since 2004. I’ll delve into what it took for them to reach the MLB mountaintop and also dissect where it all went wrong for the Dodgers as they lose their second consecutive Fall Classic at home. I’ll also deep dive into what it must feel like for the Yankee fan the day after and where the rivalry next year could be headed between the two organizations. Plus, my thoughts on the Mets new GM, Brodie Van Wagenen and whether or not they made the right choice to take this team to the next level. I’ll recap all of Week 8 in the NFL, including the end of the 2018 Giants at the halfway point, with the Jets not that far behind. And insight on the debacle in Jacksonville, the Rams halfway to a perfect regular season and when Le’Veon Bell may come back to play with the Steelers. Don’t forget the week that was, and upcoming in college football, the NHL and what’s with all of these high scoring games in the NBA? Quite a bit to get into for your edification on this weeks episode of The JAYREELZ Podcast. (Episode 37)
