Positive Vibes Only On MLB's Legitimacy/.400 Hitter? NBA's Reboot/Player Opting out? LBJ Decision Anniversary. NHL Hubs, CBA & 2020 Draft Order? Cam's Impact In NE & Much More

Leaving the candid, negative vibes behind for this week as I shine on the positivity of the sports world as I present, Episode 141. On deck:

(2:51) Kicking off the podcast with a theme of good vibes as I focus on not detailing how COVID-19 could potentially shut down sports as we know it.

(6:41) MLB’s upcoming 2020 season. Will it be legitimate? What if a player flirts with batting .400? I have lots to share on that.

(16:14) NBA’s restart schedule has been released. It’s way too early for predictions, but players are opting out of playing in Orlando. Will this trend continue? Also, LeBron James celebrates an infamous anniversary. It was ten years ago that The Decision was the talk of all sports. I’ll recap the hoopla surrounding that firestorm.

(27:12) The NHL are narrowing down hubs for their postseason. Who are the front runners? The league is working on the next CBA, but there’s a caveat. I’ll explain. And who came up with this bizarre way to get the number 1 pick in this years draft? You won’t want to miss my assessment on that topic, as well as, there are a few inductees to Hockey’s Hall Of Fame as I’ll get into whether or not they are worthy of being enshrined in Toronto.

(37:26) Cam Newton has finally found a home. It’s with New England. I’ll share his possible impact in Foxborough but also chime in on the biggest reason why this may not work? The head of the players union (DeMaurice Smith) made some sober comments regarding the players protective safety before the start of training camp. Is he wrong for bringing it up?

(45:13) Plus, NYC Marathon canceled. The golf over the weekend at The Travelers in CT. Bubba Wallace fallout from the alleged noose in his garage and my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Guess What's Back? COVID-19 Makes Its Return! What Now? MLB 2020 On The Brink Of Extinction! Favre's Comments on Kaep Being A 'Hero'. Is Racing's Triple Crown Legit In 2020?

Doing my best to provide some light in a dark sports world that doesn’t seem as if it’s getting better, will be my goal in Episode 139! On deck:

(2:57) After police brutality was all the rage throughout the month, guess who made its return back into the news cycle? That’s right. COVID-19! I’ll dive in as to what the latest outbreaks throughout the country means as far as sports restarting (NBA, NHL) or trying to start (MLB) and the effects of it in the not too distant future (NFL). It’s a grim reality of an assessment that you won’t want to miss.

(22:29) An up to the minute analysis of the psychological tug of war between the players and owners of the MLB. We’re waiting word on the players vote on whether they’ll accept the latest (and final) proposal by the owners. Will they agree? Should they play? It’s getting late early as Yogi Berra used to say. You’ll definitely want to process and digest what I have to say about that.

(31:22) Brett Favre was asked about Colin Kaepernick and how he’s compared to the late football player, Pat Tillman AND if there’s a correlation between Kaepernick, Jackie Robinson and Muhammed Ali? You KNOW I went IN on this subject. Is Kaep a hero? Is he worth being mentioned in the same breath as the aforementioned icons of sports past? Another fiery take as I go full open field tackle on this subject. I’ll also touch on Jamal Adams of the New York Jets and his trade request out of Gotham. What should the Jets brass do? Listen in to find out for yourself.

(44:12) The Belmont Stakes kicked off the Triple Crown of Horse Racing for the year. When it’s all said and done, if Tiz The Law is victorious in the last two races as he was in the first, will it be legit?

(47:26) I’ll have a quick tennis update on the US Open still set for late August. Serena Williams will be there. What about Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal? What if they do not participate? I’ll share that…

(49:45) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Zooming through the month and the sports stratosphere bringing you up to date on ALL that’s going on in the world of sports, Episode 137. On deck:

(3:13) The players and owners of the MLB have become increasingly distant by the day when it comes to an agreement to play ball. There’s only one person who can solve this. Unfortunately, it may leave a stain with the group he works for. I’ll explain.

