Vacation Recap To Paris/Rome. MLB's 100 Win Playoff Disappointments. AL/NLCS Preview. SF/PHI Fall From Undefeated In Awful Week 6. Huskies In College Football Playoff Mix? NHL & NBA News

Your favorite little sports podcast host is back on the scene after a week layoff. I'm excited to present my viewpoint on all of the latest happenings in sports. On deck:

(2:47) As the podcast took a respite last week, I'll get into my quick sojourn visiting the charm of Paris and the rich history of Rome. The most perfect weather a vacation could ever have, the sights, landmarks, etc. as I enjoyed seven days outside of the States.

(5:21) We're onto the American League & National League Championship Series as we're closer to the Fall Classic in baseball. I'll take a big picture view at first to discuss is it the layoff or schedule that's affected the 100 win teams (i.e. Orioles, Dodgers & Braves) as they had early exits in the Division Series? I'll talk about Game 1 in the ALCS as the Rangers draw first blood vs. the Astros. Can Houston rebound at home where they've been subpar all year? Then I'll breakdown the NLCS between Diamondbacks vs. Phillies. Are the D-backs game to pull off another upset? Or are the Fightin' Phils destined to get back to the World Series? In other news, history could possibly be made in San Francisco as they've interviewed Alyssa Nakken, who is on the Giants coaching staff, to be the manager in what would be a first in North American sports.

(29:23) The last two undefeated teams in the NFL (i.e. 49ers & Eagles) were upended over the course of a three hour time span. San Francisco loses at Cleveland behind QB Brock Purdy's worst performance as a pro. Later, the Jet defense rose to the occasion forcing the Eagles into four turnovers in an upset 20-14 win. I'll share my disdain for the NFL pondering a Super Bowl to be played in London somewhere in the distant future. One that I'm not in favor of, so you won't want to miss that. Week 6 was a lame one, if you ask me as this season hasn't been compelling or riveting, to say the least.

(45:53) Don't look now, but there's a team in the PAC-12 that making waves toward the top of the rankings in the nation as the Washington Huskies won a wild game vs. Oregon on Saturday. Are they college football final four material? I'll delve into the landscape of the sport as they're at the halfway point of the season, with teams jockeying for position to see if they'll be a part of the playoff mix come New Year's Eve.

(50:54) Hockey fans, the NHL season has arrived. For my over/under point totals, please check the YouTube channel linked below. Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews has gotten off to a torrid start as he's done something only four other players have ever achieved in the history of the sport.

(53:29) The Association (aka NBA) tips off a week from tomorrow. James Harden is still in Philadelphia. Please wake me up if he's been traded to another team before the season begins because I can't hack this soap opera anymore. Plus, the Celtics hire a former coach and analyst (Jeff Van Gundy) to become a consultant and the Bucks look midseason ready with the dynamic duo of Dame & Giannis, drawing rave reviews by the team and throughout the league.

Fraudulent Rays Headline Wild Card Duds. AL/NLDS Storylines. NFL Schedule Spread Thin? DAL-SF Matchup. Swifties Take Over NFL? A 2023 NHL Preview. Harden Reports, Shots Fired From LA To DEN?

Excited to divulge a complete smorgasbord of sports talk before yours truly takes a little layoff as the latest podcast is at your fingertips. On deck:

(2:44) A little housekeeping to begin as yours truly is taking a little trip to celebrate a second wedding anniversary. Therefore, no podcasts are on tap for next week. I'll be back on October 16th to recap all that's transpired in sports. But have no fear, please go to my YouTube channel to subscribe and like (see link toward the bottom of the show notes) as I'll be sure to deliver whatever shakes down in the sports world over the next week and a half so you won't miss a beat.

(5:07) It was a very disappointing Wild Card round in MLB as you witnessed four sweeps in the process. The most head shaking of them all is how the Rays meekly went out after a big regular season. Same for the Brewers who fell flat on their faces vs. Arizona. NEWS FLASH: Minnesota FINALLY got over the hump. Not only to win a playoff game, but a SERIES in beating the Blue Jays. And the lights were a little too bright for the Marlins as the Phillies took care of them at Citizens Bank Park. I'll preview the storylines and predict how the Division Series will unfold. Can the Astros repeat? Will the Braves avenge last October's loss to the Phillies? Does Arizona have any chance against the Dodgers? Are the Orioles ready to take that next step and beat the Rangers? I'll have all of that, as well as, Guardian manager Terry Francona steps down as manager. Is he going to go off into the sunset and retire? Although I touched on this Monday regarding Buck Showalter's fate as Mets manager, but I dig into this a little bit more as I read one story that translated a different narrative from the truth.

(30:35) NFL Week 5 has a less than stellar schedule (although you do have Cowboys-Niners on Sunday night, which I'll discuss) Is the NFL spreading their schedule thin having to appease the networks and streaming services alike? Is Taylor Swift coming to a stadium near you? Well, The Shield (aka NFL) is here for it as ratings and interest has ratcheted up throughout the nation. Does the NFL need more fans?

(37:54) Week 6 in college football is light. You do have the Red River Shootout between #12 Oklahoma vs. #3 Texas, with Alabama visiting Texas A&M. Washington St. vs. UCLA and Kentucky vs. Georgia are your key matchups to get you through a Saturday afternoon/evening.

(39:51) It's just about time to drop the puck on another NHL season. The curtain will be raised on Tuesday. I'll get into some of the stories to pay attention to (i.e. A repeat in Vegas? Will the Leafs get to the Cup Final?) I'll take a different approach to previewing what to expect this year with surprise teams, disappointments and who'll be in the Stanley Cup Finals come next spring? I'll hold off on my over/under point totals as I thought to show a little integrity and not just wing it when selecting three overs & three unders. Peep my YouTube channel as I will thoroughly think these over and have them up before the puck drops early next week.

