A Yankee Jumpstart With Unlikely Comeback? Aaron Rodgers Regurgitated Narrative Ends Here! NBA's X-mas Day Schedule Conflict With NFL. Giannis Plays Chicago? LeBron Re-ups With LA. Tiger PGA Pow-Wow

The sports world has generated some interesting storylines over the past few days and I'm here to share my thoughts as I have some things to get off of my chest. On deck:

(4:36) The Yankees were on the brink of not only being swept, but unable to scratch a run as they've been anemic offensively of late, had a miraculous comeback to salvage the final game against the Rays. Will this be the kick in the rear that they desperately need in order to get out of their malaise over the past month? Across town, the Mets scuffled a bit over the first two games in Atlanta as they try to gain ground in the NL East. Max Scherzer gutted out a start interrupted by rain and hung on to win 9-7, with Jacob deGrom on deck in the series finale tonight. Can they gain the two games back that they lost from the Braves. Also, former Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard ducking his former ballclub again? I'll keep you abreast of what the latest is in the pennant races in both the AL & NL, a World Series rematch from last year (Atlanta vs. Houston) highlights the weekend schedule. While the Texas Rangers not only fired their manager (Chris Woodward) earlier this week, but also their longtime GM, Jon Daniels was ousted. Where will Daniels possibly end up next? Flushing, maybe?

(23:35) Yours truly is tired of the regurgitated narratives regarding Aaron Rodgers. For now, hopefully I can put some of this to rest, considering other outlets and debate shows can't let it go. Chargers safety, Derwin James signs the largest contract in league history for his position. Will his past health issues pop up impact this extension? No surprise who's at the top of the preseason college football rankings (Alabama) Will this upcoming season be as predictable as ever?

(31:42) The NBA has released their schedule. Of course, Christmas Day is what everyone has circled to see who'll matchup over the five games. But with three NFL games that day, will anyone watch? Giannis Antetokoumpo has a thing for playing in Chicago, but for the Bulls? LeBron James gets a two year extension to remain in LA with the Lakers. Did that come as a surprise? And the sad passing of longtime NBA assistant and college head coach, Pete Carril, who passed away at 92.

(43:40) Tiger Woods has rallied his fellow brethren on the PGA Tour to discuss the LIV Golf League, the history of the PGA, integrity, among other things. Was this meeting successful for the 20-25 players that attended?

Tatis Jr's. Suspension A Big Hit To SD's Series Chances? Jet Fans Exhale On QB Wilson's Knee. Deshaun Watson's Apology. Too Little, Too Late? Surprise At Top Of NBA Over/Unders. Tyson Fury Walks Away

The middle of August brings another passion filled, action packed podcast as I delve in on a couple of interesting topics to rev up your sports engine. On deck:

(4:33) Fernando Tatis Jr. surprised baseball as MLB handed down an 80 game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Will his absence hurt or help the Padres as they're in the middle of a heated wild card race? I'll go through the entire landscape and discuss the fight for the AL Central (Guardians, Twins, White Sox), NL Central (Cardinals & Brewers), NL East (as the Mets and Braves square off for four games in Atlanta) The Dodgers have their 12 game winning streak snapped and the Yankees are scuffling as they come off of a 2-7 road trip. Plus, the latest in the wild card as Tampa Bay did a nice job rebounding from a series opening loss to Baltimore to win the back two and almost had a perfect game pitched by Drew Rasmussen.

(24:53) The Jet fan can breathe the ultimate sigh of relief as their franchise QB, Zach Wilson will only miss 2-4 weeks after suffering a knee injury vs. Philadelphia on Friday night. It was feared that he tore his ACL, which would've had him out for the season, but for now, Wilson is on target to make a speedy recovery. If he's not quite 100%, do you want to see him out there Week 1 vs. Baltimore? Then there's Deshaun Watson. He issued an apology before the first preseason game in Jacksonville on Friday. Is it a case of 'too little, too late'? Also, my defense of this whole scenario as people have been getting at me being judge, jury and executioner for someone who wasn't guilty in a criminal case. I'll have a thorough explanation as to why he needs to be suspended for more than the six games that was handed to him a few weeks back.

(40:17) An early look at the NBA over/under win totals have been released. I was quite shocked to see who was listed at the top of the list. It wasn't the Lakers, Nets, Suns or even the champs in the Warriors. If you don't know, you'll have to listen and hear for yourself.

(44:48) Boxing’s heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, walks away from the sport at the age of 34. Do you think this is it? Or will we see him sometime down the road? I’ll get into how the title ‘heavyweight champion of the world’ has fallen so far from our sports consciousness it isn’t even funny.

No Field Of Dreams Buzz! BAL/CLE Make Strides In AL Playoff Race. Watson's Lengthy Suspension Looming? KD's Ultimatum & Behavior? Isles Trading Barzal? Serena's Evolution. Cam Smith: LIV Bound?

I may be a day late, but the fire and passion comes through loud and clear as I deliver all that's happening in the world of sports. On deck:

(4:43) The second version of the "Field of Dreams" Game takes place in Iowa as the Cubs & Reds meet up. Did baseball drop the ball on promoting it? As for the latest pennant races, the Baltimore Orioles have really played well as they're putting pressure on Tampa Bay and Toronto. The Guardians have taken over first place in the AL Central. The Astros currently have the best record in the AL overtaking the Yankees. How important is it for the Bronx Bombers to reclaim their stake with the best record come October? The Mets have an interesting stretch of games upcoming. The Cardinals are in first place with the Brewers coming to town to battle it out for the NL Central lead. And Juan Soto will make his return to DC as the Padres will play the Nationals over the weekend.

