When Will Sports Return? Should NBA/NHL Jump Right Into The Postseason? MLB In November? At Neutral Sites? COVID-19 Impact On Players/Owners. Acquaint With YouTube. A Birthday Wish From You!

Closing out the first quarter of 2020 delivering some realism and fast paced sports analysis on Episode 121. On deck:

(2:37) Will sports resume in the near future? By summer? In ANY part of 2020? I’ll delve into a possible grim reality on how the coronavirus has a stranglehold on the sports world and if there is any relief in sight? Will the fans rush back into the stadium? What happens if the virus isn’t 100% eradicated? Those are a couple of the questions I touch on as you won’t want to miss my thoughts on this.

(13:25) Should the NBA/NHL transition right into the postseason, if and when, both leagues resume? NHL’s Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby think so. While Conor McDavid says, play fair and finish out the regular season. You know I have a thing or two to say about what both leagues should do upon re-starting their seasons.

(18:02) The MLB campaign hasn’t begun, but there have been discussions on what to do about 2020. Should they extend the schedule deep into the fall? Should postseason games be played at neutral sites? What about the All-Star Game? Various queries and I have answers regarding the above and more.

(28:09) How COVID-19 continues to impact the players on the field, court, ice (statuses of Utah’s Donovan Mitchell and Boston’s Marcus Smart, two Colorado Avalanche players), broadcasters (ESPN’s Doris Burke) and even owners (NY Knicks James Dolan).

(31:30) Catching up on some fringe signings in the NFL as the free agency period starts to whittle down as we get set for the draft next month. What that may look like as you’re watching at home? YIKES! Get ready for that, NFL fans!

(35:36) Why you should acquaint yourself with YouTube (Duh!) to watch classic games, as I suggest a few hockey tough guys (you know that’s my thing) from yesteryear to keep you occupied and entertained while being self-quarantined.

(38:53) My Hero and Zero of the Week.

(40:51) Plus, a birthday wish that I ask of you, the listeners, as I celebrate another year in the life on March 31st.

The Suffering Of A Tortured Fan Base (Minnesota) With Headstyle. Plus, Thoughts On Syndergaard, Cam & Olympics

Sending out some mid week sports love as you continue to stay safe and social distance yourself as we get through this worldwide pandemic together. Episode 120 is a special one because it highlights a region and fan base that hasn’t seen a championship in almost three decades.

(11:35) Joining me on the podcast is lifelong Minnesota native, Headstyle to share his pain of following his beloved Twins, Timberwolves, Wild (should be North Stars) and especially Vikings. He has some interesting takes on his most brutal loss, why he loved Brett Favre on the Vikings? The frustration over the Timberwolves and how they’re run, and much more.

(1:36) But first I kick off the pod with my thoughts on the right elbow of Mets P Noah Syndergaard, the release of former Panthers QB Cam Newton, and my Zero of the Week from this past Monday’s episode (#119) was short lived as the 2020 Summer Olympics was postponed until 2021.

Brady Leads NFL Free Agent Merry-Go-Round, LeBron's Candid Admission To Miami's Big 3, COVID-19 Hits NHL, NCAA Players Declare For NBA Draft, Health Update Of MLB Players

If it’s some serious sports analysis, opinions and entertainment that you’re looking for, you’ve come to the right place. I’ll shed some light on the few things percolating in the world of sports as we do our best to get through this coronavirus pandemic on Episode 119. On deck:

(2:34) The NFL provided lots of light that the sports world needed with all leagues dark across the board. I’ll get into all of the key signings (Amari Cooper, Todd Gurley), new destinations (DeAndre Hopkins, Stefan Diggs, DeForest Buckner, Jason Witten, Nick Foles, et. al) including the Tom Brady saga and his next adventure in Tampa.

(33:04) LeBron James made a first and surprising visit to Instagram Live as he divulged an interesting tidbit regarding the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals vs. the Boston Celtics. I’ll do a deep dive on that and is there trouble with the league regarding payment of players after April 1st?

(39:55) The NHL has been low key despite some news coming out of Ottawa in regards to players contracting the coronavirus.

