Yankees Pivotal Game 2 A Must? Can SD Win Two In Philly As AL & NLCS Is Underway. Top Teams On Byes Lead To Weak NFL Week 7. Pelicans Show Out, Suns Show Up & Celtics New Coach Highlight NBA

The little engine that could keeps on steaming down the track as your little podcast host continues to pump out the passion, fire, energy and fury on all that's happening in the sports world. On deck:

(3:28) We're into the Championship Series in the MLB where the Astros drew first blood in Game 1 against the Yankees. How imperative is it for the Bombers to win Game 2 if they have any chance to punch their ticket to the World Series? Also, the Padres get even as the scene shifts to Philadelphia over the weekend where the series is tied at 1-1. I'll look into my crystal ball to see what could possibly happen over the next three days as we await to see who'll come out of each league and represent in the Fall Classic?

(20:57) NFL Week 7 is looking pretty light, as evidenced by three of the top teams in the league to date (Buffalo, Minnesota and Philadelphia) all on byes this week. I'll take a look at what's on the football table to see if there is anything appetizing in prime time, at 1:00pm or 4:25pm as we inch closer to the halfway point of the season.

(26:17) The same can be said for Week 8 in college football as there isn't much to write home about (does Syracuse-Clemson tickle your fancy?) I'll go over what may be worth watching and what isn't?

(29:17) The NBA fan can rejoice as the season is underway. I'll get into a couple of storylines of the first two nights (LeBron lashing out some truths at his teammates in a loss against Golden State, Zion & the Pelicans handle the Nets, Phoenix exacting some revenge against Dallas) and how the Celtics interim coach, Joe Mazzulla will navigate a team that went to the Finals last year, how he'll fare this year and when the true test will be for the first time head coach?

(40:21) I can't forget the hockey fan as the NHL is now nine days into their campaign. I'll take a trip around the ice to see what has transpired over the first three or four games and a surprise last place team that no one was coming.

Dodgers/Braves Bow Out Meekly, Astros Win In '4'? Yanks-Guardians GM 5 Headline MLB! Eagles Path To NFC's #1 Seed A Lock? Bama Loss Adds Wrinkle To Playoff? 10 Teams Could Win NBA Title: A Preview

The sports fan rejoices as we're in the middle of a busy time in the calendar as there are lots to divulge, dive into and dissect as yours truly will break it all down over the next hour plus. On deck:

(3:44) It was another wild weekend of baseball as three of the Division Series have concluded. The two big stories were the 111 regular season winning Dodgers quietly exiting out of the postseason, to go along with the NL East champion Braves in four games to the Padres and Phillies, respectively. I'll share some critique as to how high the expectations were and how much both teams fell short, while highlighting the surging NLCS teams and who'll represent the National League in the World Series. As for the American League, the Astros beat the Mariners in 'four games', considering they won a Game 3 in a sweep that took 18 innings to complete. Then, there are the Yankees and Guardians as they'll play in a do or die Game 5 at Yankee Stadium tonight to get to the ALCS. I'll have a prediction and a scenario for either team if they face off against the Astros as to who'll come out of the AL. I'll spend a moment on the passing of Hall of Fame closer, Bruce Sutter, who died at the age of 69 late last week.

(21:29) As crazy the city of Philadelphia is over their baseball team, the football team has been perfect so far in 2022. Currently 6-0, the Eagles have been the class of the NFC to date. Even with the Giants breathing down their necks in the division and have already beaten the 5-1 Vikings this year, is it possible with an easy schedule that they have a clear path to the #1 seed in the conference? I'll recap Week 6 with my winners (Buffalo, Atlanta) and losers (Green Bay. Don't worry Jet fans, I got you & Cleveland) as I go through yesterday's slate of games.

(40:17) Alabama falls out of the top four after a wild, high scoring affair in Knoxville vs. Tennessee. I'll have an early take as to what this loss for the Crimson Tide could mean for the college football playoff at the end of the year. Is Alabama done? Do they control their own destiny? I'll also take a look at USC's tough loss in the closing seconds. Oklahoma State drops out of the top 10 losing to TCU and Michigan keeps on trucking after they dismantled Penn State.

(50:02) The NBA season is upon us as it tips off tomorrow night. I'll have all of the intriguing storylines heading into the campaign. I'll breakdown each division, predict my over/under win totals for the year and who'll be in the NBA Finals in June and come out on top. NOTE: My Finals prediction comes during my wrap up segment at the end of the podcast.

Phils/Pads Eye Upsets? Can The Guardians Score? Mariners Rebound In AL/NLDS Recap. Snyder's 'Dirt' On Other NFL Owners/BUF-KC Headline Week 6. 'Bama Holds Cards To CF Playoff. Draymond: No Suspension?

Join me in celebrating another milestone as the podcast has reached its 300th episode! I'll be sure to provide plenty of fireworks to go along with the confetti and noisemakers as I peruse through the sports landscape! On deck:

(3:29) MLB is onto the Division Series as both leagues are in full swing. The Phillies were unable to take a commanding 2-0 series lead as the scene shifts to Philadelphia for Games 3 & 4, tied at one apiece. How important is Game 3 for the Phillies to upset the defending World Champs? As for the Padres-Dodgers, San Diego was able to get the equalizer after losing Game 1, now that the series goes down the turnpike to Petco Park. In the AL, it's simple. Can the Guardians muster up any offense vs. the Yankees lineup? And can the Mariners rebound from a gut punch defeat as they lost in walk-off fashion to the Astros in Game 1? Also, has the six day layoff hurt or helped the bye teams heading into the Division Series?