(21:18) Deshaun Watson is scheduled to start in the first preseason game in Jacksonville. Will the league extend his suspension from the current six games that was handed down to him before his takes his first snap? The Jets suffer a huge injury to their offensive line as Mekhi Becton is done for the year.

(26:43) Kevin Durant has thrown down the gauntlet to Nets ownership, saying it's 'my way or the highway". Owner Joe Tsai is backing up his GM & coach (Sean Marks and Steve Nash) as was reported. Is KD out of line for such an ultimatum? Was this unexpected coming from a guy who just wants to play ball and not get wrapped up in this type of drama? Also, the league will honor Bill Russell by retiring the #6 across the NBA. Was this distinction warranted? Contrived?

(35:58) Some NHL news has come down the pike with a few signings (Jonathan Huberdeau's eight year contract in Calgary, and teammate Andrew Mangiapane. Boston's Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci). Sad news as Hall of Famer, Borje Salming announced he has ALS and the Islanders are thinking of the possibility of trading young star, Mathew Barzal so they can sign free agent, Nazem Kadri?

(40:55) Serena Williams is getting close to her "evolution" as the US Open is a little more than two weeks away. I'll discuss if she has an Open run in her as she begins to say goodbye on an illustrious career.

(43:52) It's been reported that Cam Smith, #2 golfer in the world and winner of The Open at St. Andrews last month, is the latest to transition over to the LIV Golf League. Did he? Or didn't he?

Mets Take Control Of NL East! Better Than The Dodgers? Division & Wild Card Race Update. NFL Preseason, 2022 HOF Class, Stafford's Elbow, Kareem Hunt Wants Out Of CLE. Britney Griner Saga.

Getting you through the hot days of summer as I heat up the airwaves with fast paced sports talk unlike any other. On deck:

(4:27) The Mets put it on a Braves team that have been nipping at their heels over the past month in the NL East. They won 4 out of 5 over the weekend and have extended their division lead to 6.5 games. I’ll discuss the contributions by their aces Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom, the rebirth of Edwin Diaz, an MVP caliber season from Pete Alonso and are they better than the Dodgers in the National League? I’ll get into the Cardinals big stretch that has them in first place after sweeping the Yankees. Speaking of the Yankees, how their tailspin (9-16 in their last 25 games) should be a bit concerning as they've cooled off considerably after a torrid May & June. Plus, everything else that's happening in the division and wild card races as we push toward the middle of the month of this baseball season.

(29:40) The NFL preseason is underway as the Jaguars and Raiders re-introduced football to the American consciousness. Did I watch? How about the 2022 Hall of Fame Class festivities? In fact, I have to explain why this group didn’t move the needle for me, but it’s an indictment on those who chose these finalists than the finalists’ themselves. There’s been some intriguing storylines in the sport. Matthew Stafford’s elbow in LA with the Rams and Kareem Hunt wants out of Cleveland, but the Browns aren’t willing to do so.

(38:10) Brittney Griner was sentenced to nine years in a Russian prison for possession of cannabis. Will the verdict possibly be a catalyst to bringing her back to the States? If so, how soon?

Padres Win Soto Sweepstakes, Yanks Wheeling, Dodgers Not Dealing Highlight Deadline. NFL vs. NFLPA: League Appeals Watson's Suspension. Tiger Turns Down $800M? Mickelson Leads Lawsuit Against PGA

The sports stove has a few things percolating as we're into a new month. I'll serve up a high dosage of what you need as the latest episode has arrived. On deck:

(4:30) Coming off of an epic MLB trade deadline, I'll dissect the blockbuster trade by San Diego bringing in Juan Soto to their ballclub. Could the Padres possibly have three players worth over a BILLION dollars in contracts at the same time? What about the Yankees and how they've added to their roster? Also, what could plague them come October? The Dodgers weren't big time players in making transactions to solidify a couple of key spots on their team. I'll break down what some of the other playoff contenders have done, go through both leagues wild card scenarios, a division battle set this weekend between the Braves & Mets. A tribute to a broadcasting legend, Vin Scully. And thoughts on the last two episodes of The Captain, the ESPN documentary on Derek Jeter, that you may find intriguing.

(39:47) Deshaun Watson's suspension has finally come down to where an arbiter handed down six games for him to sit out at the start of the 2022 season. Thing is, the NFL has appealed that the suspension should be harsher. The Players Association was hoping that the league would've stood pat. Will this be a fight to the bitter end? How much will Watson get when it's all said and done? The Miami Dolphins were docked a first round draft pick next year, fined and their owner, Stephen Ross, was suspended for tampering violations against Tom Brady and former Saints coach, Sean Payton. Was this penalty warranted?

(48:15) In an interview this week, Greg Norman shouted out Tiger Woods as he allegedly passed up $700-$800 million from the LIV Golf Tour. Is Tiger in the wrong for not jumping to where the money is? Speaking of LIV, Phil Mickelson, among nine other golfers. are filing an antitrust lawsuit against the PGA so they can play in the upcoming FedEx Cup Playoffs. How will the PGA handle this now and moving forward?

Remembering The Life Of Bill Russell. MLB Trade Deadline: Will Soto Or Ohtani Get Moved? DK & Deebo Get Paid, But Will They Produce? Deshaun Watson Ruling On Deck. UFC's Nunes Get Revenge vs. Pena

A new week. A new month, means a new podcast as I have some thoughts to share on the latest and greatest in the world of sports. On deck:

(2:52) There's still some time to go, but now that we're officially into the month of August, we can see more sports coming up on the horizon. Whether it's college football, the US Open Tennis or even the exhibition season of the NFL, we're slowly but surely drawing closer to breaking out of this Sports Dead Zone, Pt. 2 and onto the fall and winter sports seasons.

(6:16) I'll commemorate the brilliance and overall champion of the life that was Celtics legend, Bill Russell, who passed away at the age of 88.