(42:12) A couple of baseball notes regarding the health of two key players in the AL East (Chris Sale & Aaron Judge)

(44:18) I’ll also touch on college basketball players declaring for the draft. CBS turns back the clock over the weekend.

(47:45) More thoughts about dealing with coronavirus while you’re at home.

Coronavirus Rocks The (Sports) World. What's Next? NFL Free Agent Frenzy Begins. Rick Pitino Finds A New Home. Podcast Update For The Coming Weeks

Can it be? A world without sports? Join me as I’ll uplift your spirits as we recap a wild week and what lies ahead on Episode #118. On deck:

(2:18) The coronavirus rocks the sports world as leagues, tournaments and seasons come to a screeching halt due to the worldwide pandemic of the aforementioned virus. I’ll chronologically go through all that took place, the watershed moment of the week in the NBA, the subsequent postponements, suspensions and cancellations across the board as we sort through the wreckage piece by piece.

(21:08) I’ll share a few tips on what I feel are the best tips to deal with being indoors, sequestered from the world to keep yourself upbeat and positive through this process.

(26:56) Some NBA news and notes regarding Mark Cuban, Giannis Antetekoumpo and Zion Williamson’s charitable efforts for the employees working in the arenas during this stoppage. The Yankees and Mets decide not to break camp and continue to build and bond team chemistry.

(32:05) The NFL will be front and center as the free agency period begins today. I’ll discuss the big contract that Ryan Tannehill received, Tom Brady’s impending destination and the Ravens steal of a trade getting DE Calais Campbell from Jacksonville. Also, Rick Pitino finds a home at Iona (New Rochelle, NY) Is this a huge risk considering his peccadillos off the court? And what lies ahead for the podcast if games/news are on an indefinite hiatus? I’m working feverishly in the lab to come up with some creative and thoughtful ideas to keep the podcast entertaining and informative for you, the fan.

Lakers: NBA's Best Team? LeBron For MVP? Theory On Nets Coach Firing. Prelude To March Madness. 'Canes/Flyers Rise In NHL. Red Sox Scandal Resolution? NFL Owners Hope Players Refuse CBA?

Tired of the same sports narratives you hear on other shows or podcasts? Look no further than to hear what I have to say about what’s happening throughout the sports landscape on Episode #117. On deck:

(2:01) The Lakers left their mark on the NBA after big wins against Milwaukee and the Clippers this weekend. Are they the team to beat? Is LeBron James the league MVP after his battles with Giannis and Kawhi?

(15:24) The Brooklyn Nets ‘mutually agree to part ways’ with their head coach, Kenny Atkinson. My question is why now? And I have a theory as to why they let go of their former coach with their rivals across the river always in their shadow.

(33:24) March Madness is a week and a half away, but Conference Championship Week is here. I’ll bring you up to speed on all that’s happening in the college circuit as I serve the appetizer to next weeks main course for the NCAA hoops fan.

(39:15) The Hurricanes and Flyers have been the hottest teams in the NHL. They continue to move up the standings to solidify playoff positioning. Also, what does this mean for the Islanders? Losers of six in a row and with a four game road trip to Western Canada and Pittsburgh, needless to say, this is their biggest stretch of the year. I’ll have an up to the minute look at the standings as we’re less than a month away from the end of the regular season.

(48:33) As the baseball season is two and a half weeks away, will MLB complete their investigation on the 2018 Boston Red Sox before the start of their season? Will the penalties be as harsh as the Houston Astros?

(55:01) There have been whispers that some of the NFL owners are hoping that the players reject the latest proposal of the CBA so that they can add another game to the 17 game schedule. Why didn’t they all agree on this the first time around? What if they get what they wish for? Is armaggedon near?

2nd Anniversary Pod! Giannis-Harden Rift? NBA Rookie Of Year? LBJ-Zion Comparison? More NCAA Craziness. Islanders Flailing. Brady's NFL Future. XFL Update. Yankees Worried About Injury Woes?

We celebrate an anniversary and a new month as I deliver all of the fast and furious sports talk on the latest Episode 116. On deck:

(2:11) Acknowledging the second anniversary on the podcast, sending many thanks to all for your continued and tremendous support.

