Fired up for another opportunity to do what I love, behind the microphone and in front of this camera (for those that are watching) sharing my thoughts and analysis on ALL that’s happening in sports. On deck:

(6:39) MLB is in the middle of their championship series as two teams are halfway to the World Series. The Yankees have handled the Guardians over the first two games of the series, winning both without breaking a sweat. Have I really been paying attention to this snoozefest of a showdown? I’ll talk about that on the back end of the baseball segment. The NLCS has the Dodgers up 2-1 after another shutout in a blowout Game 3 vs. the Mets. I’ll get into why the Mets MUST win Game 4 and even breakdown how important it is for them to get back to California up 3-2 with one game to punch their ticket to the Fall Classic?! CORRECTION: I said the the 90’s Cleveland Indian teams never got to a World Series in that decade (although I mentioned they lost to the Braves and Marlins in 1995 & 97 respectively). I meant to say that they never WON a World Series. My apologies for the error.

(29:18) After another disappointing loss on Monday night, the Jets may have found their cure to their recent losing ways acquiring former Raiders WR Davante Adams, reuniting him with QB Aaron Rodgers. I’ll explain why this is NOT the case that Adams will come in and save their season. There was another big move in their own division just hours after Adams coming East as the Bills trade for Amari Cooper. How big of a factor will he be for QB Josh Allen and their offense? Jerry Jones is in the news again. He had some not so nice words for a couple of radio talk show hosts about the state of the Cowboys. I have a few not so nice words for the ubiquitous owner of America’s Team. I’ll peek at the Week 7 schedule, where there are a couple of good games (DET-MIN, KC-SF) and two more Monday night games?

(47:23) College football has another big weekend with two enormous games (Georgia-Texas, Alabama-Tennessee) but what does this mean in the grand scheme of things? Is it much? Is it little to none?

(53:34) The NBA tips off in five days. I’ll review what the over/under win totals are as I prepare for an NBA Preview next week.

(59:42) On the ice, there was a wonderful tribute in Columbus for their fallen player, Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew, who both died due to a bike accident in late August. What’s going on in Colorado? The Avalanche have gotten off to an 0-4 start to their season. I’ll discuss that, Edmonton finally getting a win after three losses, the fast starts in Dallas and Calgary and a goaltender scoring a goal as we’re ten days into the regular season.

Mets Magic, Dodgers-Padres Civil War, Guardians Title Worthy? Yanks Unimpressive As LDS Begins. Jets, Niners & Bengals In Trouble? ‘Bama Leads Upset College Saturday. 2024 NHL Preview

I’m about to handle my business and may get a little personal because of what has transpired over the last few days and what’s to come as I roll up my sleeves and share all of the feels in the world of sports as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(6:33) After a brief mention of a Cowboys-Steelers matchup that lasted until 1:00am, the hunt for Red October in baseball shifts to a Division Series as the top two seeds are introduced in the AL & NL. First, I have to unpack how the Mets have gotten here. Where does Game 3 in Milwaukee rank in Met history after Pete Alonso’s heroics in the 9th inning? What about their Game 1 comeback of the LDS? And doing it again in Game 2 before losing? There is an issue regarding the magic that this team produced, which I’ll be sure to dissect as they come home with a chance to wrap up the series at Citi Field. There’s an all out battle on the West Coast. The Dodgers win Game 1 behind Shohei Ohtani’s game tying home run early in the contest. The Padres answer with a 10-2 win in Game 2, becoming testy with some of the Padres players and the fans in the stands. How much pressure are the Dodgers to win this series? The Guardians show up and tame the Tigers in their first game. Can they go deep into October and make a run for the title? Then the Yankees had to eke out a win in unimpressive fashion vs. Kansas City. I’ll get the full 30,000 foot view to date of what has taken place and see what lies ahead as we get into the middle of the week. Also, Terry Francona surprised the baseball world as he’s returning from a one year retirement to become the manager of the Cincinnati Reds.

(32:45) There are three teams that are facing a crossroads of their NFL season. The Jets lose over in London to fall to 2-3. The 49ers had no business losing at home to Arizona, but also fall a game under .500. And the Bengals could be over and out after squandering a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter to the Ravens, as their record stands at 1-4. Will these teams dig out of their respective holes to qualify for the playoffs in January? Of course, I’ll get into all of the craziness yesterday throughout the league, including my beloved Steelers whose defense were unable to answer Dak Prescott in the closing minutes of a gut punch of a loss against the Cowboys. And a belated farewell to Mercury Morris, the former Dolphin running back of the undefeated team back in 1972, who died a couple of weeks ago at the age of 77.

(57:25) If you thought the NFL had a crazy Sunday, college football said, I’ve got something for you. There were five major upsets in the sport, headlined by #1 Alabama losing to Vanderbilt. You also had #9 Missouri get whacked by #25 Texas A&M. Arkansas topping #4 Tennessee. #10 Michigan losing a championship rematch in Washington to the Huskies and USC gets stymied by Minnesota. What do these losses mean in the grand scheme of college football playoff things?

(1:05:27) The puck has already dropped on the NHL season with two games that the New Jersey Devils won in Prague vs. the Buffalo Sabres, but I’ll unpack the top storylines, over/under point totals, surprises, disappointments and a Stanley Cup Final prediction as the curtain will raise in earnest tomorrow night.