(17:57) A couple of interesting notes came from the NBA over the weekend. One - Kyrie Irving’s comments about not finishing the season in light of the recent civil unrest in this country. Two - the players concern about isolation, being in a ‘bubble’, their health to complete a season has come under pressure in the past few days. Is Kyrie right? Should some of the players back off, if they wish?

(33:33) The latest on the NHL hubs as they look to start training camp on July 10th. Also, how the first round of the playoffs could be an advantage for the 5-12 seeds going up against the 1-4 seeds in the second round?

(38:17) An NFL head coach will kneel with his players during the national anthem, as well as, multiple players as well. What will the owners do? They’ve been quiet up until this point.

(43:00) I discuss the summer of 1998 with Sammy Sosa & Mark McGwire’s home run chase. Alex Cora’s comments on his participation in the 2017 Astros sign stealing scandal.

(44:45) Why I was not attracted to the Charles Schwab golf tournament over the weekend? Roger Federer hangs it up for 2020 and my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Take a break from the ‘new normal’ and escape to in-depth analysis and opinions on what’s happening in the world of sports on Episode 131! On deck:

(3:14) Rays P Blake Snell fires the first salvo to the owners on the potential disaster baseball faces due to the coronavirus pandemic. Will other players come out opposing the owners proposal? You’ll get my thoughts on that.

(17:06) ESPN releases another sham of a list when it comes to the top 75 players of all time. The never ending and time wasting comparison of Michael Jordan vs. LeBron James. Chris Paul’s encouraging comments regarding resuming the season, but with a caveat. And my final thoughts on The Last Dance, episodes 9 & 10 including, Pippen gutting out Game 6 of the 1998 Finals. The story of Steve Kerr’s dad. Karl Malone coming up small. Jordan’s immortal three year run. Would they have won a fourth straight if they stayed together and much more.

(47:00) NFL facilities re-open on Tuesday. What does that mean for NY & CA, which were hit hard due to COVID-19. Episode 130 starts off turbulent but lands smoothly as I bring you up to speed on what’s happening in the world of sports. On deck:

(3:13) I start off with a rant unrelated to sports as I dissect spring (or lack thereof) in the Northeast. I’m sure some people will agree.

(7:42) The NBA kicks off the nuts and bolts of the podcast as I detail the tough job that lies ahead for Commissioner Adam Silver as he navigates the league through this pandemic. I’ll review episodes 7 & 8 of The Last Dance as I discuss Michael Jordan’s DNA, does he get a pass for his foibles vs. Orlando in the ‘95 Eastern Conference Semifinals?, Scottie Pippen’s choice to sit out the final play of Game 3 in the 94 ECS and much more on this compelling documentary.

(34:34) The NFL schedule for 2020 is out. I’ll highlight the Thursday, Sunday and Monday night dockets, as well as the Thanksgiving and Christmas Day games. Also, is Frank Gore a future Hall of Famer?

(45:57) The MMA took a hit with the coronavirus over the weekend. Is this a sign of things to come for the rest of the leagues trying to get back into the sports scene?

Will a new month in the calendar provide hope for not only sports, but for everyone? I’ll have it all here as I dissect it thoroughly in Episode 129! On deck:

(3:17) The biggest factor of all in sports coming back. The social commentary on what that could mean to the American public and a first time prediction as to how this may all play out.

(22:11) Remembering the life of Don Shula who passed away at the age of 90. Is Andy Dalton a security blanket for Dak Prescott in Dallas? The NFL schedule makers bravado? No NFL games overseas and is Jarrett Stidham the man in New England at QB?

(33:07) A dangerous game may be on the horizon between the owners and players of MLB. How that could be costly and will become a breaking point with baseball fans across the country?

(38:45) Recapping episodes 5 & 6 of the ESPN Chicago Bulls documentary, The Last Dance. How Nike almost didn’t get their man? Is Adidas still regretting not signing him? The Isiah/MJ feud and the Dream Team impact. Hope For A Possible Return To Sports? NFL Draft Winners & Losers, The Last Dance Pts. 3 & 4/Jordan 'G.O.A.T.' Put To Rest, A-Rod & J-Lo Bid To Buy The Mets?