(21:01) Recent reports out of Washington, DC has alleged that Commanders owner, Daniel Snyder, has hired private investigators from a law firm to dig up 'dirt' on other owners in the league. Whether true or false, is it time for the NFL to step in and get rid of Snyder? I'll look at why the league needs to nip these recent insane roughing the passer penalties in the bud ASAP? There's a huge showdown on the Week 6 schedule in Kansas City as the Bills will invade Arrowhead in an important matchup that could decide home field in the AFC. Which team does it mean the most to come Sunday afternoon? Plus, Dallas at Philadelphia (Why Dak Prescott should NOT return for this game?) and the rest of this weekends' slate.

(37:14) A meaningful Saturday for the college football playoff looms large as #10 Penn State visits #5 Michigan. Even bigger is #3 Alabama going to #8 Tennessee to play the Volunteers with or without their Heisman Trophy winning QB in Bryce Young. What a Crimson Tide loss could do to upset the balance of the discussion surrounding the college football playoff?

(42:07) The NBA season is forthcoming. I'll get into a few of the over/under win totals for the year. I'll put to bed the latest on the Draymond Green incident with Jordan Poole. Could there be any carryover into the early part of the regular season as they defend their title?

(46:31) The NHL has dropped the puck on a new campaign as the Rangers are off and flying with a win over the Lightning, while the Avalanche raise their championship banner to the rafters, receiving their rings in the process that look like it came out of a Steven Spielberg movie.

MLB Wild Card Recap As Mets Bamboozle Fans. Division Series Storylines & Preview. A 'Giant' Win In Low Key NFL Week 5. Bama Wins But Drop In Rankings. '22 NHL Preview

As the podcast creeps closer to another major milestone this week, there's lots to dissect as the sports world continues to offer aplenty for those who follow on a day to day basis. On deck:

(3:01) The MLB Wild Card weekend is in the books. Saturday's Game 2's (Guardians walk off in 15 innings with the only run of the game, Mariners comeback from 7 run deficit, Phillies blank Cards amid some late rallies by St. Louis) were thrilling and unexpected, to say the least. Of course, there are the Mets (starting at 10:13) who flopped in a decisive Game 3 vs. San Diego. You know I'll put to rest the 2022 version of this god forsaken baseball team as I have a message for the Met fan. I'll get into the top storylines of the Division Series and preview the four series to see who'll play on to the championship series in each league.

(35:07) We're five weeks into the NFL season, and to yours truly, I feel that it's been underwhelming to date. I'll share my winners (i.e. Giants, Texans) and losers (i.e. Rams and a combination of Lions, Panthers, Commanders & Steelers) I'll take a look at the landscape of the not so good Week 5 schedule and the concussion protocol gets a facelift due to the fallout of Tua Tagovailoa's injury a couple of weeks back.

(51:43) Alabama may have sweated out a victory vs. Texas A&M, but they dropped not one, but two spots in the rankings as both Georgia and Ohio State leapfrog the Crimson Tide in the latest polls. Also, do we have to take notice of what's going on in Southern California? No. Not USC, but UCLA as the Bruins beat the Utes to move closer to the top 10.

(54:24) A new NHL campaign is here as the season started on Friday (in Czech Republic) but begins in earnest tomorrow night with the Lightning playing the Rangers at MSG. I'll divulge what the major storylines are for the 2022-23 season, I'll preview the league, go through the divisions, share my over/under point totals for the first time ever on the podcast and who'll play in the Stanley Cup Final come June next year.

Mets, Cardinals Headline Wild Card Storylines & Predictions. NFL Week 5 Schedule. Not So Thrilling College Saturday. Draymond Packs A Punch In Camp. NHL Over/Under Review

The weather is getting cooler, the days shorter but the sports talk is always a steady constant as I deliver the latest podcast for your edification. On deck:

(3:00) The time has come. The MLB postseason is just about here. It's the eve of the wild card weekend as I'll preview the four series (TB-CLE, PHI-STL, SEA-TOR & SD-NYM) look at the top storylines (Oh! The Mets are one of them, of course!) and predict who'll move on to the Division Series next week? I'll revise my World Series pick, go through my over/under win totals for the year and some manager news in Chicago (White Sox) Anaheim and KC to close out the baseball segment.

(31:40) NFL Week 5 is upon us. I'll recap the Rams rough loss in San Francisco on Monday night and the possibility of it being a long year for the Super Bowl Champions. I'll peek at the upcoming schedule this Sunday. It doesn't seem to be a thrilling slate with the Cowboys-Rams and Bengals-Ravens being the top games of the week.

(38:31) College football this Saturday doesn't have the same appeal as last week. One game to keep an eye on is Tennessee playing at LSU, which is a big test for the Volunteers, but even bigger for LSU coach, Brian Kelly. Texas A&M's Jimbo Fisher will compete against Nick Saban in Alabama Saturday night after feuding this past summer over recruiting. Will they be cordial? Or could there be a chance Saban runs up the score?