(1:24:21) Alex Pereira retained his light heavyweight title at UFC 307 in a tussle that turned out to be more than what it was, stopping Khalil Rountree in the fourth round on Saturday night.

Will The Mets Punch Their Ticket To October? Plus, MLB Wild Card Storylines. Ravens Romp, Jets Flop & Another Monday Night Double Dip!? ‘Bama Avoids Collapse, Now #1. KAT: The Final Piece In NY?

Rumbling, bumbling and fumbling through the last podcast of the month, after being AWOL on Thursday, you know I’ll show out as best as I could to unpack all that’s happening in the world of sports. On deck:

(6:45) I’d be remiss if I didn’t apologize for not releasing a podcast last Thursday. To those who were curious or wondering what happened? I’ll explain here and share why and how it all transpired.

(8:44) To my fellow Met fans, let’s exhale. Today, they have two games to play, but all we want AND need is just one victory. ONE! Why? Because one win will qualify for the postseason and complete the unexpected run to a berth in October. I’ll unpack the NL Wild Card playoff scenario as the Mets will play a doubleheader in Atlanta to finalize the bracket, which will commence tomorrow either in San Diego, Milwaukee, or dare I say, home! I’ll preview the AL Wild Card (KC-BAL & DET-HOU) with intriguing storylines heading into the first round of the MLB playoffs. I’ll also get into some news and notes throughout the sport (Reds manager OUT in Cincinnati. Same in Miami with Skip Schumaker. The White Sox lose a record 121 games. Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon retiring and the A’s final game in Oakland.)

(34:11) NFL Week 4 wasn’t much to write home about. My takeaways from yesterday? Are the Ravens ‘that team’ after demolishing the previously undefeated Bills last night? Could this Jet team face some turmoil after another brutal loss at home to Denver? Do the Steelers have their QB of the present and future after another solid performance by Justin Fields? The week wraps up with another Monday night doubleheader this evening. Does anyone else like the double dip in primetime? Or just stick to the one game?

(57:11) Alabama averted an epic disaster to their rival Georgia at home on Saturday night in what turned out to be a classic. Are the Crimson Tide on the inside track to be a title contender? I’ll discuss the two bad losses to top teams (#6 Ole Miss and #10 Utah) on Saturday and one that survived a Hail Mary (#8 Miami) vs. VA Tech.

(1:06:08) NBA training camps open today as the NBA season begins three weeks from tomorrow. A blockbuster trade took place on Friday where the Knicks acquired Minnesota big man, Karl Anthony Towns comes to New York, fortifying a roster built to get to an NBA Finals. Is Towns the final piece to their championship puzzle? Former MVP, Derrick Rose calls it a career after a 16 year run in the Association. Is he bound for the Hall of Fame?

Road Warrior Astros Get Back In Series. Phillies On Mission To Win NL Again. Dolphins-Eagles Headline Rough Week 7. Penn St. Big Opportunity To Move Up In Ranks. Spurs Wembanyama Hype Overboard?

Another big sports weekend awaits. You know I've got you covered as I'll detail all of the latest and greatest throughout the landscape. On deck:

(2:30) Both League Championship Series in baseball are in the middle games as we look to see who'll face off in the Fall Classic. The Houston Astros have gotten off the mat in the ALCS and drew a game closer, thanks to the ineffective mercenary Max Scherzer. Can the defending world champs push this series back to Houston and possibly take a 3-2 lead? As for the NLCS, it looks like the Phillies are on a mission to repeat as NL champs, up 2-0. Will the Diamondbacks make this a series as the scene shifts to Arizona? I also have some thoughts on how this has been a postseason to forget at this point, the Marlins major screw up as former GM Kim Ng departs and what got into former MLB and now retired pitcher, Trevor May as he had some choice words for Oakland A's owner, John Fisher?

(23:07) NFL Week 7 has a huge Sunday night game(i.e. Miami at Philadelphia) and not much else. Does this game mean more for the Dolphins? Eagles? You do have the Lions going to Baltimore to play the Ravens. After that, it's a rough go on Sunday. I can't help but rail against how this season has been underwhelming due to several factors. Plus, my issue with the schedule and how the product is being worn thin that you'll have to tune in and hear for yourself.

(32:59) College football's Week 8 schedule has a couple of intriguing matchups, headlined by Penn St at Ohio State. I'll get into how this is a huge game for the Nittany Lions if they want to rank with the Buckeyes or Michigan Wolverines in a weak Big 10 conference.

(36:33) The NBA season is just five days away and the hype surrounding Spurs #1 pick, Victor Wembanyama has gone overboard. Now we have to watch highlights of him making passes to other players who are missing shots in a PRESEASON GAME?! You know I have quite a bit to say about this as we get ready to watch his rookie year unfold.

(42:42) On the ice, the NHL has been quiet since we last met on Monday. I'll briefly touch on Blackhawks #1 pick, Connor Bedard and the start of his first week plus in the league. Also, which teams have gotten off to a good start and who hasn't?

Fraudulent Rays Headline Wild Card Duds. AL/NLDS Storylines. NFL Schedule Spread Thin? DAL-SF Matchup. Swifties Take Over NFL? A 2023 NHL Preview. Harden Reports, Shots Fired From LA To DEN?

