NBA’s 200 Point All-Star Debacle! Islanders Choke In Outdoor Game Loss To Rangers. Purdue Goes Down. UCONN: Team To Beat. Alonso Wants Mets, But Vice Versa? Matsuyama’s 62 Wins Wacky Genesis

Another holiday Monday presents a wild hour of sports talk as we transition away from the NFL with all of the latest happenings in the sports universe as I’ll unpack the following:

(3:00) It was a rough weekend for the NBA as they had to deal with a repeat slam dunk champion (Mac McClung) who’s in the G-League! Plus, an All-Star Game that had one team score over 200 POINTS as the East beat the West. What can they do to fix it? Is it too late to do so? Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn has been relieved of his duties. Was it fair? Then you have the finalists for the Naismith Hall of Fame which includes Vince Carter and Chauncey Billups. Why I think both wouldn’t be enshrined in Springfield if it was up to me? The Association is still on a respite as the schedule will pick up on Thursday.

(22:50) You had another stunner in college basketball as #2 Purdue loses to Ohio State, with an interim coach, no less. Does this hurt them for a #1 come tournament time? #1 UCONN is surely looking like a team that’s going to defend their title as they destroyed #4 Marquette in historic fashion. How about Rick Pitino, the head coach of St. John’s? They lost to Seton Hall last night and are now 6-9 in the conference. He had plenty of choice words for his team, calling it a disappointing year, stating how unathletic they are, lacking toughness, going in on his squad as they try to fight for a spot in the tournament. Caitlin Clark sets the women’s record all time for scoring in the sport, eclipsing Kelsey Plum in the process. And sad news as former Maryland coach, Lefty Driesell passed away at age 92.

(30:45) The NHL had a huge weekend with two outdoor games in the same venue. I’ll unwrap the Flyers-Devils meeting on Saturday night, with the second game being a nail biter where the Islanders blew a golden opportunity to beat their crosstown rival Rangers, 6-5 in OT. I was a witness to the latter game. How much that loss stings even a day later may come as a surprise? Also, the nerve of the Ranger fan, sounding like they’ve won 6 or 7 Stanley Cups as I had to deal with them for three plus hours yesterday. Don’t look now, but the Panthers have overtaken the Bruins in the Atlantic Division for the first time since the end of the 2021-22 season. I’ll see what else is happening in the other divisions and keep you up to speed on the latest.

(46:26) With position players reporting throughout the MLB, I have to throw in my two cents regarding Mets 1B, Pete Alonso and his desire to be a lifelong Met. I call out both the VP of baseball ops, David Stearns and of course, the owner, Steve Cohen to put his money where his mouth is as he’s stated in the past that he wants to operate his team like the Braves & Dodgers, to name a couple. There were two low level signings, (Whit Merrifield to Phillies and Liam Hendricks to the Red Sox) as spring training is in full swing.

(54:40) There was a golf tournament over the weekend in LA at the Genesis Invitational. It wasn’t a major, but you had some interesting developments regarding a couple of players. Tiger Woods had to withdraw with an illness after two rounds. Is this the last of Tiger being a dominant fixture on the course? You also had Jordan Spieth disqualified due to an erroneous scorecard. But your winner was Hideki Matsuyama who shot a 62 in the final round to win the tournament as we’re still six or seven weeks from Augusta.

(57:41) The Super Bowl of Racing had to be postponed due to inclement weather at the Daytona 500. They’ll race at 4pm today/Monday. Does this hurt the biggest racing event of the year?

(58:42) UFC had a surprise on Saturday night as Ilia Topuria stunned Alexander Volkanovski in a knockout that I’m sure quite a few didn’t expect. Is a rematch in order at some point in the not too distant future?