(42:16) The NBA preseason is in full swing. Draymond Green is in the news as he punches fellow teammate, Jordan Poole during practice. Is this something that we'll have to keep an eye on with the defending champs? And an NBA team in Vegas? LeBron James would like to see it. Is it a possibility?

(45:21) Then there's the NHL as the season will begin tomorrow in Prague, Czech Republic between the Sharks-Predators. I'll go through the over/under point totals as I'll choose six of them on Monday's podcast. And give kudos to the Islanders signing Mathew Barzal to a long term contract.

Mets Shrink As Braves Wrestle NL East. Who's To Blame? Tua's Health, Another Raven Collapse Highlight NFL Week 4. No Bryce Young, No Problem. Bama Back at #1. NBA Signings Of Note

October is here! There are plenty of sports topics to dive into so let's take the plunge as I deliver top flight analysis and opinions dripping with passion, energy and fire. On deck:

(3:02) The Mets stick it to their legion of fans (including yours truly) yet again, as they get swept in Atlanta over the weekend. In the process, they hand over the NL East, where they've led all but three days the entire season. I'll go through the carnage of a lost weekend in the ATL. Why did they tinker with the rotation? What this probably means for the Mets moving forward as they come down to the final three games of the regular season. I'll also get into the NL Wild Card race, Aaron Judge's quest for 62 and Albert Pujols continues to tack on to his 700 home run total.

(29:11) NFL Week 4 was relatively quiet. Not a lot of exciting games or outcomes that we can get into. I'll share my winners (Las Vegas & Tennessee) and losers (Miami's medical staff/NFL on how they handled Tua Tagovailoa's health & Baltimore) Plus, I'll survey the league and go through what took place yesterday. Also, has the Kenny Pickett era begun in Pittsburgh as he injected some life into the offense, but made a key mistake in their loss to the Jets.

(51:42) College football had a very interesting Saturday as Georgia staves off their first loss at Missouri. They do lose their spot as the #1 team in the nation. Alabama leapfrogs over the Bulldogs with a win at Arkansas. The big story is the health of the right shoulder of Heisman Trophy QB, Bryce Young. How will that play out for the rest of the season will be one to watch? You had some tough losses for Kentucky, Texas A&M, Baylor and Oklahoma as they drop in the Top 25 while Oklahoma St, Tennesse and Ole Miss move up.

(56:11) The NHL season begins this Friday in Prague, Czech Republic between the Sharks-Predators. I'll delve into my over/under point totals for the upcoming season next Monday. And a key injury to the Maple Leafs as they look to rebound from last years disappointing first round exit in the playoffs.

(59:22) A few quick notes from the NBA (Heat extend Tyler Herro, Celtics sign Blake Griffin and some crude dialogue is what did in Celtic coach, Ime Udoka as he was suspended for the year).

Judge Matches Maris. Late Mets Magic Takes Back NL East. NFL Week 4 Review. Intriguing College Saturday Schedule. NBA Training Camp Storylines. NHL Season Looming

Arguably the best sports month is on the horizon and so is the latest edition of the podcast as I deliver all of the goods on what the landscape has to offer. On deck:

(5:45) After I explain why October is one of the best sports months of the year and a brief rundown of what to expect on the podcast, I get into history being made in Toronto as Aaron Judge has tied Roger Maris for the all time Yankee and American League single season home run record. Is the pressure off now that he's tied the record? Will he surpass Roger Maris on the final homestand over the weekend? Then, there are the Mets. Looking listless as they were about to get swept by the Marlins, down 4-0 in the bottom of the 7th, they came roaring back to win 5-4 in 10 innings to re-take the NL East lead over the Braves. Now they head to Atlanta with the division on the line as they'll go head to head with their rivals to see who'll have the leg up to get a bye in the first round of the postseason. I'll discuss the AL wild card race (not much happening) and the NL (lots happening) as Milwaukee may have the inside track with an easy schedule down the stretch to sneak into October, while the Phillies have all road games the rest of the way, including three down in Houston to close out the regular season.

(24:50) With just about a quarter into the NFL season, the Week 4 schedule has a few good games. We have a good start to the weekend with Miami visiting Cincinnati in the Thursday night game. But the big one is Sunday night in Tampa (or not, due to Hurricane Ian) where the Buccaneers will host the Chiefs. There's a possibility that the game could be moved to Minneapolis because of what the storm may do to that part of the city. How a different locale to this Super Bowl rematch could end up being a disappointment for the viewer at home? Plus, the rest of the schedule including the first game in London between the Vikings and Saints and why I'm not a fan of those games?

(34:51) There are a few interesting college football games on the docket this week. Michigan-Iowa is one to keep an eye on. Same for Alabama-Arkansas. Even Oklahoma St.-Baylor, Kentucky-Ole Miss and can NC State hang tight with Clemson on Saturday night as two teams in the top 10 go at it?

(38:56) Training camps have opened up throughout the NBA. I'll share some early thoughts on the reunion in Brooklyn with Steve Nash & Kevin Durant, the Ben Simmons factor on this Nets team. Is there a rift between Suns coach Monty Williams and center DeAndre Ayton? Could this be a breakout season for Zion Williamson and the Pelicans? Bulls guard Lonzo Ball is facing another surgery to his already surgically repaired knee. How that will bode well for him and his teams fortune this upcoming season?

