I’m chomping at the bit to uncover the last few days of what’s happened throughout the sports landscape. Thanks for coming by and getting an earful of what is on my mind as the latest podcast is here! On deck:

(6:42) Super Bowl LIX is set. The Eagles and Chiefs will meet for the second time in three years after both home teams won to punch their ticket to New Orleans on February 9th. Philadelphia capitalized on four turnovers which led to 28 points as they slowed down the Washington Commanders train this postseason. I’ll break down the key points of the game, the future of Jayden Daniels and co. and my disdain for the Tush Push. As for Kansas City, they are one game away from a three-peat, which has never been done in the Super Bowl era. They eke out another big win for the franchise, while Josh Allen falls short in a huge spot. Is he ever to be trusted to win an enormous game with the money on the line? I’ll get into the latest with the new coaching hires in the sport and a new GM in New York with the Jets. How will the new brass handle Aaron Rodgers’s future moving forward?

(40:22) The first tennis Grand Slam is complete as there was a big shock (Madison Keys upsetting Aryna Sabalenka) and not so big shock (Jannik Sinner winning back to back Australian Open tournaments) Also, what’s with the tennis fans Down Under booing Novak Djokovic?

(47:44)On the hardwood, the Association has been rather low key. You do have the Cavaliers coming back to the pack in the East, where the Celtics have admitted to being in cruise control. Can the Celtics continue their ascent to the top of the East? I’ll see what else is happening in the NBA as teams have played more than half of their season.

(56:51) As for the ice, the Carolina Hurricanes took a giant swing with acquiring Mikko Rantanen from Colorado for Jack Drury and Martin Necas. They also pick up Taylor Hall from Chicago as part of a three team deal. Will this risky move work out for Carolina? Everything else is pretty quiet around the NHL as I’ll peek at the upcoming schedule over the next three days.

(1:01:30) The Mets front office has gone on record to say that the Pete Alonso negotiations have been exhausting. Which leads me to believe, it’s time for the former first baseman to call ownership and hammer out a deal. I’ll further explain. And the Braves add a good, underrated player in Jurickson Profar to a three year deal showing that they’re staying active, doing their best to improve the roster.

I’ve got my sleeves rolled up, ready to unleash the inner sports beast as I have plenty to say over the course of the next hour plus as the latest episode is here. On deck:

(6:48) NFL Week 1 was all that, a bag of chips and a six pack of your favorite beer. You have 15 cities that is dreaming of a trip to the Super Bowl and 15 others that think the sky is falling and that their season is over. There are four places that have expectations, but disappointed their fan base (i.e. Falcons, Browns, Bengals & Giants) due to their lack of execution and flat play. I’ll highlight each team, go through all of the games this weekend. On top of unpacking Dak Prescott’s the richest player in NFL history, Lamar Jackson’s play in the opener against KC, the Ravens predictability on offense, Roger Goodell wanting SIXTEEN international games and Kendrick Lamar’s your Super Bowl Halftime performer. How do you think his adversary, Drake feels about this?

(45:58) There were two loud booms in a rather quiet college football Week 2. Texas went into the Big House to play the defending champion Michigan as took them to the back of the woodshed, winning 31-12. Is Texas a threat to be a champion before the end of the year? Will Michigan bounce back from his hangover? What happened to Notre Dame? They were a 28.5 point favorite vs. Northern Illinois only to lose in the final seconds 16-14. Does this loss bode well for the Fightin’ Irish? Or one that may be tough to overcome in the long run?

(53:20) We’re down to the final three weeks of the MLB season. Things are status quo as there are only two races worth discussing. The AL East between the Yankees-Orioles and the final NL Wild Card spot with the Braves-Mets.

(58:56) The US Open concluded yesterday as the tennis year went out in a whimper as Jannik Sinner won his first Open title, amid controversy surrounding two recent failed drug tests. And Aryna Sabalenka overcomes a loss to Coco Gauff in the final last year to beat Jessica Pegula for her initial Open win.

(1:04:21) I’ll wrap up with some NBA news as Nuggets guard, Jamal Murray gets a max contract.

(1:05:34) And two retirements in the NHL by the Staal brothers (i.e. Eric & Marc) as they combined for 35 years in the league and move on to the next phase of their respective lives.

Yankees/Mets Involved In The ONLY Race To MLB Playoffs. Is Florida St. STILL A Playoff Possibility? US Tennis Players Rising At Open. NHL’s Highest Paid Player On EDM, NOT Named McDavid?

