MLB Teams Trying To Crash Playoff Party? Is Georgia On A Mission In College Football? NFL Over/Unders Review. Tragedy Strikes NHL. Shocking US Open Upsets! Scheffler Stamps #1 Golfer

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda?  Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase.

The unofficial ending of summer brings a new beginning as the sports universe gets resurrected after a slow couple of months. Here to detail all that’s happening as I have a lot to get into. On deck:

(2:59) We can all rejoice as the sports universe will start to pick up after an expected, but rough six weeks or so. I’ll tend to some housekeeping before I kick off the podcast (i.e. latest vlog on my YouTube channel below, a mention of a sponsor in OLIPOP soda, please see above) with another sponsor about to be introduced to you guys and gals in the coming days.

(5:35) Baseball is down to its final four weeks of the regular season. Could there be a turn in the pennant chase, in both the division and wild card races? There are a couple of teams that have thrusted them into the discussion over the past few days, including my beloved NY Mets. I also bring up the fact that the Chicago White Sox are headed to regular season futility after getting swept over the weekend and now have lost seven in a row. I’ll see where we’re at with the latest throughout the sport as to who is where, how far behind and how close will these races will be as we get to the homestretch of the season.

(30:13) College football is here! Is this going to be a year of reckoning for the Georgia Bulldogs after their thrashing of Clemson? The Miami Hurricanes are trying to take a step towards their halcyon days after beating up the Florida Gators. Texas A&M hung in there vs. Notre Dame, but the Fightin’ Irish pulled away late to win at College Station. USC upset the LSU Tigers out in Sin City last night as the first week will be completed after Florida St. hosts Boston College tonight.

(39:41) I’ll unpack the over/under win total numbers in the NFL as I’ll tease on a couple that I’m interested in. I’ll reveal those on Thursday’s podcast. Now that Brandon Aiyuk signed on the dotted line in San Francisco, what about Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons and Haason Reddick? Speaking of the 49ers, thankfully rookie wideout Rickey Pearsall survived a huge scare as a robbery attempt was near fatal in broad daylight.

(49:50) A terrible tragedy transpired late Thursday night as Blue Jackets winger Johnny Gaudreau & his brother Matthew died in a car/bike accident is South Jersey prior to their sisters wedding the day after. Seth Jarvis of the Carolina Hurricanes hits the jackpot with a new eight year deal worth over $63 million dollars.

(54:17) What a whirlwind the US Open has been over the last four days? You’ve had three major stars OUSTED as Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff did not make it to Week 2. Is that a good thing for a sport that needs their stars to go deep into these tournaments?

(1:03:40) I’ll highlight a few NBA signings that took place this past week.

(1:04:16) Scottie Scheffler won the FedEx Cup yesterday. It’s not a Grand Slam major, but it is his sixth this year on the Tour. He is the number one player in golf. Could there be a faction that feel Xander Schauffele is part of the ‘best golfer in the world’ discussion, with TWO majors under his belt this year alone?

How College Football Playoff Fuels The Regular Season? Another Mets Disaster As Wild Card Is On The Ropes. Am I Looking Forward To NFL Season? Record Match At US Open

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda?  Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase.

Just days away from September as we say bye bye to a slow stretch in the sports world with the final podcast of the month coming at ya. On deck:

(2:54) Some housekeeping to begin. The latest vlog on the YouTube channel is forthcoming this Saturday, so keep your eyes peeled for that. And, of course, OLIPOP soda. Please see promo above.

(5:18) We can say goodbye to the Sports Dead Zone, Pt. 2 as we get set for what will be an intriguing college football season. Between teams moving from old conferences to new, schedules that have been enhanced and a twelve team playoff format that’s ushered in for the first time in the sport’s history. I’ll unpack a couple of big picture storylines on how the chase for the postseason is fueling a regular season that we’ll experience for the first time. I’ll predict who’ll win it all and do any of the teams (5-12 to qualify for the playoffs) have a shot to go all the way?

(32:20) It was another gut punch by the Mets to their core fans (yours truly included) after losing another eighth inning lead on this road trip, putting them in a spot where they may not make the postseason at all. Is that going to be the case? The Kansas City Royals had a golden opportunity to take over first place in the AL Central, but squandered a late lead as the Guardians salvaged a series and took back first place in the process. Are the Royals for real? I’ll update the latest with the division and wild card races, with both the Cubs and Tigers trying to get into the playoff discussion.

(49:58) The NFL is now one week away. Next Thursday the new season begins. No previews or over/unders just yet, but am I looking forward to the upcoming year? You may be surprised by the answer, but I’ll surely explain. Plus, CeeDee Lamb gets his money in Dallas. No notable cuts on the league’s cut day Tuesday. Former Rams LB Ernest Jones finds a new home and Russell Wilson will start at quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

(57:12) The US Open is in full swing. Not much to report as far as major upsets, but history was made as the longest match in Open history took place between Daniel Evans vs. Karen Khachanov. With Evans winning, will he embark on a magic carpet ride into the weekend?

Are Judge & Ohtani Locks For MVP Backed By Monster Seasons? Is Florida St. Out Of College Playoff Mix? NFL Roster Cuts & Injuries! US Open Storylines

The sports storm is coming. August is on its way out, while September is on the horizon with plenty of sports to dive into. Same for the podcast as I have a few things cooking that I want to share. On deck:

(3:01) As we’re slowly but surely coming out of this Sports Dead Zone, Pt. 2, baseball is still the main topic. Despite it being status quo from when we last met on Thursday’s podcast, in regards to division and wild card races. The big storyline coming out of the weekend are the power numbers of the likely MVP’s in Aaron Judge & Shohei Ohtani. Can Judge break his own home run record? Will Ohtani reach the 50/50 plateau? Who would you want up at the plate with the money on the line? Judge or Ohtani? I’ll peek at the latest but not-so-greatest pennant races and look for the upcoming schedule over the next three days on the back end of this episode. My apologies ahead of time.