(46:16) And the NHL preseason has begun as the regular season will begin next Friday in Prague, between the Predators and Sharks, with October 11th being Opening Night for the 2022-23 campaign.

Pujols Joins 700 Club! Judge Stuck On 60! Mets-Braves Armageddon! NFL Week 3 Snorefest Despite Wins By JAX, MIA & IND. New Blood In College Top 10. Udoka Suspended! Termination On Deck?

We're just days away from a new month and approaching the final quarter of 2022. Before we get there, here's the first of two podcasts this week to bring you all of the goods as far as what the sports world has in store. On deck:

(5:30) MLB is in the homestretch as we're just nine days away from the conclusion of the season. I begin by acknowledging the achievement of Albert Pujols as he is the fourth player in baseball history to hit 700 home runs. We're still waiting on Aaron Judge to match the AL & Yankee team record of 61 as he was unable to hit one out of the park over his last five games. Is the pressure starting to mount for the future league MVP? The Guardians clinch the AL Central for the first time since 2019. Can they be a sleeper this postseason? The Mets and Braves are gearing up for a big series that will determine who'll win the NL East. I'll talk about who they'll play leading up to Friday's armageddon. And I'll have an up to the minute assessment on the AL/NL wild card mix as we get closer to October baseball.

(22:08) NFL Week 3 was nothing much to write home about although you had a couple of surprises, which lead into the weeks winners (i.e. Colts & Eagles) and losers (i.e. Chargers & Buccaneers) You had a defensive struggle but an eyesore of a Sunday night game between the 49ers and Broncos. The Dolphins win a big game vs. the Bills. The Raiders are the only 0-3 team in football. And when will the Steelers see Kenny Pickett starting in place of Mitch Trubisky? We can say goodbye to the Pro Bowl, but now we have to deal with The Pro Bowl Games? And worse, a flag football Pro Bowl? And who is your halftime performer for Super Bowl LVII? It's one that a lot of people will be anticipating, that's for sure.

(45:12) College football has some more turnover in the top 10 as both #6 Oklahoma and #10 Arkansas both drop out with key losses. Clemson survived with a double overtime win at Wake Forest, but what about their defense moving forward? Also, what teams are laying in the weeds that could be part of the discussion for the college football playoff just a month into their season?

(51:17) Disgraced Celtics coach, Ime Udoka, has been suspended for a year due to violating an organizational policy for engaging in a relationship with a staff member. There actually may be more to the story than just that. If so, should Udoka be terminated?

Aaron Judge's 60 & Beyond? What About October & Free Agency? Bills Bandwagon/NFL Week 3. Avs' MacKinnon Gets Paid. Suns Sarver To Sell Team. C's Udoka Facing Year Suspension?

Autumn has arrived. Right around the corner, we'll usher in the fall and winter sports as they'll slowly enter our sports consciousness. I have plenty to dissect and divulge on the latest edition of the podcast. On deck:

(5:00) After a brief outline of what to expect on the podcast, I dive right into the Aaron Judge home run milestone chase as he sits as 60, just one away from tying Roger Maris on the Yankee and American League single season record. But there's an even bigger question to ask as the postseason looms. Will his performance in October dictate his worth and what he'll get on the free agent market? Then there's the NL East battle that'll come down to the wire between the Mets & Braves as armageddon awaits. I'll discuss Max Scherzer being pulled after six perfect innings. Was it the right move? The Guardians are on the cusp of winning a division and the rest of the wild card pennant chase as we're less than two weeks away from concluding the regular season.

(22:14) NFL Week 3 is here. I'll share my thoughts on everyone jumping on the Bills bandwagon after the first two games of the young season. Mitchell Trubisky has a huge game in store tonight when the Steelers visit the Browns in Cleveland. I'll go through the schedule and get into the first year honorees for the Hall of Fame as Darrelle Revis, Dwight Freeney, Joe Thomas and others headline the Class of 2023.

(32:26) I'll peek at the upcoming Week 4 schedule in college football. Doesn't look to be appealing, but could more upsets be in store?

(35:37) Training camps throughout the NHL open up today. Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon coming off of a Stanley Cup victory is now the highest paid player in the league on an annual average. There were a couple of defensemen who have retired in the sport (i.e. PK Subban and Zdeno Chara) as I give them a nice sendoff.

(39:50) Suns owner Robert Sarver has announced that he's going to sell the team in the midst of a year suspension and fine for inappropriate behavior in the workplace. In a shocking development, Celtics coach Ime Udoka is facing a suspension himself for violating the teams policy engaging in a relationship within the organization. It's possible that he may face a whole season having to sit out. Is it too harsh of a penalty?

Guardians In Control, Mets-Braves NL East Rockfight. Judge/Pujols Chasing Milestones. Unlikely NFL Road Comebacks Lead Week 2. Ho-Hum College Saturday. Canelo Tops GGG. Federer Calls It Quits

As summer starts to wind down, I’m just getting started on plenty that’s happening in the sports world as you’ll get my takes, analysis and opinions on all of it. On deck:

(4:45) The MLB season has come into the home stretch. The Guardians have control over the AL Central. They can really put a stranglehold in the division as the Twins and White Sox are on the schedule this week. The NL East will come down to its final games. The Mets now go to Milwaukee after a four game sweep over the Pirates, while the Braves come off of a sweep themselves at the hands of the Phillies and have the lowly Nationals come into Atlanta this week. Will the Mets still be in first place come Thursday? I'll peek at what's happening in the AL & Wild Card race, as well as, another race to some major milestones. Both Aaron Judge and Albert Pujols are two home runs away from tying the AL HR mark (and Yankees too) set by Roger Maris and 700 HR's for a career respectively.