(16:37) The MLB Trade Deadline is tomorrow at 3pm. We've already seen a major player sent packing (Reds pitcher, Luis Castillo to Seattle), but will we see Juan Soto or Shohei Ohtani jettisoned in the next 24 hours? I'll state why that won't be the case? Plus, an up to the minute division and wild card breakdown in each league, where they stand as we turn the calendar to another month and the season debut of Mets pitcher, Jacob deGrom, tomorrow night in Washington. Am I optimistic that he'll remain healthy for the rest of the year?

(38:50) NFL Training Camps are in full swing and two wide receivers got paid over the past week. DK Metcalf of the Seahawks and Deebo Samuel of the 49ers are locked in for the next three years. With both players getting paid up to 73 million dollars, will their production in the coming year, justify the contracts they signed up for? Also, Kyler Murray spoke and the Cardinals front office listened as they've scrapped the film study mandate for the franchise QB. And a ruling is scheduled to come down on how long will Deshaun Watson be suspended for violating the personal conduct policy. (NOTE: After recording, a six game suspension was handed down to Watson. Please check my Instagram account for my instant reaction https://www.instagram.com/thejayreelzpodcast/?hl=en)

(49:23) UFC's Amanda Nunes regains the bantamweight title from Julianna Pena as she gets her revenge from a loss to her seven months prior, in dominating fashion. Will there be another rematch between the two down the road?

Mets Ride Subway To Sweep Of Yankees. Lack Of Drama In AL/NL Wild Card Pursuit. Kyler Murray's Game Film Mandate? USA's Offer To Russia For Britney Griner's Release. Jayson Tatum On KD Talk To Boston

Closing out another month with nothing but rapid fire opinions and analysis on everything that's going on in the world of sports. I got you covered with all of the latest and greatest. On deck:

(4:42) Subway Series Round 1 goes to the New York Mets as they complete a two game sweep of their crosstown rivals, the Yankees. I'll break down the key contributors to the Mets victories, the possible return of Jacob deGrom, the Yankees trade for an outfielder (which means the likely end for Joey Gallo) as they move on to the next series before their second encounter next month at Yankee Stadium. I'll take a peek on what developed over the last few days (i.e., the Astros get SWEPT by the A's? The Blue Jays winning streak gets snapped. A big game for the Orioles vs. Tampa Bay to keep themselves in the AL Wild Card mix. The Red Sox free fall. Some separation in the NL Wild Card race as the Giants have plummeted below .500. Is it out of the question that it's set up for a potential not-too-thrilling pennant race during the rest of the regular season? I'll explain in great detail as we approach the dog days of August. I'll also share some thoughts on the first two parts of the Derek Jeter ESPN documentary, The Captain, as we take a brief trip down memory lane on the legendary Yankee shortstop.

(30:25) NFL Training Camps are in full effect as the season commences six weeks from today. Kyler Murray has a clause in his contract where it's mandated for him to watch four hours of game film a week. Why is this the case? Who is policing this? I'll discuss this disaster set forth by the Arizona Cardinals and also get into Julio Jones's new home (remember him?) as he's a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

(39:20) The current administration in the US has made an offer to Russia in order to bring back WNBA star, Britney Griner. Will this be executed seamlessly? Could this happen sooner? Or later? Plus, Celtics forward Jayson Tatum made a comment about the teams recent talks with the Brooklyn Nets regarding the services of Kevin Durant. I'll throw in my two cents on that as this topic is near and dear to my heart.

SEA, BOS, PHI & SF Flounder Out Of All-Star Break. HOU: Baseball's Best Team? Kyler Gets Paid. Is Lamar Jackson On Deck? NHL's Blockbuster Tkachuk/Huberdeau Trade. Kevin Durant To Boston?

The summer heat has been intense over the past week. The same could be said when yours truly will turn the temperature up even higher as I delve into what the sports world has to offer on this latest edition of the podcast. On deck:

(4:18) Baseball picks up from where it left off before the All-Star Break as the 'second half' of the season begins. There were some interesting storylines with teams that we've kept an eye on, in particular, the Mariners laying a dud vs. the Astros after winning 14 in a row. The Astros gunning for the title of the best team in the sport? The Red Sox floundering. Can they be sellers at the trade deadline? The Orioles monster series vs. the Rays after losing 4 of 6 since their 10 game winning streak. The Phillies were embarrassed by the Cubs at home with the Braves looming in their next series. The Giants were a no show in LA as they were swept in four games. And then, there are the Mets. Any concern as they're slowly losing their grip on first place? Could they be in second place after their series against the Yankees? All of the above, plus the latest wild card races in the AL & NL as we inch closer to the dog days of August.

(31:54) Kyler Murray signs a huge extension with the Arizona Cardinals, to no one's surprise, but what about Lamar Jackson as the Ravens seem to be half-stepping on an extension with their former MVP? Will he get signed before the season begins? As for the college circuit, national champion coach, Kirby Smart of Georgia signs a 10 year/112 million dollar contract? Is that insane for a college coach? Also, where is Jimmy Garoppolo going now that Cleveland has inked both Josh Rosen and AJ McCarron to their roster?

(42:52) There was a blockbuster trade in the NHL as the Calgary Flames send Matthew Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers for Jonathan Huberdeau, players and a lottery protected first round pick in 2025. Does this make the Panthers a favorite in the East? Does Tkachuk change the culture of a team that won the President's Trophy last year?

(47:28) Are the Celtics really engaging in discussions for Kevin Durant? Why is this a possibility? I'll explain why I'm not in favor of bringing him onto the team. (CORRECTION: I mentioned that if a trade between the Nets and Celtics were to take place that the Celtics will give up their first round picks in 2025, '27 & '29. NOT '15, '17 & '19 like I mentioned. My apologies for the gaffe.)