(21:43) College football season is underway. That’s right! Florida State suffered a huge loss, losing to Georgia Tech. Does this affect the Seminoles chances of qualifying for the twelve team playoff in December?

(31:14) Rosters in the NFL must be down to 53 by 4pm tomorrow. Who’ll be left on the scrap heap for other teams to gobble up? You had a couple of signings (KC’s Creed Humphrey and ATL’s AJ Terrell) Who has the upper hand to get the starting QB job in Pittsburgh? Plus, a couple of key injuries (DAL Daron Bland and CLE Nick Chubb) to teams with high expectations this year.

(36:12) The final tennis tournament of 2024 has arrived as the US Open commences. I’ll give you a couple of interesting angles (A wide open women’s field. A not so wide one for the men’s) as the tennis world is focused on New York over the next two weeks.

Mets Season Defining Road Trip? Joey Votto Retirement. Is He A Hall Of Famer? NFL Rookie QB’s To Start. What About Caleb/D. Maye? College Kicks Off Saturday. Jannik Sinner Avoids Suspension

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda?  Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase.

Still in the muck of this sports dead zone, but that’ll keep me on my toes as I conclude the week with another fun filled podcast. On deck:

(2:42) Just a little housekeeping as I released the latest vlog for my YouTube channel (@JAYREELZ) with Part 2, Escape To Florida: Miami! It’s not just a vlog, it’s a MOVIE, with lots of interesting stuff documented, including me visiting the former Marlins Park to watch Mets-Marlins in person. Plus, my friendly reminder to visit OLIPOP to get your discount on a healthy sods for your gut. Please see above.

(5:17) Baseball hasn’t changed much in the days since the last podcast. The most intriguing story coming out of yesterday is the Mets huge win over the Orioles to take the series before heading out West, in what I believe, is a make or break road trip. Four games in San Diego, followed by three in Arizona, two teams ahead of them in the Wild Card chase. I’ll talk about some critical injuries to key players on teams looking to punch their ticket to October, (Braves Austin Riley, Orioles Zach Eflin, Yankees Luis Gil) and some anticipated returns, (Astros Justin Verlander and Dodgers Yoshinobu Yamamoto). I’ll peek at the latest playoff picture, the upcoming weekend schedule and the retirement of Reds 1B Joey Votto.

(30:08) The NFL will conclude their preseason schedule this weekend as we stand by for Week 1 just two weeks from Sunday. I’ll get into the rookie QB’s that have been anointed starters (I.e. Commanders Jayden Daniels & Broncos Bo Nix) What about Bears Caleb Williams and Patriots Drake Maye? Then you have the Tua Tagovailoa-Brian Flores feud that was revealed this week. Did Tua do the right thing to address this with the media? How about how Brian Flores handled this?

(37:38) College football commences on Saturday as Florida State will play Georgia Tech, but the season in earnest starts on August 31st. Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz and his assistant both receive a one game suspension for violating recruitment protocol with QB Cade McNamara.

(41:26) Some sad news in the NBA as longtime Warriors fixture in the organization as a player, coach and executive, Al Attles dies at the age of 87,

(43:39) There was a trade in the NHL as Patrik Laine wanted out of Columbus  and got shipped to Montreal for a defenseman. Was that where Laine wanted to go?

(45:35) The final Grand Slam of tennis will take place on Monday. Thankfully, Jannik Sinner will NOT be suspended for testing positive TWICE for a steroid. How he was able to avoid time off? Speaking of Sinner, if he were to get to a final and win, he’ll have Carlos Alcaraz on his side of the draw, with Novak Djokovic standing in his way to win the US Open? I’ll have more on this when we reconvene on Monday’s podcast.

A Possible Quiet September Pennant Chase In MLB? Concerns For Steelers Offensive Woes? NBA’s Opening Night/X-mas Day Lineup. DuPlessis Tops Adesanya In UFC Bout

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda?  Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase.

Inching closer to September as we’re just two weeks away from Labor Day, but right now it’s about delivering another passion fueled podcast to cover all of what’s happening in sports. On deck:

(2:55) Some housekeeping right out of the gate. The latest vlog is up on my YouTube channel, Escape To Florida, Part 1: Orlando, which I implore you to please give it a view as you’ll get a more personal side of yours truly. Of course, the promo for OLIPOP soda. Please see above for more.

(7:00) Is baseball possibly staring at a barren wasteland this time next month? I’ll dissect what I see when it comes to a potential Sleepy September, especially in the AL/NL Wild Card races.

(29:06) With the preseason schedule coming to a close by the end of the week, should I be startled by the Pittsburgh Steelers lack of execution on offense? What about the progress of NY Giants QB, Daniel Jones. Plus, a couple of signings (Justin Simmons in ATL & Stephon Gilmore in MIN) paved the way for what took place in the NFL this past weekend.

(39:54) The NBA schedule has been released. Opening night should be compelling as we’ll see where the NY Knicks stack against the defending champion, Boston Celtics. Also, the Christmas Day slate, even with the NFL’s intruding on the Association’s party, as I’ll break down what those two days mean to the hoops fan.

(48:01) Saturday night was a huge UFC fight that fizzled in my eyes as Dricus DuPlessis submits Israel Adesanya in the fourth round, while Adesanya had been winning the match at that point.

(52:22) There will be a couple of omissions to the US Open lineup, which begins next week. Marketa Vondrousova and Cam Norrie are out with injuries. Same to Rafael Nadal, as we know. And Carlos Alcaraz unravels in a known tournament in Cincninati as a tune up to what’ll take place at Flushing Meadows in the final Grand Slam of the year.