Excited to divulge a complete smorgasbord of sports talk before yours truly takes a little layoff as the latest podcast is at your fingertips. On deck:

(2:44) A little housekeeping to begin as yours truly is taking a little trip to celebrate a second wedding anniversary. Therefore, no podcasts are on tap for next week. I'll be back on October 16th to recap all that's transpired in sports. But have no fear, please go to my YouTube channel to subscribe and like (see link toward the bottom of the show notes) as I'll be sure to deliver whatever shakes down in the sports world over the next week and a half so you won't miss a beat.

(5:07) It was a very disappointing Wild Card round in MLB as you witnessed four sweeps in the process. The most head shaking of them all is how the Rays meekly went out after a big regular season. Same for the Brewers who fell flat on their faces vs. Arizona. NEWS FLASH: Minnesota FINALLY got over the hump. Not only to win a playoff game, but a SERIES in beating the Blue Jays. And the lights were a little too bright for the Marlins as the Phillies took care of them at Citizens Bank Park. I'll preview the storylines and predict how the Division Series will unfold. Can the Astros repeat? Will the Braves avenge last October's loss to the Phillies? Does Arizona have any chance against the Dodgers? Are the Orioles ready to take that next step and beat the Rangers? I'll have all of that, as well as, Guardian manager Terry Francona steps down as manager. Is he going to go off into the sunset and retire? Although I touched on this Monday regarding Buck Showalter's fate as Mets manager, but I dig into this a little bit more as I read one story that translated a different narrative from the truth.

(30:35) NFL Week 5 has a less than stellar schedule (although you do have Cowboys-Niners on Sunday night, which I'll discuss) Is the NFL spreading their schedule thin having to appease the networks and streaming services alike? Is Taylor Swift coming to a stadium near you? Well, The Shield (aka NFL) is here for it as ratings and interest has ratcheted up throughout the nation. Does the NFL need more fans?

(37:54) Week 6 in college football is light. You do have the Red River Shootout between #12 Oklahoma vs. #3 Texas, with Alabama visiting Texas A&M. Washington St. vs. UCLA and Kentucky vs. Georgia are your key matchups to get you through a Saturday afternoon/evening.

(39:51) It's just about time to drop the puck on another NHL season. The curtain will be raised on Tuesday. I'll get into some of the stories to pay attention to (i.e. A repeat in Vegas? Will the Leafs get to the Cup Final?) I'll take a different approach to previewing what to expect this year with surprise teams, disappointments and who'll be in the Stanley Cup Finals come next spring? I'll hold off on my over/under point totals as I thought to show a little integrity and not just wing it when selecting three overs & three unders. Peep my YouTube channel as I will thoroughly think these over and have them up before the puck drops early next week.

(54:33) The Association is starting to percolate as we're less than three weeks to their season commencing. James Harden is back in the news as he reported to training camp for the Sixers. What's going to happen from here on out? Also, the Lakers and Nuggets have added some spice to their opening night contest as there's been some banter and shots fired between the two teams, dating back to the championship parade. Will this lead to fireworks come October 24th?

Astros Steal AL West. Unsexy MLB Wild Card Matchups. Why The 49ers Aren't The Best Team In NFL? No More Colorado Talk! Europe Survives In Ryder Cup. Celtics Trade Shifts Power In East

Pumped up and excited to cross another threshold in the five and a half plus years of this endeavor as I have another jam packed, chock full of sports talk that'll have your cup runneth over. On deck:

(3:08) Some housekeeping to start as I want to say THANK YOU to all who've listened, followed, subscribed and downloaded the podcast over the years as this episode reaches another milestone (#400) as I continue to do what I love for you guys and gals.

(5:15) There wasn't a lot of drama over the final weekend of the baseball season, but you had some teams thrive (i.e. Marlins) and a few teams dive (i.e. Rangers, Diamondbacks) as they head into the postseason. Another team that thrived was the Houston Astros as they won another AL West Division title, thanks to the ineptitude of the Rangers as they'll sit and wait for the Division Series, which will begin on Saturday. I'll preview a rather unsexy Wild Card playoff picture where you'll see Rangers-Rays, Blue Jays-Twins, Diamondbacks-Brewers and Marlins-Phillies. I'll also get into the Mets and manager Buck Showalter parting ways. I'll throw my hat in the ring as to who is the perfect candidate for their next skipper (although he will not get a sniff), my awful over/under numbers for the season and terrible news surrounding the untimely death of former Pirates and Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield, who passed away at the age of 57.

(32:30) The San Francisco 49ers are off to a 4-0 start, but are they the league's best team? I'll explain why they aren't after four games. I'll share my winners (i.e. Buffalo, Denver) and losers (i.e. New Orleans, Cincinnati) in what was not a good Week 4 in the NFL. I also have to express my discontent of how the impact of Taylor Swift has made The Shield (aka NFL) even more popular, if that's possible.

(53:42) I have nothing against Deion Sanders or the Colorado Buffaloes, but no more talk about them after their poor performance in a loss vs. USC at home this past Saturday. Notre Dame answered the bell down the stretch, something they couldn't do the week before against Ohio State. Ole Miss wins a wild game against conference opponent LSU. And Florida was a no show at Kentucky as Week 5 in college football concludes with a small bang.

