Can Giants Hold Off Dodgers? Intrigue In NL East? NFL WK 1 Matchups/KO Pick. College FB: Sizzles & Fizzles. Ben Simmons Wants Out! Five Major Stories At US Open. De La Hoya's Replacement Is WHO?

It may not be official, but summer is starting to fade away in 2021 as Labor Day has arrived. We can't say that for what's taking place throughout the sports universe. New seasons have started or will begin this week as Episode #212 is locked and loaded for your consumption. On deck:

(6:48) In what has been a weird and unpredicatable baseball season, the MLB playoff push goes into overdrive as we're a week into the month of September. How important is it for the Giants to win the division? Will they have what it takes psychologically to go deep in October if they end up hosting the Wild Card Game after leading the NL West all summer long? The NL East is getting interesting as the Braves have come back to the pack. The Phillies and Mets have cut into the divsion lead, but an intriguing week schedule wise could be a true test as they chase Atlanta for the top spot. The Yankees have cooled off after a torrid winning streak. The Mariners have overachieved as they're putting pressure on the teams above them in the AL wild card race. I discuss my over/under win totals as we hit the homestretch and what will Derek Jeter's Hall of Fame speech sound like come Wednesday night in Cooperstown?

(45:15) The NFL season is on the horizon. I'll get into the Week 1 storylines, including the release of Cam Newton in New England. The controversy surrounding vaccinated and unvaccinated players coming out of training camp and into the season. The big games on the schedule for the first week. With my 2021 Preview upcoming on Thursday, I'll share a nugget on who my knockout pool pick will be come Sunday.

(1:01:41) College football's first week had a quite few good matchups, but most did not live up to the hype. Georgia was stout in their win against Clemson. How that stacks up when it comes to the college football playoff down the road? Alabama was unstoppable, Notre Dame had to hang on to win vs. Florida State. #2 seed Oklahoma holds on win while being the 'road' team at home. Those are some of the games I'll discuss and I'll take a look ahead to Week 2.

(1:09:52) The Expendables, ahem, I mean, Lakers are at it again as they bring in ANOTHER reinforcement/mercenary in their quest to keep LeBron James happy for the franchise's 18th championship. The Nets also take a page out of the Expendables, bringing in two players, one who retired suddenly as a member of the team last year (i.e. Lamarcus Aldridge) and one who has lots of postseason experience (Paul Millsap). Plus, the Ben Simmons drama is percolating in Philadelphia as he wants out before the start of the year. Will it happen? Could this be a potential distraction? Who may be involved in trading for the talented, but disgruntled All-Star?

(1:17:20) A couple of NHL notes with a new COVID protocol and the players will participate in the Winter Games next year.

(1:17:56) The US Open tennis tournament has taken an unexpected twist as FIVE major developments have boiled to the surface over the past few days as the #3 men's player (i.e. Stefanos Tsitsipas) has been surprisingly ousted before the quarterfinals. The rise of 18 year old Carlos Alcaraz as he becomes the youngest player in 58 years to make the quarterfinal round. On the woman's side, another player rising in stature is Laylah Fernandez as she defeats both Naomi Osaka AND Angelique Kerber to thrust herself in the conversation to push for a semifinal or finals berth. The #1 women's player won't be around for a title as she gets bounced from the tournament after holding a comfortable lead against Shelby Rogers. I also get into the emotional press conference of Naomi Osaka and how this could be the last we see of her for quite some time. And then Sloane Stephens shares her experience of the hate and vitriol that's spewed on her social media accounts.

(1:33:30) Golfer Patrick Cantlay has won back to back tournaments over the course of eight days. Is this something to cherish or applaud? Or is it because it's not a major, does it not matter? Should we focus in on him being a top level player on the tour?

(1:36:32) Former boxing champion Oscar de la Hoya had an upcoming fight this weekend but had to bow out due to contracting the coronavirus. You won't believe who his replacement is scheduled to be. Evander Holyfield. YES! That Evander Holyfield!

(1:38:25) And of course, I close out with my Hero and Zero of the Week.

In Yanks We Trust Come October? Thumbs Down On Mets, Baez & Lindor. NFL Over/Unders, College Football Preview. New Lakers: The Expendables! Novak's 'Slam' Chase. Taking Jake Paul Seriously?

August is about to depart and September is around the corner, but in the moment is my take on all that's going on in sports as Episode #211 has arrived. On deck:

(5:55) The polar opposites of the New York baseball teams as they've made news in the sport this past week. First up, the Yankees just completed a 13 game winning streak, putting themselves in prime position to make the postseason. It does pose the question, do you trust this core (i.e. Judge, Stanton, Sanchez, Torres, etc.) to deliver a championship? (17:33) Another rant about the god forsaken team that I root for in the Mets. How analytics ruined a big start by Taijuan Walker, the Javier Baez 'Thumbs Down' fiasco to the fans and there MUST be a complete house cleaning in store from the top on down as this team needs to do some major self-analysis this offseason. Plus, I'll take a look at the MLB playoff landscape as we head into the final month of the season.

(43:00) The NFL season is a week plus upon us. I'll review the over/under win totals for the year. Perhaps I'll give you a peek as to who I may choose come next week. I'll even get into my potential knockout pool pick to start off Week 1. I'll highlight what's going on throughout the league with some news and notes.

(54:04) The college football season is underway. I'll get into the first matchup of note this past weekend, what lies ahead this weekend as the highlight game will take place between #5 Georgia vs. #3 Clemson. I'll preview if there'll be a change at the top of the college football rankings at all throughout the course of the year, the alliance between the PAC-12, ACC & Big Ten and who'll be Heisman hopefuls come December?

(1:02:14) The Association was quiet, but there were a few transactions that took place. The Knicks offered Julius Randle a fair extension for some team flexibility. The new look Lakers add another familiar piece in Rajon Rondo as I'm going to dub them 'The Expendables' after the action movie and its mega cast of action heroes of the past. Is Kevin Garnett's Celtic number worthy of being risen up to the rafters at the TD Garden in Boston?

(1:09:17) Some signings in the NHL, a change in representation for Sabres' Jack Eichel as I've discussed in a recent podcast and a sad, untimely passing of former player, Jimmy Hayes.