Are The Astros Serious Contenders In AL? Aaron Judge IS Your AL MVP! When Will The Aiyuk, CeeDee & Haason Reddick Drama End? NBA Leaks ‘Cup’ Schedule? UFC DuPlessis-Adresanya Matchup

There may not be a lot of action in the sports universe, but whatever’s out there, you know I got you covered as I’ll get into all of the latest and greatest. On deck:

(2:47) As we get through this tedious sports month, MLB is always on its game as it carries us through August. What do you say about the Houston Astros? Winners of eight straight as the hottest team in the sport. Are they serious contenders in the American League? How about Yankees slugger Aaron Judge? He hit the 300th home run of his career last night. Has he wrapped up the AL MVP with six plus weeks to go? I’ll bring you up to date on some separation in both the AL/NL wild card races, what division races are still in tact and who’s running away to a pennant?

(34:01) With the second week of NFL preseason games on deck, there’s been some off field contract drama to unpack. Especially the Brandon Aiyuk saga in San Francisco. The front office said they want to keep the wideout, but also have a trade in place with the Pittsburgh Steelers? Do you want your player to stay? Why is there a trade package built as a backup? I have to add my two cents to this, as well as, the latest with Haason Reddick backing out of his word to report, where he’s holding out for a new contract from the New York Jets. Then Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb is also waiting to sign on the dotted line toward a new deal. When will all three sign and report as expected before the season commences three weeks from today? Also, Matthew Judon gets traded from New England to Atlanta for a third round pick. And Vikings rookie, JJ McCarthy is out for the 2024 having to repair a torn meniscus in his knee.

(43:57) The NBA will release the 2024-25 schedule today. What possessed them to leak the NBA Cup schedule, starting on November 12 with Klay Thompson first visit to Golden State as a member of the Dallas Mavericks? Could someone please explain why?

(48:15) UFC 305 will take place in Australia with a middleweight title at stake. I’ll discuss the main event between Dricus DuPlessis vs. Israel Adresanya, which should be a bitter battle come Saturday night in the US and Sunday afternoon down under.

Mets Face Crucial ‘First’ Stretch In NL Wild Card Race. AL/NL Disparity In Division Races. Is Jayson Tatum’s Playing Time At Olympics A Story? Takeaways From NFL Preseason. Harbaugh Returning To UM?

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda?  Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase.

Navigating our way through a lackluster sports month as we inch closer to September. I’m glad you stopped by so I can fill you in on all of the latest and greatest. On deck:

(2:45) A friendly reminder to check the previous podcast with special guest, Keith McPherson of WFAN joins me to share his broadcasting journey which is inspiring and fascinating, to say the least.

(4:54) With the Olympics now concluded and back to a somewhat barren wasteland in the sports universe, thank goodness for baseball because that’s the constant as we continue to trudge through August. As the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres create some separation in the NL Wild Card race over the past week, what does this mean for the New York Mets? They were sleepless and pretty much scoreless in Seattle over the weekend as they finished up a 4-6 road trip. They’re a half game behind the Atlanta Braves for the final wild card spot in the NL. Although being in the thick of it, the next 19 games, could determine whether or not, they’ll be within striking distance come September. I’ll go through what the AL Wild Card race looks like at this moment. And the disparity of the division races in the AL compared to the NL.

(30:26) The 2024 Olympics officially have come and gone. I can’t say that I’ll have a happy recap, since I wasn’t invested in any of the action in Paris. I will mention the hullabaloo over the lack of playing time for Jayson Tatum as the Men’s Team won the gold in basketball. The Jordan Chiles bronze medal scoring controversy, Noah Lyles coming up sick during his events on the track and a couple of other things to discuss as we say ‘au revoir’ to the Summer Games.

(36:45) NFL preseason is underway. What are some of the takeaways from the past weekend? Is it Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels first taste of NFL play? The new kickoff rule? Jerry Jones vs. CeeDee Lamb? The release of JuJu Smith Schuster from New England. And Tashaun Gipson has found a home in Jacksonville, while having to serve a suspension for violating the league’s PED policy.

(42:44) Jim Harbaugh is going back to Michigan! This isn’t clickbait. This is a fact. He’s going back to Ann Arbor for the home opener on August 31st as an honorary captain to celebrate their national title of last year. Is this a middle finger to the NCAA?

(45:53) Sadly, I wrap up the podcast with the news of Hall of Fame golfer, Juan ‘Chi Chi’ Rodriguez dying over the weekend at the age of 88. I’ll briefly get into his swashbuckling attitude on the course and how much he enjoyed the game when he played decades ago.

WFAN's Keith McPherson On Building His Brand, Blazing A Trail In His Talk Show Host Journey, Getting A 'Roll Call' From The Yankee Bleacher Creatures & What The Future Holds?

Today concludes a trifecta of podcasts for the week. And it delivers a very special guest. Joining me to share his journey in life and broadcasting is Keith McPherson, sports talk show host of WFAN in New York. He’ll unpack how his love for sports began, growing up in New Jersey. His unbridled passion in grinding his way from working at the MLB Fan Cave in lower Manhattan, to managing social media for the NFL, helping develop podcasts for other hosts, to getting his big opportunity in taking over for the legendary Steve Somers on the famed WFAN. It’s a story of determination, dedication and inspiration in creating his luck and generating a path to stardom. He even got a ‘roll call’ from the famous Bleacher Creatures at Yankee Stadium, while calling a game on the radio filling in for Suzyn Waldman. Oh yeah. This is a conversation that you won’t want to miss.

Are The Dodgers Choking While Padres/D-Backs Peaking? Brandon Aiyuk’s Next Stop? Barkley Stays At TNT! NCAA’s Weak Harbaugh Suspension. Olympic Aggravation. Nadal’s Nadir?

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda?  Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase.