(18:03) There were some remarkable comebacks by three road teams in the NFL yesterday that highlight the winners & losers segment of Week 2. The Dolphins and Jets headline the winners as they come back from a 21 point fourth quarter deficit and a 13 point deficit with less than two minutes to go respectively. As for the Colts (who were shutout at Jacksonville) and Raiders, who coughed up a 20-0 halftime lead in a 29-23 overtime loss to Arizona at home, they were clearly the losers of the week. I know the Niner fan is happy that Jimmy Garoppolo is now the starting quarterback after Trey Lance suffered a season ending broken ankle. Why luck prevailed, sadly to injury, for the Niners to still have a big season? But remember, he was pretty much discarded like yesterday's newspaper. I'll recap the rest of the schedule as we wrap up the week with a doubleheader tonight (TEN-BUF, MIN-PHI).

(39:27) Week 3 in college football was rather ho-hum, although you had a couple of good bounce back wins as Oregon and Texas A&M rebound from early season defeats. Could they still be part of the college football playoff discussion?

(42:59) Canelo Alvarez unanimously defeats Gennady Golovkin to retain the super middleweight title this past Saturday. Did it live up to the pre-fight hype?

(44:59) Roger Federer calls is a career as he retires from the sport of tennis. I'll take a look back on his illustrious career and where does he rank all time, especially with his contemporaries Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, with whom he battled against for several years.

Mets Struggling To Stay Atop NL East. Guardians Can Wrap Up Division? LAC-KC, TB-NO Highlight NFL Week 2. A Snoozefest College Football Saturday. Suns Owner Sarver Suspended? Was It Too Light?

The middle of September is here, which means it's the final week of summer! Not to frown, because it's the beginning of another fast paced, sports podcast party as I share all that's going on in the stratosphere. On deck:

(4:28) What has happened to the Mets recently? Not only have they stopped hitting, but they're letting bad teams (i.e. Cubs) come into their building and sweeping them! They still hold a slim margin in the division, but this frustrated and angry fan will go in on them wondering if they're feeling the effects of a long season and are crawling to the finish line. The Guardians are on the cusp of winning the AL Central. It is all in front of them over the next eight days as they'll play the White Sox and Twins. Also, Aaron Judge's quest for 61 as he hit two more home runs the other night vs. Boston. You'll be brought up to speed on the Wild Card races in the AL & NL as we're less than three weeks from the season concluding.

(24:58) The Chargers head into Arrowhead Stadium to face the Chiefs highlight a so-so Week 2 schedule in the NFL. I'll also take a look at Buccaneers at Saints. An overrated Bears-Packers rivalry. Not just one, but two Monday night games and they overlap one another! I'll explain my distaste for this particular format and how the rest of the slate shapes up this weekend.

(33:02) Week 3 in college football is pretty much weak sauce schedule wise. I miss psuedo-marquee ESPN Thursday night game, which used to have good matchups a decade and a half ago as you ease yourself into Saturday. Why that's no longer the case?

(36:20) Phoenix Suns owner, Robert Sarver was suspended by the NBA for a year and fined ten million dollars. Was the punishment light? Should he have been suspended? And what about the NFL's dealing with Daniel Snyder? Why hasn't The Shield done anything with the disgraced Washington Commanders owner?

NFL Week 1 In Midseason Form Highlights Winners (NO, NYG) & Losers (CIN, SF). ND Leads Shocking College Upsets. MLB Division Leaders In Control? Pujols's 700 Quest! Alcaraz Arrives With Open Win!

Taking you through the sports galaxy, I will navigate all that’s happening as this ride will surely be a fun one. On deck:

(4:41) NFL Week 1 was in mid-season form, but there was plenty of sloppy play as teams were shaking off the cobwebs as most of the front line starters were getting their first taste of action this year. I'll discuss my winners (i.e. New Orleans & NY Giants) losers (i.e. Cincinnati & San Francisco) and go through the slate of games that kicked off the 2022 campaign.

(35:34) College football had a quiet week for the most part, but it was Upset Central for the likes of the sports biggest programs in Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Nebraska. Even Alabama had a big scare against the Longhorns in Texas, but got out of dodge with a last second field goal to win 20-19.

(40:51) The pennant races in baseball have cooled off a little bit if you're in New York (Mets & Yankees) and Cleveland (Guardians) as there is a little breathing room among the NL East, AL East and AL Central leading teams. I'll also touch in on the latest Wild Card race as the Orioles look to be done as they've fallen off a bit down the stretch. And how about Albert Pujols? He's now three home runs away from 700. Let's just hope the sports media and news cycles are paying attention!

(50:23) The US Open concluded the Grand Slam tournaments for 2022 in fine fashion as 19 year old star, Carlos Alcaraz, not only wins the men's side of the Open, but is ranked #1 in the world because of it. Was it an all-time Open performance? I also give props to Iga Swiatek who won on the women's side as she claimed her second Slam win this year and third overall.

