Cowboys Untrustworthy In Big Road Games, AFC/NFC South Log Jam, Latest NFL Playoff Picture. Steph's Streak Stopped, Giannis's 'Real' Game Ball. Pistons: 23 L's! Dodgers Continue Reload With Glasnow

It's almost time to get festive and celebrate another holiday season, but before that there's plenty of sports talk to get into as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(2:59) As steady, and at times, spectacular this season that the Dallas Cowboys have been, they've been bad in a big spot on the road. Further evidence was yesterday in Buffalo where they were drubbed 31-10 by the Bills. Do you trust this Cowboy team on the road against a stout opponent? They have another shot where they go down to Miami on Christmas Eve to see if they can silence the critics, including yours truly. There's an interesting development with both Souths in the AFC & NFC. You have the Jaguars, who have hit the skids with a three game losing streak, now tied with the Texans and Colts for first place in the AFC South. The Buccaneers impressed and won a huge game in Green Bay, while the Saints keep pace with Tampa after beating the Giants at home and Atlanta (after a bad loss on the road in Carolina) are only a game behind both teams for the top spot in the NFC South. I'll share my disgust with the Steelers effort over the past three weeks, rumors about the possible end of Mike Tomlin as coach. I'll uncover all of the up to the date playoff scenarios in each conference, other news throughout the league (i.e. Chargers firing coach Brandon Staley. Is Bill Belichick not far behind?) as we're down to the final three weeks of the regular season. NOTE: I made a mention of the 49ers losing Super Bowl LIV to Miami, not in Miami. Of course, they lost to Kansas City. My apologies for the faux pas.

(32:05) A few records were snapped and came to a halt in the NBA. Steph Curry had his streak of 268 games of making at least one three pointer ended in a win vs. Portland. Kings guard Keegan Murray made eleven straight three point shots (an NBA record) in a win vs. Utah. And Bucks forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo got the game ball he deserves as he's the all time leader in franchise history when it comes to rebounding. Also, the sad passing of former big man, Eric Montross who succumbed to cancer at the age of 52. I'll keep you abreast of what the latest is throughout as the Clippers have been scorching, the Spurs snap their 18 game losing streak and the Pistons have lost 23 consecutive games and counting.

(44:09) The NHL has been rather low key, although you have a big loss with Dallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger out with a lower body injury for the forseeable future. How will that impact them in the short term? Plus, whatever else is happening on the ice.

(48:30) MLB's Hot Stove has been cool for the most part, but the Dodgers continue to reload as they've traded for Rays pitcher Tyler Glasnow and gave him an $136 million dollar extension. Is Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto on their radar to complete an enormous offseason of transactions?

Belichick Out? Steeler Tradition Done? Games In Brazil? Oh! A Busy Week 15 Schedule. Giannis Overreacts Over Game Ball. Draymond Surprise Suspension. Spurs: 20 L's In A Row? Ohtani Contract Aftermath

It's been a busy past few days in the sports world and it's evident because I've got plenty to unpack as the latest podcast is here for consumption. On deck:

(2:52) With Week 15 in the NFL just about here, there were plenty of newsworthy items over the past few days. Starting off with the inevitable firing of coach Bill Belichick in New England. Is it a possibility? A probability? It's been a couple of rough weeks for the Pittsburgh Steelers of late. One of its best players in their teams history (QB, Ben Roethlisberger) has called out the organization as far as their tradition might be past them, as well as, taking shots at the head coach, Mike Tomlin, along the way. Is he accurate? Out of line? The NFL is going to expand their international reach as they're looking to have Brazil host a game next year. Is this an exercise of futility? Is this necessary? There's some news regarding the officiating front where the commissioner and VP of football operations have come out in light of the call in Kansas City on Sunday, where WR Kadarius Toney was in the neutral zone prior to the touchdown that gave the Chiefs the lead. What was said during those discussions and what may change? Oh! I'll preview a super busy schedule, which now adds Saturday to the mix with just about every game having playoff implications. I'll also pay respects to former Titans TE, Frank Wycheck, who passed away tragically last weekend at the age of 52.