(1:13:55) The final major tennis tournament of the year (US Open) with the only storyline being Novak Djokovic's chase for immortality in completing the calendar Grand Slam. Will he do it? Will the pressure mount as he gets closer to winning? What about the women's side as Naomi Osaka returns for her first Slam appearance since the Australian Open.

(1:20:08) Jake Paul is continuing to make his way and name in the world of boxing as he wins a split decision against former MMA fighter, Tyron Woodley. Is this a guy that we're going to have to take seriously?

(1:23:05) A thrilling six hole playoff goes under the radar, because it wasn't a major golf tournament, had Patrick Cantlay winning over Bryson Dechambeau as golf starts to gear up for the Ryder Cup coming soon.

(1:25:01) And closing out with my Hero and Zero of the Week.

MLB's Cream Rising To Top (ATL, LAD, NY), Miggy's 500th. Who's Next? Young QB's (Wilson, Lance) On Deck To Start? NBA X-Mas Sked/Ben Simmons's PHI Future? Nadal Out! Pacquiao Done?

Summer may be starting to slip away, but the sports universe isn’t ready to go off into the sunset just yet. I’ve got you all covered as Episode #210 is fresh off the presses. On deck:

(6:21) All seems to be right in the MLB as the following teams who had slow and sluggish starts and were expected to do big things this year (ATL, LAD & NYY) have all been a part of nine game winning streaks to propel them in great position to participate in the playoffs this October. Detroit's Miguel Cabrera hits his 500th home run of his illustrious career. Who is the next guy in line to hit one of baseball's biggest milestones? MLB is scheduling another 'Field of Dreams' Game next year between the Cubs and Reds. Will it capture the imagination and success the way it did this year? I'll have an up to the minute report on a couple of teams coming on strong in the Wild Card race as the pennant chase heats up with September on the horizon.

(37:41) The NFL preseason will close out this week and there's a lot of promise in NY surrounding #2 overall pick in QB, Zach Wilson. Why his productive training camp may not translate to success in the regular season? Same for Trey Lance in SF as he's looking to stake his claim as the starting QB over Jimmy Garoppolo. Could that possibly happen? My thoughts on HBO's Hard Knocks with the Dallas Cowboys. Plus, a key injury with the Jets (Carl Lawson), a key re-signing in Seattle (Jamal Adams) and two players recovering quickly from injury could be on a practice field this week (Indianapolis QB Carson Wentz and OG Quentin Nelson) and with college football just ten days away, I'll have who AP ranks as the #1 team in the nation. (It comes as no surprise.)

(52:20) The NBA schedule highlights the big news of the week. I'll detail the Christmas Day matchups, as well as, who'll play opening night to tip off the 75th anniversary of the Association. LeBron James not receiving one vote for being the best player in the league? I was shocked to see how low the NBA over/under win totals for the upcoming year were. I have a reason why that you won't want to miss. The Celtics have re-signed a couple of key contributors with their team (Marcus Smart & Robert Williams) Why is the Draymond Green-Kevin Durant squabble from two seasons ago rearing its ugly head today? Was the coach/GM of Golden State to blame as to why Durant didn't re-sign with the Warriors? Also, what's the latest with Ben Simmons's status as a member of the 76ers?

(1:09:54) The Arizona Coyotes will need to look for a new address to play? Will they stay in the state? Is Houston a possible destination? The NHL will adopt the ads on jerseys starting the year after next. The #1 pick of the draft this year will not suit up for Buffalo this year as he'll go back to college to play in his sophomore year. Was it something more than that? (i.e. Jack Eichel situation?) And the passing of NY Ranger great, Rod Gilbert.

(1:15:34) Another major competitor in men's tennis will not participate in a major tournament as Rafael Nadal will sit out with a foot injury. Does this make the road easier for Novak Djokovic to win the historic Grand Slam in a calendar year? Will there be an asterisk next to it if he does win?

(1:18:04) Manny Pacquiao surprisingly loses to an unknown fighter for the welterweight title. Is this the end for legendary boxer?

(1:20:59) Of course, to close the pod, I have my Hero and Zero of the Week.

MLB's 'Dream'ing, Tatis Jr., Sale, Cole Return & A No-No First? NFL Young Gun QB's Camp Progress. Kawhi: 100% Trustworthy? The End Of Roger Federer?

Taking you through the dog days of August as there’s plenty of sports content to analyze and dissect. Episode #209 has it all for the diehard or casual sports fan. On deck:

(4:52) Despite college & pro football in the not too distant future and the winter sports (hockey and basketball) opening up training camps next month, it's all about baseball as the pennant races start to shift a little bit. I'll share my thoughts on the Field Of Dreams game in Iowa between the Yankees vs. White Sox and how this is a positive if they were to put this event on the schedule year in and year out. I'll also get into the returns of Fernando Tatis Jr. and what he means to the Padres. The unlikelihood of history being made by Diamondbacks pitcher, Tyler Gilbert throwing a no-hitter in his first start. Chris Sale's first time on a major league mound since 2019 and what he means to the Red Sox? Will Gerrit Cole be rejuvenated after a stint on the COVID health and safety protocol list? Plus, all of the latest up to the minute pennant races as I go across the entire MLB landscape.

(36:17) I'm tracking the early progress of the QB's that were drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft (i.e. Jacksonville's Trevor Lawrence, New York Jets Zach Wilson, San Francisco's Trey Lance and Chicago's Justin Fields) as they headline what's going on in training camp to date. Some news regarding a smart trade by the Steelers. Have the chances run out for talented but troubled DE Aldon Smith? And what's happening in New Orleans as the Saints aren't able to get out of their own way with personnel issues, no starting NFL corners and is Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill the answer at QB?

(50:14) There were a couple of major signings in the NBA as Luka Doncic re-ups with the Mavericks, but more of the talk is the Kawhi Leonard contract with the Clippers. While that may not come as a surprise, it does beg the question, can you trust him 100% to deliver despite his basketball resume? Speaking of the Clippers, they've made an upgrade at the guard position which'll help them battle it out for Western Conference supremacy. And the Celtics sign a point guard who's an 'irrational confidence' guy, but will it pay dividends with the young guys on the team?