Another Forgetful MLB HR Derby & All-Star Game/Second Half Preview. ESPY's: Who's Watching? Jimmy G On The Move To Cleveland? Harden Re-ups With 76ers. Can He Turn Back The Clock?

Summer is heating up. Which isn't the case throughout the sports landscape, but there are some things to discuss as yours truly, will deliver the latest and greatest on what's happening. On deck:

(4:14) As I mentioned, with not much going on in the sports universe, baseball saves the day as I'll recap a laborious Home Run Derby on Monday night, a lackluster All-Star Game and why it has become such a slog to watch? More importantly, we turn our attention to the 'second half' of the season as I'll breakdown all of the divisions, the wild card races, who's in prime position to make it to the dance and who'll be on the outside looking in as we get started on the race to October baseball throughout the rest of the summer.

(34:39) I'll spend literally a minute or so on the ESPY's which was broadcast last night.

(36:15) NFL training camps will open up next week. News coming out of San Francisco is that the 49ers have granted permission for Jimmy Garoppolo to seek a trade. Where will he end up? Is Cleveland the obvious destination? I'll also spend a moment on the passing of former Steelers #1 pick, wide receiver Charles Johnson at the age of 50.

(41:25) James Harden has signed an extension to stay with 76ers and provide some relief to their cap. The focus will be on redeeming himself over the last couple of years with the decline of his play. Will he be able to resurrect his career to where it was in Houston and deliver a title to Philadelphia?

Nats Soto Declines $440M. What's Next? MLB Recap. HR Derby/AS Game Must Watch? Rory Good, Cam Smith Better In Open Win. Tiger Done? Ayton Stays In PHX. Devils Dealing, Islanders Standing Pat?

With a heatwave on the way here in the Northeast this coming week, your speakers or earbuds will feel the affect as I'll keep the airwaves sizzling with sports talk unlike any other. On deck:

(4:17) The All-Star Break has arrived in baseball as Los Angeles will be the backdrop for the Home Run Derby and the game itself over the next couple of days. A huge story coming out of the weekend was Juan Soto declining a 15 year, $440 million dollar contract from the Nationals. Does this all fall on the shoulders of Soto? What would a team have to trade in order to procure his services? I'll do a deep dive on this topic, and of course, the mastermind behind this being his agent, Scott Boras. I'll recap the past weekend in the sport (i.e. Mariners win streak at 14, Orioles & Red Sox slide, Yankees pitching rotation loss and affect on their staff, Mets status quo in the NL East and more) Plus, my thoughts on the Derby and the All-Star Game as I share my experience of witnessing one in person nine years ago. To close out, I'll get into the ESPN Derek Jeter docu-series that begins tonight. How much should we expect from the Yankee great to open up about his life and career? I'll explain in detail.

(33:30) Rory McIlroy was staring at his first major tournament win in eight years, but Cam Smith was brilliant down the stretch to claim his first ever Grand slam victory at The Open in St. Andrews. Did Smith win? Or did Rory lose? Also, Tiger Woods did not make the cut as he became emotional walking up toward the 18th hole on Friday. Could this be the beginning of the end for the all time great? Is retirement a possibility?

(44:41) The Phoenix Suns match the offer sheet by the Indiana Pacers, paying him $133 million dollars over the next four years. Despite the Suns putting their money where their mouths are, were they reluctant to do so?

(49:00) NHL free agency has quieted down, but the Devils have made a couple of key moves (defenseman John Marino and winger Ondrej Palat) to bolster their roster and chances to bring respectability to the franchise. While the Islanders have stood pat, remained silent (besides acquiring a defenseman from the Canadiens) and has yours truly wondering which direction the organization is going!?

Mets Resourcefulness, Mariners/Orioles: AL Wild Card Contenders? NHL Free Agency/Penguins Reunite Trio. Why? Tiger Backs PGA As The Open Begins. Jazz's Mitchell On The Move? Heinz Field RIP!

Zooming into the middle of July with another fast paced, action packed sports talk podcast for your edification. On deck:

(4:27) As we approach the final weekend before the All-Star Break, the Mets made some small waves by winning a big series in Atlanta and taking an extra game in the standings to Chicago. I'll breakdown their resourcefulness to this point, the year Edwin Diaz is having, Seth Lugo trending south and if the front office will work the phones starting next week to bring in reinforcements for the stretch run. The Blue Jays have languished as they fired their manager, Charlie Montoyo. Will that jumpstart them to meet their expectations prior to the start of the season? Break up both the Mariners and Orioles as they're both in the midst of ten game winning streaks. Do they have what it takes to keep themselves in the thick of things for the AL Wild Card? I'll preview what the schedule looks like over the next three days as the Home Run Derby and Midsummer Classic is on deck right after that.

(24:06) The NHL offseason has started with a flurry as free agency has arrived. Not only will I cover who's on the move, who stood pat but dissect why I wouldn't have reunited the long standing trio of Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin of the Pittsburgh Penguins for another run at a Stanley Cup?

(34:34) The final golf major of the year has teed off at The Open in St. Andrews. I'll get into what the conditions may be like on the other side of the pond. Who may come out on top? And delve into Tiger Woods's comments on players leaving for the LIV Golf League and what he still means to the Tour overall?

(42:00) The Utah Jazz are willing to listen to offers for star guard, Donovan Mitchell. Should there be a buyer beware? Not because of the player, but the GM (Danny Ainge) and his shrewd business savvy? Will the Knicks be a possibility to bring 'Spida' to the Garden?

(46:11) Heinz Field in Pittsburgh is no more! How these name changes to stadiums has me exasperated beyond belief?