The middle of a JAYREELZ podcast sandwich as there’s plenty to savor before we top it off with another one tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by to whet your appetite with plenty of sports chatter as THISSSSSS…

(3:08) I’ll take care of some housekeeping as another podcast will come your way tomorrow with a special guest (WFAN’s Keith McPherson) and of course, I have to plug the OLIPOP promotion. Please see above and support.

(5:53) The dog days of August are here. Or are they? Considering how cool it’s been in the Northeast over the last couple of days has made it feel like October. Which is apropos with the NFL season commencing just four weeks from today.

(7:00) What is going on in LA with the Dodgers? Or maybe it’s what’s in the water in Arizona and San Diego as they’ve played over the heads to where both teams are just three games back of the Dodgers. Is there any concern that the Dodgers are on the verge of choking the division away? Will the Diamondbacks & Padres eventually cool off? Speaking of which, are the Twins primed to overtake the Guardians in the AL Central, with a four game series taking place between the two this weekend? Baseball is starting to peak here as there are plenty of good series (PHI-ARZ, HOU-BOS, NYM-SEA, STL-KC, BAL-TB) to keep an eye on over the next few days.

(26:55) 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk has been the talk in the NFL over the past few days as we’ll see where he ends up after requesting a trade earlier this training camp. The two teams that are frontrunners (CLE, PIT) or is there another team laying in the weeds to procure the wideout? Chiefs K Harrison Butler signed the richest contract in NFL history at his position. Is there any more pressure on him to deliver as he secured the bag?

(34:50) In the Association, the Utah Jazz re-up on one of their own as Lauri Markkanen signed a max deal to stay in Salt Lake City. Plus, Charles Barkley changes his mind and will honor his TNT contract after the NBA leaves the network after next year. Will his personality work with other sports or events that aren’t basketball?

(39:57) The NCAA hands down a four year suspension to former Michigan Wolverine coach, Jim Harbaugh, for “unethical conduct” during their championship season. With Harbaugh coach of the Los Angeles Chargers over the next five years, is this suspension weak by the NCAA?

(43:22) I haven’t been interested or intrigued by anything that’s going on at the Summer Olympics in Paris. In fact, I’m upset because the committee is adding flag football as a sport to the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. What’s next? Stickball!

(47:12) Rafael Nadal will bypass the final Grand Slam of the calendar year in a couple of weeks at the US Open. Is this the beginning of the end for the tennis great?

White Sox Approaching MLB Futility? Crazy Division & Wild Card Races. Key NFL Injuries As Preseason Begins. An NBA Vet Retires. Why Golf/Tennis Olympic Sports? Boxer Crawford Shines With No Pub?

Revved for a big week of podcasts as this is the first of THREE coming your way. Doing what I love best in bringing you up to speed on ALL that’s happening in sports. On deck:

(2:54) A couple of housekeeping notes before commencing. On Friday, I’ll have a special guest as sports talk show host of WFAN in New York, Keith McPherson will join me to discuss his compelling journey in this business. It’s a conversation that’s packed with plenty of inspiration and dedication that you won’t want to miss. And, of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the promotion regarding OLIPOP. Please see above.

(5:39) I kick off the podcast talking about the dreadful Chicago White Sox. They’re one loss away from tying an American League record and three away from matching the major league record of 23. Will they do it? Who are their opponents? I’ll get into who they’ll play this week and could they possibly become a part of baseball futility? Blake Snell’s no-hitter on Friday vs. Cincinnati. Mike Trout is done for the year with another injury. What’s next for the three time MVP? Gleyber Torres gets deservedly benched. What’s his future in pinstripes if I were the GM? I’ll check on the latest in both leagues as the divisions and wild card races are heating up.

(33:21) NFL preseason games will be in full bloom this week, but there’s been a rash of injuries throughout with some key players (Puka Nacua, De’Andre Hopkins, Justin Herbert, Geno Smith, etc.) in the sport that we’ll have to keep an eye on. There was another retirement (Tarik Cohen), a big time signing in Tampa Bay (OL Tristan Wirfs) and will anyone watch Hard Knocks on HBO (Chicago Bears) starting tomorrow night?

(39:03) Gordon Hayward, the longtime member of the Utah Jazz, played with the Celtics, Hornets, etc. retired after 14 years in the NBA.

(41:02) The Summer Games are into the final week in Paris. I don’t understand why events/sports like golf or tennis is a part of the Olympic landscape. Should it even be a part of the Olympiad? I’ll keep you up to date on what’s gone on over the past few days, including Simone Biles coming in fifth on the balance beam. Was anyone surprised by her performance? Should she be criticized for falling short of the gold?

(51:32) Boxer Terrance Crawford wins a close bout on Saturday night to become a four time champ in different weight classes. Why is it that he’s not getting the recognition he deserves as a fighter who has a record of (41-0 with 31 KO’s)?

Yankees Sizzling, Dodgers Fizzling & Trade Deadline Recap Highlight MLB. Are You Ready For Football As NFL Preseason Commences? Anyone Wrapped Up In Watching The Olympics?

August is here, not only ushering in a new month, but the latest podcast as we get through this slow period in the sports calendar together. On deck:

(4:58) As we usher in a new month, it’s still a relatively slow time in the sports news cycle as we’re five weeks from the NFL season commencing and college football a week prior to that. Baseball remains front and center with the dog days of August still to come. I’ll recap the teams that went all in up until the 6pm trade deadline on Tuesday. (i.e. Dodgers, Orioles & Marlins) Wait! The Marlins? That’s not a typo, people. I’ll peek at some of the other deals that could have an impact in the pennant race over the next two months. What a difference a week makes for the Yankees as they’ve turned their fortunes around with a five game winning streak, punctuated by a three game sweep in Philadelphia. Are they officially back? On the flip side, there’s the Dodgers. They’ve been reeling as their once huge division lead is now down to a handful. Will they turn it around? Are the Padres and Diamondbacks going to nip at LA’s heels for the remainder of the season? I’ll also tap in on the entire MLB landscape to see where we’re at with the division and wild card races.