(1:02:10) A huge injury from one of the NHL's top stars in Toronto (Auston Matthews) may be sidelined right up until the start of the season. And a veteran (Joe Thornton) going on two decades in the league signs with the upstart Florida Panthers. Also, the sad passing of legendary goaltender, Tony Esposito.

(1:07:02) Roger Federer will miss 'many months' as he needs another surgery on his right knee. Is this the beginning of the end for the all-time great?

(1:08:38) Boxing takes another hit as Errol Spence Jr. had to step away from his fight with Manny Pacquiao as he deals with an eye issue. Will his substitute bring any attention to the boxing/fight fan out there?

(1:10:42) As always, I close out with my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Another Mets Meltdown! Is There Hope? Lakers Reload In NBA Free Agent Frenzy. BUF QB Allen Sets Bar For Baker & Lamar Megadeals? Olympic Conclusion! Jack Eichel vs. Sabres Mgmt.?

Your boy is back at it! Another action packed, fast paced journey through the sports landscape as I share my thoughts, analysis and opinions as Episode #208 is fresh off the presses. On deck:

(5:17) The collapse of the NY Mets as they not only fall out of first place for the first time in three months, but fall to third place in the division in a 48 hour span. I'll recap the disgrace of a road trip with a sweep in Philadelphia and should us Met fans hold out any hope? Is this season, which is going down the drain, relatively over in August? I'll take a trip throughout the sport with what's happening on the diamond and catch you all up on the pennant races to date.

(36:49) The Association (a.k.a. The NBA) was wheeling and dealing over the past week. Some controversy regarding some sign and trades (i.e. Lonzo Ball & Kyle Lowry) regarding alleged tampering prior to the opening of free agency. Who were the big winners of the past week? I'll cover all of the major tranactions, including the Lakers re-tool and reload as they look to get back to winning another championship.

(51:24) The NFL had a very good week with the preseason underway for the first time in two years. A couple of major signings, including Bills QB, Josh Allen's $258 million dollar contract. What does this mean for his fellow draft classmates Baker Mayfield and Lamar Jackson? Contracts are the theme off the field when it comes to the current status of Steeler OLB T.J. Watt, Dolphins CB Xavien Howard, Justin Houston choosing Baltimore over Pittsburgh, to name a few. I'll also share my thoughts about the historic Hall of Fame ceremonies over the weekend to induct the 2020 & 2021 honorees into Canton. The life and legacy of former Florida State football coach, Bobby Bowden, who passed away over the weekend at the age of 91. Plus, the end of the Big 12 in college football as Oklahoma and Texas will move over to the SEC in 2025.

(1:06:44) The Olympics have finally come to a close. Why were the ratings more than 50% lower than the past summer games of yesteryear? I'll take a look at the top stories of the past week and look ahead to the Winter Games which will take place less than six months from now in Beijing, China.

(1:11:46) The ongoing saga between Sabres F Jack Eichel and management in regards to surgery that needs to be required on his neck with FIVE YEARS left on his deal. How long will this tug of war last? Will the Sabres trade their top player? Will he stay in Buffalo? Is surgery on the table anytime soon? A fascinating story developing with one of the league's top players. Also, a couple of key defensemen re-sign with their clubs.

(1:20:44) There was a dominant victory in the heavyweight division on Saturday night in the UFC. Is Cyril Gane one to look out for in the weeks and months to come?

(1:22:48) One of the world's most popular athletes in the world, soccer legend Lionel Messi, leaves Barcelona to reportedly sign with PSG. So I'll have a word on that.

(1:25:10) To close, I have my Hero and Zero of the Week.

MLB's Trade Deadline Whirlwind. State Of Mets Union: Time To Worry? LA Story: Westbrook Arrives! Kawhi On The Move? NHL's Free Agent Frenzy. NFL Camp News. Back Off On Biles & Her Mental Health

The early dog days of August are here and so is the latest episode #207 as I cover all that’s happening in the world of sports! On deck:

(5:15) The wild, crazy, fast and furious of the MLB trade deadline with tons of wheeling and dealing that we haven’t seen on this level. I'll assess all of the big deals (Max Scherzer/Trea Turner, Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez, Kris Bryant, etc.) and the impact that they'll have in the pennant race. Are the Yankees primed for a run to the postseason? Also, a little state of the Mets union that has me a little worried as we’re closing in on the final two months of the regular season.

(40:26) The NBA offseason has begun as I'll recap the little hype that the NBA draft produced this year, but I'll dive head first into the Lakers monster trade for Russell Westbrook. Why I think it could be more harm than good? Would you risk signing Kawhi Leonard if you're an NBA owner? And some of the other top headlines that are coming out (the Ben Simmons trade saga, anyone?)

(54:49) The NHL is off and running with free agency in their own right as you have players on the move (i.e. Marc Andre Fleury, Brandan Saad) and players staying put (Gabriel Landeskog and Brayden Point) Also, a longtime Bruin goes back home (David Krejci).

(1:00:25) I'm not ready for football just yet, but there's quite a bit to get into whether it's Xavien Howard's contract fallout in Miami, Aaron Rodgers's surprise return to training camp and the injury to Carson Wentz in Indianapolis which will interrupt their Super Bowl aspirations with a sprinkle of signings in Baltimore and Cleveland. Why are Madden 22 ratings part of the discussion in sports?

(1:09:10) The Olympics march on to its second full week, but the spotlight on Simone Biles withdrawing from both team and individual competition amid reports about mental health? Although she is coming back to compete in the beam final, how this story became the most talked about in the world? And why the criticism in some circles is downright wrong? Plus, the latest with what's going on in Tokyo.

(1:14:50) Lastly, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

MLB Rumors/Trade Deadline Week. Should The Yanks Sell? Giannis's Historic Finals Closeout: The Best Ever? NHL's Kraken & Entry Draft Recap. Watson Reports, Forfeits & More As NFL Camps Open

Another month is almost in the books, but the latest episode #206 is already in the books as I escort you through the sports universe with all that it has to offer. On deck:

(6:08) Baseball is the last sport standing as we've hit the Sports Dead Zone Pt. 2, with lots of rumors milling around with the Trade Deadline set for Saturday at 4pm. The Rays have fired the first salvo bringing in a bat (Nelson Cruz) as well as, trading P Rich Hill to the Mets. The Padres made a move for All-Star, Adam Frazier to secure their infield. I discuss other big time players that can be on the move (Trevor Story, Javier Baez, Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Max Scherzer, to name a few) and my take on the Yankees as they should sell, including stars, Gary Sanchez, Gleyber Torres and yes, Aaron Judge with my state of the Bombers this late in the season. I'll explain why. There are some key players coming back (White Sox OF, Eloy Jimenez) and some on the IL (Dodgers OF, Mookie Betts) There's also a new name for one of baseball's oldest teams. I'll update all of the latest pennant races with not too much drama in the AL & NL as of today.