Mets-Braves Showdown. One Yankee Concern From Fenway? Novak Wins Wimbledon, But No To US Open? NHL Draft Surprise At #1? NFL History In Vegas With Sandra Morgan Hire

A new day. A new week means a new podcast, but the same passion and fire as I deliver all that the sports world has to offer on this latest edition. On deck:

(4:04) The showdown in the NL East is about to begin. The Mets and Braves meet up for three huge games down in Atlanta starting tonight, with the Mets holding a 1.5 lead in the division. How will this play out? Which team does this series means the most to? I'll have a preview. The Yankees come out of Boston with a split of a four game set. I'll dissect what's the one thing we've learned over the weekend about the Bombers and how it could play an enormous factor, not only down the stretch of the regular season, but more importantly, the postseason. I'll take a lay of the MLB land and get into the Rays and Blue Jays recent stumble and the Dodgers resurgence, among other things as we're one week away from the All-Star Break.

(29:39) Wimbledon, tennis's third leg of the Grand Slam has officially completed. Elena Rybarkina is your surprise winner on the women's side. There's been a hint of controversy surrounding her win because players from Russia were banned for the tournament, but she represents another nation despite being born in Moscow. I'll explain further. Then there's Novak Djokovic winning his fourth Wimbledon in a row, seventh overall and 21st Grand Slam Final over Nick Kyrgios. Djokovic has gone on record stating that he doesn't anticipate playing in the US Open. How come? Also, how does Kyrgios perform moving forward now that he's made it to a Grand Slam Final?

(38:03) The NHL Draft had a little surprise at the top where the hometown host Montreal Canadiens, expected to take Shane Wright as their #1 choice, pivoted and chose Juraj Slafkovsky instead. Were the fans in the building elated by the selection? The Blackhawks were wheeling and dealing over the past few days sending a few players and draft picks as it looks as if they're in rebuild mode. Will Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane be next? Quite a few goaltenders were moved (i.e. Alexander Georgiev, Ville Husso and Vitek Vanecek) as well. Now, free agency looms over the sport as Wednesday will be the first day teams can spend on players like Evgeni Malkin, PK Subban, Phil Kessel, Claude Giroux, Johnny Gaudreau and many more as the offseason is in full swing.

(47:07) James Harden takes a pay cut to stay in Philadelphia as they look to add free agent PJ Tucker to the squad. How will he shape up when training camp comes around? Damien Lillard gets an extension to stay in Portland. He felt that if he were to go elsewhere, it wouldn't be fulfilling, when it comes to winning a championship. As commendable as it is for him to do so, the likelihood of that happening is slim and none.

(50:53) Sandra Douglas Morgan and the Las Vegas Raiders made history as she was hired by the team to be the president of the franchise. What this could possibly mean for all of sports moving forward?

Yanks/Sox Renew Rivalry, Mets-Braves On Deck, White Sox Inconsistency Highlight MLB, Nadal Injury Impacts Wimbledon. Baker's Future In Carolina. NHL Draft/Historic Mike Grier GM Hire In San Jose

With the holiday fireworks and celebration behind us, the sports world is always present as I’ll break down ALL that’s taking place throughout the landscape. On deck:

(3:59) Baseball is just about at or a smidge past the halfway point of the season. Some interesting storylines from the week, leading into the weekend are as follows. The Yankees and Red Sox renew their rivalry for four games in Fenway. Considering the Yankees enormous lead in the AL East (14 games as of today), should we as fans pay any attention to this showdown? What could this mean for the Red Sox as they're battling for second place in a division that has them, the Rays and Blue Jays separated by a half game? I'll get into the return of Max Scherzer, the impending showdown between the Mets-Braves in the NL East. The White Sox unable to get on track (and will they do so at any point?) at home vs. the Twins. The recent skids of the Cardinals and Padres. I'll even get into my over/under win totals and where they stand as we're about ten days away from the All-Star Game.

(27:44) Wimbledon is close to crowning champions for both the men and women as a developing storyline could impact the men's side of the bracket. Rafael Nadal had to labor an abdominal injury as he defeated Taylor Fritz. As of now, he's scheduled to perform in his semifinal match vs. Nick Kyrgios, but will he be able to persevere and set himself up to win his third Grand Slam this year?

(35:12) Baker Mayfield finally gets his wish as the Browns send him to Carolina for a mid conditional draft pick in 2024. Will he thrive and resurrect his career with the Panthers?

(40:31) The NHL Draft takes place in Montreal tonight. Are there any generational players to look out for? Also, there was a historic hiring by the San Jose Sharks as long time player, Mike Grier is the first person of color to become a general manager in the sport.

Durant Or Nets To Blame For Fallout In BK? Another Ainge Fleecing? Padres Spoil Dodger Sweep At Midway Point Of MLB Season. Swiatek Ousted/Kyrgios Antics At Wimbledon. USC/UCLA To Big Ten!

There will be plenty of fireworks and grill marks as I take a peek at the entire sports landscape here on the latest holiday edition of the podcast. On deck:

(4:44) There was plenty of wheeling and dealing in the NBA over the past week, with supermax deals handed out left and right (i.e. Nikola Jokic, Devin Booker, Zion Williamson, to name a few) but the big story was Kevin Durant requesting to be traded from the Brooklyn Nets. Who's to blame in all of this? Is it KD? The Nets? I'll have a full commentary on all of this, especially what the hierarchy of the Nets should do, if they haven't done so already, in order to keep the peace and rebuild their relationships with KD & Kyrie. The other newsworthy note in the Association was the Timberwolves trading a boatload of players and #1 picks to Utah for Rudy Gobert. Was this deal too expensive for the Timberwolves blood? Is Gobert even a good fit with this roster? I'll also share my thoughts on the Celtics shrewd deal to bring in Malcolm Brogdon from the Pacers. Although it comes with a caveat that is concerning.