(33:44) Are you ready for some football, NFL fans? The preseason schedule kicks off tonight with the Hall of Fame game in Canton tonight. I’ll explain why I’m NOT interested in any of the games that are taking place this month. There were a couple of suspensions from players violating the league’s PED policy. Another player retirement. And an organization (the Bears) that doled out the largest contract in franchise history (WR DJ Moore)

(39:39) There was an NBA re-signing as Jarrett Allen re-ups on a three year deal with the Cavaliers. Does this make them a team to be reckoned with in the East? Do I really care about Jayson Tatum’s omission from the first game of the Olympics for the US Men’s Basketball game?

(41:21) We’re almost a week into the 2024 Summer Olympics. Simone Biles, who’s been dealing with a leg issue, comes up big to win a gold medal for the US Women’s Gymnastics Team. Besides that, it’s been mostly quiet. I’ll dive into why the Olympic Games haven’t done much for me to follow or even watch at this point. Will it change over the next ten days?

Which Teams Will Make Noise Before MLB Trade Deadline Tomorrow? Too Much, Too Soon As NFL QB’s Get Paid! TNT Duped By NBA? Early Olympic Storylines! Feeling Blue After FL Trip?

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda?  Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase.

Good to be home, although I was feeling blue on Friday, I’ll unpack that and everything that’s taking place in the world of sports. On deck:

(2:53) Back in the New York groove at the home studio as opposed to the lovely back drop of palm trees and greenery of Florida. I’ll deliver some details of my trip to Florida at the end of the podcast.

(3:21) I have to mention the good folks at OLIPOP. Please see promo above.

(5:17) Baseball’s trade deadline is tomorrow at 6pm. Teams are searching for reinforcements in order to qualify for postseason play. There have already been some big moves to date (Phillies get closer Carlos Estevez & OF Austin Hays. Yankees acquire Jazz Chisholm. Orioles obtain Zac Eflin, Siranthony Dominguez & Cristian Pache. Mariners trade for Randy Arozarena and the Mets pickup Ryne Stanek and Jesse Winker) What other key players are still out there for the taking? Will other teams get involved in any last minute transactions? I’ll take a peek at the latest in the division and wild card races as the dog days of August are almost here.

(37:13) It must be nice to be a quarterback in the NFL. Two more guys get signed to enormous contract. Dolphins signed Tua Tagovailoa to the richest contract in the history of the franchise. While the Packers get Jordan Love to sign on the dotted line. Was this too much money for a QB that’s been injured with concussions in the past? Or a guy that only has one year of starting experience? It’s an interesting commentary on the state and market of what the cost of the QB is in 2024?

(44:30) TNT is looking to get back into the new media deal signed by the NBA where the network was left out. Warner Bros./Turner Media certainly has something to say about it as they may take this to court as they felt they were grossly misinterpreted of their contractual rights. How will this play out when it’s all said and done?

(47:37) One major signing in the NHL wasn’t much of a surprise. The Flyers and Travis Konecny have agreed to an eight year deal.

(48:34) I have a few interesting takeaways from the first two days of the Summer Olympics in Paris. How hurt is Simone Biles’s leg? Will anyone care about Novak Djokovic vs. Rafael Nadal? US Men’s Basketball Team rolls over Serbia, but how come Jayson Tatum didn’t play? Will NBA Rookie of the Year and France’s own Victor Wembanyama carry them deep into a medal game performance?

(55:10) Always transparent and accountable as I missed out on Saturday’s latest UFC matchup.

(56:23) I wrap up with sharing the rest of my trip to Florida, this time in Miami, which brought me home feeling a certain type of way.

Mets Shock With Subway Series Sweep! Huge Series On Deck. NFL Camp Holdouts & 18 Game Season On The Come? TNT In War With NBA? Pressure On US Men’s B-Ball Team As Olympics Begin?

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda?  Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase.

Wrapping up another week as I have one last podcast in the Sunshine State, recapping, reviewing and previewing all that’s happening in the sports world. On deck:

(2:48) As I conclude my tour of Florida, my remote takes me inside (due to construction and a Metrorail train passing by every few minutes) on another hot, sunny summer day in Miami. The acoustics weren’t great in the room that I was recording, so my apologies to those listening if there were any echoes or issues in regards to the latest edition of the podcast.

(4:19) A promo for OLIPOP soda. Please see the offer above.

(5:56) Sports is starting to pick up a little bit as August is on the horizon, but baseball is still front and center here in late July. I cannot believe what the New York Mets did to their crosstown rival, New York Yankees over the past couple of days. They won a close one on Tuesday and last night took the Bombers to the back of the woodshed as they completed a season series sweep in dominating fashion. Now, both teams have to gear up for even bigger series this weekend with division rivals as the Mets play four at home vs. Atlanta. While the Yankees go up to Boston to play the Red Sox for three. How will they fare as both NY teams are either being chased or chasing in the Wild Card standings? I’ll go through the struggles of the Orioles in Miami. The reeling Mariners. The oncoming Rangers in the AL West. There are some intriguing series to keep an eye on (Dodgers-Astros, Guardians-Phillies, Pirates-D’backs) as we’re approaching the final weekend of the month.

(25:29) NFL Training Camps are open for business. You have quite a few  key players holding out (i.e. Trent Williams, Hasan Reddick and Jordan Love) the latter, the most interesting because how much will he get with only one full season under his belt? There were two more retirement announcements (Raiders WR Michael Gallup. Eagles LB Brandon Graham at the end of the year) And the greed of the NFL crops up as there have been high level talks of increasing the season to 18 games in the future. You know how I feel about this. I’ll get into all of it as football is back in our consciousness.

