What a difference a few days can make as I’m riding high and excited as I can be, here to deliver an hour plus of my analysis on what the sports world has to offer as the latest podcast has arrived! On deck:

(6:41) It’s a wild ride that I don’t want to get off from. The New York Mets have advanced to the NLCS for the first time since 2015 as they dispose of the Philadelphia Phillies in four games. Is this really happening? Who are these guys? I’ll go over the past two resounding victories, have a request for the baseball gods and could this ride take us fans to a World Series? I’ll check in on the other series as the Dodgers showed some toughness to push the Padres to a deciding fifth game. The Yankees get back on the beam after a rough Game 2 loss to put the Royals on the brink. Can Gerrit Cole put the hammer down in a close out game? Then the Guardians have to stay alive in Detroit as the Tigers are flying high to see if they can get back to an ALCS for the first time since 2013. I’ll also share my thoughts on the passing of former Red Sox pitcher, Luis Tiant, who died at the age of 83.

(41:26) Five plus weeks into the NFL season, we’ve got our first head coach fired as Robert Sale was given his walking papers by the New York Jets. Was this too soon? Is his replacement (defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich) the answer? It’s a rather light Week 6 schedule as the two highlight games are Washington at Baltimore, Detroit at Dallas and a big Monday night between the Bills and Jets.

(52:35) College football has a GINORMOUS game on Saturday night as #2 Ohio State will visit #3 Oregon. What does this mean for the college football playoff picture? There are two other biggies forthcoming (#1 Texas at #18 Oklahoma, #9 Ole Miss vs. #13 LSU which we’ll keep an eye on.

(56:16) The NHL is back on the sports map. It’s only been a couple of days, but I’ll discuss the Panthers opening night win and banner celebration. The Utah Hockey Club wins their first ever game and now come to the New York area over the next five days, while the Rangers may be on a mission with a statement shutout over the aging Penguins in Pittsburgh.

(1:00:49) Rafael Nadal will go off into the sunset as he’ll retire at the end of the tennis season. I’ll recap his spirit, championship play and does he belong on the sport’s Mt. Rushmore?

Mets Magic, Dodgers-Padres Civil War, Guardians Title Worthy? Yanks Unimpressive As LDS Begins. Jets, Niners & Bengals In Trouble? ‘Bama Leads Upset College Saturday. 2024 NHL Preview

I’m about to handle my business and may get a little personal because of what has transpired over the last few days and what’s to come as I roll up my sleeves and share all of the feels in the world of sports as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(6:33) After a brief mention of a Cowboys-Steelers matchup that lasted until 1:00am, the hunt for Red October in baseball shifts to a Division Series as the top two seeds are introduced in the AL & NL. First, I have to unpack how the Mets have gotten here. Where does Game 3 in Milwaukee rank in Met history after Pete Alonso’s heroics in the 9th inning? What about their Game 1 comeback of the LDS? And doing it again in Game 2 before losing? There is an issue regarding the magic that this team produced, which I’ll be sure to dissect as they come home with a chance to wrap up the series at Citi Field. There’s an all out battle on the West Coast. The Dodgers win Game 1 behind Shohei Ohtani’s game tying home run early in the contest. The Padres answer with a 10-2 win in Game 2, becoming testy with some of the Padres players and the fans in the stands. How much pressure are the Dodgers to win this series? The Guardians show up and tame the Tigers in their first game. Can they go deep into October and make a run for the title? Then the Yankees had to eke out a win in unimpressive fashion vs. Kansas City. I’ll get the full 30,000 foot view to date of what has taken place and see what lies ahead as we get into the middle of the week. Also, Terry Francona surprised the baseball world as he’s returning from a one year retirement to become the manager of the Cincinnati Reds.