A Top Heavy NFC & Wide Open AFC Leads The NFL 2022 Preview! Mets Hold Onto NL East Lead. Orioles Wild Card On Life Support? Alcaraz's Epic US Open Win. Westbrook-Beverley: Built To Last?

A brand new season on the gridiron begins and plenty of other sports stories to dive into as we get ready for a third podcast this week, detailing all of the latest. On deck:

(5:20) The NFL is back! I'll preview the upcoming season, dissect the major storylines, breakdown the divisions, my predictions for over/under win totals, a knockout pick, take a look at the Week 1 schedule, and of course, my Super Bowl pick as we raise the curtain on the 2022 campaign. I'll also peek at the Week 2 college football schedule, which is a rather quiet one at first glance.

(46:47) Some intensity has surprisingly seeped into the pennant races as the Mets were caught by the Braves, but not surpassed after a must doubleheader sweep at the hands of the Pirates. The Orioles wild card chances look to be on life support after losing three out of four to the Blue Jays. The Yankees have found their tonic (i.e. the Twins) as Aaron Judge continues his torrid home run pace. The president of the Bombers, Randy Levine, has called Judge "an all-time Yankee". What does this mean as his impending free agency will be the talk of the town once a champion is crowned?

(52:56) An epic five set, five hour and fifteen minute match that lasted until 2:50am in which Carlos Alcaraz advances in the US Open. Will he have enough tank in the gas to beat an American upstart in Frances Tiafoe? As for the women's side, Iga Swiatek looks to have an inside track on winning her second major of the year. Or will she be upset along the way?

(56:16) Lakers guards Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley are in the honeymoon phase in Los Angeles as both players have mended fences after their long standing feud on the court. Will this continue to last?

Guardians, Mets, Yanks Clinging To Division Leads. Serena's Final Bow. Or Not? College Football Wild First Weekend & Playoff Expansion. NFL Over/Unders. D. Mitchell To Cavs: A Contender In East?

I'm revved up and ready to go as I deliver a full docket of sports analysis as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(6:28) After a birthday shout out to my brother and a brief description of what to expect on the podcast, I go in on the division races in baseball that all of a sudden has some teeth to it. The Guardians are hanging for dear life in an AL Central that has the Twins and White Sox nipping at their heels. The Mets are now one game ahead of the Braves in the NL East. What would it mean for the psyche if the do blow this lead? Then, there's the Yankees. Is it possible that they could choke the AL East away? What about the status of the manager, Aaron Boone if they don't get to an ALCS? I'll bring you up to date on all that's happening with the pennant races. I'll even take a peek at my over/under numbers to see where I'm at as we're a month away from the season concluding. And Albert Pujols is five home runs away from 700 for his career. What the sports media needs to do if he does achieve this before the season is complete?

(34:23) Serena Williams fought hard, but bowed out of the third round of the US Open in all likelihood, concluding her tennis career. Or not? I'll explain why she should walk away. I'll get into who's left on the women's side of the draw, Nick Kyrgios's upset of top seed, Daniil Medvedev and which men could be the last two standing as we get closer to the end of the final Grand Slam of the year.

(41:32) College football is back as I'll highlight the big games over the weekend. (i.e. Georgia pounding Oregon, Ohio St. prevailing over the Fighting Irish. Utah couldn't seal the deal vs. Florida) And a wild ending between Florida St. and LSU. In bigger news, the College Football playoff will take place. They're targeting 2026, but it could happen as early as 2024. It's long overdue, but I do have one caveat that needs to be addressed as we're still a couple of years before this is introduced into our consciousness.

(51:07) With the NFL starting on Thursday, I'll throw out a few over/under numbers at you before I make my selections on the next podcast. There is one that has me a bit perplexed. Will I take this one team as an under?

(54:39) Donovan Mitchell is on the move as he goes to the Cavaliers. Does this make a young core with Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley a threat in the Eastern Conference? And what about the Knicks, who were rumored to get Mitchell? Another disgraceful attempt by a team at the top of the organization which is not only silent, but faceless, among other things. I'll also discuss the severity of Celtics Danilo Gallinari's knee injury that he suffered a week and a half ago. Plus, Bulls guard, Lonzo Ball looks like he'll miss the start of the regular season after surgery that took place in January!

Dodgers-Mets Showdown. Judge/Pujols Chasing HR Milestones. Yanks: AL East Slipping? Serena Survives. A Top Heavy College Football Preview. Gruden's Shameful Speech. John Wall's Recovery

As we finally get out of the Sports Dead Zone, Pt. 2, I've got plenty to get into as we can say 'hallelujah' and embrace a new month as we turn the calendar to September. On deck:

(5:36) After a brief rundown, I'll get into how thrilling the Dodgers-Mets series has been so far. Is this an NLCS preview? Aaron Judge and Albert Pujols are within distance of some historic home run milestones (61 & 700, respectively) The sport needs to be on top of this and celebrate it as it's become an afterthought with college football and the NFL back in our consciousness. Are the Yankees in the process of choking away an insurmountable lead in the AL East? The status of Justin Verlander's right calf. White Sox manager Tony LaRussa is out indefinitely due to health issues.