(57:16) The Europe squad thwarted a late charge by the Americans in Rome over the weekend as they were victorious in the Ryder Cup. The other story that caused a buzz was Rory McIlroy confronting a caddie after the US team celebrated at the 18th hole on Saturday as they were making a comeback. Was it much ado about nothing?

(59:03) Another big trade took place in the Association as the Celtics acquired former Bucks guard Jrue Holiday for Robert Williams, Malcolm Brogdon and two #1 picks. Was it too much to give up? Does the shift of power go back to Boston after Milwaukee traded for Damian Lillard last week?

(1:01:31) Hockey fans, the NHL is on the way this week as the season will begin on Saturday. One big player that won't suit up is Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy. He'll be out for two months after back surgery. How huge of a hit is that for the former back to back Cup champs?

(1:02:16) Canelo Alvarez dominated in defending his super middleweight title vs. Jermell Charlo in an unanimous win on Saturday night. Did anyone pay attention?

Phillies Improbable Run. Astros Dominant. Yankees Uncertain Offseason In AL/NLCS Recap. Packers/Bucs: Who Has It Worse? Clemson Survives. Lakers/Sixers: Panic? Jazz/Blazers: Undefeated?!

Halloween is a week away, but I have some early tricks and a few treats as we walk through the sports neighborhood as the latest edition has arrived! On deck:

(3:51) The stage is set as we have our World Series matchup beginning on Friday. The Phillies swept their three home games as they dispose of the Padres in five. I compare this to a recent Wild Card playoff team and how they've been hot ever since the tournament started. The NLCS MVP Bryce Harper finally makes it to his first Fall Classic as I'll chronicle his career to this point. As for the Padres, it was a good year and one to build on, but there are a couple of question marks that need to be answered as they have to deal with their suspended star shortstop (Fernando Tatis Jr.) and the specter of Juan Soto's expensive contract demands looming.

(17:28) The Astros continue their postseason dominance, starting off 7-0 as they sweep the Yankees in the ALCS. They've won it close. They've won high scoring games. Coming from behind. They look like a team that's primed and ready for a championship. Then, there are the Yankees. Tons of uncertainty as the GM Brian Cashman's contract is up. Who could possibly be in line to take over? I have a fascinating suggestion. Also, a breakdown of the organization from the manager, some players that need to go, (including one of their younger, core players) and what happens to Aaron Judge, now that he'll become a free agent?

(40:35) A rather lackluster NFL Week 7 took place, but there is a huge question regarding two of the sports biggest teams (i.e. Packers & Buccaneers) as to who is in worse shape moving forward? That duo highlights my losers of the week and I'll share a surprising winner of Sunday as I take a look the games unfolded as we creep up on the halfway point of the season. I'll also share my thoughts on the Christian McCaffrey trade to San Francisco. Will his addition automatically make them a Super Bowl contender?

(1:01:34) Clemson survived a scare at home vs. Syracuse as they had to overcome multiple turnovers and their backup QB Cade Klubnik had to save the day as the pull out a 27-21 win. You had two more at the bottom of the top 10 drop out after losses (i.e. Ole Miss & UCLA) as we move deeper into this college football season.

(1:05:09) The Lakers and Sixers have gotten off to sluggish starts as they're both 0-3. Is Doc Rivers in any trouble in Philadelphia? How about the Blazers and Jazz? Both are off to 3-0 starts, making me look like a fool early on as I chose them as unders this year. Plus, the Pelicans suffered their first loss last night, but in the process lost Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson to injury. Is this a cause for concern just a few games into the season?

(1:08:32) There are a couple of big injuries to some high profile players in the NHL. Avalanche forward, Gabriel Landeskog will be out three months due to arthroscopic knee surgery. And Panthers defenseman, Aaron Ekblad is on long term IR with a groin injury. How much will they be missed from their respective teams?

Yankees Pivotal Game 2 A Must? Can SD Win Two In Philly As AL & NLCS Is Underway. Top Teams On Byes Lead To Weak NFL Week 7. Pelicans Show Out, Suns Show Up & Celtics New Coach Highlight NBA

The little engine that could keeps on steaming down the track as your little podcast host continues to pump out the passion, fire, energy and fury on all that's happening in the sports world. On deck:

(3:28) We're into the Championship Series in the MLB where the Astros drew first blood in Game 1 against the Yankees. How imperative is it for the Bombers to win Game 2 if they have any chance to punch their ticket to the World Series? Also, the Padres get even as the scene shifts to Philadelphia over the weekend where the series is tied at 1-1. I'll look into my crystal ball to see what could possibly happen over the next three days as we await to see who'll come out of each league and represent in the Fall Classic?

(20:57) NFL Week 7 is looking pretty light, as evidenced by three of the top teams in the league to date (Buffalo, Minnesota and Philadelphia) all on byes this week. I'll take a look at what's on the football table to see if there is anything appetizing in prime time, at 1:00pm or 4:25pm as we inch closer to the halfway point of the season.

(26:17) The same can be said for Week 8 in college football as there isn't much to write home about (does Syracuse-Clemson tickle your fancy?) I'll go over what may be worth watching and what isn't?