Riding through the sports country with plenty of destinations to visit as I conclude a crazy week with whatever’s happening throughout the landscape. On deck:

(2:51) A bit of housekeeping to get into. If you’re looking for some NFL talk or a preview of the 2024 season, you’ll have to go to the previous podcast as I released that just hours ago. I have to shout out my brother Justin as he celebrates a birthday today. Of course, please drink OLIPOP soda and see promo above.

(5:54) It seems as if the MLB playoff landscape is coming down to two races, both involving the New York teams. The Yankees have been neck and neck with the Baltimore Orioles for the AL East all summer long. With their recent struggles, can they capture the division flag? As for the Mets, they’re riding a seven game winning streak, just a half game behind the final wild card spot in the NL. Can they keep pace with the Atlanta Braves, with whom they’re battling for the #6 seed? I’ll get into how the Royals have sputtered but are in good shape of securing a wild card spot. Fernando Tatis’s return to the Padres lineup as they’ll need his presence the rest of the way. We’re just three and a half weeks away from the conclusion of the regular season.

(24:26) Florida St. put up an embarrassing performance on Monday night after losing in Dublin, Ireland to start 0-2. Do they still have a shot to secure a playoff spot after their rough start? It’s a weak college football schedule this weekend as the highlight is #3 Texas in #10 Michigan at high noon on Saturday.

(31:40) There’s been a pleasant surprise at the US Open this week. You have three US players (Taylor Fritz, Francis Tiafoe and Jessica Pegula) still alive searching for their first ever Grand Slam championship. I’ll address their runs to the semifinals. Do they have a shot to win the whole thing?

(38:50) If I asked you, who is the highest paid player in the NHL as of this moment, you’d probably say Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers. Well, you’d be half right. His teammate, Leon Draisaitl just inked an eight year deal worth $14M a year. What do you think the three time MVP and face of the league would get if this was his walk year?

Chiefs DNA, Lamar/Harbaugh Miscues, Lions Clock Strikes 12, 49ers Resilient Caps Title Games. Luka Nets 73. Can That Be Topped? Oilers Date With History On Big Pause. Sinner's Epic Comeback Wins AO

Closing out the first month of the year with plenty to digest and dissect on all that took place in sports, so get your earbuds, headphones or speakers ready as I share all of my thoughts, opinions and analysis. On deck:

(3:15) We have a Super Bowl LVIII matchup set in two weeks at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. One that we're very familiar with. Kansas City showed their grit and championship DNA in winning another huge road game, 17-10 over the Baltimore Ravens. What went wrong for the #1 seeded Ravens? Is this all on the QB Lamar Jackson? What about the head coach John Harbaugh? Oh, there is much to unpack here as the Chiefs go back to the Super Bowl for the fourth time in five years to defend their title from last year. As for the nightcap, all of Michigan must be sick because the Lions weren't able to seal the deal vs. the 49ers. What was the head coach, Dan Campbell, thinking on going for it not once, but TWICE, instead of kicking a field goal? Another Niner comeback propels them in a rematch of Super Bowl LIV in Miami where the Chiefs and 49ers will go at it in less than two weeks. I'll unpack every fiber of what took place yesterday, take a peek at some coaching hires as we're just one game away from the 2023 NFL season concluding.

(35:38) Luka Doncic put up 73 points on Friday night vs. Atlanta, days after Joel Embiid scored 70 points in his own right. Will we see a player eclipse what Luka did? Could someone score 80? Surpass Kobe Bryant's 81, 18 years ago? You have a big regular season game tonight out West when the top two teams in the conference face off in OKC where the Timberwolves face the Thunder. There are two reunions on Wednesday with Kevin Durant going back to Brooklyn for the first time since the trade last year and Damian Lillard's return to Portland where he spent all of his career before being dealt to Milwaukee last summer.

(51:47) Not much happening in MLB. Do I get crazy about the Tigers signing one of their prospects to a 28.5 million dollar deal (INF Colt Keith) when we saw this earlier in the offseason with the Milwaukee Brewers?

(52:29) The first Grand Slam tournament in tennis has completed. Jannik Sinner had an Australian Open to remember. He not only beat Novak Djokovic in the semifinals, but came back down two sets to love in the final vs. Daniil Medvedev to win his first men's title 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. On the women's side, Aryna Sabalenka was victorious winning back to back titles (NOTE: I made the correction at the very end of the podcast. I stated that this was her first Aussie Open win. She's now won consecutive AO tournaments) to complete a very intriguing tournament overall, with the French up next in the spring.