(23:32) Serena Williams wins her second round match at the US Open in three sets, which begs the question? Will this propel her to a long tournament run? Or did she leave it all out on the court to where she won't make it out of the weekend? On the men's side, the expected top players are still around (i.e. Nadal, Medvedev, etc.) Nick Kyrgios is trying to make it back to back Grand Slam finals runs. Can he do so?

(29:33) College football is back! I'll have a top heavy preview of the few (and likely) teams that will possibly be in the National Championship Game. And if any Cinderella teams (i.e. Cincinnati last year) has a shot to make it to the playoff on New Year's Eve? I'll take a look at three of the bigger matchups over the holiday weekend that could impact the race for the College Football Playoff.

(39:47) The NFL season starts a week from tonight. But my focus isn't on that at the moment. One thing I want to get off of my chest is former Raider coach Jon Gruden's shameful speech as he is shooting his shot to get back into football. I'm far from the morality police, but there are a few things that need to be said in light of his lame comments at the Little Rock Touchdown Club a couple of days ago that you won't want to miss. Also, Jimmy Garoppolo stays by the bay as he'll suit up for the 49ers as a backup this season. Why that could potentially cause a huge quarterback controversy down the road?

(49:52) LA Clippers guard John Wall revealed that he had contemplated suicide recently because of dealing with the loss of family members and his own physical health, as he's been out of the lineup the past couple of years. I bring this up to shed light that even with the status, big contracts and lifestyle, they are human beings at the end of the day.

(52:57) Cameron Smith, the #2 golfer in the world, transitions to the LIV Golf League. Was it a big surprise? Was this the worst kept secret in the sport?

Verlander To IL? Chapman's Tattoo, J-Rod's Huge Payday & Pennant Races Headline MLB. Serena's Last Hurrah As US Open Begins. Not So Good NFL News As Preseason Ends. Key NBA Injuries

Into the homestretch of this Sports Dead Zone as September is on the horizon. I've got all of the latest news and storylines that the sports world has to offer as the latest edition of the pod is ready for consumption. On deck:

(5:19) Some interesting storylines have taken place in baseball over the past few days. Astros ace Justin Verlander suffered a calf injury as he had to leave his start early in yesterday afternoon's game vs. Baltimore. Without a prognosis as of this recording, could this be a serious blow for a team trying to get back to another World Series? Or is this a minor speed bump en route to the Division Series where he'll be raring to go come Game 1? Yankees reliever Aroldis Chapman had to be put on the IL for an infection on his leg stemming from a tattoo. How this'll fare as he regains his confidence in himself and the manager as they gear up for September and beyond? Mariners prized rookie Julio Rodriguez secures a fat contract as he can make up to $470 million dollars over the next 14 years, with $210 million guaranteed. Baseball continues its trajectory of giving the young talent (i.e. Fernando Tatis, Jr. & Wander Franco) big time money without hesitation. I'll see where we're at as far as the wild card and division races are concerned, including a possible NLCS preview as the Dodgers will visit the Mets at Citi Field this week. I'll also share my thoughts on the Mets Old Timers Day festivities on Saturday, which was executed beautifully. Why wasn't this done sooner? The connection (or lack thereof, by the previous ownership) and the retirement of #24 in honor of Willie Mays.

(34:47) The final Grand Slam of the tennis year begins today at Flushing Meadow where the big headlines heading into this tournament is Serena Williams's last hurrah. Will she be able to win a round? Two? Get to next week? Who'll win on the women's side? What about the men's side? Can Nick Kyrgios get to and win his first major championship? Can Rafael Nadal win his 23rd Grand Slam? Where is Novak Djokovic? Lots of questions to be answered and I'll handicap what to expect here over the next two weeks.

(43:30) The NFL preseason has concluded, but some news off the field has garnered attention (Rams-Bengals scrimmage melee and the Bills releasing punter Matt Araiza on implications of a civil lawsuit stemming from a gang rape of an underage women with two other men) as we get ready for the new season to kick off in ten days.

(46:48) In the NBA, Chet Holmgren will be out for the year with a foot injury suffered in a Pro-Am game over the weekend. Then Danilo Gallinari came up lame while on a fast break as he tore his meniscus in a FIBA World Cup qualifying game. How big are these injuries in the grand scheme of things?

(49:32) Rory McIlroy wins his third FedEx Cup, but did anyone watch? Did anyone really care? Was it important for the sport considering it's not a major tournament? And what does this mean for golfers who may jump over to the LIV Golf League?

No September Pennant Race Drama? A Jumbled 2023 MLB Schedule. Dana White's Tom Brady Story Is Two Years Late! KD On Board In Brooklyn. What About Kyrie? Islanders Offseason Ineptitude

The final week of the month has arrived and so has the latest edition as there are some interesting storylines percolating in the sports world. On deck:

(5:11) The pennant races in baseball may not have a lot of drama heading into September as I recap the division and wild card chase to date. The Yankees look to get out of a six week malaise with a trip to Oakland and Anaheim upcoming as they've won three in a row. The Mets have the Braves breathing down their neck in the only race worth noting. Should there be concern if Atlanta overtakes the NL East at some point? Why did the Mets skip Jacob deGrom's start vs. the Yankees. I'll also discuss the apology by Fernando Tatis Jr. as he's in the middle of an 80 game suspension. And what about the 2023 schedule? Based on what I've seen, yours truly isn't a fan of it. I'll explain why.