(35:01) The NBA has officially announced their new media deal with ESPN/ABC, NBC & Amazon Prime for the next eleven years worth $76 billion dollars. TNT feels snubbed based on what they said that they’ve countered Amazon’s offer and should still broadcast games after next season. Is this the end for TNT? Can they still negotiate considering this already a done deal. Also, the WNBA signed a new deal as well (11/$2.2 billion, could go up to 3 billion) Is it time for yours truly to start taking notice on a league that has received plenty of attention over the past couple of years? Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau signs a three year extension. And Andrew Nembhard of the Pacers cashed in on a good playoff run with a three year/$59 million dollar deal.

(42:26) A high profile signing in Edmonton for the front office as former Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman will take his talents to Northern Alberta, but this comes after a two year suspension from the NHL for his involvement in the alleged sexual harassment case back in 2010. Was this a good move by the Western Conference Champions?

(45:36) With the Olympics beginning tomorrow night, I’ll preview as much as I could when it comes to what’ll take place in Paris over the next two and a half weeks. One big question going into the Games, how much pressure with the USA Men’s Basketball Team face as they’re the favorites to come home with the Gold Medal?

Detailing My Florida Travels. Sensational Xander Quells Open Drama To Win Second Major! Are The Astros That Good? Or Mariners Bad? Celtics Huge Payroll Risk. Harbaugh Backs Lamar. ESPN’s 100 List Joke

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda?  Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase.

Delivering the first of two podcasts as my journey on the road continues, so hop on board to listen to what it is I have to say about what’s happening in the world of sports and with yours truly. On deck:

(3:06) Back doing another podcast ‘al fresco’, outdoors in the sunshine of Central Florida. I’ll share the past four days of my trip. Spending time with family, where my next destination after today will be and even suffering a foot injury while trying to pursue a personal challenge which fell flat after two days. Also, I plug the OLIPOP soda promo which is I implore you to do so.

(8:36) What was built up to be a thrilling Sunday at The Open Championship with a dozen golfers in the mix to win the final major of 2024, Xander Schauffele pulled away from the pack to win his second major in the last three (He won the PGA two months ago) squashing whatever drama us fans were anticipating going into the final round. I’ll discuss how Schauffele was ready for the moment, unlike years prior. How Shane Lowry’s Saturday doomed him from winning a major tournament. And Rory McIlroy’s quest for another major will have to wait another year as his decade-long drought continues.

(18:05) Baseball resumed its schedule over the weekend. The one series that caught my attention was the Seattle Mariners losing grip of first place in the AL West as the Houston Astros won two of three in the Pacific Northwest. Can the Mariners right the ship with a struggling offense and their best player (Julio Rodriguez) out of the lineup for the foreseeable future? What about the Astros? Are they serious contenders in the AL after a dreadful 12-24 start? I’ll keep you posted as the NL Wild Card race is a log jam and what series will pique my interest in the early part of this week.

(35:29) With the Olympics on the horizon, the US Men’s Basketball Team avoided a scare as South Sudan gave them a run for their money in a game on Saturday. Does this mean anything heading into the Games on Friday? Does Russell Westbrook’s trade to Utah and eventual move to Denver move the needle? The defending champion Boston Celtics signed Sam Houser to a four year/$45 million dollar deal. This includes Jayson Tatum, Derrick White and Jrue Holiday signing massive extensions over the past couple of months. Is this a high risk with the salary cap/luxury tax threshold forthcoming? And how I feel that this core MUST win at least one more title to cement their legacy during this run!

(42:49) NFL training camps will be in full bloom come Wednesday as football will be a part of our consciousness moving forward. Do I really have to hear Ravens coach John Harbaugh come to the defense of his quarterback, Lamar Jackson? This is after he failed to take his team to the Super Bowl after another MVP season. I’ll get into a couple of retirements (Shaq Barrett and Kenyon Drake) and the aforementioned Ravens signing some secondary help (former Bears S Eddie Jackson)

(48:21) ESPN recently published a top 100 athletes of the 21st century list, which YOU KNOW, I’ve got major problems with. I’ll just take it from the top 25 to number one as I can spend an entire podcast as to what’s completely wrong about this list. CORRECTION: I mentioned Nellie Fox, when I meant to say Jimmie Foxx as one of the top right handed hitters of all time, in discussing Albert Pujols.

(57:05) I even mention the winner of the Tour de France as it concluded yesterday in Nice, and not in Paris due to the Olympics on Friday. Tadej Pogacar had a historic double to win cycling’s Super Bowl.

MLB’s ’Second Half’ Outlook With Trade Deadline Looming. Bryson, Rory’s Brutal Starts At The Open. 49ers Aiyuk Wants Out? Davante Pining For Former QB As I Take The Pod OUTDOORS!

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda?  Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase.

Plugging away in the summer heat, back to deliver another podcast with  more of the same through your headphones, earbuds or speakers as I get into all that’s happening in sports. On deck:

(2:38) It’s my first foray in taking the podcast OUTDOORS as I’m in the Sunshine State over the next few days, providing a new and interesting wrinkle to the latest episode. For the visually inclined, I have the VIDEO PODCAST on my YouTube channel so you can see for yourself. (Link to channel is below)

(3:57) Of course, I have to mention my partnership with OLIPOP soda. Please see description above. I greatly appreciate your support!

(4:56) The ‘second half’ of the baseball season will commence tomorrow as the All-Star Break has come and gone. I’ll review what happened at the Home Run Derby & Midsummer Classic earlier this week to set the stage for what could lie ahead over the final two and a half months of the season. I’ll break down the intriguing storylines (i.e. AL division races. NL wild card race) and what impact will it have for those who are fighting for a playoff spot, with the trade deadline looming at the end of the month.