(36:21) The Association has had some eventful moments the past 48 hours or so. Bucks forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a career high 64 points last night vs. Indiana. How he acted after the game in searching for the game ball as a keepsake was a complete overreaction? Then you had Warriors Draymond Green suspended indefinitely for striking Suns Jusuf Nurkic on Tuesday night. As tired as his act has been throughout his career, was this too extreme? Will the Spurs ever win again? Of course they will, but they've lost 18 games in a row. Is there a chance they can snap their streak before the weekend is out?

(47:20) Off the ice, the St. Louis Blues fired their head coach Craig Berube. And what's this about the owner of the Washington Capitals & NBA Wizards, Ted Leonsis, wanting to move his teams to Northern Virginia by the end of the decade? On the ice, the Edmonton Oilers have been bulldozing the competition after a very slow start as they've won eight straight.

(53:34) Who would've thought that we're almost a week since the news of Shohei Ohtani signing his whopping $700 million dollar contract with the Dodgers, that it's still making waves. Whether it's the $680 million dollars deferred after 2033, an opt out that's rather odd and what this does for the team's luxury tax? Quite a bit to unpack as this MLB Hot Stove has been rather cool, even with the Giants (who made an offer to Ohtani similar to what the Dodgers did) signed Korean outfielder Jung Hoo Lee to a six year/113 million dollar deal.

Mariners Rise Or Rangers Demise In AL West. NY Teams In Last Place. What About '24? Strasburg Retires. Trey Lance's Future. Giannis: One Foot Out In Milwaukee? US Open Preview

With summer slipping away, there's no time to get sad as there's quite a bit to unpack as the first of two podcasts this week awaits. On deck:

(3:10) We're finally coming out of our Sports Dead Zone as September looms, but baseball is still at the forefront. Don't look now, but there's a new division leader at the top of the AL West. The Seattle Mariners have come all the way back from a .500 team to first place, where the Texas Rangers resided until last night. Is this more of a Rangers collapse than a Mariners resurgence? Then you have both New York teams in LAST PLACE this late in the season for the first time in over 30 years. Who's better off moving forward in 2024? The Mets or Yankees. There was an expected and disappointing retirement as Nationals pitcher, Stephen Strasburg called it a career due to injuries. At least, he won a World Series and Series MVP in the process. I'll take a look at the latest races in the AL & NL wild card as we get closer to the end of the regular season.

(34:21) The Trey Lance experiment in San Francisco went up in smoke as the former 2021 #3 pick overall was shipped to Dallas for a fourth round pick. For all of the promise coming out of North Dakota St., where does his career go from here?

(38:48) Notre Dame kicked off the college football season in grand style over in Dublin with a rout over Navy. The college circuit begins in full earnest on Thursday which I'll get into in depth at that time.

(39:58) Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has thrown down the gauntlet to the front office that if they do not surround him with championship caliber talent, he may not sign a three year extension that he's eligible for come September 22nd. Was he out of line in saying so?

(46:13) The final Grand Slam tournament in tennis commences today as the US Open is in full swing out at Flushing Meadow in Queens. Will we see another Carlos Alcaraz-Novak Djokovic final? What about the women's side? Is it wide open? Is it Iga Swiatek's tournament to lose?

(52:14) A couple of notable signings on the ice as the Tampa Bay Lightning re-sign Brandon Hagel to an eight year extension? Is he worthy of it? While the Rangers ink Alexis Lafreniere to a two year deal, who's been disappointing as a highly touted #1 pick overall a few years ago.

