Playoff Storylines (NBA: Play In, 76ers, Nets. NHL: Pens Psyche, Leafs Run?) In Quest For Titles, MLB's Lackluster Start? Brady vs. NE Highlight NFL Schedule. Preakness Letdown. PGA Preview

The sports season starts to intensify and I’ll make sure it’s all covered as Episode 194 is ready for consumption. On deck:

(5:00) The NBA playoffs are just about here, but first, the play-in tournament that’ll determine who’ll make it into the top-8 seeds in each conference. I’ll take a look at the four games (CHA-IND, WSH-BOS, MEM-SA, GS-LAL) and who’ll move forward to join the other six in the East & West. I’ll have all of the juicy storylines from the Sixers ‘process’, the Nets ‘win now’ moment. Are the Clippers mentally and spiritually ready to push their game to the next level? Do you believe in the Jazz & Suns, with lots more playoff talk to dissect. I’ll get into Alex Rodriguez teaming up to purchase the T’Wolves. The Hall of Fame Ceremony with induction to Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan and the late, Kobe Bryant. As well as, next years class highlighted by Paul Pierce, Chris Bosh, Ben Wallace and Chris Webber. Let the debate begin. Is C-Webb a Hall of Famer? I’ll tell you why he isn’t!

(40:00) The Stanley Cup Playoffs have begun. The storylines aren’t aplenty as they are in the NBA, but with the Penguins losing Game 1 in OT yesterday, is their psyche taking a huge hit for their recent playoff failures? Will the Lightning-Panthers series be as advertised? After one game, it sure is. I’ll preview the other series that haven’t gotten underway, border restrictions for the Canadian team that makes it to the Cup Semifinals and more housecleaning at Madison Square Garden as David Quinn was dismissed as coach. Was it fair?

(55:18) Has the first quarter of the MLB season been lackluster? I’ll dive into the latest headlines, including, the Jarred Kelenic era opening in Seattle over the weekend.

(1:05:30) I’ll share my thoughts on the NFL schedule. Brady vs. the Patriots on October 3rd. Who has the hardest schedule in the league? Some of the Sunday night/Monday night docket and Tim Tebow is NOT to blame for him being signed to play TE in Jacksonville. You won’t want to miss that.

(1:21:34) Medina Spirit doesn’t get the job done as he finishes third in the Preakness. Will there be any buzz at the Belmont Stakes in three weeks? Probably not, but I have two instances where that could change.

(1:24:30) I’ll preview the second golf major of the year as the PGA is on the horizon. Who will be the one player I’ll keep an eye on in a stacked field? Will Brooks Koepka regain his PGA winning ways? Also, my prediction as to who will win?

(1:28:01) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week!

Is Pujols Done? No-Hitters Not Special? Lakers/Celtics: Play-In Participants? Westbrook's Record Noteworthy? Leafs Cup Pressure? NFL Sked Prediction. Derby Horse Dirty For Preakness?

Kicking up the sports talk intensity another notch as there’s LOT to dive into as Episode 193 is served! On deck:

(6:15) Is this the end for future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols? I’ll dissect the dominant first baseman’s career and will he latch onto another team? Also, have no-hitters become the norm? I have a theory that may explain why pitchers are besting hitters just six weeks into the season. Plus, the disastrous Dodgers and a topsy turvy week for the Mets (fired hitting coaches, Jacob deGrom’s injury and rats? Or raccoons?)

(30:40) The NBA heads into the final week of the regular season. Could it be that both the Lakers and Celtics are preparing to be in the play-in tournament? With a hobbled LeBron James, why I think the Lakers may not be long for the postseason? And the Celtics woes may have them OUT of the postseason before it really gets started. What about Coach Brad Stevens? Is he on the hot seat? I’ll share some thoughts on that, as well as, what to make of Russell Westbrook’s tying Oscar Robertson’s all time triple double record? Is it noteworthy? Or a complete afterthought?

(52:31) The NHL season has completed. Well, sort of. I’ll get into the latest as the league gets set for another postseason run to the Stanley Cup. is this the year for the Toronto Maple Leafs and their Cup starved fans? And the aftermath at the Garden where the Rangers not only release their VP of Hockey Operations and GM, but receive a hefty fine in the process and the players have to stick up for one another because of Capitals winger, Tom Wilson’s physical play and subsequent fight filled rematch two nights later.

(1:10:00) The NFL schedule will be released on Wednesday. I’ll predict who’ll play the Buccaneers on the Opening Thursday night of the new year AND when the highly anticipated meeting of Brady vs. Belichick in Foxborough this fall will take place? I’ll have the latest on the Aaron Rodgers saga in Green Bay (as he takes a page out of the NBA Player Empowerment Handbook)

(1:19:16) The Preakness and Horse Racing takes a tremendous hit as Kentucky Derby winner, Medina Spirit, tests positive for an anti-inflammatory steroid. Will he be stripped of his victory? If not, what does this mean for the second leg of the Triple Crown come Saturday? Lots to unpack here as the details become dirty by the day.

(1:23:17) A thought on the biggest sporting event in terms of attendance over the weekend as Canelo Alvarez wins by TKO over Billy Joe Saunders.