(29:17) The NBA fan can rejoice as the season is underway. I'll get into a couple of storylines of the first two nights (LeBron lashing out some truths at his teammates in a loss against Golden State, Zion & the Pelicans handle the Nets, Phoenix exacting some revenge against Dallas) and how the Celtics interim coach, Joe Mazzulla will navigate a team that went to the Finals last year, how he'll fare this year and when the true test will be for the first time head coach?

(40:21) I can't forget the hockey fan as the NHL is now nine days into their campaign. I'll take a trip around the ice to see what has transpired over the first three or four games and a surprise last place team that no one was coming.

Dodgers/Braves Bow Out Meekly, Astros Win In '4'? Yanks-Guardians GM 5 Headline MLB! Eagles Path To NFC's #1 Seed A Lock? Bama Loss Adds Wrinkle To Playoff? 10 Teams Could Win NBA Title: A Preview

The sports fan rejoices as we're in the middle of a busy time in the calendar as there are lots to divulge, dive into and dissect as yours truly will break it all down over the next hour plus. On deck:

(3:44) It was another wild weekend of baseball as three of the Division Series have concluded. The two big stories were the 111 regular season winning Dodgers quietly exiting out of the postseason, to go along with the NL East champion Braves in four games to the Padres and Phillies, respectively. I'll share some critique as to how high the expectations were and how much both teams fell short, while highlighting the surging NLCS teams and who'll represent the National League in the World Series. As for the American League, the Astros beat the Mariners in 'four games', considering they won a Game 3 in a sweep that took 18 innings to complete. Then, there are the Yankees and Guardians as they'll play in a do or die Game 5 at Yankee Stadium tonight to get to the ALCS. I'll have a prediction and a scenario for either team if they face off against the Astros as to who'll come out of the AL. I'll spend a moment on the passing of Hall of Fame closer, Bruce Sutter, who died at the age of 69 late last week.

(21:29) As crazy the city of Philadelphia is over their baseball team, the football team has been perfect so far in 2022. Currently 6-0, the Eagles have been the class of the NFC to date. Even with the Giants breathing down their necks in the division and have already beaten the 5-1 Vikings this year, is it possible with an easy schedule that they have a clear path to the #1 seed in the conference? I'll recap Week 6 with my winners (Buffalo, Atlanta) and losers (Green Bay. Don't worry Jet fans, I got you & Cleveland) as I go through yesterday's slate of games.

(40:17) Alabama falls out of the top four after a wild, high scoring affair in Knoxville vs. Tennessee. I'll have an early take as to what this loss for the Crimson Tide could mean for the college football playoff at the end of the year. Is Alabama done? Do they control their own destiny? I'll also take a look at USC's tough loss in the closing seconds. Oklahoma State drops out of the top 10 losing to TCU and Michigan keeps on trucking after they dismantled Penn State.

(50:02) The NBA season is upon us as it tips off tomorrow night. I'll have all of the intriguing storylines heading into the campaign. I'll breakdown each division, predict my over/under win totals for the year and who'll be in the NBA Finals in June and come out on top. NOTE: My Finals prediction comes during my wrap up segment at the end of the podcast.

Astros Exorcism On Deck? Upstart Braves Make Series Return! Are The Bengals For Real? Big Ten Battle Royale! Time To Ship Ben Simmons, But Where? NBA 75th All Time Team Snubs & Misses

As we enter the week of Halloween, the sports world always has a couple of treats, but quite a few tricks. I'll pass out some of the good and bad as Episode #221 is ready for consumption. On deck:

(5:09) Baseball fans! The Fall Classic is set! I'll review the roads that the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves took to get to the World Series, the storylines of this upcoming series and how they'll fare as they shoot for a championship (and I'll have a prediction, of course). I'll also get into how the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers limp into the offseason, the Cardinals fire and hire a new manager and should former Giants GM Brian Sabean receive a call from the New York Mets about their front office position?

(33:35) NFL Week 7 was a complete atrocity. The schedule produced a lot of lopsided scores as it was a week to forget. I'll have my winners (CIN, LV) and losers (KC, SF) and take a peek at at Week 8 slate that looks just as bad as Week 7.

(47:32) Penn St. becomes the latest top ranked team to take an 'L' in college football, but the battle royale will begin in the Big Ten starting this weekend as the schedule intensifies in the conference. I'll discuss that, as well as, will Alabama get picked off before the SEC Championship Game based on their recent sloppy play?

(55:55) The Lakers and Nets have gotten off to not so good starts, but the talk in the Association is the saga of Ben Simmons and his likely departure in Philadelphia. What should the 76ers do? How will they go about getting rid of the mercurial point guard? I'll check on the hot and cold starts to some of the teams throughout the league. And you know, I have to add my two shiny red pennies to the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team. How I disagree with a couple of selections and a few snubs that's getting traction, but not with yours truly. You won't want to miss on what I have to say about that!

(1:14:38) The NHL is into its second week. The Blackhawks are the latest team to get hit by COVID and they haven't won a game so far this season. I'll go through some of the teams that are making waves to this point and the others that surprisingly are scuffling out of the gate.