Fired up to deliver some possibility, positivity and creativity as Episode 128 has chock full of sports nuggets to keep you entertained while quarantined. On deck:

(2:53) The possibility of sports making its way back to the national stage. It may be some time, but maybe not as far off as I once thought. Plans that the NBA & NHL are proposing to come back and my thoughts on whether it can be pulled off?

(12:12) Recapping the NFL Draft winners and losers, the wheeling and dealing throughout the league, why drafting a QB in Green Bay was a risk, but justified? Also, will the NFL continue to be unscathed during the coronavirus?

(34:29) Can the players be ready in the 3-4 week period as suggested by NBA player president, Chris Paul? The Last Dance aired episodes 3 and 4 last night. Why you need to watch this NOW? The ‘sports hatred’ that’s a thing of the past and settling the score as to why Michael Jordan is the G.O.A.T?

(55:43) Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez bidding to buy the Mets? Why that may be a good thing? And not so bad overall for the star couple! You’ll definitely want to hear what I have to say about that and the Red Sox penalty for their version of sign stealing in 2018.

The Agony Of Defeat! Chronicling The Worst Losses Of My Favorite Teams. Plus, NFL Draft Round 1 Breakdown

A couple of weeks ago, I shared my euphoria and excitement as a fan over my favorite teams (i.e. Mets, Steelers, Celtics, Islanders and Hoyas) winning a championship. Today, it’s the complete opposite as I bring to you (Episode 127) my perspective of digesting their toughest defeats.

(4:18) A disappointing collapse in the 1996 Big East Final, among a couple of other losses, will never erase the bitter taste of losing a national championship in 1985 as Georgetown bows to Villanova.

(12:37) The Drive For Five. Losing to the Rangers in the first round back in the 90’s was bad, but you’ll be surprised as to what the roughest NY Islanders loss was for me.

(19:26) Tough defeats at the hands of the Lakers in big spots highlight this brutal stretch for the Boston Celtics.

(28:40) It gets interesting here. The Steelers suffered some inexplicable losses in the postseason, but nothing like the 1994 AFC Championship Game vs. the Chargers. I’ll explain why.

(46:02) And then…there are the Mets. Losing to the Yankees in the Subway Series? The Royals in 2015? Not even close. There are three that come to mind, with not just one, but TWO honorable mention that you won’t want to miss out on.

(59:05) Lastly, I’ll recap the top headlines of the first round of the NFL Draft. Not a lot of drama, but some surprises, especially what took place in Green Bay.

The Last Dance, Parts 1 & 2, Tua Tagovailoa And The 2020 NFL Draft, The Possibility Without Sports This Year

Get ready to be entertained and informed with some credible opinions on what’s going on in sports as Episode 126 brings the heat. On deck:

(2:13) SPOILER ALERT: I’ll dissect the first two parts of the long awaited documentary, The Last Dance, as it unfolds the final championship season of the Chicago Bulls. There were some very interesting takeaways from it, including, Michael Jordan’s competitive drive, Scottie Pippen’s disdain for GM Jerry Krause and owner Jerry Reinsdorf’s lack of input in regards to keeping one of the greatest teams of all time in tact and much more.

(24:10) The NFL Draft is upon us. I’ll share with you who is the most intriguing story of the first round. The TV aspect of it as this virtual draft is the first one of its kind. Should the Dolphins and Chargers move up to get their quarterback? My sleeper of the draft, rumors, news and whole lot more.