(32:45) There are three teams that are facing a crossroads of their NFL season. The Jets lose over in London to fall to 2-3. The 49ers had no business losing at home to Arizona, but also fall a game under .500. And the Bengals could be over and out after squandering a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter to the Ravens, as their record stands at 1-4. Will these teams dig out of their respective holes to qualify for the playoffs in January? Of course, I’ll get into all of the craziness yesterday throughout the league, including my beloved Steelers whose defense were unable to answer Dak Prescott in the closing minutes of a gut punch of a loss against the Cowboys. And a belated farewell to Mercury Morris, the former Dolphin running back of the undefeated team back in 1972, who died a couple of weeks ago at the age of 77.

(57:25) If you thought the NFL had a crazy Sunday, college football said, I’ve got something for you. There were five major upsets in the sport, headlined by #1 Alabama losing to Vanderbilt. You also had #9 Missouri get whacked by #25 Texas A&M. Arkansas topping #4 Tennessee. #10 Michigan losing a championship rematch in Washington to the Huskies and USC gets stymied by Minnesota. What do these losses mean in the grand scheme of college football playoff things?

(1:05:27) The puck has already dropped on the NHL season with two games that the New Jersey Devils won in Prague vs. the Buffalo Sabres, but I’ll unpack the top storylines, over/under point totals, surprises, disappointments and a Stanley Cup Final prediction as the curtain will raise in earnest tomorrow night.

(1:24:21) Alex Pereira retained his light heavyweight title at UFC 307 in a tussle that turned out to be more than what it was, stopping Khalil Rountree in the fourth round on Saturday night.

Will Mets Join DS Party? Yanks/Dodgers/Phillies Facing Most Pressure? Davante Adams Wants Out! Remembering Dikembe & Pete Rose. LeBron’s Foolish Comment. NHL Over/Unders

One of the best sports months on the calendar has arrived and so is the latest podcast delivering all of what is, has and will take place throughout the landscape. On deck:

(6:40) October has us sports fans ready to witness the beginning of two new seasons (NHL & NBA), the height of two others (NFL & college football) and the conclusion of another (MLB) and that’s where I’ll begin. Leave it to the Mets to be the only team NOT to sweep the Wild Card round. I’ll recap the first two matchups vs. the Brewers and delve into tonight’s do or die game and who this’ll fall squarely on ESPECIALLY, if they lose (ahem, Pete Alonso). I’ll unpack the rest of the Wild Card Series which includes the red hot Detroit Tigers, the puzzling Houston Astros, the gritty Kansas City Royals, the disappointing Baltimore Orioles in the AL. The Padres look to be on a mission as they dispose the Atlanta Braves with ease. I’ll preview the Division Series in both leagues with the big picture question, which team is facing the most pressure? The Yankees, Dodgers or Phillies? There’s news regarding front office moves in STL & SF. Sending out prayers to former Dodgers legend Fernando Valenzuela as he needs to step away from the microphone to battle some health issues. And I’ll remember Pete Rose as he passed away on Monday at 83.

(55:43) Davante Adams wants out of Las Vegas. Where does he go? Is there a landing spot for him? What about Tyreek Hill? Does he want to go back to Kansas City? I’ll see what the Week 5 schedule in the NFL looks like as there are a few games to look forward to. Also, the four game suspension handed down to Bills LB Von Miller.

(1:08:33) College Football Week 6 is quite feeble, although you do have a National Championship rematch where #10 Michigan visits Washington on Saturday.

(1:10:14) I’ll look back at the life of Dikembe Mutombo who passed away on Monday at the age of 58. With training camps open, LeBron James had an interesting comment on the expectations of the Lakers heading into the season.

(1:16:13) The NHL will begin the 2024-25 season tomorrow, but in earnest starts on Tuesday. Commissioner Gary Bettman is already looking to open discussions on a new CBA that’s not set to expire until September of 2026! I’ll go over the over/under point totals of the year in light of an NHL preview next week.

(1:20:57) There’s a UFC light heavyweight fight Saturday night where Alex Pereira & Khalil Rountree will square off for the title in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mets Face Crucial ‘First’ Stretch In NL Wild Card Race. AL/NL Disparity In Division Races. Is Jayson Tatum’s Playing Time At Olympics A Story? Takeaways From NFL Preseason. Harbaugh Returning To UM?