(1:24:18) Lastly, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Rodgers Done In GB? NFL Draft Fatigue, Coverage & Conclusion. Phillies Wild Week. LBJ's Play In Comments Played Out? Bucks: Run At #1 Seed? NHL's TV Deal & Border Issue? Historic Derby Recap

Kicking off the fifth month of 2021 (already? Geez!) as I satiate your sports appetite on all that’s happening as Episode 192 is served. On deck:

(5:55) All of the hype, predictions and draft fatigue of the NFL is finally behind us, well, not just quite yet, as I delve into all that happened over the three day event in Cleveland. Overshadowing that is the news of Aaron Rodgers wanting out of Green Bay. Is this something that we need to watch out for on a day in-day out basis? I have to trash the opening minutes of the Draft coverage as there were a few things I did not like, to say the least. I share my thoughts on why did Denver pass on a QB in the first round? Did Chicago learn its lesson from a few years back in drafting Mitchell Trubisky to move up and select Justin Fields? Is Trey Lance the answer in San Francisco? What about Mac Jones in New England? Najee Harris? Rashod Bateman in Baltimore? I’ll have it all covered, including, is Richard Sherman and a reunion with the Seahawks forthcoming?

(38:47) The Philadelphia Phillies had a week to remember! Or forget? I’ll chronicle the past five days for the ballclub. The potential Royal Rumble of the NL East in 2021. The Dodgers are flailing and the Yankees are rebounding? And a familiar foe visits the Bronx this week in what should be a raucous setting.

(50:00) LeBron James is back in the lineup, but the Lakers are sliding quickly in the West. He has a few words about the play-in tournament as his team hovers near the seven seed in the conference. I have a few things to say about that as well. Are the Bucks making a push for the two seed in the East? A possible one seed? I’ll recap the latest playoff scenarios as we’re two weeks away from the seasons conclusion.

(1:02:45) The NHL joins forces with TNT as they did with ESPN a couple of weeks prior. What does this mean for visibility throughout the country? Also, the possible border issue between the US and Canada during the postseason? I have the easy fix. Are the Penguins peaking at the right time as they attempt to make one last run for Lord’s Stanley Cup? The Maple Leafs expectations for a long awaited Cup run this spring. And a new team is officially introduced to the NHL landscape as the Kraken of Seattle are in the fold.

(1:13:45) A Kentucky Derby recap as Medina Spirit wins the Run for the Roses by a half length. Does this bode well for a second victory at the Preakness in less than two weeks?

(1:19:14) Last but not least, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Break Up The Knicks! Randle For MVP? NHL's Central/East Playoff Push. Padres Payback Leads MLB Storylines. No NFL Draft Drama! Revising College Football Playoff Format? Kentucky Derby Preview

I close out April in grand fashion as I take you through the sports universe with all that it has to offer as Episode #191 is ready for consumption. On deck:

(5:57) I jumpstart the pod with news and notes throughout the NBA. Break up the Knicks!!! I’ll get into their ascendance in the East, should Julius Randle be in consideration for the MVP? A possible second round matchup vs. Brooklyn? Speaking of the Nets, Kevin Durant made his return yesterday as they sit atop the Eastern Conference with three weeks to go in the regular season. Will they hold serve? I’ll also discuss the struggling Lakers as we await on LeBron James’s arrival back into the lineup and rundown both conferences in an up to the minute review of the playoff races.

(34:04) I’ll take a trip around the ice as the hunt for the NHL postseason is heating up. I’ll check in on the Islanders recent trip up against Washington and the Central Division remains tight as Carolina, Florida and Tampa Bay battle for first place.

(43:09) The Padres-Dodgers series provided more thrills than the first series in San Diego the week before. I’ll breakdown how payback was issued by the Pads, the managing of Dave Roberts, plus other news throughout the MLB, including, Gerrit Cole vs Shane Bieber, the brilliance of Jacob deGrom and the union & league are speaking on a new CBA?

(57:55) The NFL Draft is days away. I’ll dissect what looks like a predictable start for the first few picks and who the Steelers should draft with their selection in the first round? CORRECTION: Aaron Rodgers was part of the 2005 Draft, not 2015 as I mentioned! Tom Brady thinks the quality of football could take a hit this fall?

(1:05:39) An increase in the playoff format for college football could be forthcoming? I’ll share my take on what the NCAA should do.

(1:07:36) I’ll preview the favorites of the Kentucky Derby as the first leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown is back where it belongs. Will there be a huge turnout, considering COVID protocols and restrictions?

(1:11:01) MMA’s Kamaru Usman continues his record setting streak in the welterweight division as he’s victorious yet again vs Jorge Masvidal.

(1:13:26) Last, but not least, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Dodgers Rising/Yankees Falling, Nets Title Chances Without KD? How Minneapolis Verdict Could Affect Sports World? NHL's Marleau's Mega Milestone! Julian Edelman's Next Stop: Canton?

I’ve got lots to get off of my chest as I take you through the sports universe as Episode 190 is ready for consumption. On deck:

(5:24) The polar opposites of what we’ve seen so far from the LA Dodgers (13-3, best record in the majors) and the NY Yankees (5-10, worst record in the American League) I’ll break down both teams to date and take a trip throughout the leagues and discuss AJ Hinch’s return to Houston, Carlos Rodon’s no-hitter, Shane Bieber’s historic start and an injury update on Ronald Acuna, Jr.