(40:56) The possibility of a world without sports for 2020, with a couple of potential exceptions. You’ll definitely won’t want to miss what I have to say about this as we continue to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

Rumors, Reports and Proposals, Oh My! Making Sense Of The Sports Landscape. Goodell On Draft Night, The End Of P. I. Replay? XFL Folding? Utah Teammates Bury Hatchet, NHL's Colby Cave's Tragic Death

Searching for answers as to when sports may make its return? I’ll provide some insight as Episode 124 shines the light on the sports landscape. On deck:

(2:15) It’s already been a month without games, matches, etc. being played. Numerous reports have stated that the MLB, NBA & NHL have made some proposals as to when the leagues will be open and how they’ll execute these plans. Should we buy? Sell? Believe it? Disregard it? You’ll see what I have in store to some one these questions and then some.

(23:25) News and notes throughout the NFL including: Roger Goodell working the Draft from his basement? The untimely death of former QB, Tarvaris Jackson. Brandin Cooks trade to Houston. The end of the pass interference rule as we know it? And the end of the XFL? Lots to get into during this 13 minute segment.

The Thrill Of Victory! A Breakdown Of Celebrating My Teams (Mets, Steelers, Celtics, Islanders and Hoyas) Biggest Wins

Going down a different sports path on Episode 123, as I share my experience of the few thrills that my teams have accomplished over the years winning a championship. Whether you’re a fan of the teams I root for, or not, I’m sure those who know what it feels like to reach the mountaintop can surely relate. On deck:

(4:28) My early memories of rooting for the Georgetown Hoyas college basketball team, as they were champions in 1984.

(10:25) The New York Islanders record setting dominance of the early 1980’s, winning four Stanley Cups along the way.

(17:07) The Boston Celtics halcyon days of the 1980’s, sandwiched by the 2008 championship team. One of my biggest regrets and confession comes from watching the NBA Finals of that year. You won’t want to miss that.

(26:45) The Pittsburgh Steelers capping off four Super Bowl victories in the 1970’s, to the improbable and historic run to winning Super Bowl XL (which was anti-climatic…you have to hear for yourself) concluding with what I call, ‘The Gift That Keeps On Giving’ as the Steelers win Super Bowl XLIII.

(37:35) My first love, the New York Mets as 1986 is the only season I can hang my hat on, despite a couple of World Series runs that fell short. They did provide a thrill of a lifetime as I look back at where I was and how I was ready to burst into sad tears when there were two outs in the bottom of the 10th in Game 6 of the ‘86 World Series.

I hope you enjoy listening to my thoughts and experience of what it was like to witness world championships as it evokes memories of the teams you root for and what it meant to you at that time.

A Return To Sports Coming Sooner? Later? Status Of AJ Hinch, Luhnow & Betts. Aldon Smith's Improbable Comeback. '20 Hoops HOF Class. Duncan: NBA Top 10 Ever? MJ: Best College Player? And HORSE?

Ready to fill your cup with the latest that’s happening in the world of sports? Look no further as I’ll entertain and inform on Episode 122. On deck:

(2:08) Zooming through the sports landscape to see if there is any light at the end of the tunnel regarding games being played. President Donald Trump & Clemson coach Dabo Sweeney say NFL & college football will begin in August/September, but the NBA is preparing for the season NOT to resume. I’ll share my thoughts on both sides of this coin.

(15:49) The sports gods took a shot at me on Sunday as they tested my patience and tormented me with a couple of classic games shown simultaneously. I’ll explain.

(21:08) I’ll update why MLB will let former Astros manager and GM, AJ Hinch & Jeff Luhnow back into the game next season even if a pitch isn’t thrown in 2020. Same for the free agent status of Mookie Betts. Also, is Betts worth up to $400 million dollars?

(24:45) Aldon Smith is back in the NFL after a four year hiatus. Why this is a tremendous gamble for the Dallas Cowboys?

(30:03) The Basketball Hall of Fame will enshrine the late Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett among others. Is this the best entry class of all time? Why Tim Duncan’s career is better than Kobe Bryant’s? Is Duncan an all-time top 10 NBA player? A few words on the Chicago Bulls ESPN documentary, The Last Dance. Why Michael Jordan isn’t the greatest college player of all time? And the NBA thinking of broadcasting games of HORSE?

(45:45) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.