(54:33) The Association is starting to percolate as we're less than three weeks to their season commencing. James Harden is back in the news as he reported to training camp for the Sixers. What's going to happen from here on out? Also, the Lakers and Nuggets have added some spice to their opening night contest as there's been some banter and shots fired between the two teams, dating back to the championship parade. Will this lead to fireworks come October 24th?

Astros Steal AL West. Unsexy MLB Wild Card Matchups. Why The 49ers Aren't The Best Team In NFL? No More Colorado Talk! Europe Survives In Ryder Cup. Celtics Trade Shifts Power In East

Pumped up and excited to cross another threshold in the five and a half plus years of this endeavor as I have another jam packed, chock full of sports talk that'll have your cup runneth over. On deck:

(3:08) Some housekeeping to start as I want to say THANK YOU to all who've listened, followed, subscribed and downloaded the podcast over the years as this episode reaches another milestone (#400) as I continue to do what I love for you guys and gals.

(5:15) There wasn't a lot of drama over the final weekend of the baseball season, but you had some teams thrive (i.e. Marlins) and a few teams dive (i.e. Rangers, Diamondbacks) as they head into the postseason. Another team that thrived was the Houston Astros as they won another AL West Division title, thanks to the ineptitude of the Rangers as they'll sit and wait for the Division Series, which will begin on Saturday. I'll preview a rather unsexy Wild Card playoff picture where you'll see Rangers-Rays, Blue Jays-Twins, Diamondbacks-Brewers and Marlins-Phillies. I'll also get into the Mets and manager Buck Showalter parting ways. I'll throw my hat in the ring as to who is the perfect candidate for their next skipper (although he will not get a sniff), my awful over/under numbers for the season and terrible news surrounding the untimely death of former Pirates and Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield, who passed away at the age of 57.

(32:30) The San Francisco 49ers are off to a 4-0 start, but are they the league's best team? I'll explain why they aren't after four games. I'll share my winners (i.e. Buffalo, Denver) and losers (i.e. New Orleans, Cincinnati) in what was not a good Week 4 in the NFL. I also have to express my discontent of how the impact of Taylor Swift has made The Shield (aka NFL) even more popular, if that's possible.

(53:42) I have nothing against Deion Sanders or the Colorado Buffaloes, but no more talk about them after their poor performance in a loss vs. USC at home this past Saturday. Notre Dame answered the bell down the stretch, something they couldn't do the week before against Ohio State. Ole Miss wins a wild game against conference opponent LSU. And Florida was a no show at Kentucky as Week 5 in college football concludes with a small bang.

(57:16) The Europe squad thwarted a late charge by the Americans in Rome over the weekend as they were victorious in the Ryder Cup. The other story that caused a buzz was Rory McIlroy confronting a caddie after the US team celebrated at the 18th hole on Saturday as they were making a comeback. Was it much ado about nothing?

(59:03) Another big trade took place in the Association as the Celtics acquired former Bucks guard Jrue Holiday for Robert Williams, Malcolm Brogdon and two #1 picks. Was it too much to give up? Does the shift of power go back to Boston after Milwaukee traded for Damian Lillard last week?

(1:01:31) Hockey fans, the NHL is on the way this week as the season will begin on Saturday. One big player that won't suit up is Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy. He'll be out for two months after back surgery. How huge of a hit is that for the former back to back Cup champs?

(1:02:16) Canelo Alvarez dominated in defending his super middleweight title vs. Jermell Charlo in an unanimous win on Saturday night. Did anyone pay attention?

The Buck Starts Here: Lillard Shipped To Milwaukee. Pressure On Dame To Win? Mariners Meltdown/NL Wild Card Puzzle. Jets Stay Cool Despite Heat From Franchise Icon. Ryder Cup Preview

Closing out another month as I've got plenty to uncover as the sports world doesn't disappoint with October and the fourth quarter of 2023 on the horizon. On deck:

(2:46) The NBA sent shockwaves through the sports landscape yesterday as the Milwaukee Bucks acquired long time Blazers guard Damian Lillard in a three team deal including the Phoenix Suns. Is all the pressure going to be on Dame to deliver another title (and his first) to the Cream City? What about tampering as Heat guard Jimmy Butler brought up between the Bucks and Blazers prior to this trade?

(18:35) There's been a Seattle Mariners meltdown in the Pacific Northwest as the Houston Astros won two out of three this week, which has them 1.5 games ahead in the AL wild card race. Has this team run out of gas? How big is tonight's game vs. division leading Texas? The Cubs have also been on the collapse as they lost two excruciating games in Atlanta with the Marlins nipping at their heels. I also have to share some sad news as Orioles legend Brooks Robinson passed away on Tuesday at the age of 86.

(32:13) It's been quite a first few weeks for the New York Jets this season. Not only are the fans miffed and frustrated, it's most decorated player (Joe Namath) has come out to share his disgust about the QB Zach Wilson, the coach and front office. In comes, current injured QB Aaron Rodgers, as he tries to keep the team calm and not point fingers. Is it right for Rodgers to come to the rescue? Does he have an idea how the dumb luck of this franchise has been a major part as to why they haven't won in forever? Week 4 has one major five star game (Miami-Buffalo. Can we take the Dolphins seriously if they come up short?) and the rest are just mediocre, with the first London game (Atlanta-Jacksonville) on the schedule Sunday morning. And finally, I'm still alive in my knockout pool. I'll tell you my latest pick to see if I can extend it to Week 5.

(48:21) This week's college football schedule isn't anything like it was last week, but you have USC going to Colorado to see if they can rebound from a blowout loss at Oregon. This is a big matchup for Deion's Buffaloes. Can they respond with a better performance vs. the Trojans? I'll go through a couple of other matchups to check out (Notre Dame-Duke, Kansas-Texas, Georgia-Auburn) as Week 5 is just about here.