(31:27) We're just about at the halfway mark of the baseball season. The All-Star Break is two weeks away. The Dodgers squandered a golden opportunity for a four game sweep of the rival Padres, but San Diego saved face as they beat up closer, Craig Kimbrel. The White Sox are looking to make a push as they come off of a sweep in San Francisco with a home date with the division leading Twins. I'll tell you what's going on in the NL Central. The Mets and Braves are a week away from re-acquainting themselves during this 2022 season. The AL East is a logjam after the first place Yankees and the Astros are in another stratosphere at the moment as the hottest team in the sport as I dissect both leagues to see where we're at about 81 games into the schedule.

(42:16) Wimbledon is into its second week of competition. The stunning news from the tournament was Iga Swiatek having her 37 match streak snapped against Alize Cornet on the women's side. Also, Coco Gauff has lost, leaving the possibility of Harmony Tan (who beat Serena Williams last week) to become the Cinderella at the All England Club. On the men's side, Carlos Alcaraz will not have a date with Novak Djokovic, but it's Jannik Sinner (CORRECTION: I said Skinner during the pod, not Sinner. My apologies for the error) who has that distinction. The guy who's making most of the headlines is Nick Kyrgios, who's temperament and attitude was the story of the weekend. Is he all bark and no bite? Can he make his way to the final?

(48:09) Both USC & UCLA will pack their bags and join the Big 10 in 2024. What does this mean for the PAC-12? Will there be a merger of conferences down the road? Is this the beginning of the end for the sport on a whole?

(53:43) The NHL Draft and free agency is upcoming. The impact is already taking place in Tampa Bay as they had to free up money and make a tough move by trading defenseman Ryan McDonagh to the Nashville Predators. I'll also get into the Class of 2022 Hall of Fame as the Sedin twins (Daniel & Henrik), Roberto Luongo and Daniel Alfredsson will be enshrined in Toronto. Why I feel none of the above are worthy of being Hall of Famers.

(59:59) Branden Grace makes history by becoming the first player to win a LIV Golf Event in the US. Did anyone watch? Does anyone care?

NBA Opt-Ins, Opt-Outs, Trades & Free Agency Begins. Mets Ugly Loss. The Real Reason Behind Freeman's Departure To LA. The End For Serena? Baker Mayfield Moving On?

As we say goodbye to June and usher in the holiday weekend, there's still quite a bit to dissect in the world of sports as I'll share my thoughts and opinions on all that's happening! On deck:

(4:05) NBA free agency begins tonight at 6pm. You've already had some players opt-in to their current deals (i.e. Kyrie Irving, Russell Westbrook) opt-out (i.e. James Harden, Bradley Beal) and a John Wall buyout in Houston as he heads to LA to play for the Clippers. I'll discuss their situations, the big trade between the Hawks and Spurs for Dejounte Murray, the Knicks impending signing of Jalen Brunson and much more as we gear up for some wheeling and dealing in the Association over the next week or so.

(22:10) My beloved Mets have hit a bit of a tough stretch, including an awful loss yesterday as they were swept again by the Astros. I'll explain why I'm not happy with their latest defeat and how the Braves are putting the pressure on the Mets in the NL East. Also, we found out the REAL reason why Freddie Freeman did not re-sign with Atlanta in the off-season. I'll recap the aftermath of the Mariners-Angels brawl and the suspensions handed down where 12 players and coaches were affected. I'll get into some series concluding (Guardians-Twins) and beginning (Padres-Dodgers) as we inch closer to the halfway point of the season.

(38:26) Wimbledon has been mostly chalk for the most part. The big match of the week was Serena Williams losing to Harmony Tan in an epic match on Tuesday. Is this the beginning of the end for the all-time great?

(44:10) Baker Mayfield has made a declaration to the Browns organization as he feels it's time to move on and that they haven't reconciled with him, in light of the acquisition of Deshaun Watson. Is he wrong?

(49:19) There's a LIV Golf Event taking place in Portland, Oregon starting today. Is anyone watching? Does anyone care?

Avalanche Wins Cup! A Dynasty On Deck? NBA Draft: Magic/Pistons Upside. Knicks Deafening Silence. Astros Measuring Stick vs. NY/Judge's Big Payday! Wimbledon Preview. Ready For NFL Training Camp?

Another sports season ends, but the sports world still has quite a bit to discuss as I'll get into the latest and greatest of what's happening. On deck:

(4:04) The Sports Dead Zone Pt. 2 is upon us. Now that the fall and winter sports have concluded, I'll zero in on what the next couple of months will look like in the sports landscape as we get you through the summer to the football season in early September.

(7:14) The Colorado Avalanche has exorcised some playoff demons by winning the Stanley Cup Finals dethroning the two time defending champion, Tampa Bay Lightning. With their core of Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog and Cale Makar, do the Avalanche have what it takes to build a championship dynasty over the next few years? What about the Lightning? Can they get back to the Cup at this time next year? I'll answer those questions and give a review on the Stanley Cup Playoffs on a whole as we say goodbye to hockey until the fall.

(21:35) The NBA Draft wasn't much to write home about. Although I like what both Orlando did (selecting Paolo Banchero and what direction they're heading with a group of good young players) and Detroit (picking Jaden Ivey and trading for Jalen Duren in the first round). My biggest concern, or in this case GRIPE, is what the Knicks aren't doing and it falls at the feet of their front office! This is a commentary that you won't want to miss as I dissect the silence and ineptitude of team president, Leon Rose and VP, William Wesley.