(22:44) The final golf major of the year is at the Royal Troon Golf Course in Scotland. It’s already been a struggle for many of its top players as the weather could be a factor over the next few days. With sluggish starts to Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler and US Open champion Bryson Dechambeau, will guys miss end up missing the cut?

(28:36) Two big time wide receivers have been in the news as NFL training camp will be in full bloom by this time next week. Brandon Aiyuk wants out of San Francisco, but the front office wants him. If he does get shipped elsewhere, I’ll explain why that wouldn’t be as big of a blow for a 49ers squad expected to compete in the NFC. Then Davonte Adams stated that if he were to play on another team, it would be one where Aaron Rodgers will be under center. Let the rumors begin with the Jets possibly looking to acquire him. Is this an actual possibility? Or is it much ado about nothing?

(35:43) There were a couple of passings, unfortunately, to acknowledge in the NBA. One time executive of the Orlando Magic, Pat Williams, dies at 84. And Joe “Jellybean” Bryant, the father of the late, great Kobe Bryant dies at 69. Then you have Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving nursing a broken hand that he suffered during a workout earlier this month as he should be ready come training camp in late September.

(39:22) Things in the NHL have been rather quiet, but there have been a couple of signings (Kings Quinton Byfield, 5yr//$31M and Islanders Simon Holmstrom gets a one year deal) Plus, one long time Washington Capitals star, Evgeny Kuznetsov decides to go back home and play in the KHL.Please subscribe, leave a rating and post a review on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Audacy, Amazon Music and iHeartRadio or wherever you get your podcasts.

Torch Passed To Alcaraz Who Wins 2nd Straight Wimbledon. AL Intrigue, NL Wild Card Craziness Caps MLB 1st Half. Selfless Jalen Brunson’s Massive Gamble. Two Sad Passings In NFL

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda?  Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase.

Smack dab in the middle of the summer season, the heat isn’t letting up any time soon. Same for yours truly as I’ll dole out praise and critiques on the latest and greatest in the sports world with the latest podcast. On deck:

(3:14) Some housekeeping to attend to as I implore you all to quench your thirst during this hot summer to date, by going to www.drinkolipop.com OLIPOP soda is your panacea to cool off during the season. You’ll get 15% OFF of your order by using the code: JAYREELZ at checkout. I truly appreciate it.

(5:08) What more can you say about the play of Carlos Alcaraz, winning his second straight Wimbledon and back to back Grand Slam Finals (he won the French Open last month) defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets. Has the torch been passed to the 21 year old? Who else can challenge him besides Djokovic moving forward. On the women’s side, #31 ranked Barbora Krejcikova surprisingly won her first Wimbledon defeating upstart Jasmin Paolini in a riveting match as the third Grand Slam of 2024 is complete.

(19:47) MLB has hit the All-Star Break. I’ll take a look at the big picture of the first half (HINT: AL has some intrigue, NL not so much. Unless you’re looking at the wild card which is bananas at the moment), discuss some of the big series and stories from the weekend. I can’t forget about the draft last night as they do their best to generate interest similar to the NFL and NBA Drafts. The Home Run Derby tonight (and Pete Alonso’s participation) and how the All-Star Game is a shell of its former self. And I’ll spend a minute on the state of Wander Franco’s status as who knows when we’ll ever see him grace a diamond considering the latest news regarding the embattled star player.

(47:21) Knicks guard Jalen Brunson has taken a pay cut to increase payroll flexibility for the team to procure or re-sign players in their quest to get to the NBA Finals. Was this a smart move for Brunson? Will the Knicks make a deal to bring in someone with championship experience to their roster before training camp? Also, the league has released the group series for the upcoming 2024 NBA Cup. Seriously? Does anyone really care?

(57:40) Some sad news as there were two deaths in the NFL over the past few days. Longtime defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, architect of the Tampa 2 defense of the late 90’s into the 2000’s, dies at the age of 84. And former Baltimore Raven, Jacoby Jones, who has the longest play in Super Bowl history (108 yard kickoff return) dies at the age of 40. I close out with a few choice words of enjoying life and living in the moment.

Phillies Flying. Yankees MUST Win? Rangers Last Stand As MLB Heads Into Break. NBA’s Record Media Deal/USA Men’s Team Starting 5? WHAT? Not Cool Novak Shouts At Fans! US Soccer Coach Canned

I’m honored to welcome in a new partnership to the podcast. Are you familiar with OLIPOP soda?  Please go to www.drinkolipop.com, use promo code JAYREELZ for 15% off of your purchase.

Summer continues to sizzle in these parts, which may not be said for the latest in sports, but have no fear, I’m packing some heat with analysis and opinions with whatever’s going on as the podcast is available for consumption. On deck:

(2:58) Just a little housekeeping as I share a reminder to support my brand partnership with OLIPOP Soda, to save 15% using the code JAYREELZ upon checkout at www.drinkolipop.com They have plenty of great flavors that will quench your thirst in this summer heat.I would truly appreciate it if you can stop by and order a 12 pack or two.

(4:25) The Philadelphia Phillies are showing why they’re the best team in the National League as they’ve taken the first two of their three game series against the LA Dodgers. Will they sweep? I think the Yankees are facing a MUST WIN in July as they could secure their first series win in a month down in Tampa today, before heading to Baltimore for.an AL East showdown with the Orioles. I’ll take a look at the rest of the MLB landscape and big series to look for, as we’re just a weekend of games away from the All-Star Break.

(29:24) A new media rights deal is on the horizon with the NBA. It’s a record eleven year, $76 BILLION dollar deal. What does this mean for the networks/streaming platforms involved? What about players salaries? You will be floored by what you’ll hear, but this is the reality of what the Association will look like down the road. The USA Men’s Basketball team has been in the news recently. Should I or we be wrapped up in who’s going to start in their first game with the Olympics set to open two weeks from tomorrow? And with Kawhi Leonard departing from the team, am I disappointed that they didn’t select Jaylen Brown to take his place?