MLB Rumors/Trade Deadline Week. Should The Yanks Sell? Giannis's Historic Finals Closeout: The Best Ever? NHL's Kraken & Entry Draft Recap. Watson Reports, Forfeits & More As NFL Camps Open

Another month is almost in the books, but the latest episode #206 is already in the books as I escort you through the sports universe with all that it has to offer. On deck:

(6:08) Baseball is the last sport standing as we've hit the Sports Dead Zone Pt. 2, with lots of rumors milling around with the Trade Deadline set for Saturday at 4pm. The Rays have fired the first salvo bringing in a bat (Nelson Cruz) as well as, trading P Rich Hill to the Mets. The Padres made a move for All-Star, Adam Frazier to secure their infield. I discuss other big time players that can be on the move (Trevor Story, Javier Baez, Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Max Scherzer, to name a few) and my take on the Yankees as they should sell, including stars, Gary Sanchez, Gleyber Torres and yes, Aaron Judge with my state of the Bombers this late in the season. I'll explain why. There are some key players coming back (White Sox OF, Eloy Jimenez) and some on the IL (Dodgers OF, Mookie Betts) There's also a new name for one of baseball's oldest teams. I'll update all of the latest pennant races with not too much drama in the AL & NL as of today.

(34:08) The Bucks win their first title in 50 years on the shoulders and back of Giannis Antetokoumpo. How does his epic performance rank all time in close out games? Also, the flipside of the Suns setting as they weren't able to secure two more wins after being up 2-0 in the series. Does this affect Chris Paul's legacy? How about Devin Booker? Deandre Ayton? Will they be back in the Finals next year? I'll share who'll be the potential top picks in the upcoming NBA Draft may be.

(52:40) The Kraken have completed their draft and filled out a roster for their inaugural season in 2021-22. Were there any surprises as to who wasn't picked by the NHL's newest team? I'll take a look at who was chosen at the top of the NHL Draft this past weekend with a theme of some family lineage tying into two of the teams that are impacted. Also, a huge singing in Colorado with their top defenseman, Cale Makar. Will this be the first domino to fall in order to bring back some of their own free agents (i.e. Gabriel Landeskog & Brandan Saad)? And the league did the Islanders ZERO favors when it comes to the schedule for this upcoming year. You won't want to miss that!

(1:05:29) NFL news and notes as training camps open throughout the league including, embattled Texan QB, Deshaun Watson on the trading block? Will some team take the plunge despite the baggage? An update on the Aaron Rodgers saga in Green Bay. A couple of signings in San Francisco and Pittsburgh. A disgruntled pass rusher in Arizona. A tough loss for the Rams with a key offensive player going down for the season. And a memo that spread throughout the league regarding COVID outbreaks within a team and how forfeits of games and loss of paychecks will take place because of players that are unvaccinated. Even a coach received a pink slip for refusing to get the vaccine. I'll be sure to dissect all of that.

(1:18:18) A brief update on the Summer Olympics. The USA Men's basketball team have lost their first game since 2004. Is this a sign of bad things to come? And a 13 year old became the second youngest to win a gold...in SKATEBOARDING!

(1:21:04) Of course, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Bucks Experience Pushes Suns To Brink. Legacy GM 6 for Giannis & CP3? MLB's Bizarre Week! Morikawa's Open Victory. NHL's Kraken Begin New Era. The Olympics: Does Anyone Care?

Just when you think the sports world will start to slow down a bit, it always delivers another level of excitement. Here to bring you up to speed on all that’s happening, Episode #205 promises to heat up your speakers and earbuds. On deck:

(6:00) The Sports Dead Zone, Pt. 2 hasn’t arrived during this different sports year as the NBA is set to crown a champion tomorrow night possibly with the Milwaukee Bucks, flexing their experience, toughness and grit that they’ve accumulated over the past two plus postseasons and exhibited in Games 4 & 5 of the Finals. I’ll discuss the potential legacy games for both Giannis Antetekoumpo & Chris Paul as Game 6 looms. Do the Suns keep their season alive and push the series to a deciding Game 7? In other news, there is a new coach in Washington with a familiar name, the play in tournament will be back in 2021-22 and Kawhi Leonard’s secretive diagnosis has been revealed.