(39:16) The Houston Astros have an interesting stretch to where they're playing both the Mets and Yankees over the course of ten days. After six games, with three more to go this week, how did they stock up to the best in both the National and American League? I'll get into the heroics of Aaron Judge this season and what his potential free agent contract could look like for the Yankees? The return of Freddie Freeman to Atlanta, the injury suffered by Bryce Harper who is out indefinitely with a broken thumb. The Guardians lose grip of the AL Central. The Red Sox rise in the AL and much more as baseball will be front and center as we get deeper into the summer.

(51:40) Wimbledon kicks off the third Grand Slam of the calender this year today. I'll preview both the men's and women's side. Will we see another Novak Djokovic-Rafael Nadal matchup for the title? What can we expect from Serena Williams as we'll see her on the court at a major tournament for the first time in quite a while?

(56:03) NFL Training Camps are less than a month away. Is yours truly ready for some football? I'll get into that and another Manning (i.e. Peyton & Eli's nephew, Arch) makes his announcement as to what university he'll suit up for in the fall of 2023.

(59:47) My Hero and Zero of the Week is on hiatus. I'll explain.

Avalanche's Quest For Cup! Are The Lightning Finished? NBA Draft: Top 4 & Nothing More? Kyrie's Contract Saga. Astros Litmus Test vs. NY. Koepka's Leap To LIV. Watson's Settlements. What's Next?

Summer is officially in full effect and so is the mid-week podcast as I share my thoughts, opinions and analysis on all that's happening in the world of sports. On deck:

(3:28) It's coming, people. Sadly, The Sports Dead Zone Pt. 2 is on the horizon. I'll share an early thought on that.

(4:47) We may have a Stanley Cup Champion crowned as early as tomorrow night. The Colorado Avalanche won a gutty Game 4 after being blitzed by the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 3. Now they head back home to Denver to see if they can hoist the Cup for the first time in 21 years. Will they seal the deal? Or does the Lightning have enough thunder to extend the series past Friday night. There were a couple of new head coaching hires in Dallas and Florida that I'll discuss as well.

(15:42) The NBA season may be through, but the offseason has just begun. The Draft will take place this evening as I go through the top four picks (and not much after that) as I explain in great detail. Also, the latest in the Kyrie Irving saga as he and the organization are at an impasse when it comes to a contract extension. Where does he go? Does he stay put in Brooklyn? Are the Knicks a possibility?

(30:38) This is a big week for the Houston Astros as they play a stretch of nine straight games against the New York teams. They've already beaten the Mets in Houston over the first two games. Now a big four game series at Yankee Stadium looms vs. their longtime playoff rivals which will be, I think, a true litmus test for a team that doesn't have much to prove, but to see if they can hang with the best team in the sport. They'll close out this stretch with two games at Citi Field vs. the Mets, before going home to play one game against the Yanks. The Cardinals are in the middle of a big series vs. the Brewers as they currently hold a one game lead in the NL Central. Give it up to the Guardians as they're in first place in the AL Central as they have an important series this weekend when they face the Twins in Minnesota in a battle for the division lead.

(37:57) Brooks Koepka is the latest golfer to make his way over to the LIV Golf League. Will other players on the Tour follow suit? What will the PGA do if this exodus continues?

(42:49) Rob Gronkowski goes off into retirement again! The latest news regarding Deshaun Watson. What is the NFL waiting for to hand down a suspension to the embattled QB?

Avalanche Slide Into Tampa As Lightning Seek Comeback. Curry's Legacy. Warrior Dynasty? Celtics Postmortem Caps Finals. 2022 Yankees Over 1998 Team? Fitzpatrick Wins/Zalatoris Loses US Open?

Back on the scene after a quick respite last week, I'm ready to rock and dissect the sports landscape for you as I have plenty to unpack. On deck:

(6:42) I begin the podcast discussing the past few days as I didn't release a mid week podcast. I'll explain why. I'll jump right into what's currently happening as the Stanley Cup Finals turns its attention to Tampa Bay as the Lightning have to dig themselves out of another 2-0 series deficit. Will they respond with a big effort and win tonight? Or does the Avalanche have too much going for them as they look to take a commanding series lead? I'll share my thoughts on what this could mean for Colorado, as well as, Tampa as the next two games will be played at Amalie Arena. There were a couple of coaching hires (i.e. Philadelphia and Vegas) that could mean a turnaround is in store for two franchises looking to get back to the playoffs. And what about former Islander coach, Barry Trotz?

(19:27) The NBA Finals l didn't live up the sadly didn't live up to the hype as the Golden State Warriors were able to capture the championship, winning the last three games, securing their 4th title in eight years. Steph Curry is your Finals MVP. Has he now put himself in the category of a top-10 all time player? Can we say that this team is a dynasty? On the flipside for the Celtics, a tough defeat for a young squad as Jayson Tatum has lots to answer to after an underwhelming Finals performance. What do the Celtics need to get themselves over the hump this offseason?

(43:10) Baseball's big story at the moment is the play of the New York Yankees. They had their nine game winning streak snapped yesterday. Since their 7-6 start, they're 42-11. Is it premature or out of the question to hear whispers of comparisons to the 1998 Yankee team? I'll definitely get into that as well as what else is happening in Major League Baseball as we're less than a month away from the All-Star Break.

(57:11) The third golf major (US Open) of the year is already in the books. Matt Fitzpatrick is your winner. Or did Will Zalatoris lose it? Also, Phil Mickelson's poor effort as he didn't make the cut. Did the LIV Golf League cloud over his head play into his

(1:01:21) My Hero and Zero of the Week takes a week off. Or will it?

Cup Final Has Lightning's Quest For 3-Peat, Avalanche Rest Or Rust? Curry's Brilliance/Waiting On Tatum. Yanks/Braves Flying, Dodgers/Brewers/White Sox Skidding. LIV Golf, Rich Strike, Rams Cap Magic.