(42:33) Novak Djokovic has stirred up the fans at Wimbledon the other day, feeling disrespected by the fans in his match against Holger Rune. Was he right for calling them out on the court? Otherwise, it’s been a quiet week leading into the weekend where champions will be crowned on Saturday & Sunday. I’ll preview what lies ahead on the men’s and women’s side, including Daniil Medvedev enormous match vs. Carlos Alcaraz.

(50:54)I have to unpack how the Steelers signing of CB Cameron Sutton, has impacted their secondary, because of his eight game suspension that was handed down earlier this week. I’m sure they knew that this was coming down the pike. Is anyone interested in the offseason Hard Knocks with the NY Giants. What’s next? Vacationing with the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs?

(55:07) I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the firing of USMNT coach, Gregg Berhalter, who couldn’t get out of their group with losses to Uruguay and Panama. What if the US is unable to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, where they are the host nation for this event?

A Surprising Yankee Plight With All Star Break Looming. Warrior Dynasty Done? Celtics Selling Team? Preds, Blackhawks Thrive In NHL Free Agency. Iga Stunned At Wimbledon. NFL Training Camps On Deck

Back after a little 4th Of July respite as I deliver the same fire, passion and opinions with all that’s going on in the sports world. On deck:

(4:35) After a minute discussing the 4th of July holiday, baseball is front and center as we head into the All-Star Break after this week. The big story over is the plight of the New York Yankees over the past month. What has gone on with the Bombers and will it continue with huge road series vs. the Rays & Orioles upcoming? It’s a fascinating deep dive on what has taken place with a team that has sights set on getting back to the World Series for the first time in 15 years. I’ll take a look at the rest of the MLB landscape, which has pretty much stayed the same since we last met a week ago today.

(23:17) NBA free agency should cool off after a crazy first week. I’ll go over some of the big signings (Klay Thompson to Dallas & DeMar DeRozan to Sacramento) to date. Steph Curry commented with Klay’s departure that the Warriors are the last dynasty in the NBA. I’ll refute that and give plenty of examples why they weren’t a true dynasty in my eyes. I’ll share my two cents on the Celtics ownership selling their franchise. Why I found it shocking? And what I hope they DON’T DO when it comes to who’ll be the next owner of the team?

(40:59) Same for the NHL as free agency has been fast and furious with the Nashville Predators making some big moves with the signings of Steven Stamkos & Jonathan Marchessault. The Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks and Western Conference champion Edmonton Oilers have made significant deals to improve their rosters as this period should start to quiet down from here on forward. Do I get crazy about the New York Islanders acquisition of Anthony Duclair? Kudos to the Seattle Kraken for hiring the first woman to be an assistant coach (Jessica Campbell) behind the bench in NHL history.

(48:11) Wimbledon on the men’s side has been chalk for the most part as Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, among others, still alive for a Grand Slam title. It’s the women’s side that’s been astonishing. #1 women’s player Iga Swiatek doesn’t make it into Week 2 of the tournament. Why I can’t let this slide as she needs to step up on a grass surface?

(55:38) Don’t look now, but training camps in the NFL open up as early as this week! That’s not a typo. Am I ready for some football with training camp, the Hall of Fame Game, preseason and the curtain raising on September 5th in Kansas City? Sadly, there was a passing with a young player in the sport as Minnesota Vikings fourth round pick, Khyree Jackson and two other college players, perished in a car accident in Maryland over the weekend.

It’s a new day, new week, new month, but the same ol’ fast and furious, action packed sports talk that you’ve come to know and love as the latest podcast is forthcoming. On deck:

(4:04) With July ushered in, it’s time to check in on MLB teams that can be relevant throughout the summer as they make a play for October baseball. I’ll unpack the AL & NL wild card races for the first time. How will the Twins, Royals, Red Sox, Astros and Rays fare throughout the final three months of the regular season? Same for the Padres, Cardinals, Mets, Diamondbacks Giants and Pirates? I’ll preview some upcoming series leading into the 4th of July holiday and yes, I’ll briefly mention Bobby Bonilla Day as baseball fans can laugh at the Mets and serenade today’s BB Day!

(31:55) NBA free agency has arrived. There aren’t many big profile guys on the list, minus Klay Thompson and DeMar DeRozan. Paul George was arguably the number one guy leading the pack, but he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers to a four year deal. Why the cons outweigh the pros when it comes to the former Clipper? I’ll address what else could transpire during this opening week of business in the Association and a couple of new coaches (JB Bickerstaff in Detroit and Kenny Atkinson in Cleveland), LeBron James opting out of his contract looking for an extension AND the Lakers drafted his son, Bronny. Are we looking at a three ring circus in LA leading up to training camp in late September?

(48:53) The NHL had their draft over the weekend, but there was plenty of wheeling and dealing throughout the rest of the league as the Tampa Bay Lightning made some shrewd moves (sending Mihkail Sergachev to UTAH, Tanner Jeannot to LA, acquiring scorer Jake Guentzel & signing him to a long term deal. There’s been a couple of other signings (Sam Reinhart stays in FLA, Patrick Kane with DET) And what about my beloved Islanders? What are they going to do to as they attempt to keep up with the Joneses in the East?

(56:27) Wimbledon commences at the All England Club today. I’ll preview the men’s side with Novak Djokovic’s swift return from knee surgery. How will he respond? And can Iga Swiatek capture her first title at Wimbledon as the #1 women’s player in the world?

(1:02:45) UFC 303’s main event had Alex Pereira KO Jiri Prochazka with a head kick in the second round of their light heavyweight bout on Saturday night.