(34:08) The Bucks win their first title in 50 years on the shoulders and back of Giannis Antetokoumpo. How does his epic performance rank all time in close out games? Also, the flipside of the Suns setting as they weren't able to secure two more wins after being up 2-0 in the series. Does this affect Chris Paul's legacy? How about Devin Booker? Deandre Ayton? Will they be back in the Finals next year? I'll share who'll be the potential top picks in the upcoming NBA Draft may be.

(52:40) The Kraken have completed their draft and filled out a roster for their inaugural season in 2021-22. Were there any surprises as to who wasn't picked by the NHL's newest team? I'll take a look at who was chosen at the top of the NHL Draft this past weekend with a theme of some family lineage tying into two of the teams that are impacted. Also, a huge singing in Colorado with their top defenseman, Cale Makar. Will this be the first domino to fall in order to bring back some of their own free agents (i.e. Gabriel Landeskog & Brandan Saad)? And the league did the Islanders ZERO favors when it comes to the schedule for this upcoming year. You won't want to miss that!

(1:05:29) NFL news and notes as training camps open throughout the league including, embattled Texan QB, Deshaun Watson on the trading block? Will some team take the plunge despite the baggage? An update on the Aaron Rodgers saga in Green Bay. A couple of signings in San Francisco and Pittsburgh. A disgruntled pass rusher in Arizona. A tough loss for the Rams with a key offensive player going down for the season. And a memo that spread throughout the league regarding COVID outbreaks within a team and how forfeits of games and loss of paychecks will take place because of players that are unvaccinated. Even a coach received a pink slip for refusing to get the vaccine. I'll be sure to dissect all of that.

(1:18:18) A brief update on the Summer Olympics. The USA Men's basketball team have lost their first game since 2004. Is this a sign of bad things to come? And a 13 year old became the second youngest to win a gold...in SKATEBOARDING!

(1:21:04) Of course, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Bucks Experience Pushes Suns To Brink. Legacy GM 6 for Giannis & CP3? MLB's Bizarre Week! Morikawa's Open Victory. NHL's Kraken Begin New Era. The Olympics: Does Anyone Care?

Just when you think the sports world will start to slow down a bit, it always delivers another level of excitement. Here to bring you up to speed on all that’s happening, Episode #205 promises to heat up your speakers and earbuds. On deck:

(6:00) The Sports Dead Zone, Pt. 2 hasn’t arrived during this different sports year as the NBA is set to crown a champion tomorrow night possibly with the Milwaukee Bucks, flexing their experience, toughness and grit that they’ve accumulated over the past two plus postseasons and exhibited in Games 4 & 5 of the Finals. I’ll discuss the potential legacy games for both Giannis Antetekoumpo & Chris Paul as Game 6 looms. Do the Suns keep their season alive and push the series to a deciding Game 7? In other news, there is a new coach in Washington with a familiar name, the play in tournament will be back in 2021-22 and Kawhi Leonard’s secretive diagnosis has been revealed.

(29:16) MLB has one of the most bizarre weeks in recent memory. From Pete Alonso’s arrogance at the Home Run Derby, to a ho-hum All-Star Game, the Yankees, including Aaron Judge coming down with COVID, a wild weekend in Pittsburgh for the Mets with two major injuries to dissect, a shooting outside of Nationals Park and the Brewers take back the NL Central (well, sort of). I’ll go through the divisions as we’re just 12 days from the Trade Deadline.

(47:12) Collin Morikawa wins his second major tournament in 10 months by coming from behind to beat Louis Oosthuizen and Jordan Spieth to win the British Open at Sandwich Bay. At 24, how bright is his future? Also, how did the rest of the field fair? (i.e. Bryson Dechambeau, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, etc.)

(57:15) I have to apologize to #1 women’s tennis player and Wimbledon winner Ash Barty.

(58:12) The newest team in the NHL, the Seattle Kraken will have two drafts to look forward to this week as they’ll build their roster through the Expansion Draft (Wednesday) and the Entry Draft (Friday & Saturday). Will they become a similar version to the Vegas Golden Knights of four years ago? Plus, a big trade for Edmonton that could pay dividends to a young Connor McDavid and their franchise next year.

(1:04:57) No players have opted out (as of yet) of the upcoming season in the NFL as training camps open next week. And let’s add another story to the already legendary status of a one Thomas Edward Brady!

(1:07:32) The Olympics open up on Friday in the midst of COVID as it’s affecting Tokyo. Will anyone watch? Does anyone care?

(1:12:45) Of course, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Mat Whitecross, Director Of The Showtime Docuseries "The Kings" On Leonard, Duran, Hearns and Hagler. Plus, The State Of Boxing And The U.S. In The 1980's

If it’s a mid-week podcast, you know that I have a special guest on deck as Episode #204 relives a golden era in boxing (the 1980’s) with Mat Whitecross, director of the Showtime docuseries, The Kings. We delve into the lives and careers of boxing legends Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Thomas Hearns and Marvin Hagler. We get into their classic bouts, the state of America during the 80’s with Ronald Reagan at the helm, and how these fighters persevered and rose to fame during this time. This will surely take you down memory lane for those who lived it. Or you’ll learn quite a bit, and much more, if you haven’t had the opportunity to watch from afar and witness their greatness in the ring.

Giannis On A Mission? Suns Look For Answers. Lightning: A Three-Peat On Deck? MLB's Pretenders/Contenders. Djokovic's Immortality. British Open Preview. Is McGregor Done? Soccer PK's Disaster!

NBA Finals. A Stanley Cup Finals recap. MLB at the halfway point. Novak Djokovic’s attempt at immortality. A preview of The British Open. Conor McGregor’s latest setback. And a rule that MUST be changed in soccer, especially when it comes to winning a championship.