(1:17:57) And to close, there's my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Is An Astros/Dodgers Collision Course Likely? Gone Gruden/NFL Week 6 Winners & Losers. #2 Iowa Upended/College Coaches In The News. 2021-22 NBA Preview. Gonzaga's Preseason #1

The podcast may have been postponed by a day, but that means more to divulge from yours truly, as I'll delve into everything that the sports world has to offer as Episode #220 is hot off of the presses. On deck:

(5:34) I start off the podcast with a little housekeeping as I discuss my whereabouts over the past week, as to why I didn't release my usual Monday podcast yesterday.

(7:45) The MLB postseason gets us off the deck. It hasn't been the most memorable or one to remember just yet. I'll go over why it's been underwhelming to this point (i.e. White Sox, Rays and Brewers.) The controversial 'check swing' call in the Division Series finale between the Dodgers and Giants. (Although it didn't affect the outcome of the situation. I'll explain!) I'll bring you up to speed on the current state of the AL & NLCS, which begs the question? Can the Astros and Dodgers fight back to win their respective series with a date for a World Championship on the line? What would be the best World Series matchup of the final four teams left? Also, the Yankees re-sign Aaron Boone as their manager, but for how long?

(27:01) NFL Week 6 had its moments, but it was overshadowed by the resignation of Raiders head coach, Jon Gruden. I have a thought on that, in connection with the Washington Football Team and owner Daniel Snyder as to get his feet to the fire on all that's taken place down in the Nation's Capital over the past decade. I'll share my winners (BAL & JAX) and losers (CLE, CHI) of the week. As well as, the bloom is off of the rose regarding CBS color commentator Tony Romo as his schtick has become tiresome, in my eyes.

(48:42) The Iowa Hawkeyes caused a stir as the latest in the top four of college football to lose and plummet in the rankings. Even bigger news was reported off the field as three coaches (LSU's Ed Orgeron's exit at the end of the year, Texas A&M's Jimbo Fisher shooting down rumors to LSU and Washington State's Nick Rolovich was jettisoned because he did not get vaccinated prior to the deadline set by the administration.) Plus, an early look at the upcoming schedules in the Big Ten over the next month and change for Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State and Michigan State.

(59:32) The NBA tips off its 75th season and I have lots to dive into as far as storylines (i.e. Are we destined for a Nets-Lakers Finals? The soap opera that is the Nets (i.e. Kyrie Irving). Why Anthony Davis is the key to winning a championship? Can Utah and Phoenix rebound from great regular seasons last year?) among other questions throughout the league. I'll have a preview, my over/under numbers, an NBA Finals prediction and what will the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team will look like?

(1:26:29) The NHL season is a week old. Just a couple of things to get into whether it's the Kraken's first ever victory, Islanders slow start, an early injury impacting the back to back Cup winning Tampa Bay Lightning and the troubles continue in the life of Sharks forward, Evander Kane, as he's been suspended for 21 games because of established violation of COVID protocols.

(1:29:28) College basketball, anyone? I'll discuss who the preseason #1 is and go through the top 10 as this sport will make its way into our stratosphere in the not too distant future.

(1:30:53) As always, to close out, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Please subscribe, leave a rating and post a review on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spreaker, Stitcher, Spotify, Luminary, Amazon Music and iHeartRadio or wherever you get your podcasts.

Rays On The Ropes/MLB Postseason Update, Chiefs Ineptitude Headline WK 5 Winners & Losers, 'Bama Done For Playoff? 21-22 NHL Preview. Fury-Wilder III A Classic?

It was a busy sports week throughout the landscape so you know I got you covered as Episode #219 is ready to rumble with some fast paced, action packed sports talk. On deck:

(5:08) I start off with some housekeeping to forewarn you about playing injured as I battle through the podcast with a very hoarse voice.

(6:28) I recap the past week of the MLB playoffs as I get into the controversy of Game 3 with the ground rule double of the Red Sox-Rays. Can the Rays save their historic regular season and push the series to a decisive fifth game? The Astros took a 2-0 series lead, but the White Sox have made it interesting, amidst reports of a Sox pitcher claiming that there may be some sign stealing going on. Can the Astros close them out in their own park? In the National League, the Dodgers evened up their hotly contested series against their bitter rivals in San Francisco. Can the defending champs close out the 107 regular season win Giants? And will the Braves be able to upset the Brewers in a low scoring couple of games that led to a split in Milwaukee? I'll also discuss the exits of two managers in San Diego and my beloved Mets as they'll be in search mode for a new skipper.

(24:38) The week (five) that was in the NFL was rather quiet despite a couple of exciting games. I'll get into the winners (Rams & Eagles) and losers (Chiefs & Raiders as I go in on both teams, including the controversy surrounding Raider coach, Jon Gruden's comments a decade ago) and everything else that went down (ahem, Jaguars coach, Urban Meyer), including a look into Week 6 (which looks to be more of a bore) of the schedule.

(44:51) College football had a classic Red River Shootout (Oklahoma vs. Texas), but the Alabama Crimson Tide losing at Texas A&M was the top story of Saturday. What are their chances of making the college football playoff now that they've dropped to #5 in the nation? Plus, all of the other action as the top of the heap continues to flip flop as the drama builds in the sport.