(53:14) Lastly, golf will have their last hurrah as the Ryder Cup arrives tomorrow in Rome, Italy. I'll preview what to possibly expect between both the USA team looking to snap a long losing streak in Europe, while Europe tries to get back in the win column after a loss on US soil two years ago.

A Dolphin Juggernaut: NFL's Best? Colorado Quacked By Ducks. Ohio St. Miracle At ND. Astros & Mariners Shrink As AL Wild Card Up For Grabs. Another Winter I Can Sleep In Peace. RIP 2023 Yankees

It's another sports podcast party as I close out the month of September with the first of two action packed shows that'll whet the casual and diehard sports fan alike. On deck:

(2:56) Are the Miami Dolphins a team that we need to take seriously? To the point that after three weeks, are they the NFL's best? I know it's way to early to dive into, but after their 70 point, 723 yards of explosive offense, we can argue that they are #1. I'll have my usual winners (i.e. Cardinals, Browns) and losers (i.e. Commanders, Vikings and Jaguars) and go through all of the games of Week 3 including the Packers comeback vs. New Orleans, another brutal Jet loss to the Patriots, among others.

(33:32) A very intriguing college football Saturday this past week as we saw Deion Sanders's Colorado Buffaloes not belong on the same field with the Oregon Ducks. I have a thing or two to say about Ducks coach Dan Lanning in regards to his postgame comments, but Deion's squad has another big matchup this week as USC comes into their building. Florida State hung on at Clemson to win a tough road game. Same for Ohio State as it came down to the wire at South Bend to defeat Notre Dame in the final seconds, 17-14. Alabama withstood a sluggish first half to beat Ole Miss at home. Utah won a defensive battle against UCLA in their building. Washington State outlasted Oregon State behind an enormous game from QB Cam Ward. And Penn State took care of Iowa at Happy Valley in a loaded schedule that saw a little shift in the top ten when it comes to the rankings as we head into October.

(45:46) What has happened to the Astros and Mariners down the stretch? Both teams got swept over the weekend, which'll lead into their epic showdown for the first of three games tonight in Seattle as they battle it out for the final wild card spot in the AL. It's tough to figure who'll come out on top based on their recent play. I'll also dissect the NL Wild Card as we're down to the final week of the MLB regular season. Oh! Who would've thought I'd utter this sentence before October? Another winter that I can sleep in peace. The New York Yankees have been eliminated from postseason contention. I'll actually have a vlog on this in the coming days, which you can watch (and subscribe) to my YouTube channel linked below.

The Battle Royale In The AL West, AL & NL Wild Card Race. Early Season 'Playoff Games' Highlight NFL Week 3. Colorado's Big Test In Oregon Headlines Big College Saturday

Fall is on the way and so is the latest podcast as I pack a lot of punch when it comes to the sports universe in a short amount of time. On deck:

(2:40) The MLB season is down to its final ten games. You've got a few things cooking in baseball with the NL Wild Card race, the AL West, as well as, the AL Wild Card. Who will make it into the dance? Will Seattle, Texas or even Houston be on the outside looking in when it's all said and done? Which team will secure the final spot in the NL? I'll look into my crystal ball to see how this'll all shake down as we get into the penultimate weekend of the regular season. Also, Shohei Ohtani got his right elbow surgically repaired as he'll enter free agency this offseason. He'll DH next year and toe the rubber in 2025. Is he worth the $500 million dollar price tag that he's expected to receive?

(22:15) NFL Week 3 doesn't have a lot of sexy matchups, but there are a few games that'll, in essence, look like early playoff games. First up is Rams-Bengals. I have a theory about Joe Burrow's nagging calf injury. Patriots-Jets, which is more meaningful for the Jets because of the spell coach Bill Belichick has cast over his old team. Chargers-Vikings, both 0-2 and need a win bad. Same for the 0-2 Broncos as they head to unbeaten Miami. I'll touch on this past Monday's Browns-Steelers game. The loss of Nick Chubb, the ineffective and regression of Deshaun Watson and the Steelers offensive offense.

(33:10) There are a few games on the college football circuit that have a lot of intrigue. Florida Stata will visit Clemson to start us off at 12 noon. We'll get to see Deion Sanders's Colorado Buffaloes play some stiff competition as they'll face the Ducks in Oregon. Alabama will host Ole Miss. What about Ohio State vs. Notre Dame? Oregon State vs. Washington State. Plenty of big games to chew on as Week 4 is on the horizon.

Surprising 2-0, 0-2 Teams Highlight NFL Week 2. Colorado Avoids Scare. Alabama Out Of Top 10! O's Hold Off Rays. D-Backs Rolling In NL. Blue Jackets Coach Resigns Under Strange Allegations

Although fall is still officially five days away, the first of two podcasts this week officially arrives to your computer, tablet or mobile phone as I delve in on all that happening in sports. On deck:

(3:32) NFL Week 2 is just about in the books. My theme early on in this season are the surprising 2-0 teams and 0-2 teams. I'll get into my usual winners (i.e. Falcons, Seahawks, Giants) and losers (i.e. Broncos, Chargers) of the week, go through yesterday's docket as I review all that took place in the league.

(27:45) With a lot of bluster, bulletin board material leading up to a game that was "personal" for Coach Prime, Deion Sanders, they had to eke out a hard fought win at home vs. in state rivals Colorado State. They lost a key player (i.e. Travis Hunter) and have two tough conference games upcoming (i.e. Oregon & USC). Alabama out of the top 10? That's correct as they're currently #13 in the nation. Tyler Buchner doesn't seem to be the answer at QB. What does Nick Saban do at this point?