Where else are you going to find all of that on one podcast? Right here, so please indulge me as I entertain you as Episode #203 is ready to set your speakers or earbuds on fire. On deck:

(5:54) The NBA Finals haven’t really been anything to write home about to date, but the Bucks have gotten back into the series as a pivotal Game 4 looms. What can the Suns do to stop the Giannis freight train? Will there be a Khris Middleton sighting? This is familiar territory for the Bucks as they do their best to dig outof another 0-2 hole. Who else from the Suns can step up and be the guy, besides Chris Paul and Devin Booker? There was also a new coaching hire as Jamahl Mosely is the top dog in Orlando.

(23:46) The Tampa Bay Lightning have won back to back Stanley Cups. The big question is? Can they go for a three-peat which hasn’t been witnessed in the league in almost 40 years? I’ll have the answer to that as I put the NHL playoffs to rest.

(33:52) I’ll go through what may be the pretenders and contenders in MLB. There isn’t much to discuss here as it’s been pretty much status quo for the past few weeks. You’ll have to listen to get a full grasp of what I’m saying. I’ll also discuss Jacob deGrom’s decision to not participate in the All-Star Game. The actual game itself. And how the Mets were able to get one of the top pitchers in the country via the MLB Draft last night.

(51:50) Novak Djokovic’s quest for immortality as he has completed 3/4 of the calendar Grand Slam, and in the process, has tied Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer for the most Grand Slam victories by a men’s player in history. What will the pressure be like for Joker as we approach the US Open next month?

(57:49) I’ll preview the British Open which begins on Thursday. Will the weather/elements be a factor? (That’s usually the case) Who may we see at the top of the leaderboard when all is said and done?

(1:04:06) The Conor McGregor-Dustin Poirier bout did not go as planned as Poirier wins by TKO at the fifth minute of the first round due to a cracked tibia as McGregor tried to plant his left foot. Is this the beginning of the end for McGregor?

(1:11:21) Italy wins the Euro Cup over England on penalty kicks. PENALTY KICKS?! Are you effing kidding me? Soccer may not be my forte, but something has to give as these championship matches CANNOT come down to this. I have a solution that’ll upset the soccer fan, but will make sense for a better and dramatic product.

(1:17:47) And, of course, my Hero and Zero of the Week!

CP3's Journey/Giannis Uncertainty: A Finals Preview. Can Lightning Sweep In Cup Repeat? How MLB Will Handle Bauer's Assault Claims? Yankee Demise: Will They Sell? Who Can Beat Novak At Wimbledon?

With another holiday behind us, let’s look ahead to another jam packed, fast paced escape through the sports universe as Episode 201 is ready for takeoff. On deck:

(5:04) The NBA Finals are set as the Milwaukee Bucks will face the Phoenix Suns starting Tuesday. I’ll detail Chris Paul’s run to his first ever Finals appearance, his legacy to date. The health status and uncertainty of Giannis Antetekoumpo. The rise of Khris Middleton’s play, Jrue Holiday’s contribution. Will the viewing public get into this series? And other storylines heading into this unique championship round.

(31:58) The Tampa Bay Lightning are set to reclaim the Cup for a second straight year. Can they produce the first sweep in a Stanley Cup Final in 23 years? Will goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy come up with another series clinching shutout? Is the mayor of Tampa right, wrong or crazy for suggesting that Tampa lose so that they can win Game 5 at home?

(43:59) The Dodgers look to have their swagger back as they’re one of the hottest teams in baseball, but one of their teammates is in hot water as Trevor Bauer has been put on leave by MLB in light of an alleged sexual assault with a woman two months ago. Did the Dodgers handle this properly? What will MLB do throughout this process? And why this story doesn’t receive the attention that the NFL & NBA would if it happened in either of their leagues? Also, what has happened to the Yankees? I’ll dissect their week from hell as they lost a brutal game at home when they once led 7-0, the players only meeting, owner Hal Steinbrenner chiming in on their first half futility, Gerrit Cole’s lost grip? Aroldis Chapman’s ineptitude, Gleyber Torres regression, their rotation, lack of athleticism, even the two admission doubleheaders (which isn’t the Yankees fault) A commentary that you won’t want to miss. I’ll peruse through both the AL & NL as we’re a week away from the All-Star Break.

(1:14:42) Wimbledon is in its second week and it’s been a bit of a bore. The big story is who can stop Novak Djokovic as he looks to grab his third Grand Slam tournament of the calendar year? Is Roger Federer waiting in the wings? What about the women’s side of the bracket?

(1:21:20) A couple of quick notes in the NFL (i.e. Training Camp upcoming, Cowboys back on Hard Knocks and former wideout Demaryius Thomas’s retirement.)

(1:23:34) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

The Thrill & Agony Of Game 7's! Islanders Fall Short. What's Next? Cup Preview. CP3 On Cusp. A Clipper Comeback? Can Bucks Seal The Deal? MLB's First Ejection Crackdown! A Wimbledon Shocker!

Another milestone for the podcast as Episode #200 is coming at you correct, direct and in full effect on all of the latest and greatest in the world of sports. On deck:

(6:45) The lead up and thrill of a Game 7, but in a loss, the pain and suffering that comes with it.

(9:22) Which brings me to the NY Islanders, who fell two goals short of making it to their first Stanley Cup Finals in 37 years. I’ll recap their final week in the postseason, what to expect this offseason, what they need to get over the hump and a BOLD prediction for next year’s team that you won’t want to miss. I’ll also get into the Montreal Canadiens unexpected run to a Cup Final and predict who’ll hoist Lord Stanley as champions of the NHL. There’s also a new coach for the newly minted Seattle Kraken as I’ll share my thoughts on that.

(31:31) Future Hall of Famer and Suns point guard, Chris Paul is one win away from reaching his first ever NBA Finals, but there may be something brewing with the Clippers as I have a gut that they have the Suns right where they want ‘em. I’ll deep dive as to the possibility of a Clipper Comeback that would be the cataclysmic event this woe be gone franchise needs to get themselves into the Finals. By chance, if the Clippers happen to push this series to a 7th game, what does this say about current coach, Ty Lue? What about Doc Rivers and his tenure as Clips coach? The Bucks have control of their series with the Hawks, but will they put the hammer down on a feisty Atlanta team that’ll come into Game 4 hurting as Trae Young is hobbled with an ankle injury? I’ll also get into the various coaching vacancies filled in Indiana, Boston, Dallas and Portland with some news on Luka Doncic’s alleged relationship with the Mavericks front office and Kristaps Porzingis. Does Damian Lillard want out of Portland now that Chauncey Billups is the head coach? Some interesting developments going on and I have it all covered.