(4:31) The reigning MVP's of the past two years in the NBA (Giannis & James Harden) exchanged some subtle unpleasantries last week. Were the comments unnecessary? Is this something to look out for down the road? I'll also discuss who should be NBA Rookie of the Year and my problem with the comparison between Zion Williamson and LeBron James's rookie seasons is one you won't want to miss.

(25:30) Another week of upsets in College Basketball as we're more than two weeks away from March Madness, with thoughts on Duke being a Final Four team?

(29:31) The Islanders made a big, but questionable trade (in my eyes) for goal scorer Jean-Gabriel Pageau. My take on that and do the Isles have enough to make it to the playoffs? If not, will there be consequences?

(39:31) NFL free agent talk will start to ratchet up, especially with the big name of Tom Brady out there. Where will he end up?

(44:54) The latest on the XFL. Is the buzz starting to wear off? Is it losing some steam?

(47:44) Should Yankee fans worry about the rash of injuries this spring to some of their top players (i.e. Severino, Stanton and Judge)?

(51:50) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week and announcement regarding another social media addition to the podcast.

NBA Storylines (Embiid "Best Player?", Celtics-Lakers), Chaos In College Basketball, Ovechkin's 700th Goal/Trade Deadline, Mike Fiers's Week That Was, NFL Owners/Players Stalemate? Wilder-Fury Recap

Wrapping up February as we creep closer to a busy sports month! Episode 115 will have all you need when it comes to what’s going on in the world of sports. On deck:

(3:28) The top storylines as the NBA kicks off its “second half” after the All-Star Break. Coach John Beilein’s ouster in Cleveland. Sixers Joel Embiid’s proclamation as the ‘best player in the world’, the Celtics-Lakers matchup yesterday with an overview of both teams looking forward. As well as, a breakdown of an up to the minute seedings in each conference for playoff positioning.

(21:43) A topsy-turvy week in College Basketball which saw four of the top six seeds lose in the past five days. What does this mean as far as the tournament is concerned?

(26:49) Capitals winger, Alexander Ovechkin becomes the eighth player to score 700 goals in the NHL. Does Great Eight (Ovi) have a chance to catch the Great One (Gretzky)? Also, talk of the trade deadline as it approaches at 3pm today with a couple of deals that I discuss.

(38:24) Former Astros P Mike Fiers was criticized (called a snitch by Red Sox legend, David Ortiz), received death threats via social media and was praised by the crowd upon his first start of the spring. Should he be critiqued or canonized for what he did? The Yankees may lose another starter to begin 2020. Is this a sign of things to come for 2020?

(46:00) NFL news and notes as the combine approaches this week (not a fan), Drew Brees to give it another shot, Browns LT Greg Robinson carrying how much pot? And is there a stalemate between the owners and players over the new proposal regarding the potential new NFL schedule?

(50:36) Plus a recap of the heavyweight fight between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury on Saturday night and my Hero and Zero of the Week.

Astros Fallout. Houston: We Have A Serious Problem! NBA's Slam Dunk Sham & Second Half, NHL's Rollercoaster Week, Myles Garrett Said What?

I’ve got a lot cooking on the sports stove! I’ll serve a smorgasbord of the latest and greatest as Episode 114 will fill your plate and then some. On deck:

(1:58) The Houston Astros good, bad and ugly from their ‘mea culpa’ press conference on Thursday. I’ll explain the aforementioned three things and did it erase some of the stigma from their 2017 championship season? Why this could be a plus for baseball? And why this isn’t going away any time soon?

(34:20) The NBA All-Star Break has come and gone. I’ll add my two cents on the aftermath of the dunk contest, the big whoop about the All-Star Game itself and set my sights on a thrilling second half as teams will jockey for playoff positioning and who may surprise and disappoint over the final two months of the season.

(42:55) The NHL had a rollercoaster week. From the Capitals RW Alexander Ovechkin trying to reach the 700 goal mark, to the scare out in Anaheim with Blues D, Jay Bouwmeester’s health and the disaster out in Colorado with the Stadium Series set up between the Kings and Avalanche. With the trade deadline a week away, I’ll bring you up to date on the latest with rumors and the playoff chase in both conferences.