(55:52) The fall and winter sports will usher in over the next two weeks. Up first, is the NHL as I'll preview the top storylines (Lightning three-peat? Kraken's inaugural season, Maple Leafs rebound from playoff disappointment. CORRECTION: The Maple Leafs did not win the Eastern Conference last year. It was the Northern Division), go through the divisions and present a Stanley Cup Final prediction and winner, which may or may not surprise you!

(1:09:17) I'll spend a minute or two on the damage control by the representation of Sixers guard, Ben Simmons as he's losing money by the second as he continues to not report to the team. Why this is going to be irreparable with the fans and the impact that it'll have if he stays in Philadelphia?

(1:10:39) There was a heavyweight fight in boxing as the third fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder squaring off in Vegas turned out to be an absolute slugfest. Was it an instant classic?

(1:13:02) To close out, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

(1:15:39) I'll also have a programming note for next week's podcast that you won't want to miss.

MLB Postseason Storylines, Wild Card & Division Series Predictions. Brady's Return To NE Highlights NFL Week 4 Winners & Losers. Cincy's Quest To FBS Playoff? Kyrie's Saga As Season Looms

One of the best, if not, the best sports month of the year has arrived as we've turned the calendar to October and here to deliver all that the sports world has to offer as Episode #218 is ready to be streamed, downloaded and consumed. On deck:

(5:38) I have to vent about how my current sports life, to put it bluntly, sucks right about now! I'll get into why I start off this podcast in such a feisty mood.

(10:17) The marathon of a baseball season is over. Now it's onto the Hunt for Red October as the postseason is about to commence. I'll dive into the top storylines on the eve of the playoffs, key injuries, the matchups of the Wild Card and Division Series, with some early predictions as the chase for the World Series Trophy is all set.

(33:19) I highlight the winners (i.e. Arizona & Seattle) and losers (Tennessee & New Orleans) of Week 4 in the NFL. It was a rather ho-hum Sunday throughout the league, but the biggest game in several years took place as the return of Tom Brady to his old stomping grounds in Foxborough as the Buccaneers squeaked by the Patriots in a much ballyhooed matchup between the defending Super Bowl champs and Bill Belichick. I'll delve into all that transpired this past week for Brady and his former team. I'll even share a thought on the announcement of the Super Bowl halftime show of Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige.

(55:55) Look out college football, but there may be an underdog that's here to stay in the playoff scenario as the Cincinnati Bearcats upset the Notre Dame Fightin' Irish, which begs the question, can they possibly be a representative for the Final Four come New Years' Eve? I'll breakdown the potential angles of how they can make it, plus, quite a few top teams take a hit to their championship aspirations (i.e. Arkansas, Notre Dame, Florida and Oregon) in another wild and wacky Saturday in the sport.

(1:04:31) The NBA season starts in just two weeks. Vaccinations in two locales (i.e. New York and San Francisco) have become hot topics, in particular for Nets point guard, Kyrie Irving. I'll have an update on him and Warriors guard Andrew Wiggins as the league prepares for the upcoming 75th anniversary of the Association.

(1:07:02) An interesting story has come about in the NHL regarding Vegas goalie, Robin Lehner and how there's been medical malpractice throughout the league when it comes to abusing pharmaceuticals. Will this been an ongoing story as the league raises its curtain a week from tomorrow?

(1:09:41) As always, I conclude with my Hero and Zero of the Week.

(58:42) The journey of the Rays, Astros, Braves and Dodgers to the LCS. The Rays’ resourcefulness, the Astros DNA. My recipe for the 2021 Yankees to make it to the World Series. And MLB’s nightmare matchup for the 2020 World Series.

(1:25:04) The impact of #1 overall pick, Alexis LaFreniere’s impact on the NY Rangers. An up to the second breakdown of NHL free agency.

(1:30:10) Rafael Nadal wins his 13th French Open and 20th Grand Slam title overall. Would you prefer balance in your major slam tournament wins?

The color of the leaves are changing, the temperature is getting cooler, but the sports universe is always packing heat as I dissect and deliver all that’s going on with Episode 158. On deck:

(1:00:10) I’ll review the first three games of the NBA Finals. Is anyone watching/following? Doc Rivers coaching tenure in LA is done. Should he have been let go? In the process, he’ll move across the country to Philadelphia. What does this mean for Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons? Is a breakup on the horizon? Also, what is Kyrie Irving thinking about players collaborating with Steve Nash on coaching the Brooklyn Nets this year? You KNOW I have a thing or two to say about that!

(1:15:02) Are the Tampa Bay Lightning a legitimate champion? I’ll explain why and what does that mean about the NBA & MLB during this strange year we’re living in? Another wild, jam packed sports week to fill you in on as I have a LOT to get off my chest! Episode 157 has it ALL. On deck:

(3:07) An NBA Finals preview as the Heat face off against the Lakers. Is Miami for real? Are they potential ‘frauds’? The Lakers quest, the ghost of Kobe Bryant, a parallel between this series and the 2004 NBA Finals?

(23:36) I’ll have a commentary on the collapse of the Celtics. Who’s to blame? What needs to improve for next season?

(36:49) NFL Week 3 winners and losers. Drew Brees not able to stretch the field? Russell Wilson MVP votes in Week 3… WEEK 3!!!!! Nick Foles magic? Not so fast! The case for Justin Herbert to become a full time starter, but we know the deal! TJ Watt vs. JJ Watt and a BRUTAL Week 4 schedule.