(57:40) Week one of the crackdown with foreign substances in MLB is in the books. At the tail end of it, there was an ejection with the Mariners reliever, Hector Santiago being tossed for having resin in his glove. Was an ejection warranted? Should this have happened since the substance was legal? I’ll have that, the Yankees floundering, the Mets big week, the Giants could put some distance between them and the Dodgers and a top heavy NL & AL as we approach the halfway point of the regular season.

(1:13:19) A shocker at Wimbledon as one of the top men’s players is ousted at the All England Club. Which leads to the bigger question. Is Novak Djokovic’s quest to winning the third leg of the calendar Grand Slam a formality? Also, who’ll come out victorious on the women’s side? I’ll have a preview.

(1:20:36) A couple of notes regarding two offensive lineman in the NFL with one player going (David DeCastro released by the Steelers) and one player coming (Morgan Moses signs with the Jets).

(1:23:15) Not to mention, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Jazz, Nets, Sixers Falter! Clippers, Bucks, Hawks Prosper! Ben Simmons Dilemma! Islander Upset On Deck? MLB Crackdown Begins! Student/Athletes: Pay For Play? Rahm's Comeback Wins US Open

Summer has officially arrived. With that, comes the latest installment of all that’s happening in sports as Episode #199 is online and ready for takeoff. On deck:

(5:58) The demise of the top seeds in the East and West (Sixers & Jazz) and the Brooklyn experiment goes up in smoke. The aftermath of what went wrong for those teams, including thoughts on the regression of Sixers Ben Simmons. The collapse of the Jazz and the bitter defeat of the Nets. I’ll also have the ascension of the Clippers (making their first conference final trip), Hawks (the confidence of Trey Young) and Bucks. Also, what is the best possible NBA Finals matchup? There’s been a lot of off the court stuff regarding coaches (NO, WSH & DAL), division with the Mavericks? Suns GM 1 win vs. the Clippers. The Celtics coaching prospects and the trade that sent Kemba Walker to OKC for an old friend.

(46:05) The quest for the Stanley Cup Finals is getting closer. I’ll review both the Islanders-Lightning and Canadiens-Golden Knights series and what are the chances of the Islanders pulling off the upset of the defending Cup champs?

(1:00:38) The crackdown begins in the MLB in regards to pitchers being checked for doctoring baseballs. Will the umpires strictly enforce it? Plus, my thoughts on what baseball should do to change a couple of tweaks in 2020 now that we’re almost back to normal throughout the nation!

(1:16:04) A ruling came down that the US Supreme Court has unanimously decided that student/athletes can be compensated monetarily in Division 1 football and basketball. When will this commence? What will this mean for both sports outside of the field or court?

(1:19:53) A couple of notes from the NFL (i.e. Justin Fields backup plan in CHI, Derek Carr potentially quitting if traded from LV and Cole Beasley’s choice to not get vaccinated.)

(1:22:22) Jon Rahm comes from behind to win his first ever major golf tournament at the US Open over the weekend. I’ll recap that.

(1:26:54) An update on a couple of players who’ll not participate at Wimbledon later this month.

(1:27:28) Of course, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Islanders Strike Lightning With Finals In Sight! Crisis Time For Nash/Nets? MLB's Crackdown On Pitchers? Is Djokovic The GOAT? Mickelson's Elusive Chase For US Open Title: A Preview

With summer just days away, it’s synonymous with the sports world as it’s blazing a trail with lots to get into. You’ve come to the right place for in-depth analysis and opinions as Episode 198 is primed and ready for takeoff. On deck:

(5:39) The Stanley Cup Playoffs have moved onto the Final Four. The Islanders meet up with a familiar foe as the Tampa Bay Lightning are again, standing in their path to a Cup Final. What do they need to do in order to pull off the upset? I’ll also preview the Canadiens-Golden Knights series as it commences later this evening (Monday 6/14)

(26:15) Not a whole lot of drama in the NBA Playoffs (unless you’re the Brooklyn Nets), but first, the Suns punched their ticket to the Western Conference Finals as they sweep the MVP of the league (Nikola Jokic) and the disappointing Nuggets. I’ll discuss their meteoric rise, Chris Paul’s resurgence, as well as, Donovan Mitchell’s Jazz a couple of wins away from meeting CP3. Is Mitchell the greatest Jazz player ever? EVER?! Is it time to panic if you’re Steve Nash and the Nets? Will there be a James Harden sighting? Will Kyrie Irving return? Can Kevin Durant will his team to the next round? Also, the Sixers are in cruise control, a belated mention on the retirement of Duke’s Coach K and some rumors as to a candidate for the next coaching job of the Celtics.

(50:00) The MLB could be ready for some pitchers getting warned and ejected as the crackdown of pitchers using foreign substances may take place this week. I’ll get into Gerrit Cole’s admission (or lack thereof) on whether he uses something to doctor the ball. Pete Alonso’s factual theory of baseballs being juiced for players in their free agent walk year. Jacob deGrom’s brilliance on display, yet again! The Rays stay hot, the Angels in the AL West mix? The Brewers and Cubs trending north, while the Cards head south. The Giants standing pat in a crowded NL West bunch with the rival Padres and Dodgers.

(1:05:27) Some NFL news comes down the pike as to Deshaun Watson telling a former teammate where he wants to play, Jordan Love getting some major reps with Aaron Rodgers skipping mandatory OTA’s, former NY Giants coach, Jim Fassel passes away and the College Football Playoff devising a plan to extend the format to 12 teams? I have a different plan altogether.

(1:11:02) Novak Djokovic wins the French Open and is halfway to a calendar Grand Slam? Can he do it? Is he already the GOAT?

(1:19:42) On the heels of winning the PGA, Phil Mickelson will ride the momentum to the US Open to shoot for that elusive championship. I’ll preview who may be at the top of the leaderboard and the juicy storyline of the Bryson DeChambeau-Brooks Koepka rivalry.