(57:41) Browns DE, Myles Garrett has been reinstated to play at the start of next season in the NFL. Why that was a mistake? AND what did he say just seconds after reinstatement? You won’t want to miss that!

Plus, the latest in college basketball (54:57), the XFL (56:29) and my Hero and Zero of the Week (1:04:38).

Heat/Clippers Reload, NHL's Western Playoff Race, Betts to LA, Mets Seeking Ownership, XFL Anyone? The Sprint To March Madness

Here to whet your appetite for opinionated and entertaining sports talk on Episode 113. On deck:

Re-introducing the Sports Dead Zone Part 1 as the NFL season is complete, while we await March Madness and the 2020 MLB season.

(1:34) The NBA trade deadline had a couple of good storylines as Miami and the second banana in LA (Clippers) fortified their squads to make a deep push into spring for the coveted Lawrence O’Brien Trophy. I’ll recap both deals that sent Andre Iguodala to the Heat and Marcus Morris to LA, as well as, the other trades that highlighted Thursday’s deadline.

(27:02) The NHL’s Western Conference playoff race is going to be a fight to the finish where you have eight teams jockeying for three playoff spots.

(36:38) Pitchers and catchers report throughout the MLB this week. I’ll share my two cents on the blockbuster Mookie Betts trade to LA and the Mets ownership is up to no good AGAIN!

(53:55) Anyone interested in the XFL? You’re going to get a surprising thought or two about the league reincarnated from its old version back almost twenty years ago.

(1:02:17) I also have a say on the college basketball season to date as we’re hoping for a sprint to March Madness as it can’t come any faster. Jon Jones is back on the MMA mountaintop.

Niners Meltdown, Chiefs Comeback To Win SB LIV, 2020 NFL Hall Of Fame Class, Lakers/NBA Farewell To Kobe, Dusty Takeover in Houston, Betts On The Move? Kenin/Novak Win Aussie Open

A Super recap of the big game and everything else that’s going on in the world of sports as Episode 112 is ready to rock. On tap:

(3:00) The Chiefs win their first Super Bowl in 50 years as they rally from a ten point fourth quarter deficit and put it on the 49ers as Patrick Mahomes is the MVP of the game. I’ll review all the key plays as the Niners have a long off-season to figure out what went wrong as they couldn’t seal the deal. I’ll chime in on the Halftime Show, the commercials and the introduction of the top players in NFL history as I put the 100th season of the NFL to bed. I’ll also have a few thoughts on the Class of 2020 Hall of Fame candidates as well.

(33:48) The NBA arguably has gone through its’ toughest week in the history of the league, as teams, players, coaches and fans say goodbye to the late, great Kobe Bryant. I’ll paint a broad stroke on the week that was with this tragedy hanging over the NBA community and beyond, and take a look at the events in LA on Friday as the Lakers hosted their first game since the Black Mamba’s death. I’ll add in the changes made to the NBA All Star Game to commemorate Kobe Bryant, the exploits of Blazers G Damian Lillard and why Jae Crowder got what he deserved in the final seconds of a game against the NY Knicks.

(49:00) A rivalry in the NHL is renewed as the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames played two games in three nights and sparked thoughts of their brawl filled days in the 1980’s. Hear my take as to why the NHL has missed the boat AGAIN, and why rivalries are NEEDED in a sport that lacks any spark to the casual sports fan.

(57:00) There’s a new sheriff in Houston and his name is Dusty Baker. Why I think this is a good hire for the reigning AL Champions and is Mookie Betts on the trading block in Boston? I’ll delve into that as the Red Sox may be looking to make wholesale changes just 16 months after winning a World Series.

(1:01:42) I’ll recap the mens and womens champions at the Australian Open, what’s happening in College Basketball and my Hero and Zero of the Week.

The untimely and unfortunate passing of Los Angeles Laker great, Kobe Bryant as he, his daughter and seven other passengers perish in a helicopter accident in Calabasas, CA. I’ll preview Super Bowl LIV as the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs will face off for the Vince Lombardi Trophy. I’ll get into the key matchups, things to look for and my prediction as to who’ll be the last team standing in this NFL season. I’ll also talk about the end of an era for a one Eli Manning as he announced his retirement. What does that mean for the other QB’s in the 2004 Draft? (i.e. Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger) Also, is he a first ballot Hall of Famer?