The Hunt For Red October/MLB Postseason Preview, Trolling Yankee Fans. Mets: Is Mickey Out? NFL WK 4 Takeaways. NHL '19-'20, Kyrie's 'I Failed' Comment

Closing out the month of September in grand fashion as Episode 93 will not disappoint when it comes what I have to say about what’s happening in the world of sports. On deck:

The MLB Postseason begins with the NL & AL Wild Card games on Tuesday and Wednesday. I’ll tell you who’ll move on to face the Dodgers and Astros respectively. I’ll also take an early look into the Division Series to preview what lies ahead for the Cardinals-Braves and Twins-Yankees. Plus, I have a message for Yankee fans out there, who had a few things to say about Pete Alonso breaking Aaron Judge’s rookie home run record from two years ago. You WON’T want to miss that! I’ll share a couple of thoughts about the Mets closing out their season in dramatic fashion and the future of Mickey Callaway as manager of the team.

NFL Week 4 was another crazy, unpredictable week if you’re in Tampa or LA (Rams), Cleveland, Oakland and Carolina. I’ll get into the top storylines of the week, look ahead to Week 5 and I’m still alive in my knockout pool as I’ll have a prediction for you as well.

The NHL & NBA seasons are upon us. The puck drops around the league on Wednesday as I’ll chime in on a few things, including my Stanley Cup prediction. And media day took place last week, with Brooklyn Nets G Kyrie Irving had a few interesting things to say about his former club in Boston.

I’ll have all of that and my Hero and Zero of the Week.

NFL Week 2 Storylines (Officiating, Bold Two Pt. Conversions) Big Ben Done for '19, Mets On Life Support AGAIN, Pete Alonso's Ascent, MLB Wild Card Update, US Men's Basketball Disappointment

From last weeks' angry podcast to a somber one this week on Episode 91. On deck is the following:

Another wild and wacky NFL as Week 2 delivers lots of juicy storylines, including: The officiating throughout the league (another bad call for the Saints, Broncos hit with penalties in loss to the Bears) Losses at QB in New Orleans and Pittsburgh. Bold two point conversions. Ben Roethlisberger done for the season. How will his backup, Mason Rudolph, fare in getting a ton of the playing time? And much more as I go around the league.

The Mets playoff hopes are hanging by a thread with 13 games to go as they trail by four games in the NL Wild Card race. Can they pull off a miracle and make it to October? I'll explain why Pete Alonso is the future of this team and what should've been for a former Met who received early accolades, but never panned out to what we thought he'd become. Also, an up to the minute AL/NL Wild Card update and the hunt for baseballs' best record is on the line between the Yankees, Astros and Dodgers.

The US Men's Basketball team took a big hit in the FIBA World Cup as they finished in seventh place for the tournament. Is this cause for concern with the Olympics slated for next summer? I'll get into that, plus my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Sports 'Dead Zone' Pt. 2, Mets Unraveling in Wrigley, Yanks Soaring with London On Deck, Celtics Re-tooling?

Episode 77 welcomes in summer, closes out June and prepares us for another sports talk podcast party for the masses. On tap:

The second sports 'Dead Zone' of the year has arrived. I'll explain.

An eventful week that was for the Mets included, the firing of their pitching coach and bullpen coach. Pete Alonso’s record breaking rookie season, not securing a road series win since the beginning of April at Wrigley Field, leading up to some salty post game comments by manager, Mickey Callaway, at a Newsday reporter AND pitcher Jason Vargas intervening. Is Mickey Callaway on his way out? My biggest fear for Pete Alonso in 2019?  I have LOTS to say about this, as you might expect!

The Yankees weren't able to pay back the Astros with a sweep at home, but come off of an eight game winning streak as their big guns (i.e. Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge) are back in the starting lineup. They have a trip across the pond at the end of the week in London vs. the Red Sox. You'll get my take on why I don't like these games being played overseas?

I'll recap the NBA Draft, get into some NBA free agency stuff as we're exactly a week away. Plus, my thoughts on the Celtics this offseason. Are they looking to re-tool? Re-load?

I'll touch on the Devils and Rangers going 1-2 in the draft and what that means for the rivalry and organizations moving forward. Also, my Hero and Zero of the Week.