(1:24:52) Some thoughts on the Denmark soccer player, Christian Eriksen, who collapsed during a Euro 2020 game this past week.

(1:26:02) Of course, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Clipper Survival/NBA's 2nd Round. Canadien Uprising In Montreal! MLB's Newest Scandal. NFL Power Shift In AFC? French Open Flop! PGA: Rahm's Poor Luck. Belmont Stakes Ends Rough Month

No June swoon as the sports world continues to heat up with summer inching closer. I’ll have all of the latest analysis and hot takes as Episode #197 is ready for consumption. On deck:

(5:03) The NBA is onto the second round, but the Clippers saved face as they come back and secure a home win to move on to play the Jazz. Could this be what the Clippers needed? What about the disappearing act of Mavericks forward, Kristaps Porzingis? The Knicks feel good season goes up in flames. LeBron James’s lack of sportsmanship. The Celtics face an overhaul? Who will be their next head coach? I’ll have some predictions out West in the Conference Semifinals.

(39:37) The NHL’s top story of the postseason has been the remarkable 180 of the Montreal Canadiens. From the brink of extinction to the brink of the Cup semifinals, I’ll unpack the week that was and the rest of the second round playoff series that’s making news throughout the league. Plus, who are the two best teams in the league at the moment? And the makings of a sexy Stanley Cup Final matchup?

(55:10) MLB has a serious issue on their hands. Pitchers are about to be called out for using foreign substances to gain an advantage for ‘spin rate’ throughout the league. Will this crackdown be strict? Lenient? The brilliance of Jacob deGrom and can the Yankees jump start their lineup?

(1:12:54) Julio Jones gets traded from Atlanta to Tennessee to add another layer to an already stacked conference.

(1:16:19) The French Open has come undone with injuries, player withdrawals, etc. Is there a silver lining that can save the tournament?

(1:21:13) A major player in golf contracts COVID while having a huge lead in a tournament over the weekend. The Bryson DeChambeau-Brooks Koepka rivalry is one to keep an eye on.

(1:23:52) The Belmont Stakes puts an end to a rather forgettable five weeks in horse racing.

(1:25:36) Logan Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather. Is this actually a topic of discussion?

(1:26:08) Of course, my Hero and Zero of the Week!

Fans Are Back, But Quarantine Their Behavior! NBA 1st Round Dud (Except LA Teams). Leafs: Exorcise GM 7 Demons? Reaves Suspension? MLB: Here Come The Rays! Osaka's Media Boycott? Helio Does It Again!

On this Memorial Day as we commemorate the soldiers who fought, served and died for our country, I deliver a jam packed, sports podcast party for you all as Episode #196 is ready for your earbuds or speakers. On deck:

(5:51) Is it me or is it strange to see full houses in arenas throughout the NBA and NHL? What about the MLB, especially in the New York area? As we await word on the restrictions lifted for that sport. With that said…

(10:20) …The fan behavior in the NBA the past week has been atrocious in New York, Philadelphia & Boston. I’ll detail the buffoonery there. A dud of a first round in the NBA except for the two LA teams. Are the Lakers in trouble without Anthony Davis? Can the Clippers be trusted after evening the series with Dallas? Does Denver respond after the coach calls out his team for playing soft? The Knicks have been a major disappointment so far. The toughness of Chris Paul and the Suns and much more as the first round of the playoffs come to a close.

(34:45) If there was ever a must win, not for a team or organization, but for the city of Toronto, tonight is it! I’ll discuss what tonight’s Game 7 could mean, either way, for the playoff embattled Maple Leafs. Has the Penguins championship window closed? Does Edmonton need a wholesale change to their roster? The Avalanche look mighty strong, but is there a possible suspension on the horizon for Vegas winger, Ryan Reaves in last night’s loss at Colorado. (A NINE MINUTE POWER PLAY?) Thanks to some light shed by an old friend of the podcast (Headstyle from Minnesota. Episode #120) I’ll touch on why Reaves shouldn’t be suspended and how sports as a whole has changed and evolved over the years?

(57:21) MLB’s first point check of the season has the Tampa Bay Rays playing better than anyone in baseball at the moment. I’ll go through the contenders and pretenders in baseball, with a look at the latest Yankee woes. The Mets ‘cushion’ in the NL East despite tons of postponements. Can the Giants stay in the division race with the Dodgers & Padres? And the competitive AL East! Plus, some thoughts about Lou Gehrig Day on June 2nd, the wacky Javier Baez play in Pittsburgh and my over/unders to date.

(1:17:34) Julio Jones wants out of Atlanta. Is Seattle his next stop? I’ll explain why that’s not a marriage made in football heaven.

(1:20:45) The French Open is underway at Roland Garros. Why are Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer on the same side of the bracket? Also, Naomi Osaka will not partake in any media obligations throughout the tournament citing mental health issues. NOTE: At the completion of editing this podcast, Osaka withdrew from the tournament as she thought it was best not to be a distraction and to take time away from the court!

(1:26:36) A familiar face wins the Indianapolis 500 as Helio Castroneves wins his record tying fourth race in a close finish.

(1:29:06) An update and quote on the status and recovery of Tiger Woods.

(1:30:15) And, of course, my Hero and Zero of the Week!

Mickelson's Historic PGA Win, NBA's Play-In 'Future' & Weekend Recap, NHL's Closing Out 1st Round (Caps Reload? Unload?) MLB's No-Hitters: No Big Deal? Reminiscing: The Indy 500!

If spring in your neck of the woods is feeling more like summer these days, then the sports world is already scorching as if it’s July & August as another fast paced, action packed podcast is officially online. Episode #195 packs a lot of heat. On deck:

(5:25) Phil Mickelson does the unthinkable by winning his first major in eight years to become the oldest player to win a major tournament. Were the elements at Kiawah Island to blame for some bad play by golf’s top players? What kind of momentum will Lefty have going into the US Open? The one title that’s missing from his mantle. And what happened with the crowd and security at the 18th hole during the final round?

(22:14) The NBA completed its first weekend of playoff games. I’ll look back on the play-in tournament. Why it’s time to shelve it? Now the league is flirting with a mid-season tournament? You know I have much to say about those two topics. I’ll recap the games from Saturday & Sunday, with a thought on the Lakers loss in Phoenix and Memphis’s early upset of Utah.