(30:08) The NBA concluded a very interesting week detailing Philadelphia overtaking the Brooklyn in the East. Analysis of the Nets title chances as players are consistently in and out of the lineup, the importance of Kevin Durant’s health and his presence on the floor, Coach Steve Nash’s and GM Sean Marks impact on the team while exhibiting some integrity to a veteran laden group. i’ll get into the key loss for Denver as Jamal Murray is done for the season. The close call from Donovan Mitchell as they’re still atop the West. Luka Doncic/Mark Cuban’s comments regarding the play-in tournament. Are they wrong? Newly minted part owner of the Jazz, Dwyane Wade and how his influence and pedigree could help come the postseason? Steph Curry is the Warriors all-time scorer in team history, And the potential outcome in Minneapolis as the jury deliberation will begin in the Derek Chauvin case. What does this mean for the world of sports? For society? I have a message to the sports fan that they may not want to hear, but is dripping with truth.

(56:21) The NHL will celebrate a moment that many never thought would happen. Sharks winger, Patrick Marleau will become the all time leader in games played at 1,768. I’ll compare this to other players of the past generation to show how much of an achievement this is for the game and the league overall. Also, the Canucks have played their first game in over three weeks due to players contracting the coronavirus. Will they try to squeeze in their full schedule over the next month? And some big games in the Central and Eastern Division this week as first place is up for grabs.

(1:05:24) Julian Edelman rides off into the sunset as he retires from the New England Patriots. Is the Pro Football Hall of Fame the next stop of his ‘football life’? Why I say it is NOT, as well as, is Justin Fields’s stock slipping among the top QB’s on the draft board as Round 1 of the NFL Draft is next Thursday?

(1:15:46) Of course, I’ll have my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Matsuyama 'Master'ful! Run Support For Mets deGrom? HA! An NBA Budding Rivalry Out West? Kyrie On Leave AGAIN! NHL Wheeling & Dealing! Jets Send Darnold To Carolina For What In Return?

Taking you through the sports universe with fast-paced, non-stop, unapologetic opinions and analysis like no other as Episode 189 is primed and ready to be heard. On deck:

(5:07) A rather ho-hum Masters golf tournament became historic as Hideki Matsuyama is the first Japanese man to win a major! I’ll get into specifics on the weekend overall. Huge names not making the cut (i.e. Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy to name a couple). Players coming out of the woodwork (i.e. Will Zalatoris and Marc Leishman) and others trying to make a run at the top of the leaderboard (i.e. Xander Schauffele and Jordan Spieth). Even Bryson DeChambeau wasn’t a threat throughout the weekend as I recap all that went down in Augusta.

(22:21) The MLB season is about 11 days old (seven if you’re a Met fan like myself) and there’s already a few things to gripe about. From the lack of run support AGAIN for ace Jacob deGrom, to the controversial opening day win with Michael Conforto sticking his elbow out for a walk off hit by pitch RBI, to why did they Mets play when it was raining while foiling Marcus Stroman’s start. UGH! You know I have lots to say on this. Also, the Yankees pitching woes, the missed call at home plate which cost the Braves a possible win against the Phillies and an NCAA Division I women’s softball player makes history.

(38:32) The NBA is starting to heat up a little bit on the court as the Suns take care of the Jazz at home last week. Only to follow up with a tough loss against the Clippers the next night. The story there that’s building is a budding rivalry as tensions flare and some comments were made by Clipper forward, Paul George. I’ll get into that, as well as, an update on the return of Anthony Davis and LeBron James, Kyrie Irving is out of the lineup for personal reasons AGAIN and A-Rod to become a minority owner of the T-Wolves?

(51:37) The trade deadline has come and gone in the NHL and the Eastern Conference has done most of the damage. The Islanders make a big trade to acquire two former New Jersey Devils, but the biggest trade may be the final piece in the puzzle for the team with the longest Stanley Cup drought north of the border. I’ll delve into the deals that may impact the division races as we head into the homestretch of the regular season.

(1:01:12) The Jets send Sam Darnold packing to Carolina. Why did they get so little in return? Why were they enamored with potential pick in BYU QB, Zack Wilson? Plus, the real reason why they jettisoned the former Jet QB. And the ongoing saga of Deshaun Watson as accusation pile up against him. Will he play this year? Is a suspension from the league looming? A thought as to why Watson wanted out of Houston? I’ll have all of that…

(1:10:15) …and my Hero and Zero of the Week!

UCLA-Gonzaga Classic/Showdown With Baylor For Title, Intriguing NBA Playoff Scenarios, MLB Bails On ATL for ASG, NHL's Canucks & COVID, Sick Of NFL Pro Day Hype! Koepka Return/Masters Preview

Turning the calendar to April as the best sports month of the year arrives. I’ll have it all covered as Episode 188 is firing on all cylinders. On deck:

(5:25) Highlighting the instant classic between UCLA vs. Gonzaga in the semifinals. What this victory means as they set their sights on an undefeated season against the second ranked team in the nation? With a win, are Gonzaga considered an all-time great team? As great as this game was, it actually could’ve been just a touch better. I’ll explain.

