Action Network's Maria Marino On Her Broadcasting Journey, The Rise Of Women's College Basketball, Caitlin Clark/Angel Reese Controversy & The Power Of "P" Words

Joining me on this special episode of The JAYREELZ Podcast is Action Network’s Maria Marino. We cover many topics about her broadcasting journey, the rise of Women’s College Basketball, the controversy surrounding Iowa’s Caitlin Clark and LSU’s Angel Reese, her tenure at SNY (SportsNet New York), some of the people who have helped her along the way in the business and the power of ‘P’ words. It’s an engaging conversation that I’m sure you’ll enjoy. Maria delivers plenty of passion and insight as we spend almost an hour discussing all of the above and then some.

Aspiring Broadcaster Jai (From Baltimore) Shields On His Career Path, His Rapport With Chris 'Mad Dog' Russo, Biggest Influence & Much More

Another mid week podcast means another special guest.

Joining me on Episode 145 is an aspiring broadcaster who is already making his mark by being a contributor to one of the nations top sports talk shows. Jai Shields (a.k.a. Jai from Baltimore) is a frequent caller to Mad Dog Unleashed, hosted by legendary host Christopher ‘Mad Dog’ Russo. Now, you’ll get to hear what this young man is all about as he embarks on his quest to become a play-by-play announcer. Mind you, he just turned 18 years old. That’s not a typo! Jai and I discuss his development as a sports fan, his passion for sports, his biggest influences, his ‘relationship’ with Mad Dog Russo and we even tackle how he carries himself in light of racial unrest, police brutality and social injustices throughout our country. This was a great exchange with a bright young mind with lots of potential and a ‘sky’s the limit’ future.

Best Sports Month of the Year/REELZ Rant on Yankees Radio Announcer, John Sterling

My latest podcast is detailing why April is the best sports month of the calendar year. There is so much happening in sports that you can choose anyone of these topics (The Final Four, MLB Opening Weekend, the NBA/NHL postseasons, The Masters Golf Tournament and the NFL Draft) and it would be a great lead-in to start any podcast. I also have a REELZ Rant, as I vent on something I watched, read or listened to that I had to get off my chest. In this case, I was tuned in to the Yankees-Blue Jays game on the radio for their season opener. As I was listening to John Sterling, who is the play-by-play voice of the Yankees radio broadcasts, let's just say, that Giancarlo Stanton's home run call and his lack of describing the action of a baseball game are lightning rods for criticism. For that, and a word on potential future guests, click to download the latest edition of The JAYREELZ Podcast. (Episode 6)

Please subscribe to iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher and Spreaker. Leave a review, give it a rating as it'll increase visibility in the podcast universe, which in turn, will attract more guests to the program.