(34:10) We're down to the final two weeks of the MLB regular season. There are still division and wild card spots to be secured. The Orioles bounced back in their four game series with the Rays nicely. After losing the first two games, they salvaged the back two and have a couple game lead in the AL East. The AL West is hotly contested between the Astros, Mariners and Rangers, with the latter two in a rock fight for wild card spots against the Blue Jays. Which says a ton about the NL wild card, because the Diamondbacks have catapulted to the second wild card team after a sweep over the Cubs who have fallen from the playoff mix. The Marlins continue to scrap and claw after a sweep over the Braves at home as they currently have the final seed in the NL. Will the Cubs, Reds and even Giants make a last second push? I'll break down all of the schedule for the remaining teams jockeying for position to set themselves up for the Hunt For Red October. I'll also discuss the news of Angels Shohei Ohtani cleaning out his locker as he's shut down for the rest of the year (with two weeks to go????) And the Red Sox fire VP of baseball operations, Chaim Bloom after three plus years in Boston. Was this expected or warranted?

(50:31) A strange development took place in Columbus over the past few days. With NHL training camps open, Blue Jackets coach Mike Babcock removed himself as rumors came out about him invading privacy of his players, as it was reported, he grilled them over photos in their cell phones and alleged told them to AirPlay them for all to see on the screen during team meetings. Have you heard of anything as peculiar as this?

Aaron Rodgers Injury Impact On Team, Schedule & League. Teams That Need To Rebound In Week 2. Scherzer Injury Stifles Rangers. Rays Battle O's For AL East. NBA Cracks Down On Load Management.

September is moving fast. Summer is officially starting to make its way out, but ushering its way in is the latest fast paced, informative podcast as I cover all that's going on in sports. On deck:

(3:00) All it took was four offensive plays for the new quarterback of the New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers to go down for the season with a torn Achilles. What impact does this have toward the team, the backup QB Zach Wilson, the schedule and the league on a whole as they try to recover from this devastating injury. I'll take a look at who needs to rebound from bad Week 1 losses as Week 2 is here. A Monday night doubleheader forthcoming? This is the first of a few on the docket this year. Why I'm not a fan of the double dose of football, especially happening multiple times throughout the season?

(30:13) It's a super weak Saturday on the schedule for college football, but next Saturday's slate of games are more intriguing.

(32:14) We're down to the final dozen and a half games of the MLB season. The Rangers suffer a huge blow as Max Scherzer is done for the regular season with a triceps injury, with the postseason in doubt. The race for the AL West is wild and wooly between the Astros, Mariners and Rangers. Will all three qualify for the playoffs? The Mets finally get their man to run the baseball operations as former Brewer exec David Stearns, a Flushing native, will man the ship over the next few years. How much work does he have in front of him? There's a huge series in the AL East as Tampa Bay will visit Baltimore for four games to potentially decide who'll be division champs.

(42:33) The NBA is cracking down on teams and players when it comes to load management as they have a tier of fines for those who sit out players that aren't hampered with a significant injury. Why this is a boon for the Association and I'll make a comparison to players/teams of the past who would scoff at the notion of taking games off?

Remembering 9/11. Cowboys/49ers Dominant. Lions/Dolphins Heroic. Bengals/Steelers/Giants Awful Cap NFL Week 1. Is Alabama Done? Mike Trout On Trade Block? Coco, Novak Open Champs. Shocking MMA Upset

On a day that this country will never forget, I'll do my best to get us through a busy past few days in the sports world as I share with you the latest podcast. On deck:

(2:50) I'll reflect on a day that us as a nation we'll sadly always remember. My experience of the attack on lower Manhattan as I was just a few blocks from both planes that struck the World Trade Center and how that day impacted me and the rest of us as I revisit that horrific incident 22 years ago today.

(9:36) As I transition to the toy department of life, Week 1 of the NFL arrived with plenty to unpack, especially when it comes to my winners (i.e. Detroit, Miami and Green Bay) and losers (i.e. Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and NY Giants) I'll get into the Cowboys dismantling of the Giants in their building. Same for the Niners putting it on the Steelers. What about QB Brock Purdy? He continues his winning ways, but I have a thought on something that we haven't seen yet from Mr. Irrelevant when thrust in a big pressure spot that hasn't been discussed. I'll recap all of that transpired yesterday and Thursday night, with a look ahead to tonight's Monday night matchup between the Bills-Jets.

(36:11) Are the Alabama Crimson Tide already out of the college football playoff discussion? A surprising loss at home against the Texas Longhorns has them behind the eight-ball just two weeks into this season on whether or not they'll end up as one of the final four to play for a national championship. Also, the big story in the sport is what's happening in Boulder, CO as the Buffaloes have gotten off to a 2-0 start behind coach Deion Sanders. They have a trap game against their in-state rival Colorado St. this week, with games against Oregon and USC after that. Is a possible letdown in order?

(43:25) We're down to the final three weeks in the baseball season. A developing story coming out of Anaheim has the front office approaching Mike Trout to discuss a possible trade for the future Hall of Famer. Where will he go? How much will the Angels pay the whopping $245 million that's owed to him? And what will they get in return? Don't look now, but the Houston Astros are in first place in the AL West. Why it's important for them to win the division this year? I'll cover the rest of the baseball landscape, especially the AL East race, as well as, the NL Wild Card race as we down to the final 20-ish games of the year.

(56:10) Coco Gauff finally wins her first ever Grand Slam title as she's the US Open Champ on the women's side. While it's the same old song on the men's side as Novak Djokovic secures his 24th Slam championship, defeating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets, stamping his approval of who the GOAT is in tennis all time.

(1:00:44) A shocking upset in MMA happened Saturday night as middleweight Israel Adesanya was unable to beat fill-in and handpicked opponent Sean Strickland, losing by decision. Is a rematch forthcoming where Adesanya can exact some revenge?