(31:31) The NBA has a couple of developing playoff stories to keep an eye on. In the East, how the 4-8 seeds (in particular, 4-6) are imperative for avoiding Brooklyn or Philadelphia in the first round? Out West, why the Lakers positioned in the 4-5 or 6 seed means trouble for the Nuggets or Clippers? Also, the one thing that almost stopped the Jazz on their magical regular season to date?

(45:51) Some storylines to highlight the first weekend of the MLB season, including the move by the league to remove the All-Star Game in Atlanta come July? Was it the right move? What about The Masters and the Atlanta Hawks? Will we see something similar in the days to come? Of course, I have a thought on the extension of Mets SS Francisco Lindor as he’s signed on the dotted line for the next ten years at $341 million dollars!

(59:30) The Vancouver Canucks are now dealing with the fallout of COVID, north of the border for the first time this season. Will they regroup to make a push to the final seed in the Western Division? I’ll also discuss the hotly contested Central and Eastern Divisions as the competition is stiff as to who’ll come out on top once the playoffs begin.

(1:07:51) Why all of the hype and oversaturated news coming out of these pro days as the NFL is three and a half weeks away from the Draft? I’ll assess this nonsense and why are fans caught up in this? And the WFT (Washington Football Team) will keep their current title for the team? REALLY?

(1:14:43) The tradition unlike any other is back. The Masters starts on Thursday. I’ll have a preview and prediction as to who’ll win. Plus, Brooks Koepka may make the first tee after knee surgery just a few weeks ago?

(1:20:25) Not to mention, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Oregon St/UCLA Sweet! Elite Eight On Deck! 2021 MLB & Mets Preview. Nets-Lakers Finals Destiny? 17 NFL Regular Season Game Expansion? Oscar de la Hoya's Comeback Attempt?

We’re already a quarter into 2021! Time is passing us by, so make the most of it! While I’m at it, I ALWAYS make sure to deliver everything in the world of sports with lots of passion, entertainment and excitement as Episode 187 is ready for action! On deck:

(5:36) We’re down to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Men’s Tournament. I’ll recap what took place over the weekend with an eye on who may move on to the Final Four! How does this tournament compare to years’ past? And a couple of new coaching hires in the sport have made some news.

(30:59) The MLB season is on the horizon! I’ll go through all of the divisions, my six over/under win total predictions, as well as, who’ll play in the Fall Classic and win! Plus, a preview of my beloved Mets! What’s the teams biggest weakness? Can they contend in the NL East?

(1:04:00) The NBA Trade Deadline has come and gone, but two free agents made the biggest noise as LaMarcus Aldridge goes to Brooklyn and Andre Drummond signs with the Lakers. Are they on a collision course to meet in the Finals?

(1:13:42) The NFL Draft is a month from today and some big trade news at the top of the draft took place. The Dolphins were wheeling and dealing with the 49ers and Eagles as they have plenty of draft capital in the first three rounds of the draft. How will the top six picks play out? Will the Jets draft a QB? What about the Niners? Also, the NFL will expand their regular season schedule to 17 games. Why I DESPISE the move? And news on Steelers WR Chase Claypool’s parking lot scuffle two weeks ago? Will there be repercussions?

(1:31:17) NHL referee Tim Peel gets his ‘early retirement’ papers after his assessment of a penalty was picked up on his microphone. Did the NHL do the right thing by terminating him for life?

(1:34:53) Francis Ngannou is your new MMA heavyweight champion. Is a bout with famed fighter, Jon Jones, up next?

(1:36:10) Oscar de la Hoya is attempting to make a comeback? Seriously? I’ll add my two shiny red cents on that.

(1:38:09) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Cinderella Upsets Highlight The 'Madness', Does LeBron's Injury Impact The West? Buyer Belichick & Watson's Woes In Houston, Should The Mets Sign Lindor Now? Koepka Out Of The Masters?

Spring has arrived! The weather (in the Northeast) has been gorgeous as we’re off to a good start. Let me do the same as there is lots to cover in the world of sports. Episode #186 is ready for your earbuds or speakers. On deck:

(4:41) The first three days of March Madness has been just that! A different year is affecting the ‘feel’ of the tournament to date, including major upsets by Loyola Chicago and Oral Roberts. Can the lower seeds continue to hang and beat the top seeds in the bracket? The impact of the sport as it’s taking shape earlier than normal. I’ll also have a postmortem on my beloved Georgetown Hoyas, who lost to Colorado on Saturday as they’re out of contention.

(34:34) How will the West shape up after the Lakers lose LeBron James to a high ankle sprain indefinitely? The Celtics team meeting as there’s ‘still time left’. Coach Brad Stevens squashing rumors he’s returning back to coach in college. LaMelo Ball’s injury may force him out for the rest of the year. Who’s next to become a possible Rookie of the Year?

(45:49) The Patriots are the free agent winners of March as they’ve made significant moves to bolster their roster. I’ll get into that, as well as, DeSean Jackson’s impact for the Rams (with a ginormous IF!) An overhaul in the desert for the Cardinals. Trent Williams record breaking payday. JuJu Smith-Schuster’s loyalty in Pittsburgh. The Deshaun Watson saga takes an ugly turn with a seedy lawyer at the forefront of this. What Watson should do (but won’t) to quiet the masses? And NFL content reigns supreme as the league and ESPN sign for an 11 year marriage, which includes more playoff games and in the rotation to broadcast the Super Bowl.