(41:00) The NHL is about to close their opening round series, while Colorado and Boston await the next round. Will the Capitals regroup this offseason? Or is it time to disband a team led by all time great, Alexander Ovechkin? Same for the Penguins, if they don’t make it out of this round vs. the Islanders? The Oilers falling flat on their faces thus far. The Maple Leafs rebound after losing their captain. Will Nashville extend Carolina to the limit? Many questions abound as things continue to heat up on the ice.

(55:09) Two more no-hitters in the MLB this past week. Why has there been SIX of them before Memorial Day? I have an interesting take as to what’s going on as baseball looks to find their way through this lackluster start. Plus, the Padres, Dodgers and Yankees are hot, with the Bombers winning eight consecutive series. Mike Trout’s injury, Pujols delivers for the other LA team, White Sox manager Tony La Russa mishandling of Yermin Mercedes and a thought on the late Pirate, Rennie Stennett, with an obscure record that must be mentioned.

(1:13:07) I also make a brief mention of an event that’s taking place this weekend, which was one that I remembered as a boy that kicked off the unofficial beginning of summer: The Indianapolis 500.

(1:15:38) Of course, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Playoff Storylines (NBA: Play In, 76ers, Nets. NHL: Pens Psyche, Leafs Run?) In Quest For Titles, MLB's Lackluster Start? Brady vs. NE Highlight NFL Schedule. Preakness Letdown. PGA Preview

The sports season starts to intensify and I’ll make sure it’s all covered as Episode 194 is ready for consumption. On deck:

(5:00) The NBA playoffs are just about here, but first, the play-in tournament that’ll determine who’ll make it into the top-8 seeds in each conference. I’ll take a look at the four games (CHA-IND, WSH-BOS, MEM-SA, GS-LAL) and who’ll move forward to join the other six in the East & West. I’ll have all of the juicy storylines from the Sixers ‘process’, the Nets ‘win now’ moment. Are the Clippers mentally and spiritually ready to push their game to the next level? Do you believe in the Jazz & Suns, with lots more playoff talk to dissect. I’ll get into Alex Rodriguez teaming up to purchase the T’Wolves. The Hall of Fame Ceremony with induction to Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan and the late, Kobe Bryant. As well as, next years class highlighted by Paul Pierce, Chris Bosh, Ben Wallace and Chris Webber. Let the debate begin. Is C-Webb a Hall of Famer? I’ll tell you why he isn’t!

(40:00) The Stanley Cup Playoffs have begun. The storylines aren’t aplenty as they are in the NBA, but with the Penguins losing Game 1 in OT yesterday, is their psyche taking a huge hit for their recent playoff failures? Will the Lightning-Panthers series be as advertised? After one game, it sure is. I’ll preview the other series that haven’t gotten underway, border restrictions for the Canadian team that makes it to the Cup Semifinals and more housecleaning at Madison Square Garden as David Quinn was dismissed as coach. Was it fair?

(55:18) Has the first quarter of the MLB season been lackluster? I’ll dive into the latest headlines, including, the Jarred Kelenic era opening in Seattle over the weekend.

(1:05:30) I’ll share my thoughts on the NFL schedule. Brady vs. the Patriots on October 3rd. Who has the hardest schedule in the league? Some of the Sunday night/Monday night docket and Tim Tebow is NOT to blame for him being signed to play TE in Jacksonville. You won’t want to miss that.

(1:21:34) Medina Spirit doesn’t get the job done as he finishes third in the Preakness. Will there be any buzz at the Belmont Stakes in three weeks? Probably not, but I have two instances where that could change.

(1:24:30) I’ll preview the second golf major of the year as the PGA is on the horizon. Who will be the one player I’ll keep an eye on in a stacked field? Will Brooks Koepka regain his PGA winning ways? Also, my prediction as to who will win?

(1:28:01) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week!

Is Pujols Done? No-Hitters Not Special? Lakers/Celtics: Play-In Participants? Westbrook's Record Noteworthy? Leafs Cup Pressure? NFL Sked Prediction. Derby Horse Dirty For Preakness?

Kicking up the sports talk intensity another notch as there’s LOT to dive into as Episode 193 is served! On deck:

(6:15) Is this the end for future Hall of Famer Albert Pujols? I’ll dissect the dominant first baseman’s career and will he latch onto another team? Also, have no-hitters become the norm? I have a theory that may explain why pitchers are besting hitters just six weeks into the season. Plus, the disastrous Dodgers and a topsy turvy week for the Mets (fired hitting coaches, Jacob deGrom’s injury and rats? Or raccoons?)

(30:40) The NBA heads into the final week of the regular season. Could it be that both the Lakers and Celtics are preparing to be in the play-in tournament? With a hobbled LeBron James, why I think the Lakers may not be long for the postseason? And the Celtics woes may have them OUT of the postseason before it really gets started. What about Coach Brad Stevens? Is he on the hot seat? I’ll share some thoughts on that, as well as, what to make of Russell Westbrook’s tying Oscar Robertson’s all time triple double record? Is it noteworthy? Or a complete afterthought?

(52:31) The NHL season has completed. Well, sort of. I’ll get into the latest as the league gets set for another postseason run to the Stanley Cup. is this the year for the Toronto Maple Leafs and their Cup starved fans? And the aftermath at the Garden where the Rangers not only release their VP of Hockey Operations and GM, but receive a hefty fine in the process and the players have to stick up for one another because of Capitals winger, Tom Wilson’s physical play and subsequent fight filled rematch two nights later.

(1:10:00) The NFL schedule will be released on Wednesday. I’ll predict who’ll play the Buccaneers on the Opening Thursday night of the new year AND when the highly anticipated meeting of Brady vs. Belichick in Foxborough this fall will take place? I’ll have the latest on the Aaron Rodgers saga in Green Bay (as he takes a page out of the NBA Player Empowerment Handbook)

(1:19:16) The Preakness and Horse Racing takes a tremendous hit as Kentucky Derby winner, Medina Spirit, tests positive for an anti-inflammatory steroid. Will he be stripped of his victory? If not, what does this mean for the second leg of the Triple Crown come Saturday? Lots to unpack here as the details become dirty by the day.