Loaded AFC, Weak NFC, Pressure On Rodgers/Jets Headline 2023 NFL Preview. Clemson Stinker, Stanford/Cal To ACC, Texas-Bama. Urias Torpedoes LA's Series Hopes, Scherzer Gags. US Open Semis On Deck

Are you ready for some football? It's time to usher in a new campaign as I'll dissect that and everything else that's happening in sports as the most recent podcast is at your disposal. On deck:

(2:57) Rejoice NFL fans, the season is here! It's time to breakdown every aspect of this upcoming year. The storylines of how poor the NFC is, while the AFC is loaded. The pressure and spotlight squarely on Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets. I'll cover all of the divisions, have over/under win totals, my knockout pool pick, squeeze in a preview of my beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and predict who'll face off in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas next February.

(43:49) Clemson put up an absolute stinker vs. Duke on Monday night. In the process, they may have torpedoed any chance of making the college football playoff. I'll discuss the preposterous move for Stanford, Cal & SMU to the ACC starting next year and peek at the Week 2 schedule as Texas-Alabama is the big matchup to watch.

(47:55) Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias has put his teams chances to go back to a World Series in jeopardy as he was arrested for his second domestic violence charge last Sunday. Is this the last that we've seen of him? The Rangers have been in a freefall over the last month. It culminated last night at the hands of their in-state rival Astros, as we they were swept at home and Max Scherzer did not deliver in a game that absolutely had to have. Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton reached a home run milestone (No. 400) earlier this week. He has a shot for 500 career homers. Is he Hall of Fame worthy? I'll bring you up to date on the latest wild card and division races as we inch closer to the conclusion of the MLB season.

(57:29) We're down to the semifinals at the US Open. I'll discuss the final four matches on both the men's and women's side. Will there be another Novak Djokovic-Carlos Alcaraz final? Is this Coco Gauff's tournament to lose?

MLB Homestretch With Log Jams In NL Wild Card & AL West. NFL Over/Unders Review. Colorado Resurgence, Jalen Milroe's Big Day, FSU Back Highlights College Football. Swiatek Out/Coco Gauff's Moment

As we gear up for the final days of summer, the sports universe starts to pick up furiously so I have plenty to unpack as the latest episode is here. On deck:

(2:43) With the Labor Day holiday weekend coming to a close, we're in the homestretch of the baseball season as we have two critical races to watch. I'll get into the NL Wild Card picture as you have four teams (i.e. Miami, San Francisco, Arizona and Cincinnati) fighting for one spot ALL with roughly the same record. And the AL West has a three team race (i.e. Seattle, Texas, Houston) for the division title. There is another chase to pay attention to as the Orioles and Rays are battling it out for the AL East. The Braves had an impressive weekend in LA as they won three out of four games, but it was an eventful week for Ronald Acuna Jr. Not only did he have some huge games vs. the Dodgers, but he got married in a morning ceremony on Thursday, as well as, getting ambushed by two fans in Colorado on the field in the middle of a game last Tuesday. I'll also review my over/under win totals of the year thus far, to see where I stand for the six teams that I chose at the beginning of the season.

(18:52) The NFL season begins in three days. I'll review the over/under win totals for the 2023 campaign with some likes, dislikes and hints as to who I may choose come Thursday's podcast when I'll have my full football preview at that time.

(27:38) College football is in full swing. I'll take a peek at the highlights of the weekend including Deion Sanders coaching debut and huge win vs. TCU. Alabama QB Jalen Milroe's impressive start and is Florida State back as they beat LSU behind their young QB Jordan Travis.

(34:42) The US Open is into its second week. We almost had a major upset on the men's side as Novak Djokovic survived a scare on Friday night. There was a huge upset on the women's side as the #1 player Iga Swiatek lost in surprising fashion to someone who's not a household name (i.e. Jelena Ostapenko). Which sets it up for Coco Gauff, who now has to get it done, finally get to a Grand Slam final...and win!

AL West Rockfight, Under The Radar Phillies & Mets Embarrass Themselves Again. Can Georgia 3-Peat? Colts RB Taylor Trade Will Have To Wait. Major Upsets At US Open. The End Of Venus Williams?

September is a-calling, but I'm not through with August just yet as I close out the month and this rough stretch of sports that we've experienced as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(2:46) Let's all rejoice as we have finally made it out of the Sports Dead Zone, Part 2. Things will pick up considerably from here until the end of 2023. First up is what's going on in baseball. Will the pennant races heat up in September? I think we can say that's the case in the AL West as the Mariners, Astros and Rangers (separated by one game) will be in a rock fight to see who'll come out on top as division winners come October 1st. I'll break down who may have a leg up with the schedule as we get to the homestretch of the season. Don't look now, but the Phillies are laying in the weeds as a dangerous team in the NL. We saw it last year as they went on to play in the World Series. Do they have another deep postseason run in them? And I have to throw in my two cents about the Mets. Why did they give Max Scherzer a video tribute is beyond me? Is this how the sports world works in this day and age? My displeasure will rock your earbuds, headphones or speakers so you won't want to miss that. I'll keep you up to date on the latest playoff chase and look ahead to some interesting series this holiday weekend.

(26:30) College football is back! The season begins in earnest over the next few days. The big question going into the new year, can Georgia three peat? I'll get into that and other top storylines (i.e. can Alabama get back to the college football playoff? Is there a Cinderella that can go to a final four?) with a rather predictable take on what to expect here in the college circuit over the next few months.

(40:51) The Colts were unable to trade star RB Jonathan Taylor over the past couple of weeks. He'll be inactive until Week 5. Could he be showcased for a trade before the deadline in late October/early November? Bengals QB Joe Burrow is back on the field practicing. Was he being held out to protect himself for a big payday?