(1:03:20) An NHL recap discusses the loss of Islanders captain Anders Lee. A hobbled Evgeni Malkin. The Bruins dealing with COVID. What’s going to happen with their schedule as a couple of games have been cancelled? Mika Zibanejad’s record night, coupled with Artemi Panerin’s reinstatement and the Avalanche bring in a backup goalie with ZERO wins this year?

(1:11:26) Opening Day is 10 days away as the Met fan sweats to see if SS Francisco Lindor signs on the dotted line before the first game, as he states he will become a free agent if he doesn’t sign before the start of the season. Should the Mets re-sign him now?

(1:20:33) Some golf news as we’re two and a half weeks away from The Masters commencing at Augusta. Will Brooks Koepka be at the first tee come April 8th? Also, a thought on when Tiger Woods MIGHT come back and play at a golf course, near or not so near, you.

(1:23:39) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Gonzaga's Pressure Of Perfection? Illinois Soaring & Hoya Paranoia As Madness Begins. Spurs Aldridge Out/Clips Concern? NHL+ESPN=Success? Bucs Retool, Brees: Top QB Ever? Dak Deserves 160M?

The ides of March are here and so is another jam packed, fast paced sports talk podcast that’ll deliver like no other as Episode #185 is in full effect. On deck:

(4:35) The horizon of clearing the Sports Dead Zone is drawing near as spring, the NCAA Tournament and the baseball season are about to commence in the days and weeks to come.

(6:56) Speaking of the Tournament, I’ll cover the top storylines heading into March Madness (The NCAA barely cross the Conference Championship finish line. Is Gonzaga ready to make history? Can the Fighting Illini continue their torrid run? Will COVID affect the tournament at some point?), are some of the topics I’ll discuss. I’ll breakdown the four regions, which teams will make it to the Final Four and who’ll cut down the nets as a champion!

(41:21) The NBA has been a bit quiet this past week. Other than what team will Spurs F LaMarcus Aldridge get traded to and an injury to Sixers C Joel Embiid, there isn’t much cooking throughout the Association. I will bring you up to speed on both the East & West and where we are in the standings in each conference.

(49:22) The NHL and ESPN are ready for their second ‘marriage’. What does this mean to the future of a sports that’s in purgatory with the casual fan? I’ll dive into that, as well as, the Islanders playing their best hockey with the Carolina Hurricanes not too far behind. Will there be any drama as there’s some separation in the race between the top and bottom teams in all four divisions?

(1:03:45) The MLB season is two and a half weeks away, but nothing much is happening in the Grapefruit and Cactus Leagues. Although Stephen Strasburg is nursing an injury and the Mets celebrating a World Series in MARCH???

(1:05:46) NFL free agency is two days away. The Buccaneers are re-tooling as they’ve re-signed their QB (Tom Brady), their star linebackers (Lavonte David and Shaq Barrett) and have franchised one of their top wideouts (Chris Godwin). I’ll share my thoughts on the retirement of Saints QB, Drew Brees. He’s an all time great, but is he a top 10 quarterback of all time? Also, Dak Prescott gets his deal at four years and 160 million dollars, but after a gruesome ankle injury is he worth that much? Cam Newton re-ups in New England for one year at 14 million. I ask, why???

(1:18:50) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week that you won’t want to miss!!!

Officiating, Blake To BK, Jazz's Respect, Suns Rising Headlines NBA's 2nd Half. Zags/Baylor Inevitable? NHL's Wilson Suspension & Reputation. Lou Gehrig Day. 50th Anniv Of Ali-Frazier

The sports universe continues to travel at warp speed, so let me navigate you through the stratosphere as I have a lot to share as Episode 183 is ready for takeoff! On deck:

(4:56) The NBA All-Star Game has come and gone. It’ll be a rather swift recap as there are other important things to discuss. CORRECTION: Anfernee Simons is a member of the Portland Trail Blazers, NOT the Toronto Raptors. I had Raptors stuck in my head because he wore a throwback Tracy McGrady jersey to honor him in the dunk contest. Such as, the officiating and the interminable final two minutes of close ball games to start. I’ll also talk about the Blake Griffin signing to Brooklyn. Will he be a contributor to their rise in the East? The Joel Embiid/Ben Simmons COVID watch. James Harden’s return to Houston and Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta’s declaration of retiring Harden’s #13 with the franchise. (????) Utah’s respect factor in the West. An uprising in Phoenix and much more!

(33:01) Is a clash between Gonzaga and Baylor for the national title a foregone conclusion? Why I think Gonzaga needs to lose before the tournament? Michigan takes a slip and fall. Illinois shines in Big 10. Ohio State plummets. So does West Virginia. I’ll have an up to the minute review in college basketball as we enter Conference Championship Week as we’re just days away from Selection Sunday.