(28:41) We're two weeks away from the start of a new NFL season. I'm sure many of you are psyched and pumped up for your Sundays being occupied with wall to wall football. What I wasn't psyched about was UFC chairman, Dana White, breaking a story on how Tom Brady was close to signing with the Las Vegas Raiders back in the 2020 offseason. Why bring this up now? Is this even a story? I'll also chime in on some news throughout the league (Baker Mayfield starting in Carolina), as well as, remembering Len Dawson. The Chiefs QB going back to the 1960's, who died at the age of 87.

(35:19) Kevin Durant agrees to move forward with the Nets as they try to come out from the rubble of his trade request earlier this summer. But there's one dynamic that needs to be addressed, in my opinion, if this upcoming season were to be one that can lead to a championship. What were the Lakers thinking acquiring Patrick Beverley? Did they not know about the history between he and Russell Westbrook? This has the makings of a disaster!

(45:30) I'm not too happy with the direction that the New York Islanders have taken this offseason. It was capped off by the team, who was rumored to sign former Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri, instead signs a long term deal with the Calgary Flames. What is going on with GM Lou Lamiorello as he continues to sit on his hands and do nothing to improve this team, who didn't make the playoffs this past season.

Yankees State Of The Union, Dodgers Rotation Gets Huge Boost, Pujols's Quest for 700 HR's? Closure On Deshaun Watson Suspension. UFC's Edwards Shocks MMA World With One Kick

As the sports world continues to slog through the dog days of August, there are some things to discuss that'll get you caught up on all that's happening. On deck:

(3:41) What has happened to the New York Yankees? After their torrid start, where people had compared them to the 1998 team, they have grossly underachieved over the past two months. I'll take a look into my crystal ball to see if there is any light at the end of the tunnel or was this all an aberration? Meanwhile, the Mets scratched and clawed in another big time comeback in Philadelphia as they extend their lead in the NL East to four games. The Dodgers welcome Dustin May to their pitching rotation as he returns from Tommy John surgery. I'll review the pennant races in both leagues. The Cardinals stretching their division lead, including Albert Pujols's quest for 700 career home runs.

(27:29) Thankfully, the Deshaun Watson saga regarding his suspension has closure. Eleven games and a five million dollar fine. Contradicting comments and Jimmy Garoppolo rumors aside, his first game back in a uniform will be against his old team in Houston later this year. Was it set up to be this way? Also, the Buccaneers lose a key offensive lineman for the season. Bears LB Roquan Smith ends his hold-in as he'll play out his rookie contract in Chicago.

(34:14) There was a shocker in MMA on Saturday night as Leon Edwards KO'd Kamaru Usman in the closing seconds of their match. I made a comparison to an old boxing match many moons ago that the fans can relate to. Is Edwards now a guy to be reckoned with? Or will this be a one-hit wonder?

A Yankee Jumpstart With Unlikely Comeback? Aaron Rodgers Regurgitated Narrative Ends Here! NBA's X-mas Day Schedule Conflict With NFL. Giannis Plays Chicago? LeBron Re-ups With LA. Tiger PGA Pow-Wow

The sports world has generated some interesting storylines over the past few days and I'm here to share my thoughts as I have some things to get off of my chest. On deck:

(4:36) The Yankees were on the brink of not only being swept, but unable to scratch a run as they've been anemic offensively of late, had a miraculous comeback to salvage the final game against the Rays. Will this be the kick in the rear that they desperately need in order to get out of their malaise over the past month? Across town, the Mets scuffled a bit over the first two games in Atlanta as they try to gain ground in the NL East. Max Scherzer gutted out a start interrupted by rain and hung on to win 9-7, with Jacob deGrom on deck in the series finale tonight. Can they gain the two games back that they lost from the Braves. Also, former Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard ducking his former ballclub again? I'll keep you abreast of what the latest is in the pennant races in both the AL & NL, a World Series rematch from last year (Atlanta vs. Houston) highlights the weekend schedule. While the Texas Rangers not only fired their manager (Chris Woodward) earlier this week, but also their longtime GM, Jon Daniels was ousted. Where will Daniels possibly end up next? Flushing, maybe?

(23:35) Yours truly is tired of the regurgitated narratives regarding Aaron Rodgers. For now, hopefully I can put some of this to rest, considering other outlets and debate shows can't let it go. Chargers safety, Derwin James signs the largest contract in league history for his position. Will his past health issues pop up impact this extension? No surprise who's at the top of the preseason college football rankings (Alabama) Will this upcoming season be as predictable as ever?

(31:42) The NBA has released their schedule. Of course, Christmas Day is what everyone has circled to see who'll matchup over the five games. But with three NFL games that day, will anyone watch? Giannis Antetokoumpo has a thing for playing in Chicago, but for the Bulls? LeBron James gets a two year extension to remain in LA with the Lakers. Did that come as a surprise? And the sad passing of longtime NBA assistant and college head coach, Pete Carril, who passed away at 92.

(43:40) Tiger Woods has rallied his fellow brethren on the PGA Tour to discuss the LIV Golf League, the history of the PGA, integrity, among other things. Was this meeting successful for the 20-25 players that attended?