(43:30) There have been some major upsets on the men's side at the US Open (#4 Holger Rune, #5 Casper Ruud and #7 Stefanos Tsitsipas) which will help towards another hotly anticipated matchup between Novak Djokovic-Carlos Alcaraz. A good story coming out of Flushing Meadow is what Caroline Wozniacki has done so far, moving onto the third round after an upset over #11 Petra Kvitova. Then there's Venus Williams. At 42 years of age and another first round exit, is it time for her to hang it up?

(49:57) Lastly, I'll share when training camps open up for the NHL & NBA as the fall and winter sports will start to creep into our consciousness before you know it.

Mariners Rise Or Rangers Demise In AL West. NY Teams In Last Place. What About '24? Strasburg Retires. Trey Lance's Future. Giannis: One Foot Out In Milwaukee? US Open Preview

With summer slipping away, there's no time to get sad as there's quite a bit to unpack as the first of two podcasts this week awaits. On deck:

(3:10) We're finally coming out of our Sports Dead Zone as September looms, but baseball is still at the forefront. Don't look now, but there's a new division leader at the top of the AL West. The Seattle Mariners have come all the way back from a .500 team to first place, where the Texas Rangers resided until last night. Is this more of a Rangers collapse than a Mariners resurgence? Then you have both New York teams in LAST PLACE this late in the season for the first time in over 30 years. Who's better off moving forward in 2024? The Mets or Yankees. There was an expected and disappointing retirement as Nationals pitcher, Stephen Strasburg called it a career due to injuries. At least, he won a World Series and Series MVP in the process. I'll take a look at the latest races in the AL & NL wild card as we get closer to the end of the regular season.

(34:21) The Trey Lance experiment in San Francisco went up in smoke as the former 2021 #3 pick overall was shipped to Dallas for a fourth round pick. For all of the promise coming out of North Dakota St., where does his career go from here?

(38:48) Notre Dame kicked off the college football season in grand style over in Dublin with a rout over Navy. The college circuit begins in full earnest on Thursday which I'll get into in depth at that time.

(39:58) Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has thrown down the gauntlet to the front office that if they do not surround him with championship caliber talent, he may not sign a three year extension that he's eligible for come September 22nd. Was he out of line in saying so?

(46:13) The final Grand Slam tournament in tennis commences today as the US Open is in full swing out at Flushing Meadow in Queens. Will we see another Carlos Alcaraz-Novak Djokovic final? What about the women's side? Is it wide open? Is it Iga Swiatek's tournament to lose?

(52:14) A couple of notable signings on the ice as the Tampa Bay Lightning re-sign Brandon Hagel to an eight year extension? Is he worthy of it? While the Rangers ink Alexis Lafreniere to a two year deal, who's been disappointing as a highly touted #1 pick overall a few years ago.

Uh-Oh, Ohtani! Angels Star Facing Uncertain Future With Health & Free Agency. Colts RB Taylor On The Move? Harbaugh's Joke Suspension. Harden's Soap Opera. Jonathan Toews Steps Away, For Now

The final week of August is here and so is the latest podcast delivering all that's happening in the world of sports. On deck:

(2:57) Just a week away from coming out of this Sports Dead Zone as college football is back on the landscape, but to start with baseball, it doesn't get any bigger than the unfortunate news of Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani. He suffered a torn UCL in his right elbow which means he won't pitch for the remainder of the year. What is the extent of the injury? How will this impact his upcoming free agency where he was originally expected to get a $500 million dollar payday? Will there be a shorter deal? I'll unpack those questions to the best of my ability on the uncertain future of the former MVP. The Texas Rangers are in a free fall in the AL West. Could they potentially miss the postseason altogether despite being in first place all year? I'll go through the latest in the the divisional and wild card races as we inch closer to the homestretch of MLB season.

(27:21) The college football season is upon us. I'll have a preview next week as the season will commence in earnest, but this Saturday the Fightin' Irish of Notre Dame will play in Dublin vs. Navy to get things rolling as we have the college circuit to look forward to a few days earlier than usual.

(28:58) As for the NFL, a divorce is pending in Indianapolis between running back Jonathan Taylor and the Colts. Where will he go? And what will be the cost? Cost is what's making Chiefs All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones sit out potentially until Week 8. How much will that affect the Chiefs heading into the season? What's left for Jadeveon Clowney as he signed a one year deal with the Ravens. There were also a couple of retirements as Myles Jack & Corey Davis decided to step away from the sport. What's going on with Trey Lance? He will be the third string QB behind Brock Purdy and Sam Darnold. As a former #3 overall pick, his future in San Francisco is up in the air? I failed to mention this in the college football segment, but what a joke of a 'self imposed' suspension by the University of Michigan handing down a light three games for coach Jim Harbaugh.

(41:33) The soap opera surrounding James Harden in Philadelphia may never end. The league fined him 100K for his comments last week towards GM Daryl Morey. We've seen this movie before in Houston and Brooklyn. Will it have a similar ending in Philly? And so much for Damian Lillard going to Miami as rumored earlier this summer. All has been quiet on that front.

(44:34) Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews has stated that he'll need time away from the game as he recovers from long lasting effects from COVID and not retiring from the NHL. Auston Matthews re-ups for four more years in Toronto as they get set for training camp in the next few weeks.