(42:38) The Washington Capitals, Tom Wilson draws a suspension for slamming Bruins D, Brandon Carlo into the boards. I have a logical and simple reason (although the league will NEVER let it happen) as to curtailing hits like that and why the NHL needs to enforce it? The retirement of Blackhawks D, Brent Seabrook. The Flames hire another coach as the coaching carousel continues in Calgary. The untimely death of Mark Pavelich.

(56:42) All is quiet in the MLB, but there are a few things to highlight. Shohei Ohtani’s progress as a starting pitcher. Trevor Bauer’s ‘one eyed’ perfect inning. Will that spark the Padres? Indians’ Jose Ramirez and Franmil Reyes COVID trials. The Mickey Callaway saga continues. Aaron Boone’s recovery. And why Lou Gehrig Day is what the MLB needs to connect with their history and the fans?

(1:08:17) The NFL will open for their business year next Wednesday. with JJ Watt leading the way to Arizona. Plus, Alex Smith’s candid comments on his departure from Washington.

(1:11:42) Bryson Dechambeau wins the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Will he pick up momentum as The Masters are a month away.

(1:12:53) Today marks the Golden Anniversary of arguably, the greatest sports night/event in the history of sports. Revisiting Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier at Madison Square Garden and the impact it had during that time and still resonates today.

(1:19:05) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

The anniversary celebration vibes continue as I have another special guest on tap as Episode 182 is ready for your listening pleasure.

CBS Sports Technical Director Lauren Correa-Sikoryak shares a lot of insight on what it takes behind the scenes during an NFL Sunday, but she also dives into what it took to get her foot in the door in regards to the TV industry, working with legendary sports talk show host, Mike Francesa, getting the opportunity to showcase her talent in the NFL for the Giants and Jets, then making her way to CBS to work on some of the biggest stages that sports has to offer, including the NCAA Tournament/Final Four and the Super Bowl. It’s an in-depth look behind the curtain that most sports fans rarely, if ever see. I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation from start to finish as you will hear Lauren’s excitement, personality and passion come right through your speakers or earbuds.

It’s a celebratory mood as it’s a new month, spring is drawing near and three years are in the books for The JAYREELZ Podcast as Episode 181 will be one to remember. On deck:

(4:54) Today marks the third anniversary of the podcast as I share some thoughts about it’s beginning, how it’s evolved, where it’s going and thanking most of all, you, the listener as we kickstart year number four!

(11:20) The NBA is about to head into the All-Star Weekend in Atlanta, but not without covering a few topics such as: Kyrie’s idea about what the new NBA logo should be. The Raptors dealing with COVID. Victor Oladipo’s market and future contract? Teams that are trending north in a competitive East. Same for the West. Will I watch the All-Star festivities come Sunday night?

(30:03) Baylor suffers its first loss of the college basketball season. Is this a blessing or a curse? What about Gonzaga as the last undefeated team in the nation? Is there a loss in their future? Plus, the rest of the college ball landscape as we’re getting closer to March Madness.

(38:38) With a condensed schedule featuring a ton of familiarity, has the NHL become tired with what seems to be the same matchups night after night? Is anyone watching? Why the NHL needs an Original Six team in the Finals for anyone to care? Also, the Artemi Panarin situation with the Rangers is one to keep an eye on moving forward!

(53:01) Tiger Woods is on the mend after a horrific car accident left the golf legend with severe leg injuries. What does his recovery look like? And will he make a return to the game at some point down the road?

(58:52) The MLB exhibition season has begun as there isn’t much to discuss, but there are some storylines that I’ll shed light on Albert Pujols retiring after this year? Miguel Cabrera’s quest for 500 HR’s & 3,000 hits. Is there anyone in the league now that can reach those milestones in the future? Shohei Ohtani flashing that power right arm. Domingo German’s mea culpa and quest to get back in the Yankees’ good graces.

(1:07:05) The ongoing saga of rumors surrounding Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson and if they’ll be moved this offseason. I have quite a bit to say about both guys that you won’t want to miss.

(1:12:17) And of course, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Former NFL Safety Tyrone Carter On Why He Chose Going To A Big 10 School, The Aftermath Of Losing The '00 NFC Title Game, Winning Two Super Bowls, Thoughts On The NFL & More

A mid-week podcast means that a special guest is on the way. And this one delivers nothing but the truth in a candid, raw and open conversation with yours truly that will pique your interest from start to finish.

Former two time All American at the University of Minnesota and 11 year NFL veteran (of the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers) safety Tyrone Carter joins me as he shares his deepest thoughts on a new transition of power in our nation, his biggest influence on his path to the NFL, the motivation for choosing the U. of Minn over another Big 10 school, the disappointment of losing the NFC Championship Game as a Viking in his rookie season to the New York Giants, the reason behind what went wrong in Minnesota, playing for the Steelers winning two Super Bowls, the difference between Coach Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin, the ferocity of the Ravens-Steelers rivalry, his viewpoint about the NFL, his health in relation to concussions, what he’s up to today and so much more! We cover all of that and then some during this almost 90 minute exchanged that will have you not only entertained, but you’ll learn quite a bit about the league, how professional franchises are run, the power of family and most of all, the man himself! I hope you enjoy this discussion as much as I did. It was an honor and pleasure connecting with this two time champion!