The NHL’s second half is underway. I’ll take an early look into the playoff chase, teams jockeying for position, who can make a late run, etc.

The Big Game in two weeks is all set, and of course, everything else that’s going on in the world of sports gets uncovered right here on Episode 109. On tap:

Super Bowl LIV in Miami will await the Chiefs and 49ers as they will descend to South Florida later this week. I’ll recap how they got there and share some early thoughts of this heavyweight matchup. I’ll also have a postmortem on the Titans and Packers, including Aaron Rodgers’s legacy to date and go around the league for the latest news and notes.

MLB took a major hit over the past week as not one, but three managers were let go in a four day span. You can thank the sign-stealing Houston Astros in the 2017 for this. I’ll delve into everything that took place in Houston, Boston and New York. What type of impact this has for each team as spring training is on the horizon. And why it was a good move for the Mets to part ways with their short tenured manager, Carlos Beltran.

Speaking of coaching/managerial changes, the NHL has gone through SEVEN of them and we haven’t hit the All-Star Break. I’ll add my two cents on that.

Also, the latest in the NBA with ballyhooed rookie, Zion Williamson’s NBA debut forthcoming and Kyrie Irving is at it again. Why his comments are biting him in the rear end, yet again, to show he’s not meant to be a true leader.

It’s a fast paced, jam packed, chock full of sports pod as Episode 108 barrels in like a freight train. On deck:

And now there are four. Divisional Weekend in the NFL is in the books. I’ll highlight the Titans rising in Baltimore, while the Ravens unravel as the top seed in the AFC. A couple of ‘I told you so’s’ on Lamar Jackson. How Texans coach Bill O’Brien gagged a 24 point lead to the high flying, record setting Chiefs? 49er dominance at home vs. the Vikings and the Packers hanging on at home vs. the Seahawks. I’ll also look ahead to Championship Weekend, what’s the best and worst potential Super Bowl match-ups and discuss the new homes for coaches in Dallas, Carolina and New York (Giants).

I’ll preview (FINALLY) the National Championship Game between LSU-Clemson. Does Clemson have a chance? Is this the coronation for LSU?

I'll take a trip through the Association to touch on Russell Westbrook’s return to OKC, the effects of Anthony Davis’s injury in LA for the Lakers and the Celtics falter against a much bigger team as the Sixers continue to dominate them this season.

As for the NHL, some changes were made in Nashville and New Jersey and the topsy-turvy Pacific out West.

The 2018 Red Sox are now caught in allegations regarding sign stealing as the world awaits the verdict regarding the 2017 Houston Astros. You’ll hear my two cents on that.

'Wild' Wild Card Weekend. #6 Seed Road Warriors, Pats/Saints Early Exits, Texans Big Comeback. The Next Browns GM Should Be? Remembering David Stern. Five Weeks 'Til Pitchers & Catchers?

Launching into the new year and decade with full force as I bring to you (Episode 107) and everything happening in the world of sports. On deck:

It was a ‘Wild’ Wild Card weekend as I recap the tough losses in New England and New Orleans. Vikings ride defense and Kirk Cousins to victory. Has the championship window for Drew Brees closed? Derrick Henry’s monster effort against Pats D. Houston’s enormous comeback cemented in OT, while Buffalo goes off into the postseason wondering how did it slip away? Seattle’s carbon copy win in Philadelphia, despite opportunities without Carson Wentz in at quarterback. I’ll also look ahead to the Divisional Round and where I may see an upset of the four games on tap. As for off the field, the Cleveland Browns are looking for a coach before a GM? That’s typical, but I have the GM to gain instant credibility and respectability and it’s a NO BRAINER!!!!

I’ll spend a few moments on the enormous loss of former NBA commissioner David Stern and the impact he made on the Association during his tenure from 1984-2014. I’ll also touch on what’s happening in the league over the past week, including the Sixers slipping in the East and a log jammed bottom of the West.

I’ll skate over the week that was on the ice in the NHL.