(29:16) MLB has one of the most bizarre weeks in recent memory. From Pete Alonso’s arrogance at the Home Run Derby, to a ho-hum All-Star Game, the Yankees, including Aaron Judge coming down with COVID, a wild weekend in Pittsburgh for the Mets with two major injuries to dissect, a shooting outside of Nationals Park and the Brewers take back the NL Central (well, sort of). I’ll go through the divisions as we’re just 12 days from the Trade Deadline.

(47:12) Collin Morikawa wins his second major tournament in 10 months by coming from behind to beat Louis Oosthuizen and Jordan Spieth to win the British Open at Sandwich Bay. At 24, how bright is his future? Also, how did the rest of the field fair? (i.e. Bryson Dechambeau, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, etc.)

(57:15) I have to apologize to #1 women’s tennis player and Wimbledon winner Ash Barty.

(58:12) The newest team in the NHL, the Seattle Kraken will have two drafts to look forward to this week as they’ll build their roster through the Expansion Draft (Wednesday) and the Entry Draft (Friday & Saturday). Will they become a similar version to the Vegas Golden Knights of four years ago? Plus, a big trade for Edmonton that could pay dividends to a young Connor McDavid and their franchise next year.

(1:04:57) No players have opted out (as of yet) of the upcoming season in the NFL as training camps open next week. And let’s add another story to the already legendary status of a one Thomas Edward Brady!

(1:07:32) The Olympics open up on Friday in the midst of COVID as it’s affecting Tokyo. Will anyone watch? Does anyone care?

(1:12:45) Of course, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

The Thrill & Agony Of Game 7's! Islanders Fall Short. What's Next? Cup Preview. CP3 On Cusp. A Clipper Comeback? Can Bucks Seal The Deal? MLB's First Ejection Crackdown! A Wimbledon Shocker!

Another milestone for the podcast as Episode #200 is coming at you correct, direct and in full effect on all of the latest and greatest in the world of sports. On deck:

(6:45) The lead up and thrill of a Game 7, but in a loss, the pain and suffering that comes with it.

(9:22) Which brings me to the NY Islanders, who fell two goals short of making it to their first Stanley Cup Finals in 37 years. I’ll recap their final week in the postseason, what to expect this offseason, what they need to get over the hump and a BOLD prediction for next year’s team that you won’t want to miss. I’ll also get into the Montreal Canadiens unexpected run to a Cup Final and predict who’ll hoist Lord Stanley as champions of the NHL. There’s also a new coach for the newly minted Seattle Kraken as I’ll share my thoughts on that.

(31:31) Future Hall of Famer and Suns point guard, Chris Paul is one win away from reaching his first ever NBA Finals, but there may be something brewing with the Clippers as I have a gut that they have the Suns right where they want ‘em. I’ll deep dive as to the possibility of a Clipper Comeback that would be the cataclysmic event this woe be gone franchise needs to get themselves into the Finals. By chance, if the Clippers happen to push this series to a 7th game, what does this say about current coach, Ty Lue? What about Doc Rivers and his tenure as Clips coach? The Bucks have control of their series with the Hawks, but will they put the hammer down on a feisty Atlanta team that’ll come into Game 4 hurting as Trae Young is hobbled with an ankle injury? I’ll also get into the various coaching vacancies filled in Indiana, Boston, Dallas and Portland with some news on Luka Doncic’s alleged relationship with the Mavericks front office and Kristaps Porzingis. Does Damian Lillard want out of Portland now that Chauncey Billups is the head coach? Some interesting developments going on and I have it all covered.

(57:40) Week one of the crackdown with foreign substances in MLB is in the books. At the tail end of it, there was an ejection with the Mariners reliever, Hector Santiago being tossed for having resin in his glove. Was an ejection warranted? Should this have happened since the substance was legal? I’ll have that, the Yankees floundering, the Mets big week, the Giants could put some distance between them and the Dodgers and a top heavy NL & AL as we approach the halfway point of the regular season.