Nets Taking Over The East? Lake Tahoe Experiment Melts NHL, Questioning The Carson Wentz Trade, SD Offers Tatis Jr. 'Irresponsible' Contract. Is This It For Serena?/Aussie Open Recap

The final Monday and week of February delivers a bunch of hot topics, that yours truly, anticipates sinking his teeth into as Episode 179 is being served. On deck:

(4:57) The Brooklyn Nets have finally come together as they're playing their best basketball this season. Is this team primed to take over the East? Are they Finals bound? No Anthony Davis means no repeat title for the Lakers? Draymond Green's comments about players being held out for a possible trade/buyout? A challenge for the young Spurs as they deal with postponement of games due to COVID. LeBron James crosses another milestone. The Jazz continues it's dominant run. The Pelicans undergo two historic (one good, one bad) turnarounds in a 48 hour span. And the Celtics can’t get out of their own way as they’re mired in mediocrity.

(30:37) The NHL may be coming out on the other side of the coronavirus as the numbers are going down with players catching the virus, but the league cannot get a break as the Outdoor Games in Lake Tahoe over the weekend, didn’t live up to expectations due to Mother Nature. I’ll get into what went wrong, as well as, take a trip around the ice with the latest news.

(44:17) The Carson Wentz era is over in Philadelphia. I’ll share my thoughts on who benefits from this trade with the Colts and did Eagles ownership do the right thing in jettisoning their former #2 overall pick in 2016? Also, the sad and unfortunate death of former WR, Vincent Jackson.

(54:29) MLB camps are officially in swing as all players have reported to their respective teams. The big news out of last week is the signing of Padres SS Fernando Tatis Jr. and his blockbuster 340 million dollar deal. I’ll explain why the Padres were irresponsible in locking the budding superstar to not just an enormous amount of money, but the years that were given to him as well.

(1:06:41) We’re less than three weeks away from Selection Sunday in College Basketball. I’ll bring you up to speed on what’s going on in the college circuit, including Michigan’s outstanding road win at Ohio State.

(1:11:17) The Australian Open was ho-hum as the expected champions on both sides (Naomi Osaka and Novak Djokovic) did not disappoint. I’ll recap the first Grand Slam in Tennis and is Serena Williams ready to call it a career?

(1:14:40) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Sports Dead Zone! MLB Spring Training Is Here, AD & KD's Injury Status & Impact, NHL's COVID Calamity! Who's Responsible? Brady's SB Celebration. Aussie Open Update. A Disastrous Daytona 500!

It may be a holiday, but there’s no off day when it comes to sharing my thoughts, opinions and analysis as Episode 178 is set for consumption. On deck:

(4:10) With the NFL in our rearview mirror, the time has come for the first part of this years, Sports Dead Zone! I’ll explain.

(6:46) With pitchers and catchers reporting this weekend, baseball is in the air! I’ll discuss the astronomical Mets record projected by Baseball Prospectus, the rules heading into this year (no universal DH) Yadier Molina, Justin Turner and James Paxton round out the MLB rundown.

(17:23) The Association has a lot cooking. Including key injuries to Anthony Davis and Kevin Durant. How those injuries impact their team, for the short and long term of the season. Kyrie Irving’s ‘new’ point guard. James Harden’s weak apology to Houston. The Celtics are sinking. Is Andre Drummond the answer for their ills? Mark Cuban’s anthem blunder. Was it brought upon himself? Are the Suns to be taken seriously? Can the Jazz translate their success deep into the postseason?

(39:35) Why has the NHL bombed in handling their league when it comes to COVID? A commentary comparing them to the NBA that is inexplicable, yet plausible. The increase of physical play throughout the league excites yours truly, but with a bit of a caveat.

(52:00) Tom Brady’s Super Bowl celebration, Russell Wilson wants more protection and counsel when it comes to personnel, The Pouncey brothers retire. What does this mean for Ben Roethlisberger’s future? JJ Watt is a free agent. Is Pittsburgh a destination? Urban Meyer’s coaching hire fizzles and the latest with Richard Sherman.

(1:05:20) A quick trip around the college basketball landscape.

(1:06:33) An update from down under at the Australian Open.

(1:09:35) Kamaru Usman’s historic, yet bittersweet achievement highlights the MMA segment.

(1:12:33) An overall disastrous day for racing as the Daytona 500 had plenty of crashes, delays and a conclusion well after midnight.

(1:17:15) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Brady's GOAT Status, Tampa's 'D', KC's O-Line Implodes In Super Bust, Bauer's 'Soft Landing Spot' In LA. Are The Jazz For Real? NHL/NCAA Covid Chronicles. Who's Favored At Australian Open?

It wasn’t a Super Sunday, but I’ll have a Super Show for you, detailing the big game and everything surrounding the sports universe as Episode #177 is ready for consumption. On deck:

(4:03) The matchup we anticipated fell way short as Tampa Bay suffocated the Kansas City offense as Tom Brady wins yet another Super Bowl. I’ll ask the question, was this game all about the Buccaneers defense? Or how bad the offensive line was for the Chiefs? I’ll get into how this loss ties into the legacies of Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes? Is Tom Brady the GOAT as in best NFL player ever? The pre-game, halftime show and commercials as we put to bed the NFL season of 2020. I’ll also discuss the newest members of the football Hall of Fame, NFL awards, Carson Wentz wants out of Philadelphia? Jared Goff’s departure from LA. And an update on Deshaun Watson being traded from Houston.