Are we really six weeks until pitchers and catchers? I’ll check the MLB Hot Stove pulse as we get closer to spring training.

And then there are twelve. The NFL regular season has come to a close. Now onto the postseason. I’ll recap a wild day in the league where we saw a shocker in Foxborough, the Chiefs take the #2 seed in the AFC, a frantic end in Seattle where the Niners have the top seed in the NFC. The Titans grab the #6 seed in the AFC, while Philadelphia secured the NFC East with a win vs. the Giants. I’ll preview Wild Card Weekend, the top storylines on the road to Super Bowl LIV and keep you up to date on Black Monday as coaches have already been given their walking papers.

The National Championship in College Football is set. There was a rout (LSU destroys Oklahoma) and a nail biter (as defending champ Clemson holds off Ohio State) I’ll look back at what took place and what lies ahead as we have to wait another TWO WEEKS to crown a champion.

I’ll peruse the latest free agent signings in baseball, what’s happening in the NBA, NHL and college basketball. Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

NFC 'Hot Potato', Steelers Slip Out Of Sixth Seed. FBS Playoff Preview. A Yankee Trade Proposal? Mets/Yoenis's 2020 Proclamation, NBA's 'One Million Dollar' Gamble

Spreading some early Christmas cheer (and jeer) as Episode 104 is ready to be unwrapped under your tree. On tap:

The NFC plays ‘hot potato’ when it comes to seeding as the 49ers leapfrog to the top of the conference, while the Seahawks plummet toward the bottom. The Eagles take control of the NFC East as the Cowboys are on the outside looking in. In the AFC, the Steelers playoff push gets a lump of coal in their stocking as they are left out in the cold for now. I’ll provide an up to the minute recap of the playoff picture as we head into the final weekend of the NFL regular season.

The College Football Playoff is this weekend as LSU-Oklahoma and Clemson-Ohio State square off to see who’ll play in the National Championship. I’ll preview both match-ups with predictions as to who will fight for a title in the FBS.

I’ll bring you up to speed on the MLB free agent front, including my thoughts on the Yankee rumors regarding Francisco Lindor and Kyle Schwarber. (And a trade proposal for the Bombers) As well as, my two cents on what Mets OF Yoenis Cespedes’s has in store for the 2020 season.

The NBA’s Christmas Day schedule and the possible experiment with an early season one million dollar tournament for players on the 30 teams in the league? And a big trade in the NHL this past week.

Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week.

NFC Re-Shuffled, AFC Status Quo, Patriots 'Cheating' Again? MLB Free Agent Frenzy. Yankees: The Favorite? Kawhi's Return To TOR & NHL Concussions

Zooming through the sports universe as we get closer to saying goodbye to the decade. You’ll hear all that I have to say in Episode 103. Here’s what’s on deck:

NFL Week 15 recap includes another shift at the top of the NFC (SF loses, SEA & GB win), status quo in the AFC (BAL, NE, KC, HOU & BUF are victorious) and what to expect over the last two weeks of the NFL season/playoff picture. Also, the latest with the Patriots videotaping the Bengals sideline and what in the world happened with the ten former NFL players defrauding the leagues health program of millions of dollars?

What a difference a year makes with the MLB Hot Stove!? Last year, it took until February for teams to sign superstars Bryce Harper and Manny Machado. This year, Stephen Strasburg, Gerrit Cole, Anthony Rendon and Madison Bumgarner are all of the board well before Christmas! I’ll dissect it all, and does the Cole signing with the Yankees make them the prohibitive favorite to win the World Series?

In the NBA, we had Kawhi Leonard’s return to Toronto, Luka Doncic’s injury, the health of David Stern and everything else going on throughout the league.

Same as I take a trip on the ice in the NHL, including the story of former Boston Bruins G Tim Thomas and how concussions have impacted his life post career.

Plus, my Hero and Zero of the week.

The MLB Hot Stove is starting to heat up. The Yankees have made an offer to the top free agent pitcher on the market, Gerrit Cole. Will they get their man? Also, the Mets are in the process of being bought by hedge fund investor, Steve Cohen. What does this mean moving forward in regards to bringing top flight players on the market? You know I have lots to chime in on this topic.