Mariners Chase For AL West Title? Brewers Peaking? Aaron Boone's Fate? NFL Preseason Concluding. NBA Christmas Day Schedule Conflicts With NFL Again! A YouTube Channel/Vlog Update

As summer slowly starts to slip away from us, that can't be said about the sports world, even if it's been a slog lately. I'll share all that's happening and then some. On deck:

(2:56) I commence the pod with some housekeeping. I completed my first full vlog (i.e. video log) that I uploaded on my YouTube channel (@JAYREELZ). Whatever Happened To The Old Grounds At Yankee Stadium is an 18 minute project detailing how the old 'Cathedral of Baseball' is a shell of its old self. I highlight the many historic moments, events, players that stepped foot on that hallowed ground. Please go to the channel to subscribe, like and comment as I'll have much more content in the days and weeks to come. I'd be remiss if I didn't shout out my dad, who turns 73 today to wish him a happy birthday.

(5:09) Break up the Seattle Mariners. They're in the middle of a six game winning streak. They just swept the Houston Astros on the road and nipping on their heels in the wild card race, but now they're just three games back of the AL West leading Texas Rangers. Can they actually make a push to win the division? The Milwaukee Brewers did the Mariners a favor by sweeping the Rangers in Texas over the weekend. Are they a threat in the NL because of their excellent starting pitching and top notch closer? The Red Sox also put some distance between them and the Yankees after breaking out the brooms in Yankee Stadium the past three days. Who is going to be the fall guy as the Bombers (in the middle of an eight game losing streak) may end up on the outside looking in when it comes to making the postseason in October? Besides that, you don't have much (although you have five teams for two wild card spots in the NL - Giants, Cubs, Reds, Marlins & Diamondbacks) that'll be a rock fight over the next month and change.

(27:25) All is quiet on the NFL front as we approach the final week of preseason games, including Aaron Rodgers getting some burn against the Giants in the coming days. (And no, I still haven't watched Hard Knocks as of yet.)

(30:25) The NBA schedule has been released. I'll go over a surprising opening night doubleheader, the Christmas Day games which'll conflict with the three NFL games that'll take place that day. You KNOW I'll add my two cents on this and I'll hold off from talking about the James Harden saga in Philadelphia, although I do make a mention of it.

(39:31) Lastly, Lionel Messi-mania has made its impact in South Florida with the Inter Miami team as he continues to his stellar play. Has it spread up here in the Northeast? What about the rest of the country? Is it because the MLS doesn't have the talent or competition to match the leagues overseas?

Are The Braves THAT Good? The Uncertain Future of Rays SS Wander Franco. Jets Expectations & Pressure Higher With Dalvin Cook On Board? NFL Training Camp News, Injuries & Signings

Still in the middle of this slow sports period (aka Sports Dead Zone), but I'll provide all of the latest and greatest as there are some things to uncover with what's going on in the world of sports. On deck:

(3:01) Are the Atlanta Braves the best team in baseball? Is this team THAT GOOD? Is it a foregone conclusion that they'll go back to the World Series? I'll unpack their strengths and even weaknesses as they continue to roll with the best record. Then there's the unfolding, yet alleged sordid story of Rays shortstop Wander Franco and his involvement with a teenage girl. Could this possibly be the beginning of the end of what was potentially a Hall of Fame career? The division and wild card races are status quo, but I'll take a peek at the weekend schedule with a few big series (BOS-NYY, ARZ-SD, MIL-TEX, SEA-HOU) as we inch closer to the end of the month.

(31:54) The Jets are back in the news (I still haven't watched a second of HBO's Hard Knocks) as they signed former Vikings running back, Dalvin Cook. Are the expectations and pressure to win this year even greater with this signing? I'll get into some injuries (Russell Gage, Treylon Burks & Marlon Humphrey), other deals (Ezekiel Elliott to New England, Zack Martin returning to Dallas) and a sad passing of former Ravens back, Alex Collins who perished in a motorcycle accident earlier this week.

(44:05) Sending a heads up as yours truly has produced the first of many vlogs, which’ll be broadcast on my YouTube channel at the link below this coming Sunday. HINT: It’s baseball related at a surprising location that, if you know me, wouldn’t expect to share or tell this particular story.

2023 Yankees On Life Support? MLB Division/Wild Card Update. Colts RB Taylor Impending Return Despite Rift With Front Office. Harden Calls Sixers GM "A Liar". Who's At Fault? Who To Trust?

The dog days of August are in full effect. So is the first of two podcasts this week as I jump into the sports pool to keep us all cool on all that's transpiring in sports. On deck:

(2:55) Are the 2023 Yankees on life support? After yesterday's collapse in Miami where the bullpen blew a four run lead in the ninth inning against the Marlins, they go to play the best team in baseball in Atlanta as they get themselves dusted off for a 44 game sprint to October? Is it time to throw dirt on them, even with six weeks to go in the season? I'll take a trip around MLB to review the latest division and wild card standings. And some news regarding Rays SS Wander Franco as it looks like he's going to be away from the team for an indefinite period of time?

(30:50) The Indianapolis Colts and star running back, Jonathan Taylor may be at a crossroads as Taylor is expected to join the team after a contract stalemate, a trade request and some dubious injury information regarding a back issue. Can the Colts save face with this situation?

(37:21) Sixers guard James Harden has publicly called out his GM Daryl Morey, "a liar" as they try to negotiate and execute a deal to send Harden packing out of town? Who's at fault? Who's to blame? Who do you trust?

(44:46) Another longtime Boston Bruins forward is headed off to retirement as David Krejci calls it a career, just weeks after Patrice Bergeron did the same.

Orioles Ahead Of Schedule, But Ownership Is A Problem! A Yankee Housecleaning Forthcoming? Hard Knocks, Ron Rivera Apologizes For Comments Regarding OC, Off Field News That Barely Dents 'The Shield'

Getting through this slow, sports Dead Zone period, yet again as I'll share whatever the sports universe has to offer. On deck:

(2:39) The Baltimore Orioles have been flying high, leading the AL East with the best record in the league. With all of their young talent and promise on the rise, there's a looming presence from ownership that could upset the potential of how far this team can go over the next five years. Then there are the Yankees. Is it possible that there could be a housecleaning in the front office and/or the manager if they do not make it to the postseason? As for what's happening on the field, the Mariners have started to click as they're in the midst of a seven game winning streak. Can they threaten the Rangers for the division lead in the AL West? The Phillies have played well as they've thrusted themselves to the top of the Wild Card lead in the NL, in light of newly acquired Michael Lorenzen throwing a no-hitter vs. the Nationals. I’ll take a peek at all of the latest that’s happening in the divisions and wild card races as we approach the middle of August.