(1:13:19) A shocker at Wimbledon as one of the top men’s players is ousted at the All England Club. Which leads to the bigger question. Is Novak Djokovic’s quest to winning the third leg of the calendar Grand Slam a formality? Also, who’ll come out victorious on the women’s side? I’ll have a preview.

(1:20:36) A couple of notes regarding two offensive lineman in the NFL with one player going (David DeCastro released by the Steelers) and one player coming (Morgan Moses signs with the Jets).

(1:23:15) Not to mention, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

The Surprising Islanders, Unlocking Giannis Cheat Code, Will Nash Mesh In BK? Remembering Seaver/Brock. Yankee Freefall In AL East? NFL Over/Unders, Djokovic's DQ! Derby Dud?

A jam packed sports podcast party on this Labor Day as I zoom through the sports landscape on Episode 153. On deck:

(3:22) The surprising Islanders advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. How did they do it? What about their next opponent, the Tampa Bay Lightning? I’ll have plenty of thoughts on this, a prediction and look at what’s happening in the Western Conference.

(25:23) The NBA playoffs are in the second round and the Bucks have been a major story as they survive a sweep at the hands of the Miami Heat. I have an assessment on how to unlock reigning MVP, Giannis Antetekoumpo’s next ‘cheat code’ to take his game to the next level. Also, is this it for coach Mike Budenholzer? Will Kemba Walker step up in this series? What about Russell Westbrook? Rajon Rondo? All of the playoff breakdown from the bubble and will Steve Nash be able to mesh with his new team in Brooklyn?

(43:38) I’ll remember the lives of two great Hall of Famers who have passed in MLB (Tom Seaver & Lou Brock). I’ll discuss the state of the Yankees as they’ve taken a bit of a freefall here in early September, as well as, a lay of the land throughout baseball as we’re three weeks away from the end of the regular season.

(1:01:22) Are you ready for some football? The NFL begins in three days. I’ll review the over/under win totals, go through some of the personnel moves throughout the league as we embark on another season.

(1:11:32) Novak Djokovic’s shocking exit from the US Open as he was disqualified after striking a line judge with the ball. Will the mens champion become an asterisk when it’s all said and done?

(1:15:29) The Kentucky Derby ran on Saturday with an upset over the heavily favored, Tiz The Law. Why this Run for the Roses didn’t get much fanfare and what does it mean for next years race?

(1:17:30) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

NBA's 'Second Half', Antonio Brown Saga, Jacob deGrom's Future, NHL Buyers & Sellers

As most of the country is celebrating a long holiday weekend, start your Monday off catching up with all that’s shaking down in the world of sports on this weeks edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. The NBA All-Star Weekend is in the books so now we’ll focus on what lies ahead for the rest of this season. Will the Bucks hold the top spot in the East? Can the Raptors secure the #1 seed for the second year in the row? Do the Celtics have a big run in them? Can the Lakers make a push into the top eight in the West? Can anyone dethrone Golden State? Those questions and much more will be answered by yours truly as the Association commences their ‘second half’ on Thursday. The Antonio Brown/Pittsburgh Steelers soap opera has added another twist as the disgruntled WR is requesting a trade out of Pittsburgh. You’ve heard my thoughts on past podcasts about this, but there’s another layer to this never ending saga. Hear what I have to say about how the front office should handle this and how this move can actually make the team come together and be better as a whole. There’s a potential standoff rising in Flushing as Jacob deGrom and his agent are looking for a long term payday, but the Mets aren’t quick to pull the trigger because the reigning Cy Young Award winner still has two years left before he’s a free agent. I’ll share my take on what needs to be done and how this deal may possibly make or break this team for years to come. Also, some thoughts on the NHL as teams will start to buy or sell with the trade deadline a week away, Colin Kaepernick and the NFL have settled and Duke rises back to number one in the country. You’ll have all of this and a little more on this weeks episode of The JAYREELZ Podcast. (Episode 55)