Another Winter I Can Sleep In Peace (RIP 2019 Yankees), Nats-Astros WS Preview. NFL Week 7, Tua's Ankle, NBA '19-20 Preview & Storylines

Back after a week off, there’s a plethora of sports chatter to get into as I present (Episode 95) to you all. On deck is the following:

The Yankees fell short of reaching the World Series, not only this year, but the entire decade for the first time in over 100 years. I promise to not throw a lot of dirt on their 2019 grave, but there are a few bullet points to get to regarding this series vs. Houston and their outlook for 2020. Including a thought about a trade chip on their squad that could bring back a top of the rotation pitcher.

I’ll preview the World Series between Washington vs. Houston with my bold prediction. I’ll also chime in on the latest rumors regarding the Mets managerial position which you’ll get a kick out of.

NFL Week 7 was rather ehhh, to be quite honest, but I’ll share my thoughts on some of the top stories of the weekend throughout the league.

Tua Tagovailoa’s ankle injury and surgery was the biggest news coming out of college football this weekend. Will that affect their national title hopes?

The NBA season is about to get underway. I’ll get into the top storylines heading into this campaign, over/under win totals, NBA Finals predictions, as we get ready to usher in another year for the Association.

Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

The Overthinking Of October Baseball, Mets Next Manager Is? Two Unbeaten Teams Left & Other NFL Week 5 Storylines

CORRECTION: The NHL Carolina Hurricanes are off to an 3-0 start, not the Columbus Blue Jackets. My apologies for the faux pas.

The first podcast of October (Episode 94) will be sure to whet your sports appetite. Here’s what’s on deck:

The MLB postseason has been littered with highly questionable moves by managers when it comes to their starters and bullpen. I’ll discuss why overthinking has ruined some of these playoff games to date. I’ll also delve into these Division Series games in the AL/NL and my experience at Yankee Stadium as I was present for Game 1 vs. Minnesota. My beloved Mets made an unsurprising move as they’ve fired now former skipper, Mickey Callaway. What’s the plan for the front office as they’re looking to make a ‘splash’ in searching for their man to lead this team to the promised land? You know I’ll put in my two cents on this topic.

NFL Week 5 was pretty ho-hum, although you got an upset in Kansas City which now leaves us with only two unbeaten teams in the league (maybe one, after tonight’s Monday night matchup in San Francisco) I’ll check in on some of the big storylines of this past week and recap a tough loss for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I’ll also chime in on the latest in college football, the NHL, my Hero and Zero of the Week and a programming note that you won’t want to miss.

The Hunt For Red October/MLB Postseason Preview, Trolling Yankee Fans. Mets: Is Mickey Out? NFL WK 4 Takeaways. NHL '19-'20, Kyrie's 'I Failed' Comment

Closing out the month of September in grand fashion as Episode 93 will not disappoint when it comes what I have to say about what’s happening in the world of sports. On deck:

The MLB Postseason begins with the NL & AL Wild Card games on Tuesday and Wednesday. I’ll tell you who’ll move on to face the Dodgers and Astros respectively. I’ll also take an early look into the Division Series to preview what lies ahead for the Cardinals-Braves and Twins-Yankees. Plus, I have a message for Yankee fans out there, who had a few things to say about Pete Alonso breaking Aaron Judge’s rookie home run record from two years ago. You WON’T want to miss that! I’ll share a couple of thoughts about the Mets closing out their season in dramatic fashion and the future of Mickey Callaway as manager of the team.

NFL Week 4 was another crazy, unpredictable week if you’re in Tampa or LA (Rams), Cleveland, Oakland and Carolina. I’ll get into the top storylines of the week, look ahead to Week 5 and I’m still alive in my knockout pool as I’ll have a prediction for you as well.

The NHL & NBA seasons are upon us. The puck drops around the league on Wednesday as I’ll chime in on a few things, including my Stanley Cup prediction. And media day took place last week, with Brooklyn Nets G Kyrie Irving had a few interesting things to say about his former club in Boston.

I’ll have all of that and my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Jets/Giants/NFL Week 6, 2018 NY Yankees (RIP)/MLB Playoffs, College Football, NHL

The ides of October is delivering some thrilling sports action as I break it all down for you on the latest episode of The JAYREELZ Podcast. The Jets and Sam Darnold continue to impress as they’ve made it to .500 on the season with a win over Indianapolis. Meanwhile on the other side of the building, the hopes for this Giants season has gone down the drain as they suffer their fifth loss in six games at the hands of the Eagles. Hear my takes on both teams, as well as, recapping all that went down in Week 6 of the NFL, including the Steelers last second win in Cincinnati, the Jaguars D rocked in Dallas and the only remaining undefeated team in the league. The Yankees say goodbye to the 2018 season as they lose in four games to the Red Sox. What will it take for the Yanks to get over the hump? What changes can they expect? Will they focus on a starting pitcher? Or the rumors of Manny Machado will start to echo throughout baseball? Lots of answers that I’ll try to unpack, plus my thoughts on the AL & NLCS to date. I’ll also recap a topsy-turvy Week 7 in college football. A word on the first couple of weeks in the NHL. What about the NBA? Some news about the next podcast that has to do with the Association and much more, on this weeks edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. (Episode 34)