(33:19) Hard Knocks premiered on HBO the other night as the Jets are highlighted this year. I haven't watched it yet, but from what I've heard it's been an absolute lovefest between QB Aaron Rodgers and the team. The Commanders are back in the news cycle. Coach Ron Rivera had to retract some comments about his offensive coordinator, Eric Bieniemy and his intensity toward the players. This is a make or break year for Rivera with a new regime in tow. There's been more off the field news as former Raiders wideout Henry Ruggs has been sentenced three to ten years for his fatal accident back two years ago in Las Vegas. Saints RB Alvin Kamara and Colts CB Chris Lammons have been suspended for three games at the start of the season for their involvement in a fight that took place in Vegas last year. No matter how many players get in trouble off the field and all of the negative press that it generates, it goes to show that 'The Shield' is inpenetrable when it comes to things like this.

A Wild MLB Weekend With Sweeps, Some Separation, A Big Scuffle & A Bold Mets Prediction! College Football Conference Exits. Good Or Bad? USNWT Inexcusable Exit? AD's High Risk & Reward Deal

Is the sports scene starting to pick up? It sure does look that way for the moment as I dissect and divulge all that's taken place over the past few days. On deck:

(2:49) It was a wild weekend in the MLB over the weekend. Are the Twins establishing themselves as the team to beat in the AL Central? With the way the Guardians have played, they just might be. Speaking of which, the Guardians & White Sox had a donneybrook on Saturday night as Jose Ramirez got the best of Tim Anderson in a crazy scene out at Progressive Field. Then you had former White Sox reliever Keynan Middleton blast his former team stating that there's no leadership, taking a shot at manager Pedro Grifol, which speaks to how they've underachieved over the past two years. The Blue Jays went into Fenway to sweep the Red Sox as they've put some distance in the Wild Card race in the AL. Will the Red Sox be heard from after a lost weekend? I'll go through both the AL & NL pennant chase, dissecting each league with some intriguing storylines (i.e. Rangers rolling in AL West, Yankees rough road, Cubs becoming a force in NL Central?) And a presumptuous prediction by yours truly in regards to the future of the current Mets manager, Buck Showalter.

(26:17) The NFL opened their exhibition season this past Thursday and had the Hall of Fame induction on Saturday. Did I watch? I'll segue to the college circuit as they've made a ton of news over the past few days. Two teams are leaving the PAC-12 (Oregon & Washington) to join the Big Ten. While Utah & Arizona State are moving to the Big 12. With all of these teams (including USC, UCLA to the Big Ten. Oklahoma & Texas moving to the SEC in the next year) moving to bigger and better conferences, how does this change the landscape of the sport overall? Is this good for college football?

(39:18) The US Women's Team fell short of repeating as World Cup Champions as they were ousted by Sweden. Who's to blame here? Was it just bad luck? A lack of fire?

(44:38) On the NBA front, Anthony Davis signed an extension to stay with the Lakers to make him the highest paid player (annually) in the league at $62 million per. Why this deal is high risk/high reward as the Lakers look to get back their championship mojo?

(49:24) There was a huge trade in the NHL as Norris Trophy winning defenseman, Erik Karlsson gets shipped from San Jose to Pittsburgh in a three team deal involving Montreal, to fortify and upgrade a backline and power play already equipped with future Hall of Famers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Does this automatically make the Penguins a team to beat in the East? Also, the Capitals sign resident tough guy, Tom Wilson to a seven year deal. Is he worth a long term deal as such?

MLB Trade Deadline Recap. Astros World Series Favorites? State Of The Mets Future. Division/Wild Card Update. NFL Preseason Is Back/Detest Lions-Chiefs Matchup. Women's World Cup. Anyone Care?

August is here as we await to get out of the doldrums of a slow sports period. Have no fear. There are a few topics on the board that I'll dive into as the latest podcast has arrived. On deck:

(2:43) As we continue to slog through this Sports Dead Zone, Pt. 2, thankfully there's baseball to discuss. After the dust settled from the MLB trade deadline on Tuesday, I'll get into a few of the trades that teams normally aren't in this position (i.e. Orioles, Marlins, Diamondbacks, etc.) at this time of the year and how they've set themselves up for this playoff chase. Of course, you know I have to throw in my rusty two red cents on the Mets. The "fire sale" that wasn't, turned into that did as they sent Justin Verlander to Houston on Tuesday. The course of this franchise has changed direction drastically, to the point that they are transitioning in 2024. Is that a good thing? Why have they done a 180? I'll unpack all of it, as well as, all of the latest in the division and wild card races with now less than two months to go in the regular season.

(34:40) Are you ready for some football? Well, sort of. The NFL preseason kicks off tonight with the Jets-Browns playing in the Hall of Fame Game. Do I have any interest? The actual season commences five weeks from tonight with Lions facing the Super Bowl Champion Chiefs. Why I am NOT a fan of that game? The Denver Broncos have had a training camp to forget as they've had two players either suffer a season ending injury (WR Tim Patrick) or out indefinitely with a heart condition (WR KJ Hamler)

(40:24) I haven't gotten into the US Women's Soccer Team performing in the World Cup as they were almost sent packing vs. Portugal. Why I can't get into it? Or even the sport on a whole?