Grateful to have you stop by to get my insight on what's happening in the sports universe as the latest episode has dropped! On deck:

(3:45) Are we surprised that the Tampa Bay Lightning have made it back to the Stanley Cup Finals? They sure made me look like a fool (if you've listened to my takes over the past year plus) They will go for their third straight Cup championship which hasn't happened in almost 40 years. I'll discuss their series win over the Rangers, as well as, a postmortem on the Rangers postseason. Then preview a Final that will have a rested, high powered Avalanche team against the two time defending champs with a prediction as to who'll raise the Cup when it's all said and done.

(23:36) The NBA Finals have been quite the battle as the Warriors led by Steph Curry, had a Game 4 for the ages in bringing the series back to the Bay Area tied at 2. What could we possibly expect over the next couple of games at the very least? Will the Celtics continue their perfect record after a loss? Same for the Warriors? What about Jayson Tatum as he's been subpar this series and needs to have that signature game? A lot to uncover as we get closer to crowning an NBA champion. Also, a new coaching hire in Charlotte (former Nets coach, Kenny Atkinson) Was it a good move?

(34:54) As I turn my attention to baseball, the Yankees and Braves are flying high, while the Dodgers, Brewers and White Sox (a tough few days for manager, Tony LaRussa) are sliding a bit. The Yanks have won 11 of 12, but the competition will heat up over the next two weeks. The Braves have a soft schedule as they chase the Mets in the NL East. Meanwhile, the Dodgers have lost 9 of 13 and will lose a key member to their starting rotation, the Brewers snapped an eight game losing streak and what was Tony LaRussa thinking about intentionally walking a batter with TWO STRIKES?? I'll cover the baseball landscape as we're a little more than a month from the All-Star Game.

(44:18) The first ever LIV Golf League event took place over the weekend where Charl Schwartzel was the winner pocketing almost more than half of what he would make at a major, let alone a regular golf tournament. With the PGA suspending players who've defected to the LIV league, not playing in any future events, will the current players on the Tour not make the jump and keep their Tour status in tact?

(47:27) I'll briefly discuss The Belmont Stakes and how Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike showed us who we exactly thought he would be, ending up in sixth place as Mo Donegal was your winner to close out the Triple Crown of Horse Racing.

(49:21) I'll cap off the pod with some news and notes in the NFL. Whether it's the ongoing Deshaun Watson saga, the Broncos impending new ownership and how do the Rams do it when it comes to manipulating the salary cap as they re-sign both Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp to big extensions to go along with Matthew Stafford, Bobby Wagner, Allen Robinson, etc.

(53:17) Of course, there's my Hero and Zero of the Week.

(54:33) And a programming note for the podcast this coming Thursday that I'll keep you up to date as we get closer. Follow me on any of my social media accounts which are connected below.

Celtics Grit, Steph's Injury As Pivotal Game 4 Looms. Lightning Momentum Or Ranger Home Cooking? Braves Creeping On NL East. Golfers Loot Chasing To LIV League! Latest Deshaun Watson Saga

Get ready for a jam packed, fun filled hour of sports talk dripping with fire and passion as yours truly brings the pain on what’s going on in the world of sports. On deck:

(4:35) The NBA Finals sets up for a pivotal Game 4 on Friday night as the Celtics were able to withstand another third quarter blitz by the Warriors in a 116-100 victory. The big focus is whether or not Steph Curry will be in the starting lineup as he suffered an injury in the fourth quarter last night. What does this mean for the series moving forward? What is a huge key for them winning their first championship in 14 years? Can the Celtics penchant for winning games after a loss continue?

(19:05) With a Stanley Cup Final on the horizon, I'll recap the Avalanche's Game 4 series victory as they sweep the Oilers and punch their ticket to the Finals. I'll have a little postmortem on this Edmonton playoff run and will the long layoff (potentially 11 days for Colorado) be a blessing or a curse? In the East, the Rangers have let the Lightning back in the series as it's deadlocked at 2-2. Will the Rangers rebound and push Tampa Bay to the brink? Or will the two-time defending Cup champs figure out a way to win Game 5 and close out the Eastern Conference at home in Game 6?

(31:24) Don't look now but the Atlanta Braves are in hot pursuit. They've gotten over their early season slumber/World Series hangover as they are starting to creep up in the NL East standings. Should the Mets start looking over their shoulder as they still have FIFTEEN GAMES against their longtime rivals? The Angels have jettisoned their manager, Joe Maddon as the team is mired in a current 14 game losing streak. Was it a move they had to make? And the Yankees have gotten off to the best start in the sport since the 2001 Mariners. I'm sure a distinction the Yankee fan doesn't want to be associated with since it was their beloved team who beat Seattle in the playoff that year.

(39:30) What's currently taking place in golf has taken the sport by storm (NOTE: Since this recording, the PGA has suspended golfers who've transitioned over to the LIV from all events) as Dustin Johnson, Bryson Dechambeau and Patrick Reed have made the leap over to the LIV Golf League. I'll discuss the various effects (i.e. from players jumping ship just for money, the lack of history and iconic courses they'll pass up on playing) and even lay out an example using yours truly on why I wouldn't make an extreme move as such.

(48:24) I'll make a brief mention of The Belmont Stakes which'll take place on Saturday to see whether or not Kentucky Derby winner, Rich Strike will either A) race or B) not turn out to be a one-hit wonder.

(49:26) The saga of embattled Browns quarterback, Deshaun Watson has really taken on a life of its own. A recent New York Times article has uncovered 65 women involved with Watson over a 17 month period, on top of, the Houston Texans renting hotel rooms for Watson to get treatment? How could such a thing take place outside of the teams training facility? Also, what is the NFL waiting for when it comes to handing down a suspension under the leagues' conduct policy? A story that's beyond sad and one that you can't make up as I share my thoughts on this never ending soap opera.