(37:25) The Trevor Bauer sweepstakes goes to the LA Dodgers as they sign the free agent pitcher to a three year, 102 million dollar deal. Was this a soft landing for him? What about his prospects signing with the Mets? I have an interesting take on this and other baseball news, including the untimely death of Pedro Gomez, Dustin Pedroia’s retirement and more.

(44:15) The NBA has had a quiet week, but I’ll touch on the comments by De’Aaron Fox and LeBron James surrounding the upcoming All Star Game next month. Are the Utah Jazz to be taken seriously in the West?

(50:44) The top teams in the nation that are affected by the coronavirus in college basketball. Will these games be made up?

(53:19) Same for the NHL as more teams have to sit out due to the pandemic.

(56:14) Who are the favorites to win the first tennis major of the year at the Australian Open?

(59:27) I spend a moment discussing former boxer, Leon Spinks, as he passed away over the weekend.

(1:00:56) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Tampa's 'Real Shot' To Win SB LV/NFL Offseason Frenzy, NBA/NHL Scheduling Dilemma, Ovi's Return/Pens Last Cup Push? MLB Discord, Bauer To Mets? Arenado to STL For Who?

New day. New week. New month. It must mean a new podcast as I deliver ALL that’s happening in the world of sports as Episode 176 is served. On deck:

(3:59) Countdown to Super Bowl LV has begun, with a lead up into the big game. I’ll explain Tampa’s real shot to win based on only one theme. The Deshaun Watson standoff continues. Who is new Coach David Culley? Why not Eric Bieniemy? If I’m the Jets, why I WOULDN’T trade for Watson? The Matthew Stafford for Jared Goff deal. Wait! What? How many #1 picks is Stafford worth? The second retirement of Jason Witten. And what’s next for Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh?

(35:00) Both the NBA & NHL have a quandary when it comes to rescheduling postponed games on their schedule? What are the plans for both leagues to make up these games? I’ll take a look around the Association, including Lakers-Celtics, Nets-Wizards and more.

(45:24) Bringing you up to speed on the latest rankings in college basketball. Who’s trending north? South?

(46:59) I spend a minute on the NBA on discussions about a possible All Star Game in Atlanta come March. Really?

(56:06) Some MLB Hot Stove cooking as I delve into the MLB discord with the players on pushing the season up a month, the universal DH for expanded playoffs. Free agent signings (JT Realmuto & Didi Gregorius), trades (Steven Matz to Toronto, which opens up a possibility of the Mets bringing in Trevor Bauer. Two words: BUYER BEWARE! Also, the Nolan Arenado trade to St. Louis. FOR WHO?) The departure of Masahiro Tanaka and retirement of Daniel Murphy. The Hall of Fame committee vs. Curt Schilling. And Scott Rolen a Hall of Famer? SERIOUSLY?

(1:22:56) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

AFC/NFC Title Recap (Lafleur Inept/Rodgers Legacy, Brady Magic, Chiefs Reign) NBA Surprises & Disappointments, Henry Aaron & Hot Stove Cooking, NHL's COVID Impact, McGregor's Future

Set to close out the first month of the new year with nothing but passionate filled, fast paced sports talk, Episode 175 delivers the goods and then some. On deck:

(3:28) The main themes of the AFC/NFC Title Games are coach Matt Lafleur’s awful decision to kick a field goal as opposed to going for a potential tie. Brady’s magic carries him to a record 10th Super Bowl. The Bills not ready for primetime and business as usual for the Chiefs. I’ll go in-depth on both games, the storylines for Super Bowl LV, Tony Romo’s honeymoon is long over. CBS gets their Super Bowl matchup wish! Also, the latest on Deshaun Watson in Houston. Eric Bieniemy’s head coaching opportunity, what’s left of Matthew Stafford? Is Philip Rivers a Hall of Famer? Lots to dissect as the NFL season comes down to its final game.

(54:20) The NBA season is a month in as I’ll discuss the surprises and disappointments so far. Why I agree with Shaquille O’Neal regarding his comments directed at Jazz guard, Donovan Mitchell? And the Clippers psyche when it really matters are among the topics I’ll touch on.

(1:05:14) An update on college basketball as Michigan will be suspended athletics due to a new coronavirus strain. Kansas loses three straight games for the first time in eight years and the latest on former powerhouses Duke, North Carolina and Kentucky.

(1:08:55) Remembering the life of the immortal Henry Aaron and Don Sutton. There’s been some hot stove activity as I’ll express my thoughts on George Springer going to Toronto, the Yankees bolstering their starting rotation and why the Mets not getting Brad Hand for their bullpen didn’t have me up in arms?

(1:21:41) The NHL dealing with COVID as the Hurricanes and Capitals deal with not either playing or having their big stars (i.e. Alex Ovechkin) in the lineup for the next week or so.

(1:25:34) Conor McGregor loses in his return to the Octagon. What lies ahead for the embattled fighter? And why did he retire in the first place?

(1:29:36) Lastly, my Hero and Zero of the Week.