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda?  Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase.

Navigating our way through a lackluster sports month as we inch closer to September. I’m glad you stopped by so I can fill you in on all of the latest and greatest. On deck:

(2:45) A friendly reminder to check the previous podcast with special guest, Keith McPherson of WFAN joins me to share his broadcasting journey which is inspiring and fascinating, to say the least.

(4:54) With the Olympics now concluded and back to a somewhat barren wasteland in the sports universe, thank goodness for baseball because that’s the constant as we continue to trudge through August. As the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres create some separation in the NL Wild Card race over the past week, what does this mean for the New York Mets? They were sleepless and pretty much scoreless in Seattle over the weekend as they finished up a 4-6 road trip. They’re a half game behind the Atlanta Braves for the final wild card spot in the NL. Although being in the thick of it, the next 19 games, could determine whether or not, they’ll be within striking distance come September. I’ll go through what the AL Wild Card race looks like at this moment. And the disparity of the division races in the AL compared to the NL.

(30:26) The 2024 Olympics officially have come and gone. I can’t say that I’ll have a happy recap, since I wasn’t invested in any of the action in Paris. I will mention the hullabaloo over the lack of playing time for Jayson Tatum as the Men’s Team won the gold in basketball. The Jordan Chiles bronze medal scoring controversy, Noah Lyles coming up sick during his events on the track and a couple of other things to discuss as we say ‘au revoir’ to the Summer Games.

(36:45) NFL preseason is underway. What are some of the takeaways from the past weekend? Is it Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels first taste of NFL play? The new kickoff rule? Jerry Jones vs. CeeDee Lamb? The release of JuJu Smith Schuster from New England. And Tashaun Gipson has found a home in Jacksonville, while having to serve a suspension for violating the league’s PED policy.

(42:44) Jim Harbaugh is going back to Michigan! This isn’t clickbait. This is a fact. He’s going back to Ann Arbor for the home opener on August 31st as an honorary captain to celebrate their national title of last year. Is this a middle finger to the NCAA?

(45:53) Sadly, I wrap up the podcast with the news of Hall of Fame golfer, Juan ‘Chi Chi’ Rodriguez dying over the weekend at the age of 88. I’ll briefly get into his swashbuckling attitude on the course and how much he enjoyed the game when he played decades ago.

Madness Takeaways: Big East Snubs, UCONN’s Tough Bracket & Purdue’s Easy Path. Steelers Shock With Pickett & Fields Trades. MLB In Korea. Game Clock Issues In LA?

Spring is officially arriving tomorrow, but right now is the latest podcast detailing ALL that’s happening in the sports universe. On deck:

(4:16) We can finally usher out the Sports Dead Zone, Part 1 (at least until summer) and begin a huge stretch of sports talk over the next few months. Jump starting that is the Madness of March. The NCAA Tournament tips off tomorrow night with the First Four, and in earnest, on Thursday with the first of two days of college basketball from 12 noon to 1:00am. I’ll discuss the top three storylines of the selection process (Mountain West over Big East), UCONN’s tough bracket to defend their title. And Purdue’s cakewalk to a Final Four, considering how their bracket unfolded. I’ll get into the whole bracket on Thursday’s pod, so this is the appetizer to set you up for the main course later in the week. I’ll take a peek at how I was disappointed of the selection committee on the women’s side, where they have Iowa and LSU in the same bracket and not different brackets.

(24:36) What has gone on in Pittsburgh this offseason? It’s almost as if the Steelers have had an identity shift. I say that because just the past few days alone, they traded their former #1 pick Kenny Pickett to the Eagles. Then surprised me in acquiring Justin Fields of the Bears for what? A sixth round pick? I’ll unpack all of what GM Omar Khan has done to date and assess how this was a change from the front office that even their biggest fans didn’t expect? I’ll discuss what the Vikings did by picking up another first round pick (via Houston) Some other key signings/trades that transpired. And the retirement of Rams DT Aaron Donald, who called it a career on Friday after ten years in STL & LA.

(41:43) As much as we’re looking forward for the baseball season to start next Thursday, it actually starts on Wednesday. That’s right! The Dodgers-Padres will kick off 2024 in Korea for two games. Am I cool with MLB throwing out the first pitch outside of American soil? The Yankees dodged a potential catastrophe to their starting rotation regarding the health to Cy Young ace Gerrit Cole, but do they still look for reinforcements since the aforementioned will be out for at least a month? Then Mets owner, Steve Cohen, addressed the media to announce that 1B Pete Alonso will likely not be signed before Opening Day. YOU KNOW that I have something to say about that with the season starting in ten days.

(52:27) The Association is rather low key, despite a wild and inexplicable final two minutes of the Warriors-Lakers game because of game clock and shot clock malfunctions as the Dubs won in LA. Speaking of LA, the Clippers have hit the skids, losing 4 of 5 and not having an identity, as stated by Paul George. What’s going on there? I’ll see where we’re at throughout the league with the latest in the standings as we’re about a month away from the conclusion of the NBA season.

(59:30) Besides my Islanders going through a bad stretch of late, falling out of the Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference (albeit a point in the standings as of this moment), the NHL is status quo as I’ll take a trip around the ice as they head into the homestretch.

(1:03:23) With The Masters teeing up three weeks from this coming Thursday, the TPC at Sawgrass took place over the weekend. Scottie Scheffler is the first player ever to win back to back as he shot -20 and a 64 in the final round as he’s primed for another run as the top golfer on the tour. NOTE: I mentioned that Scheffler won the Masters last year. It was in 2022. Jon Rahm won last year. My apologies for the error.

(1:04:57) Although it’s not a Grand Slam in the world of tennis, the winners at Indian Wells were Iga Swiatek on the women’s side and Carlos Alcaraz (who stopped Jannik Sinner’s 19 match consecutive streak) captured the men’s title as both winners look to build on their victories with the French Open two months away.

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with Olipop soda? If not, you’ll definitely want to acquaint yourself with this healthy, crisp and refreshing beverage that has no GMO’s, organic with natural ingredients that you can read. Yankees Pivotal Game 2 A Must? Can SD Win Two In Philly As AL & NLCS Is Underway. Top Teams On Byes Lead To Weak NFL Week 7. Pelicans Show Out, Suns Show Up & Celtics New Coach Highlight NBA

The little engine that could keeps on steaming down the track as your little podcast host continues to pump out the passion, fire, energy and fury on all that's happening in the sports world. On deck:

(3:28) We're into the Championship Series in the MLB where the Astros drew first blood in Game 1 against the Yankees. How imperative is it for the Bombers to win Game 2 if they have any chance to punch their ticket to the World Series? Also, the Padres get even as the scene shifts to Philadelphia over the weekend where the series is tied at 1-1. I'll look into my crystal ball to see what could possibly happen over the next three days as we await to see who'll come out of each league and represent in the Fall Classic?

(20:57) NFL Week 7 is looking pretty light, as evidenced by three of the top teams in the league to date (Buffalo, Minnesota and Philadelphia) all on byes this week. I'll take a look at what's on the football table to see if there is anything appetizing in prime time, at 1:00pm or 4:25pm as we inch closer to the halfway point of the season.

(26:17) The same can be said for Week 8 in college football as there isn't much to write home about (does Syracuse-Clemson tickle your fancy?) I'll go over what may be worth watching and what isn't?

(29:17) The NBA fan can rejoice as the season is underway. I'll get into a couple of storylines of the first two nights (LeBron lashing out some truths at his teammates in a loss against Golden State, Zion & the Pelicans handle the Nets, Phoenix exacting some revenge against Dallas) and how the Celtics interim coach, Joe Mazzulla will navigate a team that went to the Finals last year, how he'll fare this year and when the true test will be for the first time head coach?

(40:21) I can't forget the hockey fan as the NHL is now nine days into their campaign. I'll take a trip around the ice to see what has transpired over the first three or four games and a surprise last place team that no one was coming.
